  • Insert a snippet from a Visual Studio macro

    I have a situation where I want to run a Visual Studio macro that has the user type something in an InputBox, then inserts a snippet and includes that text somewhere in it. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to insert the snippet from macro code. It seems like it'd be something like DTE.ExecuteCommand("Edit.InvokeSnippetFromShortcut") or DTE.ExecuteCommand("Edit.InvokeSnippetFromShortcut", "theSnippetName") but those don't work. Any ideas?

I) Code snippet: cmb1.Datasource= dt; cmb1.Valuemember = "value"; Does the control rendering happens 2 time for the control, 1 more time extra because of the value member getting changed after data source assigned.   • Windows Service HTTPListener Memory Issue

    Hi all, Im a complete novice to the "best practices" etc of writing in any code. I tend to just write it an if it works, why fix it. Well, this way of working is landing me in some hot water. I am writing a simple windows service to server a single webpage. (This service will be incorperated in to another project which monitors the services and some folders on a group of servers.) My problem is that whenever a request is recieved, the memory usage jumps up by a few K per request and keeps qoing up on every request. Now ive found that by putting GC.Collect in the mix it stops at a certain number but im sure its not meant to be used this way. I was wondering if i am missing something or not doing something i should to free up memory.     Hi, Im working with a CD722UN Customer Display for our POS application. it comes with a USB2.0 connection and a installation package containing a driver ect.. now, for my application. how should i do when i want to access this driver? at the moment i'm using the "CD722UN application"s .dll path but that can warry from clients OS ect..     I'm having trouble getting my head around converting a traditional SQL aggregate query into a LINQ one. When I try to Group ih I get errors about i being out of scope/context, and I'm not sure how else to go about it.

    Could someone here please help me understand how to determine when floating point limitations will cause errors in your calculations. For example the following code. CalculateTotalTax = function (TaxRate, TaxFreePrice) { return ((parseFloat(TaxFreePrice) / 100) * parseFloat(TaxRate)).toFixed(4); }; I have been unable to input any two values that have caused for me an incorrect result for this method. If I remove the toFixed(4) I can infact see where the calculations start to lose accuracy (somewhere around the 6th decimal place). Having said that though, my understanding of floats is that even small numbers can sometimes fail to be represented or have I misunderstood and can 4 decimal places (for example) always be represented accurately. MSDN explains floats as such... This means they cannot hold an exact representation of any quantity that is not a binary fraction (of the form k / (2 ^ n) where k and n are integers) Now I assume this applies to all floats (inlcuding those used in javascript). Fundamentally my question boils down to this. How can one determine if any specific method will be vulnerable to errors in floating point operations, at what precision will those errors materialize and what inputs will be required to produce those errors? Hopefully what I am asking makes sense.

  • Cannot Debug Visual Basic 6 ActiveX Component On 64-bit OS

    Hi, The situation might sound a bit weird but I have to play with what I have. There's a Win2003 64-bit server OS and a legacy application written using Visual Studio 6. The app consists of two parts: ActiveX components written in VB6 and C++ code which uses them. I need to debug the components' code. I installed Visual Studio 6 on the server and I'm able to step into the component's code. Then I got following situation: 1) C++ code works until it needs to instantiate component A. 2) At this step we switch to VB6 and start debugging Component's A. 3) In the very beginning component A creates an instance of a class C exposed by component B. At this step VB6 debugger shows error message with title "OLEDB32.DLL" and following text: "Failed to load resource DLL C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\Ole DB\OLEDB32R.DLL" Additional information: The last step in initialization of the class C is opening an ADO connection to SQL server using OLEDB provider. I'd appreciate any ideas on how resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.

    I am generating tables and writing them to word on the fly. I do not know how many tables there will be each time i write the data to word and the problem I am having is the second table is written inside the first cell of my first table. If there was a third table it is put inside the first cell of my second table. Is there a way to move the cursor out of the table? I have tried creating a new range with each table also but the same thing happens. I have also tried things like tbl.Range.InsertParagraphAfter() The closest I came was using the Relocate method, but this only worked for two tables. Thanks Ben
