• How to choose, set and use keywords while structuring a website?

  I have been working on my personal website for sometime, I think I have been doing a good technical job, but, unfortunately I did a terrible job while structuring the website because I didn't care about the keywords I was going to use. Although it is my personal website, I'd like to mention the main objective is the blog of the website, so I'd like that the keywords were related to the content that it is in the blog, at present google webmaster tools is displaying a lot of keywords that has nothing to do with the content of the website, and some SEO reporting websites such as woorank says that the keyword optimization of the website is awful, So I have 3 questions: How to choose, set and use keywords while structuring a website? OPTIONAL: which are all the methods and sources used by search engines to collect the keywords of a website? there are some high profile websites that aren't optimized on this as well, should I concerned about this anyway?, is there anything more important that I should be concerned about? • Problem after upgrading to 14.04: Unable to mount - Not authorized

  This is the first time I ever post on this forum. I have used Ubuntu for 7 years, and every time I've had a problem, I have browsed the web and I have been able to solve it thanks to the help given on forums to other users experiencing the same issues (I do not have technical knowledge on Ubuntu). This time, I've spent hours reading forums and typing commands and nothing helps. I am exhausted. Upgrading to 14.04 has proved itself a mistake. Many things won't work anymore. But the one which worries me right now is external media not automounting anymore. I know other people have had the same issue and I have carefully read their threads, but nothing helps!!

• Need a remote desktop to a headless server without logging in first

  I've been using Linux for many years now but only to run servers. Over the last few days I've been struggling with a technical / configuration issue which I hope someone can help with. I've installed / un-installed many packages but just can't figure out what the "right" way of doing this is. The requirement seems simple Server runs Ubuntu 10.04 with xubuntu and SSH (I do NOT want to connect any screen, keyboard or mouse to the server) I have Windows 7 machine with putty on it and logging in to the server using SSH is fine I want to run an xterminal session on my Windows machine. Amongst the things I've tried is VNU but I can't get it to work because I believe you have to login on the server first. Thanks in advance

• Web Development Internship Interview Help

  Tomorrow morning I'm interviewing for a web development internship position and I'm seeking general advice pertaining to the questions that interviewers might ask, some questions I should ask them during the interview, and any general tips/suggestions that might help. They're looking for someone with knowledge mainly in HTML/CSS, Joomla, MySQL and PHP, all of which I have excluding Joomla (which I'm installing/doing as much research on as possible at the moment) and I was able to provide them a link to a site I'd been paid to build for a small business which they mentioned they were impressed with. I'd like to prepare myself for the interview as much as I possibly can but I'm wondering how much time I should spend rehashing elements of the languages they're looking for, or if it'd be a better use of my time to research their company and figure out how I'd respond to general questions. I feel that perhaps because I showed them a project I've completed that they'll know that I can grasp the technical side of what they're going for... but this is my first internship interview in this field so I'm not exactly sure what to expect. • What's the best way to recruit talented female developers?

  I work on a team with a dozen men. They're great. I like them and all, but can't help wonder why it's so hard to find other technical women. I know they exist because I've met them at conferences, read their blogs, and see them on campus. My guess is there's something about our team that keeps them away. How can we recruit talented women without resorting to gimmicks? I'm not looking for complete gender parity, but why is it that some teams have a 50/50 gender split and ours is completely lopsided?

These scientists have competencies to investigate psychological and sociological aspects of open source software development (i.e. how coders think, feel, and behave, along with how communities work or do not work). They are also technically equipped to understand code and coding, have access to all sorts of statistical and machine learning techniques, however their focus is on social aspects of open source software development, not technical. • Real World ADF - another new ADF book hits the stands

  I'm pleased to report that yet another Oracle ADF book hits the bookstores this month.  One of my fellow Product Managers, Jobinesh, has written Oracle ADF Real World Developer's Guide.   I'm currently awaiting a copy for review and can't wait to get into this book.  Jobinesh is an incredibly smart and switched-on technical ADF guru and I'm convinced I'm going to learn a whole lot of tips and techniques from this book. Once I get my hands on a copy I'll be writing up a full review. As someone who has written an Oracle ADF book already, I know the effort that goes into something like that, so well done Jobinesh.

• Identify "non-secure" content IE warns about [on hold]

  As many know, if you serve a page over https and the content loads resources (images, stylesheets, js, SWF objects, etc) over http, older versions of Internet Explorer will show the user a warning saying "This page contains both secure and non-secure items". This is discomforting to many non-technical users. Usually, I can look at the HTML source and identify which item(s) are triggering this error. Sometimes a Flash object will load something else or some embedded javascript will put a new object in the DOM and trigger this. What tools are good for quickly tracking down the source of the warning?

We do these at in person events like Oracle OpenWorld and also online for our Virutal SysAdmin Days, and those are great because you can get real-time assistance if you have any questions.   E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Sustaining Support Exception & 12.1 Extended Support Now to Dec. 2018 [ID 1495337.1] As part of Oracle’s continued commitment to our customers, we will be providing an exception for the first 13 months of Sustaining Support on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 (11i10), valid from December 1, 2013 – December 31, 2014. This exception support will be comprised of three components: (1) new fixes for Severity 1 production issues, (2) United States Form 1099 2013 year-end updates, and (3) payroll regulatory updates for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia for fiscal years ending in 2014.  In addition, the Extended Support period for E-Business Suite Release 12.1 has been extended through December, 2018. Customers with an active Oracle Premier Support for Software contract will automatically be entitled to Extended Support deliverables for E-Business Suite 12.1. Please refer to the Lifetime Support section of oracle.com for further information regarding Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy for Applications. This change will be reflected in the October update to the Software Technical Support Policies.

• Google analytics/adwords account and leaking of private data

  I am frequently asked to log into clients google analytics and adwords accounts. If I forget to log out before visiting other google properties (google search, youtube etc), this leaves tracks of my views/searches etc, exposing my activities to the client. Summary: Client gives me access to their Google Analytics / AdWords account I log into clients Analytics account and do some stuff Then in another tab I perform some related google searches to solve some related issues Issues solved, I then close the Analytics tab I then visit google.com, perform some unrelated searches I then visit YouTube, view some unrelated videos All Web and YouTube searches are recorded in clients google account, thus leaking potentially sensitive data Even assuming that I remember to log out correctly at step 4 (as I do 95% of the time), anything I do at step 3 is exposed to the client. I would be surprised if this is not a very common issue. I'm looking for a technical solution to ensure that this can never happen. Any ideas?

  Struggling with locating patches for Sun products? Can't find your Oracle System Drivers? This question has been raised many times by customers and was the source of a short video in the Oracle System Support Newsletter in February 2012. The transition between SunSolve and My Oracle Support is to change how you think about the type of patch your looking for. For example, in SunSolve you might have typed e1000g if looking for an Enternet Driver.. but entering e1000g will not find anything in My Oracle Support - Patches and Update Menu. As you need to use the Product (Advanced) search which is driven of the Product Name, therefore you need to type "Ethernet" and select the ethernet product you are looking for to locate the patches for this product. Just to recap that video: If you are looking for the e1000g Ethernet Driver - You need to use Advance Search and search for Enternet 1. Log into My Oracle Support - Select Patches and Updates - Select Product or Family (Advanced Search). 2. In the product line enter: Ethernet and select the product name from the menu. 3. Check remove supersede patches - that ensure you only get relevant current patches in the results. 4. Select Search and the results are displayed. Now you have more options to include the platform (Solaris,Linux etc.) if want to further narrow the search. Need more information? • wireless blocked after installing ubuntu 12.04

  I am using a lenovo S10-3 ideapad; had no problems with earlier version of ubuntu, only since installing 12.04. Have looked through many of the questions on the same issue and tried potential solutions but cannot seem to solve my problem. The hardware switch is in 'on' position and the wireless light comes on very briefly (2-3 sec) when the laptop starts up but then goes off and stays off. Pressing FN+F5 does nothing at all. I'd be grateful for any assistance. • What is the relevance of resumes in the age of GitHub, Stack Exchange, Coursera, Udacity, blogs, etc.?

  My resume is no longer relevant. It can no longer contain an adequate description of my technical abilities. One can get a much better sense of what I am capable of by looking at my GitHub repositories, my Stack Exchange profiles, and the various courses that I am taking at Udacity and Coursera. The problem is that I have no idea how to tell employers that those are the places to look if they want an accurate description of what I can do. Every time a recruiter contacts me I gently nudge them towards all the resources I just mentioned and I also provide a link to a publicly visible Google doc that contains my resume along with links to all those resources. Yet, they keep coming back asking for a more descriptive resume. How can I make it even more blatantly obvious that if somebody wants to hire me then they can save themselves a whole bunch of trouble by just clicking on a few links and browsing around?

• My application's bounce rate jumped from 30% to 80% overnight

  My application is provided as a service that is embedded in other sites. I have google analytics installed on the login popup dialog which is a page of my application, which is opened from the host site (OAuth). About a week ago, I've noticed a sharp decrease in the number of new users registrations and a jump in the bounce rate (from ~30% to ~80%). This happened without any change in the application. I looked into technical parameters like page load time and error rates, but could not see any change in there. Any ideas what can cause this behavior?

During a set of morning sessions, I presented on some of the new things that we've done in Oracle Solaris 11 and our focus for the future. One of the sessions I presented was giving a quick technical overview of what a typical application deployment scenario would look like using technologies like the Image Packaging System (IPS), Service Management Facility (SMF), Oracle Solaris Zones, and network virtualization. While it's just a simple example, it provides the basic building blocks for a more advanced configuration that a data center would typically deploy. • What standard superseded 830-1998?

  I have been looking into how to document software projects more formally, and I have learned about IEEE 830-1998: Recommended Practice for Software Requirements Specifications. However, as you can see from that link, it has been superseded. I know that 830-1998, and probably even 830-1993, are probably just fine for use. However, if nothing else, I would like to know what standard has superseded it. In this case it may not matter, but if other standards are superseded for more technical things, I think it would be a good idea to link somewhere what standard superseded another (if it is not another one in the same line (830, in this case)). It is worth mentioning that: The most recent standard when searching for "Software Requirements Specifications" or "Software Requirements" on the IEEE Standards Association website is 830-1993, The 2004 (current) version of SWEBOK references 830-1993 (paragraph 2.5), The document's Wikipedia article doesn't mention that the standard was superseded. TLDR: How do you find what standard superseded another, and which one took 830-1998's place?

• It's 2011 - why do I still have to use tables for email?

  This might seem like a rant, but I am curious. CSS replaced tables for layout a long time ago. But we still have to use tables for layout when creating rich emails. Why is this? Are there any other options? Are there really technical constraints that prevent CSS from working in an email. What are they? I can see how linked or embedded style sheets might be a problem, but not even inline styles work. Is this ever going to change?

• Seperate .com domain name purchasing for a VPS

  I am looking at getting a VPS with RackSRV, and they don't sell domain names, but are happy to set it up after I get one elsewhere. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can purchase just the domain, and not have any hassles moving it afterwards? (Or can I just purchase the domain and make it point at the RackSRV ip address, while still using the domain sellers' control panel? I don't really understand that part of it enough! :)) I want the domain name registered in my name, ideally with myself as the technical and administrative contacts for simple transfers.
