  • Server side rules in Outlook 2007

    Using Outlook 2007 with an Exchange Server. I am trying to setup a server-side rule, but regardless of what I do, it always sets up a client-only rule. I am trying to copy a message to a folder if it comes from a certain person and the subject contains certain words. What am I missing? Update: It seems that setting the rule to mark the message read-only forces the message to be client-side. Anyway to get around that?

  • Enabling printing feature within the Terminal Server environment that is published to the internet?

    I got the home and remote office users connect to the Terminal Server on my Windows Server 2003 that I published securely through Juniper SSL VPN client applet, they use normal internet connection to access the link which pop up the Terminal Server Remote Desktop application, so my question is, how can they print out the document from within their terminal server session ? if it is going through the internal office LAN mapping the printer through Remote Desktop connection is the solution but not for this one. Any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I recently shared the puzzle of the blog post on local user group and it was appreciated by attendees. First execute the script which I have written here. Today’s script is bit different than yesterday’s script as well it will require you to do some service related activities.     I just received my new SQL Server from Dell. The server will be serve approximately 15 OLTP databases which average 10GB in size. Here are the basic specs: Dell PowerEdge R510 with up to 12 Hot Swap HDDs,LED Intel Xeon E5649 2.53GHz, 12M Cache, 5.86 GT/s QPI, 6 core (Quantity of 2) 48GB Memory (6x8GB), 1333MHz Dual Ranked RDIMMs for 2 Processors, Optimized PERC H700 Integrated RAID Controller, 1GB NV Cache 300GB 15K RPM SA SCSI 6Gbps 3.5in Hotplug Hard Drive (Quantity of 4) 600GB 15K RPM SA SCSI 6Gbps 3.5in Hotplug Hard Drive (Quantity of 6) My first thought was to use 3 arrays. OS - Raid 1 - (2)300GB T-Log - Raid 1 (2)300GB DB - Raid 5 (5) 600GB Backup - (1) 600GB - non-raided. However, I could also do the following after purchasing one more drive for backup. OS and T-Log - Raid 10 - (4)300GB DB - Raid 10 (6)600GB The hard drive space is not an issue as the databases are not that large. I'm just trying to optimize the speed of the applications using these databases. So, what would you guys recommend?

Through variaous methods (login scripts, etc) I think that I had everyone migrated off of this server and connected to the new print server. Having said that, I'd like to make sure before taking the server down :-) Is there a script that I can run to query a remote workstations in my domain to see what printer shares it is connected to?

  • JavaOne - Java SE Embedded Booth - Pactron Java Programmable Automation Controller (JPAC)

    Hi All, So at the last JavaOne we talked about developing a Java powered Programmable Automation Controller (JPAC) with our partner Pactron in Santa Clara. We actually demoed it running first at the Embedded Show in Germany this March. JPAC is based on a Marvell 88F6282 Kirkwood ARM SOC, we partnered with Hilsher from just outside Frankfurt, Germany for the mini pci ProfiBus controllers, Revolution Robotics from Corvallis, Oregon wrote the Java SE Embedded for ARM to Hilscher Linux driver interface. Revolution Robotics also designed the HTML5 application that runs on a Marvell ARM tablet to actually send and receive commands via ProfiBus to a slave device.   • MSDTC on server x is unavailable

    I have Windows Server 2003 running in a virtual machine, running some software that is trying to update a database within transactions on my Windows 7 machine (the host for the VM). On my host I have edited the settings for Local DTC by selecting the following Client and Administration Allow Remote clients Allow Remote administration Transaction manager communication Allow inbound Allow outbound No authentication required However when I try to run the software I receive this error: MSDTC on server 'x' is unavailable. Whilst searching for fixes most just suggest making sure the service is running which I have. Cheers!

  • Set Default Program for All Users on Server

    I work with a large server environment that's running Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012 now on some boxes. We have a custom-built log viewer program that associates with two file types that I'd like to set to be the default program for all users across all boxes, so new users don't have to set the default program themselves on every box they log into. Ideally I'd like to have a simple registry script we could push out to all machines at once. I realize this likely means changing the registry entries for either HKCR or HKLM for the file extensions, but adding the program location with %1 extension to \shell\open\command value in HKLM simply opens the program and does not also load the log file. Am I just missing an open and play setting, or am I looking at this entirely wrong? (And I know the script will need to be different for 2003 and 2008, but changing the version for two scripts isn't hard) Thanks!

    My server 2008 has mysql databases, SQL Server databases, and multiple websites. How do I back this information up? I have setup the dedicated server to have two 300GB hard drives and they are both mirrored. I want to make sure that I have a backup somewhere else as well. If it's not my home server, I don't mind backing up somewhere else either but I want to make sure I can restore it completely in case of a failure.

  • SQL Server 2008 - Shrinking the Transaction Log - Any way to automate?

    I went in and checked my Transaction log the other day and it was something crazy like 15GB. I ran the following code: USE mydb GO BACKUP LOG mydb WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY GO DBCC SHRINKFILE(mydb_log,8) GO Which worked fine, shrank it down to 8MB...but the DB in question is a Log Shipping Publisher, and the log is already back up to some 500MB and growing quick. Is there any way to automate this log shrinking, outside of creating a custom "Execute T-SQL Statement Task" Maintenance Plan Task, and hooking it on to my log backup task? If that's the best way then fine...but I was just thinking that SQL Server would have a better way of dealing with this. I thought it was supposed to shrink automatically whenever you took a log backup, but that's not happening (perhaps because of my log shipping, I don't know). Here's my current backup plan: Full backups every night Transaction log backups once a day, late morning (maybe hook the Log shrinking onto this...doesn't need to be shrank every day though) Or maybe I just run it once a week, after I run a full backup task? What do you all think?

    I'm looking for a fast, embeddable key/value store with cursor semantics over key collections (or a simple embeddable DB) that I can use in .NET and mono. Need it to be open-source, would prefer an MIT or Apache style license over a GPL license. Not opposed to a library that needs bindings to be written, as long as binaries are available for both windows and linux. Options considered: SQLite - has bindings and native implementation, but single-threaded and not all that fast Embedded InnoDB - no .NET bindings i can find and it's GPLv2 Berkley DB - no .NET bindings i can find Tokyo Cabinet - no .NET bindings i can find and problematic to build on windows MadCow Memory-mapped data structures - GPLv2 Is there an option better than the above that i'm missing, or bindings for the above i don't know about?

  • Embedded file system and sqlite

    I'm working on an embedded project that has no file system, and our kludge of a database has ballooned in functionality. It's now so inefficient, we can't stand it any longer. I'm trying to figure out if there's built-in support for a flat file system in SQLite. I've dug around http://sqlite.org for a while now, but haven't found anything specifically covering it. Has anyone found a supported implementation written in C? It seems like such a straightforward request, but I can't find anything written about it. We have plenty of memory available. In a perfect world, I'd like to just set aside a large portion of it, pass the FS a pointer, then let the FS/SQLite library just use what it wants.

    Hi guys, I have an python error AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'initialize' I am running Python 2.6.2 on Solaris 10 UNIX and recently installed the pythonldap 2.3.9. The script is very basic, only has these 2 lines. Can anyone tell me why??     I am looking at the advantages of threadpooling design pattern in Embedded systems. I have listed few advantages, please go through them, comment and please suggest any other possible advantages that I am missing. Scalability in systems like ucos-2 where there is limit on number of threads. Increasing capability of any task when necessary like Garbage collection (say in normal systems if garbage collection is running under one task, its not possible to speed it up, but in threadpooling we can easily speed it up). Can set limit on the max system load. Please suggest if I am missing anything.

  • Embedded Prolog Interpreter/Compiler for Java

    I'm working on an application in Java, that needs to do some complex logic rule deductions as part of its functionality. I'd like to code my logic deductions in Prolog or some other logic/constraint programming language, instead of Java, as I believe the resulting code will be significantly simpler and more maintainable. I Googled for embedded Java implementations on Prolog, and found number of them, each with very little documentation. My (modest) selection criteria are: should be embeddable in Java (e.g. can be bundled up with my java package instead of requiring any native installations on external programs) simple interface to use from Java (for initiating deductions, inspecting results, and adding rules) come with at least a few examples on how to use it doesn't necessarely have to be Prolog, but other logic/constraint programming languages with the above criteria would suit my needs, too. What choices do I have and what are their advantages and disadvantages?

  • Microsecond (or one ms) time resolution on an embedded device (Linux Kernel)

    Hey guys, I have a kernel module I've built that requires at least 1 ms time resolution. I currently use do_gettimeofday() but I'm concerned that this won't work once I move my module to an embedded device. The device has a 180 Mz processor (MIPS) and the default HZ value in the kernel is 100. Thus using jiffies will only give me at best 10 ms resolution. That won't cut it. What I'd like to know is if do_gettimeofday() is based on the timer interrupt (HZ). Can it be guaranteed to provide at least 1 ms of resolution? Thanks!

    Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 (let us call this source database server in this question discussion), and in SSMS, I have created a linked server to another SQL Server 2008 database (let us call this destination database server in this question discussion). When I issue statement -- select * from [linked server name].[database name].[dbo].[table name], error will be returned, Linked server "ZS" The OLE DB access interface "SQLNCLI10" returned "NON-CLUSTERED and NOT INTEGRATED "Index" ix_foo_basic_info_nf ", which is incorrect bookmark ordinal 0. When I issue statement -- select * from openquery([linked server name],'select * from [table name]'), there will be no errors, any ideas what is wrong? thanks in advance, George

  • IAR Embedded Workbench - setting endian-ness of variable

    I'm using IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM (ARM7TDMI-S) and the majority of my work is done using little-endian format. However, I saw in the manual that I can do something like : __big_endian int i, j; to declare those two variables as big endian (while the rest of the app as little endian). This seems like a fantastic feature, but when I try to compile, I always get the errror: Error[Pa002]: the type attribute "__big_endian" is not allowed on this declaration. The big endian line above is copied directly from the manual, but it does not work. This is a great feature of the compiler and would make life a big easier. Any ideas how to get it working? I have my language conformance set to 'Allow IAR extensions' on the C/C++ Compiler options tab on the IDE options.
