  • Can SiteB Restrict Access Only to Users Authenticated on Site A? How?

    I have recently been asked to estimate a piece of work which will provide functionality for authenticated users to access our site. The thing is, the user has to authenticate on a different site & domain to the one we are hosting. The user authenticates on SiteA.com and they are provided with a link to our site, SiteB. Only users who have authenticated on SiteA are allowed to access SiteB.com. I don't yet know what authentication system SiteA is using, but I thought I'd ask the community for some initial thoughts. Is this even possible? What do I need to consider? Thanks

  • odd behavior when checking if radio button selected in jQuery

    I had the following check in my jQuery which I thought was working fine to see if a radio button was checked. if ($("input[@name='companyType']:checked").attr('id') == "primary") { ... } Here's the radiobuttons: <p> <label>Company Type:</label> <label for="primary"><input onclick="javascript: $('#sec').hide('slow');$('#primary_company').find('option:first').attr('selected','selected');" type="radio" name="companyType" id="primary" checked />Primary</label> <label for="secondary"><input onclick="javascript: $('#sec').show('slow');" type="radio" name="companyType" id="secondary" />Subsidiary</label> </p> Then, it suddenly stopped working (or so I thought). I did some debugging and finally realized that it was returning an id of "approved_status". Elsewhere on my form I have a checkbox called "approved_status". I realized that when I originally tested this, I must have testing it on records where approved_status is false. And, now most of my approved_statuses are true/checked. I changed the code to this: var id = $("input:radio[@name='companyType']:checked").attr('id'); alert(id); if (id == "primary") { And it's now properly returning "primary" or "secondary" as the id. So, it is working, but it seems that it's not checking the name at all and now just checking radio buttons. I just want to know for future use, what's wrong with the original code b/c I can see possibly having 2 different radio sets on a page and then my new fix probably wouldn't work. Thanks!

  • How to track conversion rate (clicks to sales) from an internal advertising system?

    I am currently writing an interal advertising system for a company client's website, where the adverts will only be seen by internal users, and all transactions take place internally to the site (i.e. the adverts are for member-only content available on the site). Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best way to track the conversion rate of these adverts (i.e. views:clicks:sales)? EDIT I'm not looking for a 'Why don't you use google analystics'-type answer, I'm looking into possible architecture outlines, i.e. a 'why don't use store a guid in a cache temporarily and see if it ties to the advert' kind of answer. /EDIT In a previous job I did something based on an internal cache, which simply did view:click tracking, however the addition of the sales rate makes this task more complex, especially if we take into account the idea that someone may click through to an advert and not purchase immediately.     I need to open a new pop up window on click of a button in a view. The new window should be redirect to a specific actionmethod in a specific controller. I also need to provide attributes for size of the new pop up window. I have been trying the following code: <input type="button" name = "ClickMe" Value="ClickMe" onclick= "javascript:window.open('/Home/Create/','Customer Search',height='window.screen.height - 100', width='200',left='window.screen.width - 250' ,top='10',status='no',toobar='no',resizable='yes',scrollbars='yes')"/> On click of button, nothing happens. I get following Javascript error: Line: 19 Char: 1 Error: Invalid argument. Code: 0 When I check the ViewSource of the HTML rendered, I find the line to be the one which is rendering the button. I am using Windows Vista with IE 7. I am working on MVC 3 with Razor Engine in VS 2010

  • Defining Views Based On Selection

    Well the title isn't very descriptive but I'm not exactly sure how to explain but here goes! I have a web application (can use either MVC or standard web forms) which a user signs in to. If the user has signed up for more than one product they will have the option to switch between them. For the sakes of this example lets say User1 signs in and has access to Product1, Product2 and Product3. Now, each product will be very different and offer different functionally. What I want is the main view to be focused around the product they have selected and not redirected to a sub domain. What I don't want to have to do is get them to go to www.mysite.com/product1 or www.mysite.com/product2 but simply www.mysite.com regardless of the product they have selected and have the site render the views etc for that product. Wow does any of that make any sense? I was thinking mabe the use of sessions or something and URL rewriting? Are there any sample apps out there that make use of the same kind of functionallity that I could take a look at? Thanks for any help I appreciate it!

  • Failed to load viewstate...

    Yes, it's the infamous viewstate again! Now I am aware that problems can ocurr if you load controls in the wrong order or if the viewstate IDs are incorrect after postbacks etc etc. But my issue is that I am not really creating any controls dynamically - I only have one user control on the page. More importantly, the issue seems to be occuring with just one user. What could be the problem? Corrupt browser cache? Any help appreciated. thanks, KS

    In the past, with pages with large viewstate I have overridden the PageStatePersister class so when the state is saved I compress it. On Load I decompress it. I have haven't really thought about it, but could IIS handle something like this better? The reason I did this was to keep my pages slimmer because I have a lot of custom controls on the page and the viewstate was huge.     I am building a website to capture data. I have many spreadsheets that are used for data entry or capture. Now I want to mimic these complex spreadsheets on the web forms but I am unsure of the correct control to use. Data entry must be allowed and live calculations also need to be made similar to formulas on normal excel spreadsheets. Later on the data must be captured into an SQL table. What would be the best control to use or method to mimic that functionality, albeit that the spreadsheet component is no longer available in visual studio 2010. Is it a data grid? Thanks
