• Visual Studio - how to create two projects using the same sources

  My solution consists of 2 executable projects and a couple dlls. Project1 is a Smart Device Project, Project2 is a Windows Forms Project. Both projects use the same libraries, the reason of that is I want to test my libraries on PC before I deploy it on the device. The problem is that the DLL project type can be Smart Device Class Library or Class Library, not both. I cannot add a reference from SD project to WF and vice versa. I was able to add reference from SD project to a dll file (generated from Class Library project) instead of the project itself, but for some reason I got the message "cannot load XXX type from YYY assembly". It doesn't depend on my code, because when I created separate project for the same sources, everything was fine. The only solution I've found is to create 2 types of projects for each library, but I don't know how to make 2 projects based on the same sources.

  I would like to create a method that takes as a argument an event an adds eventHandler to it to handle it properly. Edit: I've noticed with help of you that this code worked fine, and returned to my project and noticed that when I pass event declared in my class it works, but when I pass event from other class id still does not work. Updated above example to reflect this issue. What I get is this error: The event 'System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.Click' can only appear on the left hand side of += or -=

• Taking web page screen shot in Windows 8 Metro app

  I'm trying to take screen shot of web page in Windows 8 Metro app. So far the only helpful control is the WebView. Unfortunately it does not contain any method like DrawToBitmap (known from Forms WebBrowser control). Am I missing something? Different approach would focus on injecting some JS (e.g. html2canvas) to page rendered in WebView but I don't think it is possible due to security reasons. I would greatly appreciate any help.

  I need to document a MS-Access application that was created, developed and maintained completely by a power-user over 10 years. This is an interesting situation because what they want is a manual so that a future developer can come in without prior domain knowledge and make changes to the frontend or the backend in a timely manner. There are a few questions on my mind for this little project: What is a good manual design creating application? Microsoft Word doesn't quite cut it. What kind of things would you, the developer, need to know in order to make changes to things like forms, reports, tables or other Access objects? Anything else I missed? Any pitfalls?

  I am fairly new to MVC but not sure exactly which Redirect... replaces the standard redirect used in WebForms ie the standard Response.Redirect() For instance, I need to redirect to other pages in a couple of scenarios: 1) WHen the user logs out (Forms signout in Action) I want to redirect to a login page 2) In a Controller or base Controller event eg Initialze, I want to redirect to another page (AbsoluteRootUrl + Controller + Action) It seems that multiple redirects get called in some cases which causes errors, something to do with the fact a page is already being redirected? How can cancel the current request and just redirect?

• Determite when and which a character added or deleted to/from a Text Box.

  I have a simple text box in a WPF application. I need to know when a character was added/deleted in the text box, which character and where it was added or deleted. I thought to use the TextBox.KeyDown event, but it has some problems: I can't know where the character was added or deleted. I have no idea how to determite which character was added (from the KeyEventArgs). Any ideas? I don't care to use a completely different solution from what I thought. In addition, I've just started this project so I don't care to use Windows Forms instead of WPF if your solution requires it. Thank you.

• i can't see a context menu of WPF windows app through VNC

  I can open a context menu but cannot see the opened menu list through VNC. (I know that i can open the context menu by checking the vnc server machine directly) I tested on different vnc servers / clients machines (although all of them are windows Vista), and different wpf app, but still I cant see any menu list. Is this a reported problem? I found some information about wpf problem relating to windows desktop, but i dont know about vnc. ADDED : I dont have this problem on windows native apps or windows forms apps under my vnc environment.

• WinForms ToolTip will not re-appear after first use.

  I have a Forms C# application where I would like to use a toolTip on one of the text boxes. I Initialize the tool-tip in the constructor of the Form class, and it works the first time. So when I hover over the text box with my mouse it works, but once the toolTip times out and it goes away, it does not re-appear when I move my mouse away and back onto the control. I would expect it to come back and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.   Im pretty new to coding, heres my problem. Results->Text = "G55 > Y" + System::Convert::ToString(destY); "Results" is a System.Windows.Forms.Textbox "multiline btw", or so says VS. That line works fine, but i need a "new line or CR" at the end, so that i can repeat that line with different Literals and a different var in ToString. For days now ive tried different syntax's ive read about, and i cant get it to take any of them. Or even a complete different way to input text into Results-Text that would allow for tidy multiline use. Sidenote: since im using -Text and System::Convert::ToString in VC, would this code be considered just c++ or .net or CLI? to tighten my searches.

  i got a little problem with a wordpress site that uses contact form 7 and android browser (at least android v1.5). when a user submits the cf7 form (using ajax followed by a js redirect) and tries to return to the forms page later (using the back button as well as opening the form's url) the download prompt for a 'downloadfile.bin' appears. this behavior can not be reproduced on any other mobile or desktop browsers. could anyone shed some light on this issue? thank you in advance!

• What to do with a big image that's slowing website loading down significantly

  Hi I'm working on a website that's already been designed by someone else. The designer has used a big image (900x700 100KB) which contains a big logo right across the top, then the background for two columns. This image loads every time a page is loaded as it forms the basis for the website. What should I do with it to improve loading time? I'm considering splitting it up into two or more images, especially the logo on the top. Does splitting up images like that decrease loading time in any significant way? Thanks -edit: Also, all the images are .jpg, would changing this to .gif or .png help anything?

• Hide other domains' menus from node edit form on a Drupal site using domain access

  I'm in the process of making some improvements to a live Drupal site that's using the Domain Access module to run a number of microsites. I'm trying to find a way of restricting the menus a user can post content to from the node edit screen. A user on one of the domains should only be able to post content to menus associated with that domain. Is there a simple way of achieving this? I'm guessing there are some hooks I could use, but so far I have been unable to identify them. I'd prefer not to have to install further modules to achieve this and to be able to add some code to the current site to alter the forms. The site is struggling with the large number of modules we've had to install on it already.

  Hello, I recently heard of the jQuery datalink plugin and wondered if I should be using if for the following: I have a an inbox in my app that consists of the following: Inbox (index) - List of Items (list of mails) Inbox (show) Item Viewer (1 mail) Inbox Unread Counter The challenge I'm having now is a user can mark a mail as read/unread in either view which makes keeping the counter accurate challenging. Can datalink help with this? If so how? Also, I read that datalink requires forms is that true? Or can I bind the links to anything like 0 and anytime a mailitem changes from read to unread it would automatically update? Thanks

  I have a large .NET based system running within the company intranet, which allows winforms users to see some live calculated numbers and a custom winforms control drawn live (but not real-time). The Forms users can also affect the operation of the system. I would like to just show the live numbers on a website, along with the custom control. Nothing needs to come back from the web user, as the web app is meant to be just for monitoring. All the numbers can be calculated at the server. • Using threads and event handlers within a WCF Web Service

  While making a WCF Web Service, I came across a problem while using a method with a webbrowser control. The method starts a thread and uses a webbrowser control to fill in some forms and click further, waiting for a event handler to fire and return a answer I need. The method is tested and works within its own enviroment, but used in a WCF Web Service enviroment, the event handlers just won't fire. A result of that is the waiting manualresetevent not ending. Is this because of the new thread or because of the bad event handling of the web service? If yes, what is a reasonable solution?

• Continuous Deployment with an ASP.NET website?

  I have a website in C#/ASP.NET that is currently in development. When we are in production, I would like to do releases frequently over the course of the day, as we fix bugs and add features (like this: http://toni.org/2010/05/19/in-praise-of-continuous-deployment-the-wordpress-com-story/). If you upload a new version of the site or even change a single file, it kicks out the users that are currently logged in and makes them start over any forms and such. Is there a secret to being able to do deployments without interfering with users for .NET sites?

What is better: Create view with one method and template that has form and refer facebox to this view. Create static HTML file in public directory and refer facebox to this static page. What I want to achieve is: Easy verification (like "user name already taken", "password confirmation doesn't match password" and stuff like that).   I've been slowly transitioning from a traditional web forms architecture to the MVP pattern (Passive View). So far, it's been fairly easy to implement b/c the views I've dealt with have all employed a classic PostBack model. However, I've come across my first view that will refresh portions of itself via web services. I can't grok where the web service should live (Presenter I think) or how to expose that asmx end point to my View while still maintaining the clean separation of concerns/testability that MVP affords me. I've searched far and wide for some examples on how this might be implemented and have come up with nothing. Please help!
