• migration from jboss4.0.5GA to jboss5.1.0 GA

  Hi, Currently we have migrated from jboss4.0.5GA to jboss5.1.0 GA.Our application runs under jboss4.0.5GA well.The reason for migration to enable web service.   I have worked with Oracle VM templates and most recently with Amazon Machine Images (AMI). The similarities in the functionality and capabilities they provide are striking. Just take a look a the definitions: An Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is a special type of pre-configured operating system and virtual application software which is used to create a virtual machine within the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). It serves as the basic unit of deployment for services delivered using EC2. AWS AMIs Oracle VM Templates provide an innovative approach to deploying a fully configured software stack by offering pre-installed and pre-configured software images. Use of Oracle VM Templates eliminates the installation and configuration costs, and reduces the ongoing maintenance costs helping organizations achieve faster time to market and lower cost of operations. Oracle VM Templates Other things they have in common: 1. Both have 35 Oracle images or templates: AWS AMI pre-built images Oracle pre-built VM Templates 2. Both allow to build your own images or templates: A. How can I achieve this? This is not a PHP code to use PHP's writePDF modules. • Wordpress issue with footer

  I've been trying to turn my simple html/css site into a wordpress site. my big issue which no one seem to be able to solve appears in my footer. The footer is pretty much ignoring everything and just staying in the top of the site ( like it was a part of my header). All my files is split into 3 files. A header.php a footer.php and the page.php (one for each site).   Maya's preferred format for saving off a UV Snapshot is its own .IFF format, so I was hoping to find a plugin allowing Gimp 2 (Windows) to read it. I've found plenty of plugins for different linux distros, but none are win-friendly (that I can discern - admittedly I'm no whiz with Gimp). Does anyone know of one? Alternately, .tiff seems to work just fine, so if there's no good reason to bother fiddling with IFFs, I'd appreciate the input there, too. (sorry if this isn't on-topic)

• Should my blog be directly on my website?

  I have my newly launched website at www.slicify.com (redirects to a secure subdomain). I currently have a separate blog on WordPress: slicify.wordpress.com for a couple of reasons: I don't really want to mix my site code (it's a complex ecommerce site written in ASP.Net) with blog code, for ease of maintenance etc. WordPress is already great at blogs - seems silly to reinvent the wheel by trying to integrate blog functionality into my site However is keeping my blog on a separate domain going to hurt me in terms of PageRank or traffic? FWIW: while it's early days, I can see from Google Analytics that a good deal of referral traffic is already coming from my WordPress site to my main site, so at least that seems to be drawing potential users in.

  I've recently applied for an Amazon affiliate program (which was accepted) as I'm planning on advertising books I read, on my website. Before going live with my website, I would like to: 1 -test the whole affiliate program to make sure it's working properly. 2 -buy the books I will review and promote on my website under my own affiliate program in order to get some cash back and therefore save money. To do so, I thought about setting up a simple HTML page (on the actual domain I applied for) which will just list the products I will buy before going live. That way I test, get some cash back, and don't expose my website (Brand, content...) before going live. Can I do this without having my account suspended by Amazon (i.e. won't Amazon think I only applied to the program to get some cash back, will Amazon be happy with receiving affiliate traffic from an almost empty website...) ?

  I have translated the MailChimp provided MailChimp List Subscribe Form plugin for wordpress. I used poEdit to edit. At wp-config.php I have language set as ar_SA. Which works for the themes I have used in two Bilingual sites. But the mo file had to be renamed to ar.mo I got two problems: While updating the catalog poEdit crashes. But I could save the .po and generated .mo successfully. The translated .mo doesn't appear for the confirmation success or error messages through the Ajax calls which its supposed to. • AWS Load Balancer with a static IP address

  I have a set-up running on Amazon cloud with a couple of EC2 Instances running through a load balancer. It is important that the site has a unique(static) IP or set of IPs as I'm plugging in 3rd party APIs which only accept requests made from IPs which have been added to their whitelist. So basically unless we can give these 3rd parties a static IP or range of IPs that the requests from the site will always come from then we would be unable to make any calls to them. Anyone knows how to achieve this as I know that Elastic IPs are not compatible with load balancers? If I were to look up the IP of the load balancer DNS name (e.g. dualstack.awseb-BAMobile-ENV-xxxxxxxxx.eu-west-1.elb.amazonaws.com resolves to 200.200.200.200) would that IP be Static? Any help/advise is greatly appreciated guys.

• How can I make Amazon SES the default method of sending mail from my server?

  I'd like to start using Amazon SES for all emails from our server. We have a few freelance designers with PHP hosting, some Django/Python web apps and also some system utilities which send emails. So I'd like to have PHP's mail function, the command line mail command and our python apps all be able to use it, preferably without having to set them all up in their own way. I think what I need is to have something like Postfix running on localhost and using SES for it's delivery but I don't know how to do that. Amazon's docs state I need to setup my mail transfer agent (MTA) so that it invokes the ses-send-email.pl script. I have the script but I'm not sure how to achieve this. Am I on the right track? If so, how can I configure Postfix to use that script?

  I have an instance of an application running in the cloud on Amazon EC2 instance, and I need to connect it from my local Ubuntu. It works fine on one of local ubuntu and also laptop. I got message "Permission denied (publickey)" when trying to access SSH to EC2 on another local Ubuntu. It's so strange to me. I'm thinking some sort of problems with security settings on the Amazon EC2 which has limited IPs access to one instance or certificate may need to regenerate. Does anyone know a solution?

• Can I redeploy Citrix Xencenter Images in Amazon EC2?

  Okay - I'm running Citrix Xencenter in my datacenter. My understanding is that Amazon EC2 is a very customized flavor of Xencenter. Based on that, I would like to know whether there is a method to utilize the .VHD disk images generated by Citrix Xencenter in the Amazon EC2 cloud. I realize that I can install tools into the OS and make my own images but that is not what I'm looking for. I'd like the efficiency of taking the images and redeploying them, or at least converting then redeploying. I basically would like to have all my backups running in the cloud, so that is my motivation.

• Amazon EC2: how to find out detailed CPU usage?

  I am running several EC2 instances, and I want to know the exact work my CPU is doing. On "normal" machines I am doing this with munin and its CPU plugin which looks at the statistics provided by /proc/stat. On my EC2 machines however, I get incorrect graphs. The machine has two cores, so the max CPU usage should be 200% - however it gets as high as 400%: I know that I should use Amazon CloudWatch to see the total CPU usage (and this is the official and recommended from Amazon way to do this), but I am specifically looking on how the CPU usage is spend (e.g. system, user, iowait). Is there a way to get detailed CPU usage statistics on EC2 instances?
