    If I make a list in Python and want to write a function that would return only odd numbers from a range 1 to x how would I do that? For example, if I have list [1, 2, 3, 4] from 1 to 4 (4 ix my x), I want to return [1, 3].

    I have some code that does an awful lot of string formatting, Often, I end up with code along the lines of: "...".format(x=x, y=y, z=z, foo=foo, ...) Where I'm trying to interpolate a large number of variables into a large string. Is there a good reason not to write a function like this that uses the inspect module to find variables to interpolate? import inspect def interpolate(s): return s.format(**inspect.currentframe().f_back.f_locals) def generateTheString(x): y = foo(x) z = x + y # more calculations go here return interpolate("{x}, {y}, {z}")

Anyone know where I could find information on writing a batch file for auto-zipping files using only what is available to a user running windows?   • How do I generate an Array string from an array in memory (php).

    I need to create a big array in my code, I have the values in several tables (for easy management). I select it and now I have all the values in an array, in memory in the way I want. My problem, I need to write this array down, into the code. Is there a way to take an array which sits in the memory and translate it into a string "array('g'='h','b'='d'....)" which I can then echo and just copy-paste into my code?

    Suppose I want to write my own preprocessor. So I want something like this: all *.cpp and *.hpp (even the included ones), before they go to g++, they go: file --> my preprocessor -> g++ Is there a easy way to do this in the LLVM framework? i.e. to add in a stage that says: "after you load up the source file, pipe it through this program before compling it" ? What's the proper way write the :conditions to count the rows which the voided column value is NULL or equal to zero?

  • Stored Procedure in postgresql, multiple queries w/ agreggates.

    I'm trying to write a store procedure that can take some input parameters (obviously), run multiple queries against those, taking the output from those and doing calculations, and from those calculations and the original queries, outputting a formatted text string like: Number of Rows for max(Z) matching condition x and y of total rows matching x (x&y/x*100). To explain the max(Z) bit, this will be the username field, it won't matter which actual entry is picked, because the where clause will filter the results by user id, is there a saner way to do this?

    When you have a slow database app, the first suggestions that people make is to: Track the slow queries Add appropriate indexes In the case you are building your own application this is very logical, but when you use a CMS like Drupal, that are people have developed and tuned, is this approach valid? I mean, aren't Drupal tables already fine-tuned for performance? Even if I try to see which queries are the slow ones, what could I do about it? Re-write Drupal core?!?

    The first one below works, but, just wanted to see if there's a better way... If I'm trying to find all records that start with 'C' with either a flag of 2 or a status of 9, do I need to incorporate the 'C' criteria twice? i.e., "SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE name like 'C%' AND flag = 2 OR name like 'C%' AND status = 9" Or, is there a way quicker way to write it so that I only need to set 'C%' once?
