  • C++ operator overloading doubt

    - by avd
I have a code base, in which for Matrix class, these two definitions are there for () operator: template <class T> T& Matrix<T>::operator() (unsigned row, unsigned col) { ...... } template <class T> T Matrix<T>::operator() (unsigned row, unsigned col) const { ...... } One thing I understand is that the second one does not return the reference but what does const mean in the second declaration. Also which function is called when I do say mat(i,j)

  • mapping 'value object' collection in (Fluent) NHibernate

    - by adrin
I have the following entity public class Employee { public virtual int Id {get;set;} public virtual ISet<Hour> XboxBreakHours{get;set} public virtual ISet<Hour> CoffeeBreakHours {get;set} } public class Hour { public DateTime Time {get;set;} } (What I want to do here is store information that employee A plays Xbox everyday let's say at 9:00 13:30 and has a coffee break everyday at 7:00 12:30 18:00) - I am not sure if my approach is valid at all here. The question is how should my (ideally fluent) mappings look like here? It is not necessary (from my point of view) for Hour class to have Id or be accessible from some kind of repository.

  • CSS Selector Issue

    - by YsoL8
Hello html body .home blog logged-in div #wrapper div #page div .cats I have a problem with selecting unordered lists (i.e ul li.class-name class-name-number) at the above dom location in CSS. I am working with a wordpress theme. Basically could I have suggestions for the correct selector to use in order to influence this tag? I can provide a simplified html structure if it will help. I've tried a number of selectors along the lines of: (sometimes)#page (# or .)cats (sometimes)ul li(sometimes with class name) EDIT: I've tried the selectors suggested in the wordpress docs. Thanks!

  • AppFabric serialization problem.

    - by jandark
I am trying cache a class instance with AppFabric but it return class instance with empty members. The reason is DataContract Attribute. My class is marked with [Serializable] and [DataContract(Name = "TestClass", Namespace = "CustomNameSpace.TestClass")] attributes. Problem solving if I mark all properties with DataMember or remove DataContract attribute. But I do not want to remove DataContract attributte because of other serialization needs (such as json or something else) Or I do not want to add DataMember attribute to other classes. (a lot of) Do you have any idea to solve that problem ? Thanks.

  • has_many relation doesn't seems right or logical, some thing like belongs_to_many looks right

    - by Vijendra
My situation is like this. Company has many users and users may belongs to many companies. And current implementation is something like below. class Company has_many :employments has_many :users, :through = :employments end class Employment belongs_to :company belongs_to :user end class User has_many :employments has_many :companies, :through = :employments #This doesn't looks correct end User has many companies doesn't looks logically meaningful. It must be some thing like belongs_to_many companies. Do I need to use has_and_belongs_to_many? But that also will gives the same meaning. Can some one please suggest the right way for representing these relationships?

  • Check if a variable is empty

    - by Thomas
I have some user-submitted variables that I want to display in a different part of my site like this: <div class="pre_box">Term: </div> <div class="entry"><?php $key='term'; echo get_post_meta($post->ID, $key, true); ?></div> Occasionally, these variables might be empty in which case I don't want to display the label for the empty variable. In the example above I would want to hide the <div class="pre_box">Term: </div> part. Is there some simple way to check if a php variable like the one above is empty and prevent the label from being displayed?

  • Javascript: Access the right scope "under" apply(...)

    - by Chau
This is a very old problem, but I cannot seem to get my head around the other solutions presented here. I have an object function ObjA() { var a = 1; this.methodA = function() { alert(a); } } which is instantiated like var myObjA = new ObjA(); Later on, I assign my methodA as a handler function in an external Javascript Framework, which invokes it using the apply(...) method. When the external framework executes my methodA, this belongs to the framework function invoking my method. Since I cannot change how my method is called, how do I regain access to the private variable a? My research tells me, that closures might be what I'm looking for.

  • css override not working?

    - by Karin
I have three tabs that change styles when clicked. class="active" gives the tab the same background as the tab content, while class="inactive" has another color. My problem is the text on the tabs, something's weird with the CSS. The default state of class="active" looks as it should, while the inactive tabs are underlined even though my CSS says text-decoration: none !important; and the clicked active tab text becomes extra bold (or maybe it's a shadow). Please look at my fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/m8wQM/170/

  • GetValue on static field inside nested classes.

    - by Sir Gallahad
Hi... I have the following class declared. I need to retreive the class structure and the static values without instanciate it. public MyClass() { public static string field = "Value"; public nestedClass() { public static string nestedField = "NestedValue"; } } I've successfuly used GetFields and GetNestedType to recover the class structure and GetValue(null) works fine on field, but not on nestedField. Let me sample: var fi = typeof(MyClass).GetField("field", BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Static); var nt = typeof(MyClass).GetNestedType("nestedClass", BindingFlags.Public); var nfi = nt.GetField("nestedField", BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Static); // All the above references are detected correctly var value = fi.GetValue(null); // until here everything works fine. value == "Value" var nestedValue = nfi.GetValue(null); // this one does not work!! Anyone knows why the last line does not work and how to work around? Thanks.

  • Copying pointers in C++

    - by tunnuz
Hello, I have a class A containing two pointers to objects of another class B. I want to initialize one pointer or the other depending on which one is passed to init(), which also takes other parameters. My situation is thus the following: class A { public: A(); init(int parameter, int otherParameter, B* toBeInitialized); protected: B* myB; B* myOtherB; }; Now my point is that I want to call init() as: init(640, 480, this->myB); or init(640, 480, this->myOtherB); Now, my init is implemented as: void init( int parameter, int otherParameter, B* toBeInitialized ) { toBeInitialized = someConstructorFunction(parameter, otherParameter); } The problem is that the two pointers are not initialized, I suspect that toBeInitialized is overwritten, but the original parameter is not modified. I am doing something wrong? Should I use references to pointers? Thank you Tommaso

  • Why is $file empty in custom symfony file validator?

    - by codecowboy
I am setting a custom file validator for a file input field in Symfony 1.4 (Doctrine) $this-setValidator('filename', new sfValidatorFile(array( 'mime_types' = 'web_images', 'path' = sfConfig::get('sf_upload_dir').'/animals', 'validated_file_class' = 'CustomValidatedFile', 'required' =false ))); I then want to override the save method to generate some thumbnails: class CustomValidatedFile extends sfValidatedFile { private $savedFilename; // Override sfValidatedFile's save method public function save($file = null, $fileMode = 0666, $create = true, $dirMode = 0777) { $this-savedFilename = $this-generateFilename(); // This makes sure we use only one savedFilename (it will be the first) if ($this-savedFilename === null ) { $this-savedFilename = $file; } $thumbnail = new sfThumbnail(150,150); $thumbnail-loadFile($this-getTempName()); $thumbnail-save(sfConfig::get('sf_upload_dir').'/thumbnails/thumb_'.$this-savedFilename); // Let the original save method do its magic :) return parent::save($this->savedFilename, $fileMode, $create, $dirMode); } } This fails with the error "The file "" is not readable." This is coming from sfThumbnailPlugin because the value of $file is null. My question is why is $file null?

  • Serializing System.Drawing.Color in .NET

    - by alankdkd
Hi all, I've used the default .NET serialization for a class with a System.Drawing.Color member. The code is now in use by people, and I need to add an extra member to the class, but still deserialize older versions. So I tried the standard way of doing this: The ISerializable interface, using SerializationInfo methods to get the int and string members. The problem: My class also has a System.Drawing.Color member, but SerializationInfo doesn't provide a "GetColor" method read this data type. I've tried getting it as an int and as a string, and casting it to System.Drawing.Color, but no luck. Does anyone know how to deserialize a System.Drawing.Color from SerializationInfo? Thanx! Alan

  • Grails: Duplicates & unique constraint validation

    - by rukoche
OK here is stripped down version of what I have in my app Artist domain: class Artist { String name Date lastMined def artistService static transients = ['artistService'] static hasMany = [events: Event] static constraints = { name(unique: true) lastMined(nullable: true) } def mine() { artistService.mine(this) } } Event domain: class Event { String name String details String country String town String place String url String date static belongsTo = [Artist] static hasMany = [artists: Artist] static constraints = { name(unique: true) url(unique: true) } } ArtistService: class ArtistService { def results = [ [ name:"name", details:"details", country:"country", town:"town", place:"place", url:"url", date:"date" ] ] def mine(Artist artist) { results << results[0] // now we have a duplicate results.each { def event = new Event(it) if (event.validate()) { if (artist.events.find{ it.name == event.name }) { log.info "grrr! valid duplicate name: ${event.name}" } artist.addToEvents(event) } } artist.lastMined = new Date() if (artist.events) { artist.save(flush: true) } } } In theory event.validate() should return false and event will not be added to artist, but it doesn't.. which results in DB exception on artist.save() Although I noticed that if duplicate event is persisted first everything works as intended. Is it bug or feature? :P

    - by Milo
Here is what I would like to do. Say I have Class Widget. I then create Button from Widget. I then create ModifiedWidget which re-implements certain functions of Widget. I then want Button to use ModifiedWidget rather than plain Widget. Is this possible to do some how? Thanks class Button : public Widget; class SuperButton : public Button, public ModifiedWidget; I'm just not sure if that would do what I want it to though.

  • How to have NHibernate persist a String.Empty property value as NULL

    - by Todd
I have a fairly simple class that I want to save to SQL Server via NHibernate (w/ Fluent mappings). The class is made up mostly of optional string fields. My problem is I default the class fields to string.empty to avoid NullRefExceptions and when NHibernate saves the row to the database each column contains an empty string instead of null. Question: Is there a way for me to get NHibernate to automatically save null when the string property is an empty string? Or do I need to litter my code with if (string.empty) checks?

  • Fastest/One-liner way to list attr_accessors in Ruby?

    - by viatropos
What's the shortest, one-liner way to list all methods defined with attr_accessor? I would like to make it so, if I have a class MyBaseClass, anything that extends that, I can get the attr_accessor's defined in the subclasses. Something like this: class MyBaseClass < Hash def attributes # ?? end end class SubClass < MyBaseClass attr_accessor :id, :title, :body end puts SubClass.new.attributes.inspect #=> [id, title, body] What about to display just the attr_reader and attr_writer definitions?

  • What to log when an exception occurs?

    - by Rune
public void EatDinner(string appetizer, string mainCourse, string dessert) { try { // Code } catch (Exception ex) { Logger.Log("Error in EatDinner", ex); return; } } When an exception occurs in a specific method, what should I be logging? I see a lot of the above in the code I work with. In these cases, I always have to talk to the person who experienced the error to find out what they were doing, step through the code, and try to reproduce the error. Is there any best practices or ways I can minimize all this extra work? Should I log the parameters in each method like this? Logger.Log("Params: " + appetizer + "," + mainCourse + "," + dessert, ex); Is there a better way to log the current environment? If I do it this way, will I need to write out all this stuff for each method I have in my application? Are there any best practices concerning scenarios like this?

  • IRepository with Inherited Classes

    - by Stacey
In keeping with the Repository pattern of data input, I've a question in regards to using inherited classes. For instance, suppose I would have the class... class Employee IEmployeeRepository { Add(Employee employee); } This works fine, nothing wrong with it so far... but now let's say I continue on.. class Manager : Employee Okay, now let's assume that I never need to enter a manager different than an Employee? What's the best approach here? Would a scenario such as .. IEmployeeRepository { Add<T>(T employee) where T : Employee } Be the best approach, or do I need to abstract a different repository for each type?

  • Generics and reflection in Java

    - by Ragesh
This is probably a very basic question, but I'm really new to generics in Java and I'm having a hard time altering my thought process from the way things are done in C#, so bear with me. I'm trying to build a generic repository in Java. I've created an IRepository interface that looks like this: public interface IRepository<T extends IEntity> And a Repository class that looks like this: public class Repository<T extends IEntity> implements IRepository<T> Now, from within the constructor of my Repository class, I'd like to be able to "divine" the exact type of T. For example, if I instantiated a repository like this: IRepository<MyClass> repo = new Repository<MyClass>(); I'd like to know that T is actually MyClass. This is trivial in C#, but obviously generics are a totally different beast in Java and I can't seem to find anything that would help me do this.
