• Facing gestures in Linux mint Chrome Browser

  I am using Linux mint OS since an Year , I use to consistently download updates and install , I use chrome as a default browser , when ever I open youtube and watch some video , I listen to some gestures in sound ( say repeated lyrics of song ) while it is playing , In firefox it is working fine . What is the problem am I missing any plugin , AFAIK Chrome doesn't need a flash player plug in , It has a built in flash player . IS that the problem ? And also previously I was not facing this , recently I started using Cinimon UI centOS after this all these kind of problems started MY hard ware is 64 bit intel core i3 and also I have installed linux mint 64 bit Please let me know what is the problem and how to fix this . • Excel embedded in a php page

  I have a client who wants to be able to embed an Excel document (one that is currently sitting on the same server as the HTML document) like how you would embed a Flash app on a page. I'm correct in assuming this is not possible, right? Please confirm/deny so we can hopefully move on from this because he seems to think this is possible. We are on a LAMP setup so no .NET tricks, unfortunately.

By default it seems to use the operating system default browser, but I would prefer to use IE when debugging ASP.net apps. (I am testing this with ASP.net MVC 2)

• apache httpd cannot browse through browser

  i've setup apache and php on a virtual machine. everything works fine in the virtual machine. im able to execute php files and run up phpmyadmin connecting to mysql. on my host machine, im able ping and ssh into the remote machines. however, im unable to browse the php files on the host browser using the ip address. in my httpd.conf, im listening to port 80. i enabled the ServerName 192.168.75.102:80 am i missing some settings? port settings maybe?

• How to track my kid's Multi-Browser website history

  My kid is 14, homeschooled and capable computer user. All of her school work is done online; the computer literacy course even uses 3 different browsers, Chrome, IE, and Firefox. I have 2 laptops, running Win7 (one is Pro, the other Home). Is there a way to get all of her browser history in one place? I have to account for 60 minutes of class time per subject per day, but trying to do this across all 3 is getting too complicated. Thanks! PS. My kid and I talk about internet safety and usage regularly and she knows that I monitor where she goes and how long she is there. Secrecy is not an issue.

• Installed IE8 & SP3 on XP now I can't HTTPS from any browser

  The computer is Windows XP Professional SP3 with IE8. On the Tools Options Connections the "Settings" is GRAYED OUT (I am an admin on the machine) Any browsing of https:// addresses results in IE displaying the following: "this program cannot display the web page" After installing an alternate browser and trying the same https:// address I get a similar error message. I have tried using Compatibility View Settings to for all web pages and this has no effect on the problem. HTTP addresses work fine, I can PING sites such as google.com without issue. Question: What could be preventing me from getting at the settings to check to see if I'm using a proxy? What else could be preventing HTTPS access?

I want to ensure that JS is always enabled while browsing any part of the plone site. In auto generated manifest file contains, ( i was using MS VC++ 2008 Express Edition) In side by side(winsxs) directory, there are three version on msvcr90.dll. my.dll started to using only the latest version of msvcr90.dll (9.0.30729.4148). Here in below topics i need the help: 1) my.dll is using only the latest version of msvcr90.dll . if i tried to make this dll as old. My application fails to start. How to make contidion that my.dll should refer only to the version which i mentioned in manifest file. 2) how can i tell my.dll should dependent on the msvcr90.dll which i providing in the local directory along with my.dll. I want to restrict my my.dll should not do search in the system directory for the msvcr90.dll.

• MVC 4 iframe embedded in desktop page showing mobile view

  I use Index.cshtml and Index.mobile.cshtml. My Index.cshtml is a mobile app landing page containing an iframe to live demo the mobile web app. Index.mobile.cshtml is the mobile web app itself. The problem is, the iframe keeps loading the desktop version itself. As far as I know, I cannot configure the user agent of the iframe to a mobile type. It should be solvable with some routing but I couldn't figure out how!?

• Why don't we use browser detection and platform-specific CSS?

  Nowadays, the common phenomena is to develop a website for a browser and then corresponding apps for Android phones, iPhone, tablets and so on. Since all the platforms come with a browser, why aren't companies using CSS to accommodate them? Surely we can detect from the request which browser was used and from which platform the request came. Reading those values, why don't we just implement the corresponding CSS for different platforms. Like we do for IE, Chrome and Safari. This way we can use the platforms' browser capabilities and don't need to develop subsequent apps for a platform.

  Hi, i'm new to the realm to working with Files in .NET I'm creating a WPF application in VB.NET with the 3.5 Framework. (If you provide an example in C#, that's perfectly fine.) In my project I have a Template for an MS Access database. My desired behavior is that when the users clicks File--New, they can create a new copy of this template, give it a filename, and save it to their local directory. The database already has the tables and some starting data needed to interface with my application (a user-friendly data editor) I'm thinking the approach is to include this "template.accdb" file as a resource in the project, and write it to a file somehow at runtime? Any guidance will be very, very appreciated. Thanks!

• Dns works, can ping, but cannot load web pages in browser

  Yesterday I changed routers, and my desktop computer started acting up. I could ping websites, and nslookup was able to resolve names to addresses, but neither chrome, firefox, nor ie could load any webpages. None of my other computers connected to the same wireless router have any problems. I connect my desktop to the router through a cheap wifi dongle. I am not super familiar with networking, but it seems that it is not a problem with the router, as dns works, and so does dhcp (the desktop is assigned an address correctly). • PHP file_get_contents() behaves differently to browser.

  I'm trying to download the contents of a web page using PHP. When I issue the command: $f = file_get_contents("http://mobile.mybustracker.co.uk/mobile.php?searchMode=2"); It returns a page that reports that the server is down. Yet when I paste the same URL into my browser I get the expected page. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? Does file_get_contents transmit any headers that differentiate it from a browser request?

I need my user control to be able to easily and efficiently work out if its inside another user control or an aspx page. My initial idea is to do it recursively with checks on the Parent property - continue looking up the nesting hierarchy until I find either a web form or a user control - but I'm not sure this the best way of going about this. • Facebook-ios-sdk with embedded UIWebView

  I'm working with the new facebook-ios-sdk and have successfully integrated the api into my native app. I am able to authenticate a user and properly setup permissions using a popup dialog with the ios-sdk classes. For a portion of my app I need to use the facebook connection within a UIWebView, using javascript and html to process data within the webview. Given that the user is already logged in and authenticated via the above routine, I would have assumed that the UIWebView would share those credentials, or that there would at least be some way to pass or assign the credentials to the webview. Unfortunately, I found this earlier post which seems to suggest that this scheme doesn't quite work (iOS - being logged-in in a webView after logging in with the SDK). Has anyone else encountered this and/or found a work around? This seems like it would be a fairly straightforward use case given that I'm not trying to launch mobile safari or something like that - it's all within the same native app. It just seems like there must be some sort of easy trick or setting that I'm missing. Maybe somehow setting cookies in the new UIWebView? or something like this?

  I am new to CSS media queries, and I was first trying to get pdf/mp3/mp4 buttons to get centered on this page whenever a mobile device is using it (http://www.mannachurch.org/portfolio-type/recycled-junk/). Keep in mind for that I am using a highly modified wordpress theme. So I tried experimenting to isolate this issue. • Server browser resolves localhost, but not server name

  I have a 2008 R2 server that I recently installed Solarwinds on. It is running IIS V7.5. I got the Solarwinds site loaded into IIS, however I can't resolve it when using the server name. It will however resolve when I put http:// localhost into the browser. I have tried editing the Hosts file to no avail. I have also played around with our DNS server to see if I can figure anything out there. I mess with the bindings in IIS, when I remove the binding for "localhosts" it stops resolving. But still get DNS lookup failed if I add the actual server name to the binding. Any ideas?

  I like to play some downloaded Shockwave Flash (.SWF) files without opening my internet browser. Sometime ago, I remember I could do it just double clicking on the SWF item. Then it was opening in a plain Shockwave window. Now XP won't play ball. I tried Folder Options > File types but couldn't find the associated player exe. How can I surpass this? Edit: There has to be some way to do this without a 3rd party software since I can already play SWFs on my browsers.
