• 'abstract class' versus 'normal class' for a reusable library

  I'm developing a reusable library and have been creating abstract classes, so the client can then extend from these. QUESTION: Is there any reason in fact I should use an abstract class here as opposed to just a normal class? Note - Have already decided I do not want to use interfaces as I want to include actual default methods in my library so the client using it doesn't have to write the code.

• Application Freezing after some idle time

  Hello, I am developing a software using C# 2.0 which uses about 200MB of memory and occasionally high CPU. The problem is, when i am leaving my machine idle for about 20-30 mins with the application running, after i come back and try to use the application, it freezes for about 2 mins, then becomes interactive. Why does this happen? Is there any way to avoid this? Thank you all. Regards, -Rakib

  I am developing a Crystal Report in Visual Studio 2008. I am trying to implement optional parameters so that a user does not have to specify a value or range for a particular field. Essentially, this means there is no filtering done on that field if the user wishes. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Does anyone have any ideas?   In a web LOB web based SaaS product we are developing that we explicitly not support IE 6, only IE7/8, FF 3, Chrome, Opera, WebKit etc... which allow px resize as standard, is it still important to use em rather than px? Its a lot more work to consider the compute font size (size em are computed from their inheritance chain) especially when nesting html reuse components where a font-size has already been specified in an outer container.

Of the editors we've looked at, both TinyMCE and FreeRichTextEditor are very close fits, but indenting with tab seems to only work in WebKit-based browsers. Is there a (preferably free) cross-browser compatible rich text editor that supports both of these features, or a way of 'fixing' tab support in Trident and Mozilla-based browsers?

Opening files in Source view only takes 2 seconds.

  I am developing an application in which I need to extract the audio from a video. The audio needs to be extracted in .wav format but I do not have a problem with the video format. Any format will do, as long as I can extract the audio in a wav file.
