• offset not working , want to do paging

  Hi, i have tried offset in simpledb but its not working as it working in mysql , and i want to do paging for my database api in php so that i send the pagenumber and pagelength to the query and it will return the data of that page only. How this i can do in simpledb. select * from second where time_stamp is not null and gibid = '54' and gibview = 'O' order by time_stamp asc limit $pagelength as offset is not working so i can't add offset in query. I have google and find there is next token is returned but i am not getting nexttoken. how to check for nexttoken. Please help . Thanks

  Hello I'm trying to teach myself Drupal and I've found something I can't find any tutorials for. I am trying to generate a form, with a dynamic number of text fields, to populate and edit the contents of my custom table. • How many variables is to many when storing in _SESSION?

  Hi - I'm looking for an idea of best practices here. I have a web based application that has a number of hooks into other systems. Let's say 5, and each of these 5 systems has a number of flags to determine different settings the user has selected in said systems, lets say 5 settings per system (so 5*5). I am storing the status of these settings in the user sesion variables and was wondering is that a sufficient way of doing it? I'm learning php as I go along so not sure about any pitfalls that this could run me into!

• Push a variable into global scope?

  We use instantiate and put system critical objects in $GLOBALS for easy access from anywhere (e.g. DB, Cache, User, etc.). We use $GLOBALS so much that it would (yes, really) drop the amount of code quite a bit if I could reference it like $G = &$GLOBALS for a shorthand call. The problem is that, per my experience and several hours of Googling, I have not found any construct in PHP which allows you to 'flag' a var as global, making $GLOBALS first class, and everything else second class. Am I missing something? Is this possible?

  Whenever I use print_r or var_dump they come out all sloppy and in one line instead of formatted like I see so many people and the actual php.net site being able to achieve. What do I do to get them like this - Array ( [a] => apple [b] => banana [c] => Array ( [0] => x [1] => y [2] => z ) ) Instead of this Array([a] => apple [b] => banana [c] => Array ( [0] => x [1] => y [2] => z )) (Pretty sure it comes out even messier than that I was just deleting whitespace by hand.)

  Hey, i am coding a small php forum from scratch and would like to show readers what posts he hasnt read yet and what forum categories have unread posts since this visit, pretty much how phpbb or invision boards work. How do i approach this, cookies? phpbb doesnt seem to use cookies for this, not very a good idea do have a cookie for each post... maybe use css visited attribute? but i dont see how would that work if a new post pops up. • Turkish characters are not displayed correctly

• Magento "File was not uploaded"

  I'm currently using the magento admin interface, trying to upload an image in the "manage products" and I get the error "file was not uploaded" after I browse the file and click "upload file". I've looked on other forums and the main solution I saw were to make sure that php.ini has the following lines... magic_quotes_gpc = off short_open_tag = on extension=pdo.so extension=pdo_mysql.so I have Windows/IIS with ISAPI_Rewrite. Is there a max file upload size that I can change somewhere. I'm uploading pictures from my local desktop of size ~100kb. help!

  I'm really not confident with Regex, I know some basic syntax but not enough to keep me happy. I'm trying to build a regular expression to check if an email is valid. So far here's what I've got: [A-Za-z0-9._-]+@[A-Za-z0-9]+.[A-Za-z.]+ It needs to take account of periods in the username/domain and I think it works with multiple TLDs (e.g. co.uk). I'm working with the preg engine in PHP so it needs to work with that. Thanks if you can help!

  I am trying to remove a trailing - (dash) at the end of the string. Here is my code: <?php $str = 'SAVE $45! - Wed.   hi, right now, i code custom wordpress theme and testing it in xampp windows XP on apache server. But as long as i concern, there's no wp build-in function to identify the code environment. • file_get_contents returns an empty string that is 354 bytes long.

  I'm trying to read the contents of a file and simply getting an empty string. The file exists on the server. I've tried some test with the following code and get the true to display: $filename = "includes/blah.php"; $filecontents = file_get_contents($filename, FILE_USE_INCLUDE_PATH); if ($filecontents === false) { echo(":FALSE:"); } else { echo(":TRUE:"); } var_dump($filecontents); The dump displays "string(354)" which is the correct size of the file. What am I doing wrong?

  Today, I went for an interview and the interviewer asked me how I would find the index of a given value (number) in a pre-sorted array like this: $preSortedArr=array(23,32,36,41,45,54); He also said that using recursion is not allowed. • How do I completely disable caching in Cakephp?

  So I opened the cache floodgates in my Cakephp app and now I want to close them... I've done pretty everything I can: delete all files in the tmp folder (but not the folders), turned 'Cache.disable' on in the core.php file in my app, have tried clearing the cache from within some controllers with clearCache() and Cache::clear() (but I suspect this doesn't work because it's not loading the controller -- due to caching). I've pretty much effectively halted my development process just because caching won't turn off. Anyone have some ideas that I could try? I'm starting to think it may be within the browser or maybe my hosting service, but it's probably just Cakephp messing with me.

So first i want to select in binder the binder i need to get the tablesname where data is stored. So i need to select table by a fieldname in this case the fieldname is tableid1 and would have the content 21 so that i have to look in 21. AND it should be property 1 from table 456 and table 21 the same... i am using php and already tried with union and subquerys but it seems that i am to silly to prepare such query!

• Is there a major downside to using .htaccess files in your svn/git repository?

  If our .htaccess files are purely for mod rewrites, is there a security / development downside to committing .htaccess files alongside other files in your repository? For various reasons (our SEO optimisers like to add pretty urls as new promotions occur, etc) we need a fair few rewrite rules inside these files. Would I be better off pushing the routing into php-land and dealing with it there? Or is reading from a .htaccess via apache fine? The .htaccess files are not exposed via the web server, so that's not a security risk.
