    Hi i am trying to login site with request, using username and password , i can succesfully login the user than i want to parse some html and send it to database ,what it return is activex object that i can not do anything(by the way i am using java to do that) ,in order to bypasss the active x object what is your solution? 1-First come to my mind i can write c# application that using internex explorer dll than login user, it parse html and send it to database than i can use data in database

  • Is Collections.shuffle suitable for a poker algorithm?

    Hi, there is a poker-system in java, that uses Collections.shuffle() on all available cards before the cards are dealt. So a collection of 52 cards 2-9, J, Q, K, A in 4 types. After that we Collections.shuffle(). The problem is, that it seems (until now we didn't have big statistic, it's possible that we only see a lot of statistic inferences), that the algorithm is VERY unclearly. So, is Collections.shuffle() okay for a poker algorithm?

  • Splitting integers in arrays to individual digits

I have an array: int test[]={10212,10202,11000,11000,11010}; I want to split the inetger values to individual digits and place them in a new array as individual elements such that my array now is: int test2[]={1,0,2,1,2,1,0,2,0,2,1,1,0,0,0,1,1,0,0,0,1,1,0,1,0}; How would i go about doing that?   • Access modifiers in Object-Oriented Programming

    I don't understand Access Modifiers in OOP. Why do we make for example in Java instance variables private and then use public getter and setter methods to access them? I mean what's the reasoning/logic behind this? You still get to the instance variable but why use setter and getter methods when you can just make your variables public? please excuse my ignorance as I am simply trying to understand why?   • Should a Stack have a maximum size?

    I'm practicing my knowledge of ADTs by implementing some data structures, even if most already exist. With Stacks, a lot of books and other documentation I've read talk about the stack throwing an error when you try to add an element but the stack is full. In a java implementation (or any other), should I specifically keep track of a maximum stack size (from constructor), check to see if that size is reached, and throw an overflow exception if it is? Or is not such a big deal?

  • Is there any reason to prefer UTF-16 over UTF-8?

    Examining the attributes of UTF-16 and UTF-8, I can't find any reason to prefer UTF-16. However, checking out Java and C#, it looks like strings and chars there default to UTF-16. I was thinking that it might be for historic reasons, or perhaps for performance reasons, but couldn't find any information. Anyone knows why these languages chose UTF-16? And is there any valid reason for me to do that as well?

    i am writing stored procedures in MySQL that return values; CREATE PROCEDURE getCustomerById (id int) BEGIN SELECT * FROM customer WHERE customer.id = id; END; and i get the error that the results cannot be shown in the given context. after some googling, i think that i need to set the flag "CLIENT_MULTI_RESULTS" - i am connecting the database from JDBC using a java app, but cant find where to set it! any suggestions?

    I want to use EC2 for some reasons and EC2 provides both windows and linux deployments, but linux is much cheaper (linux reserved instances are approx. %63-%85 price of windows ones and spot instances are %50 cheaper for linux). I need a type safe lang and mainstream platform and I prefer to use .net/c# stack (but not mono for some reasons), but in this situation java seems a better fit for the future (when ec2 instance counts begin to increase).
