  • Python multiprocessing global variable updates not returned to parent

    - by user1459256
I am trying to return values from subprocesses but these values are unfortunately unpicklable. So I used global variables in threads module with success but have not been able to retrieve updates done in subprocesses when using multiprocessing module. I hope I'm missing something. The results printed at the end are always the same as initial values given the vars dataDV03 and dataDV04. The subprocesses are updating these global variables but these global variables remain unchanged in the parent. import multiprocessing # NOT ABLE to get python to return values in passed variables. ants = ['DV03', 'DV04'] dataDV03 = ['', ''] dataDV04 = {'driver': '', 'status': ''} def getDV03CclDrivers(lib): # call global variable global dataDV03 dataDV03[1] = 1 dataDV03[0] = 0 # eval( 'CCL.' + lib + '.' + lib + '( "DV03" )' ) these are unpicklable instantiations def getDV04CclDrivers(lib, dataDV04): # pass global variable dataDV04['driver'] = 0 # eval( 'CCL.' + lib + '.' + lib + '( "DV04" )' ) if __name__ == "__main__": jobs = [] if 'DV03' in ants: j = multiprocessing.Process(target=getDV03CclDrivers, args=('LORR',)) jobs.append(j) if 'DV04' in ants: j = multiprocessing.Process(target=getDV04CclDrivers, args=('LORR', dataDV04)) jobs.append(j) for j in jobs: j.start() for j in jobs: j.join() print 'Results:\n' print 'DV03', dataDV03 print 'DV04', dataDV04 I cannot post to my question so will try to edit the original. • XSLT: If Node = A then set B=1 Else B=2

    - by Larry
I am looping thru looking at the values of a Node. If Node = B, then B has one of two possible meanings. --If Node = A has been previously found in the file, then the value for A should be sent as 1. --If Node = A has NOT been found in the file, the the value for A should be sent as 2. where file is the xml source to be transformed I cannot figure out how to do this. If I was using a programming language that allowed for a variable to have its value reassigned/changed, then it is easy. But, with XSLT variables are set once.

  • MacOSX + Eclipse: Rename variable function not working

    - by MIsha
Good day. I have Eclipse PHP Galileo for Mac OSX, 32bit Cocoa version. The problem is the rename function doesn't work properly. While editing PHP file I choose Refactor-Rename menu or a rename hotkey and Eclipse doesn't offer me to rename a variable, instead a rename file dialog appears. Tried to configure hotkeys but no luck. If you do know the solution – please tell. Thank you.

  • use variable within a linq query

    - by jstawski
take this linq into consideration: list.Where(sil => sil.XML.Element("ticket") != null && sil.XML.Element("ticket").Attribute("id").Value == smsRequestIn.TicketID) if the "ticket" element is not null it searches for it twice and hence is not very effective. Is there a way to use some sort of variables within the linq expression so I can reference the variable instead of doing a double search for the "ticket" element or is linq intelligent enough to not do a double search?

  • MySQL primary/foreign key size?

    - by David
I seem to see a lot of people arbitrarily assigning large sizes to primary/foreign key fields in their MySQL schemas, such as INT(11) and even BIGINT(20) as WordPress uses. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but even an INT(4) would support (unsigned) values up to over 4 billion. Change it to INT(5) and you allow for values up to a quadrillion, which is more than you would ever need, unless possibly you're storing geodata at NASA/Google, which I'm sure most of us aren't. Is there a reason people use such large sizes for their primary keys? Seems like a waste to me...

  • jQuery .get appends an unknown variable to URL

    - by ILMV
I'm using this code as the starting point to an overhaul of our JavaScript framework: $("#get").click(function(){ $("#result").html(ajax_load); $.get( "http://www.google.com", {}, function(responseText){ $("#result").html(responseText); }, "html" ); }); But when the request is made it includes a variable within the URL that I am unfarmiliar with, here is what Firebug says it's requesting: http://www.google.com/?_=1268993359215 How do I get rid of this, when we target our internal scripts it's firing a 404 error :-( Cheers!

  • libpcap read packet size

    - by spicyramen
I started to write an application which will read RTP/H.264 video packets from an existing .pcap file, I need to read the packet size. I tried to use packet-len or header-len, but it never displays the right number of bytes for packets (I'm using wireshark to verify packet size - under Length column). How to do it? This is part of my code: while (packet = pcap_next(handle,&header)) { u_char *pkt_ptr = (u_char *)packet; struct ip *ip_hdr = (struct ip *)pkt_ptr; //point to an IP header structure struct pcap_pkthdr *pkt_hdr =(struct pcap_pkthdr *)packet; unsigned int packet_length = pkt_hdr->len; unsigned int ip_length = ntohs(ip_hdr->ip_len); printf("Packet # %i IP Header length: %d bytes, Packet length: %d bytes\n",pkt_counter,ip_length,packet_length); Packet # 0 IP Header length: 180 bytes, Packet length: 104857664 bytes Packet # 1 IP Header length: 52 bytes, Packet length: 104857600 bytes Packet # 2 IP Header length: 100 bytes, Packet length: 104857600 bytes Packet # 3 IP Header length: 100 bytes, Packet length: 104857664 bytes Packet # 4 IP Header length: 52 bytes, Packet length: 104857600 bytes Packet # 5 IP Header length: 100 bytes, Packet length: 104857600 bytes Another option I tried is to use: pkt_ptr- I get: read_pcapfile.c:67:43: error: request for member ‘len’ in something not a structure or union

  • Why do I get this error when trying to set up a class variable

    - by Jennifer
I'm new to PHP so maybe I am overlooking something here but the following: class someClass { var $id = $_GET['id']; function sayHello() { echo "Hello"; } } gives the following error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in C:\xampp\htdocs\files\classes.php on line 13 If instead of $_GET['id'] I set the variable $id to a string, everything is fine though.

  • Using match variable $1 for a substitution in Perl

    - by justintime
What is the cleanest way of picking up a match variable form a subsitution in Perl I sometimes find myself writing s/(something)// ; my $x = $1 ; then I realise that if the s/ / / fails $1 might be carrying over a value from a previous match. So I try my $x = 'defaultvalue' ; if ( s/(something)// ) { $x = $1 ; } Is this be cleanest way of doing it.

  • Subclass not seeing superclass' instance variable

    - by hyn
I have a situation where my subclass is not seeing the superclass' instance variable x. The ivar is obviously @protected by default, so why do I get a compiler error "x undeclared"? If I make this ivar a property then I can access it by self.x. What's worse is sometimes the error disappears, so something in my code is obviously causing this error but I cannot figure it out.
