  • fileToSTring keeps on returning " "

    - by karikari
    I managed to get this code to compile with out error. But somehow it did not return the strings that I wrote inside file1.txt and file.txt that I pass its path through str1 and str2. My objective is to use this open source library to measure the similarity between strings contains inside 2 text files. Inside the its Javadoc, its states that ... public static java.lang.StringBuffer fileToString(java.io.File f) private call to load a file and return its content as a string. Parameters: f - a file for which to load its content Returns: a string containing the files contents or "" if empty or not present Here's is my modified code trying to use the FileLoader function, but fails to return the strings inside the file. The end result keeps on returning me the "" . I do not know where is my fault: package uk.ac.shef.wit.simmetrics; import java.io.File; import uk.ac.shef.wit.simmetrics.similaritymetrics.*; import uk.ac.shef.wit.simmetrics.utils.*; public class SimpleExample { public static void main(final String[] args) { if(args.length != 2) { usage(); } else { String str1 = "arg[0]"; String str2 = "arg[1]"; File objFile1 = new File(str1); File objFile2 = new File(str2); FileLoader obj1 = new FileLoader(); FileLoader obj2 = new FileLoader(); str1 = obj1.fileToString(objFile1).toString(); str2 = obj2.fileToString(objFile2).toString(); System.out.println(str1); System.out.println(str2); AbstractStringMetric metric = new MongeElkan(); //this single line performs the similarity test float result = metric.getSimilarity(str1, str2); //outputs the results outputResult(result, metric, str1, str2); } } private static void outputResult(final float result, final AbstractStringMetric metric, final String str1, final String str2) { System.out.println("Using Metric " + metric.getShortDescriptionString() + " on strings \"" + str1 + "\" & \"" + str2 + "\" gives a similarity score of " + result); } private static void usage() { System.out.println("Performs a rudimentary string metric comparison from the arguments given.\n\tArgs:\n\t\t1) String1 to compare\n\t\t2)String2 to compare\n\n\tReturns:\n\t\tA standard output (command line of the similarity metric with the given test strings, for more details of this simple class please see the SimpleExample.java source file)"); } }

  • Python or Ruby for webbased Artificial Intelligence?

    - by Pieter Kubben
A new web application may require adding Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the future, e.g. using ProLog. I know it can be done from a Java environment, but I am wondering about the opportunities with modern web languages like Ruby or Python. The latter is considered to be "more scientific" (at least used in that environment), but using Google there seems to be a preliminary ProLog implementation for both. Any suggestions on modern (open source) web languages (like Python or Ruby) in combination with AI?

  • Algorithm to merge adjacent rectangles into polygon

    - by Glitch
I guess that my problem is related to "convex hull", but no the same. All shapes in the drawing are rectangles with same width and height. Many are adjacent to each other. I want to combine those adjacent rectangles into polygons. Unlike "convex hull", the resuled polygons could be "hollow" inside. Is there any open source algorithm available?

  • Useful Java Annotations

    - by Jon
I'm interested in finding out exactly which Java annotations people think are most useful during development. This doesn't necessarily have to limited to the core Java API, you may include annotations you found in third party libraries or annotations you've developed yourself (make sure you include a link to the source). I'm really interested in common development tasks rather than knowing why the @ManyToOne(optional=false) in JPA is awesome... Include the annotation and a description of why it's useful for general development.

  • BOM in a PHP page auto generated by Wordpress

    - by Paolo63
I admin two different blogs. They are both wordpress 2.8.6 (so they have exactly the same source code, plugins apart) but they are located on two different hosting platform (hostmonster.com and aruba.it). To explain my problem I've dumped with SmartSniff a session with each one of the sites. Here is the dump from hostmonster: GET /blog/paolo/ HTTP/1.1 Host: www.e-venturi.com Accept-Encoding: identity Accept-Language: en-us Accept: text/html, text/plain, text/xml, image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/x-icon,image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-powerpoint, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/msword, */* User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0;) HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Sat, 28 Nov 2009 23:47:38 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8l DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.11 X-Pingback: http://www.e-venturi.com/blog/paolo/xmlrpc.php Vary: Accept-Encoding Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 a6 <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> and now from aruba: GET /blog/ HTTP/1.1 Host: www.cubanite.net Accept-Encoding: identity Accept-Language: en-us Accept: text/html, text/plain, text/xml, image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/x-icon,image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/vnd.ms-powerpoint, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/msword, */* User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0;) HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Sat, 28 Nov 2009 23:49:19 GMT Server: Apache/2.2 X-Pingback: http://www.cubanite.net/blog/xmlrpc.php Vary: Accept-Encoding Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 100b ...<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> (note: a6 and 100b are the packet size reported by SmartSniff) Ok, the big difference are the three dots in front of the <!DOCTYPE in aruba. They are the UTF-8 BOM (0xef 0xbb 0xbf). Being the same PHP source on both the servers, why does it appears only on one server ? The content is generated so the post author can't deliberately insert a BOM and I've verified the template to be BOM free too. Naturally there are different PHP and Apache versions on the servers... what can I check or set to diagnose and resolve the problem ? By the way I don't want the BOM. Many thanks in advance.

  • Automatic clicking on Link build with Javascript by using watin

    - by BEC Roland
I am trying to be able to automate the process of clicking on links built in javascript using watin. In the source code of web page, the links look like href="#", so i think these links works with Javascript. Runscript doesn't work with a Javascript code like "link.click". When i use a "link.flash()" i can see the link flash so i'm sure the script click on the links but there is not effect ( and the script doens't crash ) . Have you any ideas for resolve this problem ?

  • JMeter - successfull HTTPS recording?

Greetings, I'm utilizing Jmeter 2.3, which now supports "attempt HTTPS spoofing" under the Proxy Server element. I've tried on several different servers, and have had no success. Has anyone been able to successfully record from an HTTPS source with this setting? Or barring successfully recording, can anyone share a work-around? When available, I simply have HTTPS turned off at the server level, but this is not always feasible. THoughts?

  • Minimum set of Delphi 2010 files to move to a SVN repository for compiling

    - by bcrooker
We are using Subversion for SCC. We have a great deal of our build environment in our repository so that we can check a given version out and rebuild it fairly close to what was in use at that time. We have the following in there now: InnoSetup binaries Third Party Components VCL (including Indy) Our Source (of course) Finalbuilder project files The only thing missing is the binaries for Delphi itself - I am wondering if there is a minimum set of files that can be copied to the repository and run. Thanks

  • PHP find .tpl files

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Hi, I have some errors in my output source code, I'm wondering if there is a tool that is able to look through the site and find which .tpl file my error is in? That, or at least give me a list of .tpls to look through. I can't seem to find this error and the site isn't very well documented. I'm not the best PHP programmer, I'd be looking for an online resource or something pretty simple. Thanks very much.

  • Two Questions about the WebBrowser Control

    - by Rudi
How can I get an HtmlElement if the source code doesn't have the "id=''", but only has the "name=''". Document.GetElementById() doesn't work, and Document. All[""] doesn't work (obviously, because there is no ID. How can I simulate a form post? Question 1 is more important because I found it harder to search. Question 2 I think i can get with more searching.

  • Provide a URI as a parameter for an ODBC or OleDB provider connection string?

    - by womp
Is there any way of specifying a URI (rather than a physical path) as the "Data Source" parameter in an OleDB connection string, or the "Dbq" parameter in an ODBC connection string, such that the default ADO.Net providers will work with it? I've tried file://, and it's a no go, so I just wanted to confirm whether or not this is possible. I'm guessing not, but any confirmation or documentation links would be appreciated.

  • Testing chess game

    - by mousey
There is a software for chess game and we need to test the following method: boolean canMoveTo(int x, int y) x and y are the coordinates of the chess board and it returns true/false whether the piece can move to that position or not. We need to test this method for a pawn piece and you can set up the board any way you like prior to running a test case. Source code is not provided
