  • Frameworks for JavaScript UI Widgets?

    - by ChrisInCambo
I'm trying to put together a list of JavaScript UI widget frameworks for consideration in a project. Ideally it would be a library that has a range of ready made ui widgets, no dependencies on dom/js extention/manipulation frameworks like JQuery or Prototype, minimal additional cruft, such as Ajax API's and DOM selectors etc. Here's what I have so far: qooxdoo, ScriptClient ExtJs Could anyone suggest any other that are worth a look? Please do not suggest, JQuery, Prototype, Mootools, Dojo etc, their primary focus is not to provide ui widgets.

  • DB access denied with ASP.Net MVC application after switching to windows authentication mode

    - by myotherme
I have a MVC application that I am now trying to add authentication and authorization to. I want to allow users to get to the site and be automatically authenticated. So I set authentication mode="Windows" in the web.config, and enabled NTLM in the project options. The site now shows my domain name in the top right when I run it, but when I hit a action than needs DB access, it tells me access is denied for my user-name? What step am I missing?

  • What's your experience with Flash drives?

    - by Jon Ericson
EMC is marketing Solid State Flash Drives and my project is thinking about moving that direction in the future. Does anyone have any experience with replacing traditional disk storage with flash drives? Besides price, have you experienced any downsides to the technology?

  • Changing Name Associated With Past Commits In Mercurial

    - by Sean M
A friend recently had the occasion for a legal name change, which made me wonder about how to cope with that in a development environment, especially in regards to source control. Their legal name changed, so naturally their login name and associated identity stuff changed. If they were a team member of mine, I'd like to change the record of their past commits to the project to be consistent with their new name. Is that possible in Mercurial? In other version control systems?

  • Mercurial, Forget files forever

    - by Seth M.
Is it possible in mercurial to ignore changes within an entire directory. For example I would like mercurial to not tell me that changes to the "class" directory have occurred since I don't want to version control the *.class files for my project.

  • How do I get the scalaz IDEA live templates working for the symbolic methods?

    - by oxbow_lakes
Many of the methods in scalaz have symbolic equivalents, such as forever and 8 (of course, I have this the wrong way round, the symbolic methods really have ASCII equivalents). The project contains a live templates XML file for IDEA so these can be auto-completed, I believe by using the forever+TAB shortcut (in the above instance). I can't figure out how to import this live template into IDEA and actually use it, though. How can I do that?

  • SourceForge-like site but not SourceForge...

    - by AndrejaKo
This may be off-topic, but I decided to ask it here anyway, because it's very related to programming. I'm looking for a site which will host a free software project for free, offer SVN and Hg access, bug tracking &co, space for a blog... Any tips? Also, should this be community wiki?

  • Visual Studio 2010, using VB.NET. Intellisense does not recognize new property until I recompile

    - by Velika
I have an ASP.NET VB.NET web project that references a VB.NET class library. I add a new property to a class in the class library, then, from the web app, I expect to be able to use it immediately w/o errors and with full intellisense. It used to work in 2008. When I compile the class library, it becomes available but not until. Was this nice feature taken away, perhaps in the interest of speed?

  • Open Source ASP.NET Contact Management Application?

    - by davemackey
I'm considering building a Church Management System (ChMS), essentially a CRM, but specifically tailored for churches. I've looked at several existing CRM and open source ChMS solutions but have not been satisfied with any of them. Before I start writing something from the ground up - I was wondering if anyone was aware of an open source asp.net application that might be a good fit for this project? Particularly, the application needs to perform CRUD and optimally allow for dynamic user-based creation/editing of fields associated with contacts etc.

  • Is there a future for Powerpoint VBA/VSTO?

    - by Sam Russo
Does anyone know what the future holds for VBA/VSTO programming in Powerpoint? I've been working on a Office automation project and find it frustrating to work with Powerpoint in particular since it seems to be one level below VBA support found in Excel or Word. It feels like MS is trying to phase out support for VBA in PPT since they dropped macro recording in version 2007 and the object model lacks some key features support.

  • Using Entity Framework (code first) migrations in production

    - by devdigital
I'm just looking into using EF migrations for our project, and in particular for performing schema changes in production between releases. I can see that generating SQL (delta) script files is an option, but is there no way of running the migrations programmatically on app start up? Will I instead need to add each delta script to the solution and write my own framework to apply them in order (from the current version to the latest) on bootstrap?

  • git encrypt/decrypt remote repository files while push/pull

    - by UncleMiF
Is it possible to automatically encrypt files via 'git push' before transferring to a remote repository? And automatically decode them while 'git pull'. I.e, if I have some remote server with shared access with git repository there, and I don't want to our project was stolen without a permission... Maybe there is some special git-hooks before push and after pull?

  • Is there any tool to standardize format of C++ code?

    - by BillyONeal
Hello, all :) I'm looking for a tool that works on Windows to reformat some C++ code in my codebase. Essentially, I've got some code I wrote a while ago that I'd like to use, but it doesn't match the style I'm using in a more recent project. What's the best way to reformat C++ code in a standard manner? Billy3

  • Is Pharo just a repackaging/rebranding of Squeak?

    - by number5
I'm trying to learn some Smalltalk. Fisrt found was Squeak, but since it has been removed from Gentoo ebuild tree because of security problem, so I decided to find an alternative. Then I found Pharo through Seaside project, after I downloaded Pharo 1.0 package, there are actually a SqueakVM inside! So, my question is: Is Pharo just a repackaging/rebranding of Squeak? And are those security problem of Squeak (bundle unsecure libs) still applied to Pharo? Thanks!

  • Can Gobby/Sobby be used for collaborative edition for a team of developers ?

    - by Jerome WAGNER
Hello, Gobby/Sobby is an open source client/server for collaborative edition of plain text file (source code). My question is 4-fold : Can you share any real-life usage of Gobby/Sobby for development among a group of physically separated developers ? Is the project mature enough as a productivity tool ? What are the working use cases ? What versions should be used ? (It seems 'undo' feature is not yet officially packaged) Thanks Jerome

  • Replicating multicolumn lists from the Django admin CSS

    - by mfalcon
Hi, I'm developing a Django project and I've to show a multicolumn list for the different objects of a table. I like the design of the django-admin for showing list-objects so I looked at the code to see how it works. As I am a CSS begginer the code seemed a bit difficult and extensive to comprehend. Is there a simplier way to make what I want or actually the CSS code of the django-admin is the path to follow?
