• How do you delete a directory you don't own in an NFS directory you do?

  There should be a simple answer to this, but I can't find it. ~me/work>ls -la drwxrwxr-x 3 me mygroup . drwxrwxr-x 3 me mygroup .. drwxrwxr-x 3 me mygroup folder1 drwxr-xr-x 3 person2 mygroup folder2 This is in my home directory, which is an automounted NFS. Somebody in my group created folder2 in my home directory and then left for vacation. I can't delete the folder... I can't move it... can't change permissions on it. How can I get rid of it? My sysadmin has no clue.

• How can I find which logon script is being run?

  I'm having an issue with network drives. Suddenly some computers and users aren't getting their mapped network drives from the logon script. I am NOT a domain admin, I don't have permission to login to the domain controller. And I know very little about Active Directory. The issue seems random, some users this day, different users tomorrow. Some computers run fine and some won't map no matter who logs in. They are mixed OS's XP (SP3), Vista, and 7. I was looking at the domain in windows explorer and I have found the batch file(s) that maps the drives in several locations, how do I know which one is actually being ran? The .bat file is located in \DOMAIN\NETLOGON\script.bat and \DOMAIN\SYSVOL\DOMAIN\scripts\script.bat and \DOMAIN\SYSVOL\DOMAIN\policies\GUID(Right? It's a crazy string)\User\Scripts\Logon\script.bat So, how can I figure out which one is actually being ran per computer or user? Cause they are all slightly different from each other and one of them doesn't map properly. Do all the files in NETLOGON get ran? Cause there are 15+ files in there. Or is it specified in Group Policy which one(s) get ran? EDIT: I am able to access a program called Active Directory Users and Computers, but the properties tab for any user is blank for the logon script.

  I have systat version 7.0.2 and the /etc/sysconfig/sysstat has the entry HISTORY=27, this is on a redhat enterprise server 5.6, the cron setup for this is # run system activity accounting tool every minute * * * * * root /usr/lib64/sa/sa1 1 1 # generate a daily summary of process accounting at 23:53 53 23 * * * root /usr/lib64/sa/sa2 -A I get the following error from the cron sa2 -A find: /var/log/sa/sa13: No such file or directory, Looking at the directory /var/log/sa the files are created from sa01 through sa10 (sa1 created on sep1, sa2 created on sep2 and so on), then the rest of the files are from sa14 through to sa 31 (created from Aug 14 to Aug 31). I have not made any changes on the server so I am not sure why I am getting these error messages and is there a way to fix this?. Someone suggested creating empty files from sa11 through sa14 to fix this but I am not sure if this might mess up something .

• cannot write to certain directory using CentOS distro

  I have a script that will generate an image then upload it in a certain directory. The script works fine, however uploading it in the CentOS server, it won't work anymore. By debugging, I have found out that this is a permission denied issue. I am forced to chmod -R 777 certain_directory to make it work. I am not convince with this, I can't set the directory ownership to www-data I'm used to when I am using Debian. Any workaround for this?

• Get Directory Size through SFTP

  A client has a managed websever; on this server is an e-commerce script and part of the script dumps a backup every week. The backup is stored on the web server (not in the HTTP route). The ISP takes a copy, and my clients wants to take a copy too. What I am trying to do is before downloading the file I want to be able to calculate the backup directory size - but the only access I have is through SFTP. Is it possible to easily get the directory size and then use this in a PowerShell Script. NOTE: I have written an automatic download script in Powershell, and I want to extend this. Forgive me if this sounds vague I can provide further info if you have any specific questions.

Now, when i run the application from eclipse, i can read the files (using #1 below). but, when i export my application to jar and run it from other pc i can't read the files or even check whether the directory exist or not. • Spritebatch not working in winforms

  I'm using the Winforms sample on the app hub and everything is working fine except my spritebatch won't draw anything unless I call Invalidate in the Draw method. I have this in my initialize method: Application.Idle += delegate { Invalidate(); }; I used a breakpoint and it is indeed invalidating my program and it is calling my draw method. I get no errors with the spritebatch and all the textures are loaded I just don't see anything on the screen. Here's the code I have: protected override void Draw() { GraphicsDevice.Clear(Color.CornflowerBlue); spriteBatch.Begin(); tileSheet.Draw(spriteBatch); foreach (Image img in selector) img.Draw(spriteBatch); spriteBatch.End(); } But when I do this: protected override void Draw() { GraphicsDevice.Clear(Color.CornflowerBlue); spriteBatch.Begin(); tileSheet.Draw(spriteBatch); foreach (Image img in selector) img.Draw(spriteBatch); spriteBatch.End(); Invalidate(); } then all of a sudden the drawing starts to work! but the problem is that it freezes everything else and only that control gets updated. What can I do to fix this? It's really frustrating.

• 3G USB Modem Not Working in 12.04

  When I connect my 3G USB Modem to my laptop with 12.04, nothing shows up in Network-Manager. This modem is working in 11.10 and the modem is shown in Network-Manager but not in 12.04 !! • Wireless not working - HP Probook 4540s

  I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on 3 HP Probook 4540s's, and none of them seems to be able to connect to wireless networks. I have 1 Probook 4540s with Windows 7 installed and I can access wlan from it. I tried installing the necessary drivers from HP's website, but it still doesn't seem to be working. I've seen other people with different Probooks having similar problems, but their computers seem to be able to detect and even attempt to connect wlans, while mine doesn't even acknowledge that it has wireless.   on my alienware m14x r2 laptop with ubuntu 12.04.1 x64, the bluetooth interface is not working. WLAN works fine. I have a dualboot install with ubuntu & win 7 on this laptop. In win 7, the bluetooth interface works fine, because its all activated in BIOS. I have the killer wireless-n 1202 a/g/n interface with integrated bluetooth 4.0 in this laptop. • Auto-mount in fstab no longer working until manually running 'sudo mount -a'

  I have 3 SMB shared drives I need to connect to for work purposes. I had Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick and had all my drives loaded into fstab to be auto-mounted. Everything worked fine for a while but just before I upgraded to 11.04 Natty, the fstab auto-mount stopped working. I looked through dmesg and some error logs and couldn't see why fstab was failing on my mounts. I see that my 'lamp' directive is failing, but that's because the machine is currently down.

I'm probably missing a "generate new sql in new window" setting The default Teradata SQL Assistant doesn't execute just the SQL query I highlighted. There is a setting I have to change first. I'm not really happy that the SQL assistant and SQL admin are different app. Still trying to get used to the fact that I can't quickly look up a table's keys/relationships while writing query. I have to switch between windows. LOVE the execution plan / explanation. I think that part is better done than MS SQL in some ways. The error messages can be better. I feel that Teradata .NET provider sends smaller query command over than others. I don't have any hard data to support my claim. One of my query in SSRS was passing multi-valued parameters to another query, and got error "Teradata 3577 row size or sort key size overflow". The search on this error says the solution is to cast result column into smaller data type, but I found that the problem was that the parameter passed into the where clause could not be too large. I wish Teradata SQL Assistant would remember the window size I just adjusted to. Every time I execute the query, the result set, query, and exec log auto re-adjust back to the default size. In SSMS, if I adjust the result set area to be smaller, it would stay like that if I execute query in the same window.

Also, I configured in Gmail under Settings and confirmed @mydomain addresses, so I can send from @mydomain emails without the gmail address being displayed. Furthermore I authorized the website to send mails with this link: https://accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha Now, after 2 month where everything worked perfectly fine, suddenly users started not to receive emails anymore and most recently emails are not even being sent anymore. Also, I received many error messages like this: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.4.1 [email protected]: Recipient address rejected: Access Denied (state 13). When I check at this link: https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/checkmx/ It tells 2 none critical errors: Relayhost configuration detected. There SHOULD be a valid SPF record. So, the questions I would have were: does anybody have any hint why it stopped working, what the error messages mean? what to do to fix it? where do I set a SPF record (Cpanel?)? what is a relayhost and how to fix that? It is about 1000-1400 mails a day (gmail's limit is 2000). Also, what can I do wrong when setting up an SPF record? I've heard there are some testing tools for that. When i follow the following steps (from the above link), there are a NO error message at all: open the 'Synaptic Package Manager' and search for bcm uninstall the bcm-kernel-source package make sure that the firmware-b43-installer and the b43-fwcutter packages are installed type into terminal: cat /etc/modprobe.d/* | egrep '8180|acx|at76|ath|b43|bcm|CX|eth|ipw|irmware|isl|lbtf|orinoco|ndiswrapper|NPE|p54|prism|rtl|rt2|rt3|rt6|rt7|witch|wl' (you may want to copy this) and see if the term blacklist bcm43xx is there if it is, type cd /etc/modprobe.d/ and then sudo gedit blacklist.conf put a # in front of the line: blacklist bcm43xx then save the file (I was getting error messages in the terminal about not being able to save, but it actually did save properly). reboot 'End of procedure' Before (not ubuntu 11.04), if i wanted to connect wireles, i just went to the icon at the upper side of the screen, click, showed ALL the wireless network available, and done. • Focus follows mouse stops working when opening window from launcher and no click to focus

  This is 12.04 default desktop (unity). I set it to focus follows mouse, and changed the menus to be on the window. This worked for a while, then some unknown even, maybe an upgrade maybe some other setting change caused it to stop working. There are many ways for this behavior to start but one reliable one is to bring a window to the foreground/focus with the launcher. Now the focus is stuck on that window and not just the window but the regions within the window so the close, maximize, minimize and menus do not work. I have to use mouse middle and then mouse right and then focus follows mouse is restored for a bit. The exact details of the mouse action aren't clear, sometimes it seems like just mouse middle helps, sometimes just right some times a desperate sequence of clicks :-( I have tried switching to the gnome desktop and it seems to occur less there but it is not eliminated. I have tried switching mice to an old wired USB mouse. I have tried creating a new account and that has not worked. I have observed "split focus" where to scroll button scrolls one one window but the input goes to another. I go trapped recently where my keyboard input went to libre office calc, but I was selecting the search term in the chrome address window. The selection "grayed" but the keyboard input for the search went to libre. Regions in windows have very confused focus. I have to work hard to get focus on for example the close gliph (X) or the minimize gliph (_).

When I click my headset in either tab to use it, The changes are not remembered when I reopen the sound settings, the built-in audio is still used. Also when I select the headset in the Output tab, and click the Test Sound button to test everything, The sound still comes from my laptop's onboard audio, instead of from my USB headset. Does anyone know how to correct this? I am stumped.

• Emulator PCSX Reloaded - Fullscreen not working on Unity

  I have an older PS1 console with a couple of games I bought some years ago. On my pc, I'm using PCSX Reloaded - the best PS1 emulators for Linux I found so far. But I'm having a little issue on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise. I'm using Unity 3D and I'm trying to run some of my original PS1 games on PCSX Reloaded. Everything works nicely, except for fullscreen. I toggle fullscreen and specify maximum resolution for my monitor, but on fullscreen mode, both left and top unity bars aren't getting hidden. I tried changing between other graphic modes like Gnome Classic and Gnome Classic w/o Effects. On both, PCSX shows bars in fullscreen mode, so it isn't an Unity-specific issue, but an emulator problem. It's a bit annoying play games this way, so basically I'm running games on window mode for now. I'm using default OpenGL graphic plugin on this emulator. I tried changing to X11 graphic plugin and fullscreen worked, but graphics on X11 plugin aren't as good as OpenGL one. Anyone know a way to get fullscreen working on PCSX using OpenGL plugin? Or maybe another graphic plugin w/ OpenGL support.
