  • Overlay of multiple colors in ImageJ

    Hi everyone, I'm writing a little plugin for imageJ and I am drawing several regions as an overlay on the image. I'm using this code: ImagePlus imp = getImage(); Overlay ov = new Overlay(); for (int r=0; r<regions.length; r++) { ov.add(regions[r]); } imp.setOverlay(ov); Where regions is an array of Roi. This works as intended and draws the regions in the (hurting to my eyes) standard ImageJ cyan used for overlays. I would like to draw one particular region in another colour, but I cannot seem to find a way to do it. I found that you can change the colour of the whole overlay, but I need two colours in the same overlay. Any ideas? Thanks in advance nico

The object is successfully saved when I putObject, but I don't see the metadata after I get the object.   • How to figure out which jars are needed?

    How can I systematically determine which jars I'll need, and thus should include in my pom.xml file (I'm using maven as my project management tool)? When learning spring, to keep things simple, added all the jars (even the ones I never used) to the classpath. Right now for the most part, I'm guessing which jars to include. For example, I know in my spring configuration file, I have: <tx:annotation-driven /> <context:annotation-config /> <aop:aspectj-autoproxy /> So, I guess I'll need: spring-context-x.x.x.jar, spring-tx-x.x.x.jar, spring-aop-x.x.x.jar Thanks.

  • log4j vs. System.out.println - logger advantages?

    Hi! I'm newly using log4j in a project. A fellow programmer told me that using System.out.println is considered bas style and that log4j is something like standard for logging matters nowadays. We do lots of JUnit testing - System.out stuff turns out to be harder to test. Therefore I began utilizing log4j for a Console controller class, that's just handling commandline parameters. // some logger config org.apache.log4j.BasicConfigurator.configure(); Logger logger = LoggerFactory.getLogger(Console.class); Category cat = Category.getRoot(); Seems to work: logger.debug("String"); Produces: 1 [main] DEBUG project.prototype.controller.Console - String I got two questions regarding this: From my basic understanding using this logger should provide me comfortable options to write a logfile with timestamps - instead of spamming the console - if debug mode is enabled at the logger? Why is System.out.println harder to test? I searched stackoverflow and found a testing recipe. So I wonder what kind of advantage I really get by using log4j.

  • Reconnect to GPRS from J2ME

    Dear All, I have a little problem. I have developed a midlet application that call some webservices through internet. I'm using cell phones with GPRS connection. For some time it runs as I wanted, run the apps, call the webservices through the GPRS, it returns the result, call the webservices again, and so on. But say, I call the webservices and after the apps return the result I needed, I left it for a while. The next time I continue to access the webservices, the apps takes a while to connect through the GPRS. In nokia, it is marked with a G in a box. In SE it is marked with a glowing globe. This 'G' in the box or the glowing globe will appear after a while or won't appear at all, but the apps is still trying to connect to the internet. Does it come from my apps or it come from the cell phone? And could I know [or the apps knows] that at the moment the apps tries to connect the GPRS is ready? Thanks a lot for your responses...

    I am getting this weird case when querying Postgres 8.4 for some records with Blobs (of type OIDs) with Hibernate. The query does return all right but when my code wants to read the content of the BLOB with the simple code below, it gets 0 bytes back public static byte[] readBlob(Blob blob) throws Exception { InputStream is = null; try { is = blob.getBinaryStream(); return org.apache.commons.io.IOUtils.toByteArray(is); } finally { if (is != null) try { is.close(); } catch(Exception e) {} } } Funny think is that I am getting this behavior only since I've started adding more then one such records to the table. The underlying JDBC library is type 3 (postgresq 8.4-701). Can someone give me a hint as to how to solve this issue? Thanks Peter

  • Strategy Design Pattern -- *dynamic* !!!

    My application will have different strategies for my objects. What's the best way of implementing that? I would really love the case when we can make strategy classes implementation dynamically loaded from, say, some relational database. Not sure how do that better, though. What's the best approach? Idea is that say we want to apply to object MyObj strategy Strategy123 then we just load from database by ID 123 the object, deserialize it, get the Strategy class, and use it with MyObj. The maintenance while sounds easier from the first look can be a pain in the long run if Strategy interfaces changes, etc. What can I do also? I want to find solution when I should be keeping Strategy classes in codebase -- just for the sake that I don't need code change and re-deployment of the application if my Strategy changes, or I add new strategy. Please advise!

    When you have a controller that does logic with services and DAO's that may throw an unrecoverable exception, what is the best practice in dealing with those method calls? Currently an app I'm working on has very lengthy try catch methods that simply err.out exception messages, this doesn't seem very robust and I think that this code smells, is there any cookie cutter best practice for handling this in spring-mvc?

  • Using AWT components inside a JInnerFrame (for JDesktopPane)

    Hello, is there a way to hack bugs related to adding an AWT component (in my case a PApplet, so a processing language sketch) inside a JInternalFrame? It works but not as intended, since it flickers and dragging the frame causes repaint issues.. reading around it seems that, althrough it's possible to mix heavyweight (AWT) and lightweight (Swing) components some problems seem to be unavoidable.. is it true?     I have a Tomcat Application Server that is configured to create a memory dump on OOM, and it is started with -Xmx1024M, so a Gigabyte should be available to him. Now I found one such dump and it contains only 260MB of unretained memory. How is it possible that the dump is so much smaller than the size he should have available?

    Hi, I've got a value object, which stores info for example amount. The getAmount() getter returns amount in cents. However in various places, we need to get amount in dollar. There are 2 approaches I can think of: write a convert method and place it in a utility class. add a getAmountInDollar() getter in the value object. I prefer the second approach. What do you think? What are pros and cons of both approaches?

  • all individual panels are not shown inside root panel

    Respected sir/madam, I want to add multiple jpanels to jpanel.So i added a root panel to jscrollpane.and then added all individual jpanels to this root panel.I made jscrollpane's scrolling policy as needed.i.e HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED,VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED. But the problem is all individual panels are not shown inside root panel. I am using javasound and have an AudioInputStream of format PCM_SIGNED 8000.0 Hz, 16 bit, stereo, 4 bytes/frame, little-endian Using AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(target_format, original_stream) produces an 'IllegalArgumentException: Unsupported Conversion' when the target_format is PCM_SIGNED 8000.0 Hz, 16 bit, mono, 2 bytes/frame, little-endian Is it possible to convert this stream manually after every read() call? And if yes, how? In general, how can you compare two formats and tell if a conversion is possible?

  • httpClient proxy support in apache commons 3.1

    I am using apache commons 3.1 to implement httpClient with proxy support. I am trying to connect to a remote host through proxy. The proxy server is configured without any authentication, however the the remote host is configured with authentication. When I am passing the proxy parameters through properties file, it gives warning while execution: WARN - Required proxy credentials not available for BASIC @xx.xx.xx.xx WARN - Preemptive authentication requested but no default proxy credentials availble But the execution goes ahead. On the other hand when I am passing the proxy parameters through the JVM arguments then the again the same warning is given and the execution is stopped. Is there any specific reason for this behavior? Is there any difference in passing the proxy parameters through properties file and through JVM arg?   • Setting log level of message at runtime in slf4j

    When using log4j, the Logger.log(Priority p, Object message) method is available and can be used to log a message at a log level determined at runtime. We're using this fact and this tip to redirect stderr to a logger at a specific log level. slf4j doesn't have a generic log() method that I can find. Does that mean there's no way to implement the above?
