  • Push alerts to notification tray app in Java

    Hi - how do I push server alerts to tray apps in java without using xmpp or other heavy protocols? Do you recommend a way to accomplish this? I was planning to write an app which uses URLConnection on a server equipped with Comet but I doubt if that would work as the client requires a JS to be invoked and URLConnection is not a browser.. What is the best way to push instead of using a proprietary client-server approach?

    Hi, I want to write only a specific portion of a .avi file in the output .avi file .For this I follow Source Filter -Avi mux-File Writer.I try to use IMediaSeeking on the Mux to set the specific start and stop times using Set Positions but it returns E_NOTIMPL. I also try to query the graph builder for IMediaSeeking and try to set the start and stop positions with no success.Can someone help?

I know that this can be done in IIS by using the HTTP Redirect feature. But since i want to do this for different websites, I would like to write a bat file which would run the command to set the redirect url for a website. Can anyone please help me how to set the redirection URL through command line?

    I'm in trouble with paths, relative paths, NSBundle and all the path/file related operations :) While i run the simulator everthing goes right but all the file changes are not permanent, so everytime i run my app i have to repeat the initial setup of my app. The question: What is the proper way to read and write files (from resource dir) and make all the file changes permanent (updated into the project folder) ? Is there an equivalent style for the web? I mean, with a predefined list of widgets that can be defined using a markup language and then control them using code? I have come across Google's Web Toolkit that does something like this but I'd like to hear what other's think as well.

  • Bubbling up events . .

    I have multiple layers in an application and i find myself having to bubble up events to the GUI layer for doing status bar changes, etc . . I find myself having to write repeated coded where each layer simply subscribes to events from the lower layer and then in the call back simply raise an event up the chain. Is there a more efficient way of doing this?
