• Rubygems on netbeans driving me crazy!

  I cant understand why Gems fetching failed, it was always working fine, i can't figure out how to solve this, hopefully somebody can help. Its driving me Crazy.   Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to do a thesaurus search together with NEAR or AND/OR keywords. • Problems with Ajax Chat version .8.3

  I am not sure why, but my Ajax Chatroom ever once in awhile (once time ever other day on average I'd say), displays an connection error 503. Now doing some digging apparently 503 is an error for exceeding max connections, and the typical fix is increasing your limit to something like 400 but my max connections is already set to 1500. That being said I would love some help on the issue as I cannot find any further info on it.

• Recursive SQL giving ORA-01790

  Using Oracle 11g release 2, the following query gives an ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression: with intervals(time_interval) AS (select trunc(systimestamp) from dual union all select (time_interval + numtodsinterval(10, 'Minute')) from intervals where time_interval < systimestamp) select time_interval from intervals; The error suggests that the datatype of both subqueries of the UNION ALL are returning different datatypes. Even if I cast to TIMESTAMP in each of the subqueries, then I get the same error. What am I missing?

• .NET: Avoidance of custom exceptions by utilising existing types, but which?

  Consider the following code (ASP.NET/C#): private void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!SetupHelper.SetUp()) { throw new ShitHitFanException(); } } I've never been too hesitant to simply roll my own exception type, basically because I have found (bad practice, or not) that mostly a reasonable descriptive type name gives us enough as developers to go by in order to know what happened and why something might have happened. Sometimes the existing .NET exception types even accommodate these needs - regardless of the message. In this particular scenario, for demonstration purposes only, the application should die a horrible, disgraceful death should SetUp not complete properly (as dictated by its return value), but I can't find an already existing exception type in .NET which would seem to suffice; though, I'm sure one will be there and I simply don't know about it. Brad Abrams posted this article that lists some of the available exception types. I say some because the article is from 2005, and, although I try to keep up to date, it's a more than plausible assumption that more have been added to future framework versions that I am still unaware of. Of course, Visual Studio gives you a nicely formatted, scrollable list of exceptions via Intellisense - but even on analysing those, I find none which would seem to suffice for this situation... ApplicationException: ...when a non-fatal application error occurs The name seems reasonable, but the error is very definitely fatal - the app is dead. ExecutionEngineException: ...when there is an internal error in the execution engine of the CLR Again, sounds reasonable, superficially; but this has a very definite purpose and to help me out here certainly isn't it. HttpApplicationException: ...when there is an error processing an HTTP request Well, we're running an ASP.NET application! But we're also just pulling at straws here. InvalidOperationException: ...when a call is invalid for the current state of an instance This isn't right but I'm adding it to the list of 'possible should you put a gun to my head, yes'. OperationCanceledException: ...upon cancellation of an operation the thread was executing Maybe I wouldn't feel so bad using this one, but I'd still be hijacking the damn thing with little right. You might even ask why on earth I would want to raise an exception here but the idea is to find out that if I were to do so then do you know of an appropriate exception for such a scenario? And basically, to what extent can we piggy-back on .NET while keeping in line with rationality?

• Wicket WAR in Jetty: .html files not on classpath

  Hi, I deployed a Wicket-based app's .war file to Jetty 7.0.2. The problem is that Jetty copies the classpath to a temp dir, but only copies *.class, so *.html is not available for the classloader and I get the error: WicketMessage: Markup of type 'html' for component 'cz.dynawest.wicket.chat.ChatPage' not found. Copying the war as an expanded directory helped. Still, I am wondering how to configure Jetty to copy everything. And, with mvn jetty:run I get the same error. Thanks, Ondra

• Visual Studio soft-crashing when encountering XAML Errors in initialize.

  I've been having some serious issues with Visual Studio 2010 as of late. It's been crashing in a peculiar way when I encounter certain types of XAML errors during the InitializeComponent() of a control/window. The program breaks and visual studio gears up like it's catching an exception (because it is) and then stops midway displaying a broken highlight in my XAML file with no details as to what is wrong. Example: There is not pop outs, or details Anywhere about what is wrong, only a callstack that points to my InitializeComponent() call. Now normally I'd just do some trial and error to fix this problem, and find out where i messed up, but the real problem isn't my code. Visual Studio is rendered completely useless at this point. It reports my application still in "Running" mode. The Stop/Break/Restart buttons on the toolbar or in the menus don't do anything (but grey out). Closing the application does not stop this behaviour, closing visual studio gets it stuck in a massive loop where it yells at me complaining every file open is not in the debug project, then repeats this process when i have exausted every open file. I have to force-close devenv.exe, and after this happening 3-4 times in a row it's a lot of wasted time (as my projects are usually pretty big and studio can be quite slow @ loading). To the point Has anyone else experienced this? How can I stop studio from locking up. Can I at LEAST get information out of this beast another way so i can fix my XAML error sooner rather than after 3-4 trial-and-error compiles yielding the same crash? Any & All help would be appreciated. Visual Studio 2010 version: 10.0.30319.1RTM Edit & Update FWIW, mostly the errors that cause this are XamlParseExceptions (I figured this out after i found what was wrong with my XAML). I think I need to be clearer though, Im not looking for the solution to my code problem, as these are usually typos / small things, I'm looking for a solution to VStudio getting all buggered up as a result. The particular error in the above image that 100% for sure caused this was a XamlParseException caused by forgetting a Value attribute on a data trigger. I've fixed that part but it still doesn't tell my why my studio becomes a lump of neutered program when a perfectly normal exception is thrown in the parsing of the XAML. Code that will cause this issue (at least for me) This is the base template WPF Application, with the following Window.xaml code. The problem is a missing Value="True" on the <DataTrigger ...> in the template. It generates a XamlParseException and Visual Studio Crashes as described above when debugging it.   I can set the max memory as 1000 and not more than that, if I set the memory more than that, it throws the following error. What am I doing wrong?

• Try-Catch equivalent in Objective-C / xcode

  I get an app crash in main.m in my app and have no idea why the error is happening because xcode doesn't show me where the crash occurs, it shows me that it crashes at return UIApplicationMain(argc, argv ...) which tells me nothing. Is there a way to have in xcode / Objective-C the equivalent of a try/catch in Visual Studio to see exactly where the error is occuring? I'm using latest xcode (4.6 I believe). Thanks in advance.
