Hi
Does Sybase provide learning resources for wannabe Sybase DBAs like Oracle Learn by Example?
I am an experienced relational DBA wanting to learn Sybase.
We want to mirror our current production app server (Oracle Application Server) onto our staging server. As it stands right now, various things are out of sync, and what may work in testing/QA can easily fail in production because of settings/patch/etc inconsistencies. I was thinking what would be best is to clone the entire disk daily and push it onto the staging server... Would this be the best method...? (note: these are all windows servers)
I'm looking for an alternative to www.squarespace.com. Squarespace is great, but leans slightly toward the social networking industry. I'm looking for a simple way to build Web sites for small businesses.
The criteria is the following:
Requires no programming knowledge.
No software to download - all design and maintenance can be done via browser
Has a good selection of templates and layouts
Essentially I'm looking for the features within Typepad.com or WordPress.com, but instead of focusing around a blog it would help build a more traditional Web site.
I always made web pages by writing HTML code but now I would like to try to use some WYSIWYG approach. Can anybody recommend me a program which I can use for that? I mean a program in which you can move buttons, tables, pictures by mouse. You can change size and shape by mouse. You can use nice templates for "block of text", buttons, background and so on.
I am using Windows 7. May be I already have something pre-installed?
Is there an easier way to create a new document (in Word 2010) from a document template in Sharepoint?
Right now, this is how I do it:
Go to Sharepoint site and edit .dotx in Word.
Click "File" from the ribbon and choose "New".
From the "Available templates" section, click "New from existing".
From the "New from Existing Document" dialog, choose the Sharepoint document, and click "Create New".
Once the new document opens, click "File" from the ribbon again, and choose "Save as". The document will be saved as .docx
On the Home ribbon in Power Point 2007 there is a new slide button with an arrow that shows you various types of slides that you can add to your presentation: Title Slide, Title and Content, Comparison, Title Only, etc. I want to design a new type of slide that has 4 content areas instead of two and then be able to add new slides of this type using the new slide menu.
I know that I can add new Power Point templates but that would require me to start a new presentation with my custom slide type in it and the copy and paste that slide into the current presentation that I am already working on.
How can I create a new slide type and then add it to the menu so that I can quickly create new slides of my new 4 content area slide type?
The built-in HTML gallery unfortunately generates invalid HTML markup so its looks are likely more coincidence than proper design. That aside its JavaScript usage prevents using the middle mouse button to open an image in a new tab.
A look at the few free HTML gallery templates out there shows me that there seems to be little interest in building an actual HTML gallery which doesn't use JavaScript. Most of them are using JS to build fancy animations or in-page popup boxes containing the image. This may be nice for some people but at least one person who looks at my images is on dial-up and quickly opening all images in individual tabs to let them load and then close the connection is very nice to have there.
Anyone seen such a gallery template; i. e. simple, plain HTML without JS? My HTML/CSS skills aren't that good that I can develop such a thing on my own, unfortunately.
I am trying to install Java SDK for windows 7 (Ultimate version, 64bit), I downloaded the following file from oracle website: jdk-7u9-windowsx64.exe. When I try to execute it, I get an error that it is not a valid win 32 application. I think the JDK version is correct. Can somebody help me out? Also, comment if you need more info about my machine configuration to help me out.
Edit: I have 4 GB RAM on my system , Dell Latitude E4310
Solaris Korn Shell
I am writing sql reports to an oracle database, spooling them to a file and emailing them with mailx. I use the syntax below. The reports do not format properly, unless I use the Courier New font. How do I set this with mailx?
mailx -s "MY REPORT, date +'%D %r " -r "REPORTING SYSTEM" [email protected]< /mydir/mysql.log /dev/null
I've got a KVM Virtual Machine in my local PC, and I'd like to copy it to a Proxmox server. According to the docs, I just have to create a new VM on Proxmox and add the existing disk image to it, but how do I upload the image to the server? In the admin panel, if I click in MyStorage - Content - Upload, it just give me options to upload ISOs, VZDump backup files or OpenVZ templates. Would it be enough with a copy using scp? In that case, in which folder?
Is there any tool that can automate recording online streaming radio? I've been use totalrecorder which it has below upside:
1. Handy scheduler.
2. Support create recording templates, so I can customize some high/low quality recording.
The downside are it requires to open the streaming radio in browser and can't have another sound source. It's recording what comes out from the speaker.
What I am looking for is given a online radio url, and the tool can record the audio stream. No matter if I am playing any other music or not.
Thanks.
I need to integrate NMS in large enterprise system for data collection purposes. Primary requirements:
collection by SNMP
great scalability (up to 1,000 devices with 1,000 interfaces each)
failover
data storage in Oracle DBMS
integration API (configuration, data access)
Any ideas would be appreciated...
I need to choose a Wiki. Please someone help. Following are my requirements:
1) Need good control to the access variables
2) LDAP integration support
3) User Group Support
4) Good Themes and Templates
Mediawiki has the problem that it does not support Users Groups that intutively. Twiki and Foswiki have a problem that any authenticated user that has write permissions for a topic also have the write to change the particualar permissions for the topic.
Else, can someone suggest me where to look for the answer. I know about the WikiMatrix

We are currently using the following Group Policy to control the Internet Explorer security zones:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page
Then setting the Site to Zone Assignment List with the various values using the following chart:
Value Setting
------------------------------
0 My Computer
1 Local Intranet Zone
2 Trusted sites Zone
3 Internet Zone
4 Restricted Sites Zone
This works well; however, users are then unable to edit (or especially add) to their zone settings. Is there a way to lock in our custom zone settings while still giving users the ability to add their own sites to the security zones?
Yes, I do realize the slight security risk in opening this up.
I am attempting to setup BugZilla to receive but reports from another system using the XML-RPC interface.
BugZilla works fine on its own with its own interface.
When I attempt to test the XML-RPC functionality by accessing "xmlrpc.cgi" in my browser I get the error:
The XML-RPC Interface feature is not available in this Bugzilla
at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 27
main::BEGIN(...) called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29
eval {...} called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29
Following this I install test-taint package from the default perl repository, this installs version 1.04. Re-running "xmlrpc.cgi" gives me an IIS error:
502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server.
There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server.
So I run the checksetup.pl which inform me that:
Use of uninitialized value in open at C:/Perl/site/lib/Test/Taint.pm line 334, <DATA> line 558.
Installing Test-Taint from CPAN is the same. I assume XML-RPC is relent on Test-Taint, but Test-Taint doesn't seem to run correctly.
If I ignore this error and attempt to invoke "bz_webservice_demo.pl" to add an entry the script times out.
How can I get the XML-RPC / Test-Taint function working ?

I work with OS X, Snow Leopard and need to allow users to make copies of files (templates) located in a read-only repository for subsequent editing.
The repository is located on a separate physical drive mounted to the OS X boot volume.
As this is a shared computer in a school environment, all users access the machine via a single login ("user_local").
Whether using POSIX permissions or ACLs, the use case requires the file permissions to change from "read" to "read write" as they get copied to the "user_local" home directory.
Googling around has not yielded anything that would indicate that this is possible via the Snow Leopard permission system.
Question 1:
Is this in fact possible via the permission system?
If so, how?
Question 2:
If not possible, how would one go about solving this problem?
I imagine this to be a fairly common use case so there must be a workable solution for it out there.
Thanks.
I have a Windows 2008 system with VMware Oracle RAC and Linux CentOS as guest OS plus Visual Studio etc installed. Can anybody tell me how do I go about creating a system image so restores can be a snap?
I am writing a Nagios plugin to monitor trends of a certain storage resource utilization (e.g. gradual increases are fine, but an instantaneous/sudden increase or decrease in resource usage may indicate a problem). For what it's worth, it is reviewing the last N entries in an RRD file generated by a custom cacti data source/templates.
What is the "right" way to handle Nagios notification config/implementation for this? The problem is that it the plugin would exit as warning/critical for one polling period, but in the next it would be fine (or 3 polling periods later, if I look at 3 polling periods worth of data).
I guess the question is: should I just write it in such a way that it will alert for X polling periods, or should I find a way to write it such that manual intervention is required for it to clear (such as logging into the monitoring server or hitting a URL to run a script that submits a passive result)?
Your input is appreciated, and if you have any tips for how to implement the latter I'm open to them (I can think of a few ways to possibly implement it)
I want to re-order the cypher suites on our new Windows Server 2012 box to help mitigate the BEAST vulnerability for our clients. I went to Local Group Policy => Computer Configuration => Administrative Templates => Network => SSL Configuration Settings, opened SSL Cypher Suite Order, enabled it, and copied the values from the SSL Cypher Suites textbox.
I pasted them into notepad, re-ordered them, then copied+pasted them back into the SSL Cypher Suites textbox. However, the box isn't long enough to hold them all, despite the fact that the length didn't change. I would have to drop the last 3 cyphers (SSL_CK_DES_192_EDE3_CBC_WITH_MD5,TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA256,TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA) in order for it to fit.
Should I just drop them? Other ideas?
I am using org-mode to generate html pages from my notes. I used Publishing Org-mode files to HTML to setup blog system.
I have defined an export template. But to use it I have to add following line in top of my every org file inside my notes project.
#+SETUPFILE: ~/.emacs.d/org-templates/level-0.org
Is there a way to set this up in .emacs or to customize an org-mode variable so that I do not have to place this line in every file?
According to org-mode manual, #+SETUPFILE is an in-buffer setting. Does this mean I cannot define
it globally for all org files?
These two answers on SU tell how to customize style for HTML export.
But my template file contains other settings besides CSS style. So only customizing style won't do it for me.
I tried to compile mod_ntlm for Oracle HTTP Server but got all sorts of errors, can someone

I would like to use the same SRs on XenServer hosts that are not able to be part of the same pool (because of not having the exact same cpu feature set, if I understand it correctly) in order to share templates, being able to (manually) start a host on another node, backing up running hosts on other hardware etc etc. The technology for SR can be any of iSCSI, NFS or CIFS, iSCSI would obviously be preferred.
Trying to add an iSCSI volume renders a "This LUN is already in use as SR iSCSI - Shared Storage on pool xxxxxx.". Adding a NFS share on one XS host, creating a template there and then checking another XS host reveals they don't agree on used space etc.
Coming from a vSphere world this is quite baffling, but if these are limitations then I will have to rethink some of the concepts for this low budget project.
In Windows 8 Professional, Metro Apps and Windows Update do not work with static IP settings behind authenticated proxy server. They work with DHCP on the same proxy settings (we have DHCP for wifi and static IP for LAN, both using the same proxy server).
IE, Chrome and other desktop apps work nicely with both.
Metro apps worked with an auth proxy (DHCP only), when I changed their proxy settings from the "edit group policy" option:
Start → Settings → Edit Group Policy → Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Network Isolation → Internet Proxy for Apps
How can I fix this?
2008 R2, XP and W7 64 bit workstations.
Trying to add/modify two registry entries for Lync2010 for each user. Created using GP Management, User Configuration, Preferences, Registry.
If the two registry entries already exist, then the policy works correctly. If they don't exist, nothing changes. GPReults reports it was successful. If I import the .reg file manually, it also works, so I don't believe it is a rights issue.
I have tried the Update, Create, and Replace as the Action.
I am not familiar with ADM templates, is that the only way to do it?
