  • Django: way to test what class a generic relation content_object is?

    - by bitbutter
    In my project I have a class, NewsItem. Instances of NewsItem act like a wrapper. They can be associated with either an ArtWork instance, or an Announcement instance. Here's how the NewsItem model looks: class NewsItem(models.Model): content_type = models.ForeignKey(ContentType) object_id = models.PositiveIntegerField() content_object = generic.GenericForeignKey('content_type', 'object_id') date = models.DateTimeField(default=datetime.datetime.now,) class Meta: ordering = ('-date',) def __unicode__(self): return (self.title()) In a template I'm dealing with a NewsItem instance, and would like to output a certain bunch of html it it's 'wrapping' an Artwork instance, and a different bunch of html if it's wrapping an Announcement instance. Could someone explain how I can write a conditional to test for this? My first naive try looked like this: {% if news_item.content_object.type=='Artwork' %}do this{% else %}do that{% endif %}

  • How to change password hashing algorithm when using spring security?

    - by harry
    I'm working on a legacy Spring MVC based web Application which is using a - by current standards - inappropriate hashing algorithm. Now I want to gradually migrate all hashes to bcrypt. My high level strategy is: New hashes are generated with bcrypt by default When a user successfully logs in and has still a legacy hash, the app replaces the old hash with a new bcrypt hash. What is the most idiomatic way of implementing this strategy with Spring Security? Should I use a custom Filter or my on AccessDecisionManager or …?

  • Django many-to-many relationship to self with extra data, how do I select from a certain direction?

    - by Jake
    I have some hierarchical data where each Set can have many members and can belong to more than one Set(group) Here are the models: class Set(models.Model): ... groups = models.ManyToManyField('self', through='Membership', symmetrical=False) members = models.ManyToManyField('self', through='Membership', symmetrical=False) class Membership(models.Model): group = models.ForeignKey( Set, related_name='Members' ) member = models.ForeignKey( Set, related_name='Groups' ) order = models.IntegerField( default=-1 ) I want to know how to get all the members or all the groups for a Set instance. I think I can do it as follows, but it's not very logical, can anyone tell me what's going on and how I should be doing it? # This gives me a set of Sets # Which seems to be the groups this Set belongs to set_instance.set_set.all() # These give me a set of Memberships, not Sets set_instance.Members.all() set_instance.Groups.all() # These they both return a set of Sets # which seem to be the members of this one set_instance.members.all() set_instance.groups.all()

  • CRSF token and Session replication with Tomcat and Apache

    - by technocool
    I have an J2EE compliant web application. I use a session based token to append a secondary id to all incoming link generated by my application. To prevent my application against CSRF attack, I validate the secondary id before I allow the user session to work off the subsequent page. Recently, while working with session replication mechanism implementation, I observed that on session failover, the generated secodary id is lost and the user get re directed to the login page/default page. Any suggestions on how I can ensure that the my generated secondary token id is not lost from the replicated session?

  • Clojure closures and GC

    - by Ralph
    It is my understanding that the default ClassLoader used in Java (and thus, Clojure) holds on to pointers to any anonymous classes created, and thus, onto lambdas and closures. These are never garbage collected, and so represent a "memory leak". There is some investigation going on for Java 7 or 8 to adding an anonymous ClassLoader that will not retain references to these functions. In the mean time how are people dealing with writing long-running applications in languages like Clojure and Scala, that encourage the use of these constructs? Is there any possibility that Clojure could provide its own anonymous ClassLoader, extending the system one, but not holding onto created classes?

  • Https in java ends up with strange results

    - by Senne
    I'm trying to illustrate to students how https is used in java. But i have the feeling my example is not really the best out there... The code works well on my windows 7: I start the server, go to https://localhost:8080/somefile.txt and i get asked to trust the certificate, and all goes well. When I try over http (before or after accepting the certificate) I just get a blank page, which is ok for me. BUT when I try the exact same thing on my windows XP: Same thing, all goes well. But then (after accepting the certificate first), I'm also able to get all the the files through http! (if I first try http before https followed by accepting the certificate, I get no answer..) I tried refreshing, hard refreshing a million times but this should not be working, right? Is there something wrong in my code? I'm not sure if I use the right approach to implement https here... package Security; import java.io.*; import java.net.*; import java.util.*; import java.util.concurrent.Executors; import java.security.*; import javax.net.ssl.*; import com.sun.net.httpserver.*; public class HTTPSServer { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { InetSocketAddress addr = new InetSocketAddress(8080); HttpsServer server = HttpsServer.create(addr, 0); try { System.out.println("\nInitializing context ...\n"); KeyStore ks = KeyStore.getInstance("JKS"); char[] password = "vwpolo".toCharArray(); ks.load(new FileInputStream("myKeys"), password); KeyManagerFactory kmf = KeyManagerFactory.getInstance("SunX509"); kmf.init(ks, password); SSLContext sslContext = SSLContext.getInstance("TLS"); sslContext.init(kmf.getKeyManagers(), null, null); // a HTTPS server must have a configurator for the SSL connections. server.setHttpsConfigurator (new HttpsConfigurator(sslContext) { // override configure to change default configuration. public void configure (HttpsParameters params) { try { // get SSL context for this configurator SSLContext c = getSSLContext(); // get the default settings for this SSL context SSLParameters sslparams = c.getDefaultSSLParameters(); // set parameters for the HTTPS connection. params.setNeedClientAuth(true); params.setSSLParameters(sslparams); System.out.println("SSL context created ...\n"); } catch(Exception e2) { System.out.println("Invalid parameter ...\n"); e2.printStackTrace(); } } }); } catch(Exception e1) { e1.printStackTrace(); } server.createContext("/", new MyHandler1()); server.setExecutor(Executors.newCachedThreadPool()); server.start(); System.out.println("Server is listening on port 8080 ...\n"); } } class MyHandler implements HttpHandler { public void handle(HttpExchange exchange) throws IOException { String requestMethod = exchange.getRequestMethod(); if (requestMethod.equalsIgnoreCase("GET")) { Headers responseHeaders = exchange.getResponseHeaders(); responseHeaders.set("Content-Type", "text/plain"); exchange.sendResponseHeaders(200, 0); OutputStream responseBody = exchange.getResponseBody(); String response = "HTTP headers included in your request:\n\n"; responseBody.write(response.getBytes()); Headers requestHeaders = exchange.getRequestHeaders(); Set<String> keySet = requestHeaders.keySet(); Iterator<String> iter = keySet.iterator(); while (iter.hasNext()) { String key = iter.next(); List values = requestHeaders.get(key); response = key + " = " + values.toString() + "\n"; responseBody.write(response.getBytes()); System.out.print(response); } response = "\nHTTP request body: "; responseBody.write(response.getBytes()); InputStream requestBody = exchange.getRequestBody(); byte[] buffer = new byte[256]; if(requestBody.read(buffer) > 0) { responseBody.write(buffer); } else { responseBody.write("empty.".getBytes()); } URI requestURI = exchange.getRequestURI(); String file = requestURI.getPath().substring(1); response = "\n\nFile requested = " + file + "\n\n"; responseBody.write(response.getBytes()); responseBody.flush(); System.out.print(response); Scanner source = new Scanner(new File(file)); String text; while (source.hasNext()) { text = source.nextLine() + "\n"; responseBody.write(text.getBytes()); } source.close(); responseBody.close(); exchange.close(); } } }

  • Switch case in jquery

    - by Jasl
    Am I writing the correct switch case? var cnt = $("#div1 p").length; alert(cnt); switch (cnt) { case (cnt >= 10 && cnt <= 20): alert('10'); break; case (cnt >= 21 && cnt <= 30): alert('21'); break; case (cnt >= 31 && cnt <= 40): alert('31'); break; default: alert('>41'); } For some reason, the alert does not occur when the conditions are matched!

  • What are appropriate assembly attribute values for an open source (LGPL) project?

    - by michielvoo
    I have just started working on an open source project. The project is hosted on CodePlex and I work on it in my spare time. What would be appropriate values for the default assembly attributes (listed below)? [assembly: AssemblyCompany("")] [assembly: AssemblyCopyright("")] [assembly: AssemblyTrademark("")] It surprised me to see the AssemblyCompany and AssemblyCopyright attributes on several projects (on CodePlex as well as Google Code): xUnit.net [assembly: AssemblyCopyright("Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation")] [assembly: AssemblyCompany("Microsoft Corporation")] DotNetNuke: <Assembly: AssemblyCompany("DotNetNuke Corporation")> <Assembly: AssemblyCopyright("DotNetNuke is copyright 2002-2010 by DotNetNuke Corporation. All Rights Reserved.")> Moq: [assembly: AssemblyCompany("Clarius Consulting, Manas Technology Solutions, InSTEDD")]

  • Compressing a hex string in Ruby/Rails

    - by PreciousBodilyFluids
    I'm using MongoDB as a backend for a Rails app I'm building. Mongo, by default, generates 24-character hexadecimal ids for its records to make sharding easier, so my URLs wind up looking like: example.com/companies/4b3fc1400de0690bf2000001/employees/4b3ea6e30de0691552000001 Which is not very pretty. I'd like to stick to the Rails url conventions, but also leave these ids as they are in the database. I think a happy compromise would be to compress these hex ids to shorter collections using more characters, so they'd look something like: example.com/companies/3ewqkvr5nj/employees/9srbsjlb2r Then in my controller I'd reverse the compression, get the original hex id and use that to look up the record. My question is, what's the best way to convert these ids back and forth? I'd of course want them to be as short as possible, but also url-safe and simple to convert. Thanks!

  • AutoMapper and Linq expression.

    - by Raffaeu
    I am exposing the Dto generated from AutoMapper to my WCF services. I would like to offer something like that from WCF: IList GetPersonByQuery(Expression predicate); Unfortunately I need back an expression tree of Person as my DAL doesn't know the DTO. I am trying this wihtout success: var func = new Func<Person, bool>(x => x.FirstName.Contains("John")); var funcDto = Mapper.Map<Func<Person, bool>, Func<PersonDto, bool>>(func); Console.WriteLine(func.ToString()); Console.WriteLine(funcDto.ToString()); THe error that I get is: ----> System.ArgumentException : Type 'System.Func`2[TestAutoMapper.PersonDto,System.Boolean]' does not have a default constructor Do you have any suggestions?

  • Download a php-linked file in JavaScript

    - by fonix232
    I have a big problem. I've made a simple Google Chrome plugin (based on the old Youtube Video Downloader) but I have some problems with it. The first problem is that it won't pop up a new save window on click, but opens a new page with the video in the default Chrome player. The second is, that when the user clicks right click-save, they won't get the video name but a standardized name. Is there any way to make a file save dialog with a specified file save name?

  • Validation errors from Google App Engine Logout link

    - by goggin13
    I am making a web page using the Google App Engine. I am validating my pages, and found that the logout link that is generated by the call to the users api (in python) users.create_logout_url(request.uri) does not validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict. The href in the anchor tag looks like this: /_ah/login?continue=http%3A//localhost%3A8080/&action=Logout Including a link with this anchor text throws three different validation errors: *general entity "action" not defined and no default entity *reference to entity "action" for which no system identifier could be generated *EntityRef: expecting ';' Here is a dummy page with the anchor tag in it, if you want to try it on w3c validator.Dummy Page. The logout link wont work, but you can see how the page is valid without it, but the actual text inside the href tag breaks the validation. Any thoughts on whats going on? Thank you!

  • Adding global blank option to DroDownList in MVC

    - by Diegos Grace
    Is there a way of using a templated helper in mvc so that each and every select list in my project has a custom default 'Choose an option' with null value etc. The posts I have seen seem a little complex, is it possible to have a DropDownList.ascx file in shared view folder with something like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<IEnumerable<SelectListItem>>" %> <%= Html.DropDownList(selectlist name, selectlist value, "Choose an option")%> And then having a UIHint("DropDownList") for each dropdownlist in the ViewModel? Some guidance on syntax of parameters would be much appreciated, where name and value of the viewmodel dropdownlist plus the 'Choose an option' string are passed. Or is this all wishful thinking?

  • DataGridView and checkboxes re-selecting automatically

    - by SuperFurryToad
    I have a strange problem with a DataGridView I'm using which is bound to a table in VB.net I've added a checkbox column to allow a user to tick a bunch of rows that I can then loop through and save off to a different table. All the checkboxes are enabled by default. So it's really a case of unchecking the rows which aren't required. However, the DataGridView re-enables any checkbox that I click after I click on a checkbox in another row. So in effect, only one row can be unchecked at a time. I'm sure I'm probably missing something obvious here?

  • NSStrings, C strings, pathnames and encodings in iPhone

    - by iter
    I am using libxml2 in my iPhone app. I have an NSString that holds the pathname to an XML file. The pathname may include non-ASCII characters. I want to get a C string representation of the NSString for to pass to xmlReadFile(). It appears that cStringUsingEncoding gives me the representation I seek. I am not clear on which encoding to use. I wonder if there is a "default" encoding in iPhone OS that I can use here and ensure that I can roundtrip non-ASCII pathnames.

  • Metadata file ... could not be found error when building projects

    - by Robert Höglund
    Every time I start Visual Studio 2008, the first time I try to run the project I get the error CS0006 The metadata file ... could not be found. If I do a rebuild of the complete solution it works. Some information about the solution: I'm building in debug mode and Visual Studio complains about not finding dll:s in the release folder. The projects Visual Studio complains about are used by many other projects in the solution. I have changed the default output path of all projects to a ......\build\debug\ProjectName and ......\build\release\ProjectName respectively. (Just to get all build files in one directory) I have the same problem with a another solution. The solution was created from scratch. There are 9 projects in the solution. One WPF and 8 class libraries using dotnet 3.5. Any ideas on what is causing this problem?

  • How can I tell Phusion Passenger which python to use?

    - by Mike
    I'm using Phusion Passenger with a ruby app and I'd also like to set it up to work with an django appengine app I'm working on. Googling for "passenger_wsgi.py" I was able to get the following very simple non-django app working on passenger: passenger_wsgi.py: def application(environ, start_response): response_headers = [('Content-type','text/plain')] start_response('200 OK', response_headers) return ['Hello World!\n'] However, if I add the line import django.core.handlers.wsgi into the mix, I get 'An error occurred importing your passenger_wsgi.py'. By printing out the sys.path I've discovered that at least part of the reason is because Passenger is using the wrong python installation on my machine. How can I configure Passenger (on apache) to use /opt/local/bin/python2.5 instead of the system default python?

  • Which features do html form elements miss

    - by Bakhtiyor
    I just wondered and wanted to gather together in one place all missing features of our beloved html form elements. One example could be missing of horizontal scrollbar in a listbox. But I am sure there are a lot of features we would like to see in our form elements by default. I order to be clear let's only take into account HTML4, because with HTML5 there are a lot of things haven't been finished yet. One missing feature per answer please. Thank you.

  • What data type should I use for my texture coordinates in OpenGL ES?

    - by Matthew Chen
    I notice that the default data type for texture coordinates in the OpenGL docs is GLfloat, but much of the sample code I see written by experienced iphone developers uses GLshort or GLbyte. Is this an optimization? GLfloat vertices[] = { // Upper left x1, y2, // Lower left x1, y1, // Lower right x2, y1, // Upper right x2, y2, }; glTexCoordPointer(2, GL_FLOAT, 0, iconSTs); vs. GLbyte vertices[] = { // Upper left x1, y2, // Lower left x1, y1, // Lower right x2, y1, // Upper right x2, y2, }; glTexCoordPointer(2, GL_BYTE, 0, iconSTs);
