    I plan to create very simple custom IP-STS for SharePoint foundation 2010 without ADFS server so anyone can integrate Windows Live ID to SharePoint foundation 2010 simply without ADFS, I can't use ADFS server because it could not install on Windows Web Server 2008 (Web Edition), also I found many article use LDAP provider but it does not exists in SharePoint Foundation too (it requires Sharepoint Server Edition).   • Retrieve COM ProgID from exe without registering it

    Background: I would like to extract the COM data from a VB6 application so I can register it correctly (according to Microsoft best practice) the application. I am using WiX 3.0 and heat.exe will not extract the data (known issue with heat) and I do not have ready access to the associated TLB file. The VB6 application does not have compatibility turned on so it regenerates the COM GUIDs every build (They want to have the application be able to run side by side with an older version.) I created a C# application that will collect the TypeLib, interface and CoClass information from the VB6 application without registering it and create a wxs file for candle to use. My company has several other older applications like this and I would like to make it a more generic solution. The Issues: 1.Is there a way to collect the 'true' ProgID (programmer intended one) from the application with out the project or TLB file and without registering it? 2.Is there a way to find out the intended Threading Model from a DLL without registering it? (I intend that it can handle all COM active items, might as well be complete) Thank you.

  • Django: How to dynamically add tag field to third party apps without touching app's source code

    Scenario: large project with many third party apps. Want to add tagging to those apps without having to modify the apps' source. My first thought was to first specify a list of models in settings.py (like ['appname.modelname',], and call django-tagging's register function on each of them. The register function adds a TagField and a custom manager to the specified model. The problem with that approach is that the function needs to run BEFORE the DB schema is generated. I tried running the register function directly in settings.py, but I need django.db.models.get_model to get the actual model reference from only a string, and I can't seem to import that from settings.py - no matter what I try I get an ImportError. The tagging.register function imports OK however. So I changed tactics and wrote a custom management command in an otherwise empty app. The problem there is that the only signal which hooks into syncdb is post_syncdb which is useless to me since it fires after the DB schema has been generated. The only other approach I can think of at the moment is to generate and run a 'south' like database schema migration. This seems more like a hack than a solution. This seems like it should be a pretty common need, but I haven't been able to find a clean solution. So my question is: Is it possible to dynamically add fields to a model BEFORE the schema is generated, but more specifically, is it possible to add tagging to a third party model without editing it's source. To clarify, I know it is possible to create and store Tags without having a TagField on the model, but there is a major flaw in that approach in that it is difficult to simultaneously create and tag a new model.

The initial program had only MPI and I tried to insert openMP in the matrix multiplication method, in order to improve the time of computation: (This program runs in a cluster and computers have 2 cores, thus I created 2 threads.) The problem is that there is no difference of time, with and without openMP. I observed that using openMP sometimes, time is equivalent or greater than the time without openMP.   • CQRS without using others patterns

    I would like to explain CQRS to my team of developers. I just can't figure out how to explain it in the simplest way so they can implement the pattern rapidly without any others frameworks. I've read a lot of resources including video and articles but I don't find how to implement CQRS without using others patterns like a service Bus, event sourcing pattern, domain driven design. I know the purpose of these pattern but for the first step, I don't want them to think CQRS and theses patterns must be tied together. My first idea is to say that CQRS is about separating the read part and the write part. The read part is composed only of the UI project, and DAL project. Then the write part is composed of a typical multilayer architecture: UI/BLL/DAL. Then, does CQRS say we must also have two datastore ? What about the notion of commands which reveal the user's intention, is it also something part of CQRS or DDD ? Basically, how to implement CQRS without using others patterns. I concede it's also not that clear in my mind because I've used to work with NCQRS/DDD/Event Sourcing/ServiceBus in my personal project. Thanks

    We need to switch users without logging off so we can remotely administrate a PC running with a limited user that will disconnect from the VPN if the user logs off. Because we block CTRL-ALT-DEL the PC effectively hangs until it is powered off. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening so we can change users without the PC hanging when they log off?

  • Adding a column to a model at runtime (without additional tables) in rails

    I'm trying to give admins of my web application the ability to add some new fields to a model. The model is called Artwork and i would like to add, for instante, a test_column column at runtime. I'm just teting, so i added a simple link to do it, it will be of course parametric. I managed to do it through migrations: def test_migration_create Artwork.add_column :test_column, :integer flash[:notice] = "Added Column test_column to artworks" redirect_to :action => 'index' end def test_migration_delete Artwork.remove_column :test_column flash[:notice] = "Removed column test_column from artworks" redirect_to :action => 'index' end It works, the column gets added/ removed to/from the databse without issues. I'm using active_scaffold at the moment, so i get the test_column field in the form without adding anything. When i submit a create or an update, however, the test_column does not get updated and stay empty. Inspecting the parameters, i can see: Parameters: {"commit"=>"Update", "authenticity_token"=>"37Bo5pT2jeoXtyY1HgkEdIhglhz8iQL0i3XAx7vu9H4=", "id"=>"62", "record"=>{"number"=>"test_artwork", "author"=>"", "title"=>"Opera di Test", "test_column"=>"TEEST", "year"=>"", "description"=>""}} the test_column parameter is passed correctly.   • Flash Builder missing fundamental things

    All of a sudden Flash Builder 4 is missing all kinds of fundamental things and is generating incorrect errors. I've had the same issue yesterday, where I fixed it by downloading a new Flex SDK and importing that into FB. I did this again, but this time it fixed nothing. I don't think it's something I did, like removing critical references from the build path. The errors also appeared on projects I was not working on at the time. It occurs for ActionScript, Flex and Flex Library projects alike.     Hi, I usually create my projects without IB-stuff. The first thing I do is to strip off all references to xibs, outlets updated plist, etc and so forth. No problems, works great (in my world)! Now, I just installed 3.2 and tried to develop my first iPad app. Following same procedure as before, I created a UISplitView-based application project and stripped off all IB-stuff. Also, I followed the section in Apple's reference docs: "Creating a Split View Controller Programmatically", http://bit.ly/axgYAs, but nevertheless, the Master-view is never shown, only the Detail-view is (no matter what the orientation is). I really have tried to carefully look this through but I cannot understand what I have missed. Is there a working example of a UISplitViewController without the nibs floating around somewhere? I have googled but could not find any. Or do you know what I probably have missed? Regards, /Steve PS. Spare me the lesson why I should use the IB ;-) DS.

    I know nothing about Xcode, except it's a Developer interface from Apple that actually comes on OSX CD and it's used to create iPhone apps as well. I also know it have a Applications folder, filled with little utilities, that are indeed quite useful. I tried grabbing one of them and running, without installing Xcode but it doesn't work. It brings an error and a Problem Report from which I believe the relevant part is this: Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: @rpath/DevToolsInterface.framework/Versions/A/DevToolsInterface I've tried, of course, locating that "framework", with no success. Well... I guess it's probably possible to install Xcode, get that utility source, if it exists somewhere, and compile for stand-alone. But that goes beyond my point. I just want to know if there's somewhere I can get those utilities and/or make them run without needing to install Xcode at all.

    For e-mail, we use Microsoft Exchange and it is hosted by 1and1.com. We have about 30 Exchange accounts that I would like to backup to a PST file. That is, for each account that we have (all 30), I would like to create a single PST file (1.pst thru 30.pst). I do not have direct access to the Exchange server. Basically, for each Exchange account, I can supply: The IP address for the Exchange server or the URL to the OWA. The Username The Password Is there a tool out there that can do this for me? It seems that Microsoft's "Online Services Migration Tools" comes awfully close, but it appears that its geared to pull data out of any Exchange server and push it into Microsoft Online. I don't believe it can be used to simply pull the data out and generate PST's.

  • Run mplayer from bash in background without extra bash

    I would like to watch a movie with mplayer from bash in the background, like I do with all programs and there has never been any problems: mplayer Kick* & if you'd like to see Kickboxer, for example. But, this doesn't bring up the window, instead it says the process is stopped. I can bring the movie window up with fg mplayer, but then the CLI is unavailable. (This is -- as far as I can see anyway -- equivalent to mplayer Kick*). I'm able to work around the problem like this: $(mplayer Kick*) & But then I get two extra bashes (I see this with ps). It is not really a problem as those closes down when I Alt-F4 the movie, but it is still undesirable. I guess I'm most annoyed with having to type that extra stuff, so if you come up with an alias or function, that would be OK, to. Although, it wouldn't hurt me to learn what's going on. Edit: Hm, it doesn't even seem to work the way I said. The "work"around is not reliable. Forget about it.

    Hi everyone, I want to upgrade my php version running on MAMP to 5.3. I've copied the ./configure statement from phpinfo() and downloaded the 5.3 branch source i wish to compile. However, when i try to compile it i get an error about a missing config_vars.mk file from apxs. How can i solve this issue if i do not have the config_vars.mk? can one be deprecated? can i copy the one from the stock apache that comes installed on OS X (SL)?     Sometimes I just want to see an App description, and when I click on it, my browser goes to a page from Apple which immediately starts to screw up my machine. Reason: Heavy iTunes launches and eats up 95% of my system resources. Beach ball for minutes! And now I want to browse podcasts and it makes me so angry that I can't just have a normal browser. For example, inside iTunes I can't open things in a new window so that I don't get lost from where I came from. It's so limited and memory consuming.
