  • WPF windows locked when calling webservice. Even when run asynchronously

    Hi there. I'm having a big problem when calling a web service from my WPF application. The application/window locks until the process has completed. I've attempted to run this asynchronously but the problem still persists. Currently, the web service call I'm making can last 45-60 seconds. It runs a process on the server to fetch a big chunk of data. As it take a little while I wanted to have a progress bar moving indeterminately for the user to see that the application hasn't stalled or anything (you know how impatatient they get). Also when I created Infopath form I have given some text fields and button, I don't want the Infopath services buttons(Save,save as...) how I cna remove those?   • Partial view postback from a standard Html form with MVC

    I have a file upload button on my MVC view. After the file is uploaded, my FileList partial view on the page should refresh. I tried to upload with Ajax.BeginForm(), but have discovered that Ajax will not submit file data. I've got the file upload working now by using the jQuery Form plugin, which lets you ajaxify the normal Html.BeginForm() submit method. Is is still possible to trigger the partial page update using this method?

However, it does NOT respond to keyboard events until I click on it. How do I make the dialog get focus without having to click it?

    Hi, I am new to MVC and have a grasp of the basic model, but still doing everything with postbacks etc. One aspect of the UI I want to build is to have a drop-down-list of items with a button to add an item to the database and refresh the list. Achieving this with WebForms was straight forward as everything was wrapped in UpdatePanels, but what is the best approach to achieve this using MVC? Some examples show a lot of ajax code in the page something like: $.ajax({...}); I assume doing this using jquery is more code than asp.net webforms, but there is just more code to see doing a "View Source" on a page?     Hiya, I'm trying to generate Outlook event files for my events, doing so on the fly as and when someone requests it by pressing a link on the page. Here's what i've got so far, but I can't find out how to get the browser to download the content which is returned.   • datagridview rowsremoved event gets called every time data loads

    The datagridview rowsremoved event gets called every time the data gets loaded. It also makes sense to a certain extent that every time the data loads, the existing rows are removed. so technically the event should get called. But how do i differenciate that from the actual delete button getting pressed. I don't think the key events should be used, that wouldn't be a clean approach. Any help will be most appreciated.

  • Django: How can I protect against concurrent modification of data base entries

    If there a way to protect against concurrent modifications of the same data base entry by two or more users? It would be acceptable to show an error message to the user performing the second commit/save operation, but data should not be silently overwritten. I think locking the entry is not an option, as a user might use the "Back" button or simply close his browser, leaving the lock for ever.
