  • How do I use XML Builder to create xml in rails?

    - by Angela
    I am trying the following, but the output XML is badly formed: def submit xml = Builder::XmlMarkup.new xml.instruct! xml.mail xml.documents xml.document xml.template xml.source "gallery" xml.name "Postcard: Image fill front" @xml_display = xml end I need it to look more like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <mail> <documents> <document> <template> <source>gallery</source> <name>Postcard: Image fill front</name> </template> <sections> <section> <name>Text</name> <text>Hello, World!</text> </section> <section> <name>Image</name> <attachment>...attachment id...</attachment> </section> </sections> </document> </documents> <addressees> <addressee> <name>John Doe</name> <address>123 Main St</address> <city>Anytown</city> <state>AZ</state> <postal-code>10000</postal-code> </addressee> </addressees> </mail>

  • XElement vs Dcitionary

    - by user135498
    Hi All, I need advice. I have application that imports 10,000 rows containing name & address from a text file into XElements that are subsequently added to a synchronized queue. When the import is complete the app spawns worker threads that process the XElements by deenqueuing them, making a database call, inserting the database output into the request document and inserting the processed document into an output queue. When all requests have been processed the output queue is written to disk as an XML doc. I used XElements for the requests because I needed the flexibility to add fields to the request during processing. i.e. Depending on the job type the app might require that it add phone number, date of birth or email address to a request based on a name/address match against a public record database. My questions is; The XElements seems to use quite a bit of memory and I know there is a lot of parsing as the document makes its way through the processing methods. I’m considering replacing the XElements with a Dictionary object but I’m skeptical the gain will be worth the effort. In essence it will accomplish the same thing. Thoughts?

  • Change the content type of a pop up window.

    - by Oscar Reyes
    This question brought a new one: I have a html page and I need it to change the content type when the user press "save" button so the browser prompt to save the file to disk I've been doing this in the server side to offer "excel" versions of the page ( which is basically a html table ) <c:if test="${page.asExcelAction}"> <% response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel"); %> What I'm trying to do now is to do the same, but in the client side with javacript but I can't manage to do it so. This is what I've got so far: <html> <head> <script> function saveAs(){ var sMarkup = document.getElementById('content').innerHTML; //var oNewDoc = document.open('application/vnd.ms-excel'); var oNewDoc = document.open('text/html'); oNewDoc.write( sMarkup ); oNewDoc.close(); } </script> </head> <body> <div id='content'> <table> <tr> <td>Stack</td> <td>Overflow</td> </tr> </table> </div> <input type="button" value="Save as" onClick="saveAs()"/> </body> </html>

  • JQuery Validate: only takes the first addMethod?

    - by Neuquino
    Hi, I need to add multiple custom validations to one form. I have 2 definitions of addMethod. But it only takes the first one... here is the code. $(document).ready(function() { $.validator.addMethod("badSelectionB",function(){ var comboValues = []; for(var i=0;i<6;i++){ var id="comision_B_"+(i+1); var comboValue=document.getElementById(id).value; if($.inArray(comboValue,comboValues) != 0){ comboValues.push(comboValue); }else{ return false; } } return true; },"Seleccione una única prioridad por comisión."); $.validator.addMethod("badSelectionA",function(){ var comboValues = []; for(var i=0;i<6;i++){ var id="comision_A_"+(i+1); var comboValue=document.getElementById(id).value; if($.inArray(comboValue,comboValues) != 0){ comboValues.push(comboValue); }else{ return false; } } return true; },"Seleccione una única prioridad por comisión."); $("#inscripcionForm").validate( { rules : { nombre : "required", apellido : "required", dni : { required: true, digits: true, }, mail : { required : true, email : true, }, comision_A_6: { badSelectionA:true, }, comision_B_6: { badSelectionB: true, } }, messages : { nombre : "Ingrese su nombre.", apellido : "Ingrese su apellido.", dni : { required: "Ingrese su dni.", digits: "Ingrese solo números.", }, mail : { required : "Ingrese su correo electrónico.", email: "El correo electrónico ingresado no es válido." } }, }); }); Do you have any clue of what is happening? Thanks in advance,

  • Hierarchical object model with property inheritance and event bubbling?

    - by Winston Fassett
    I'm writing a document-based client application and I need a DOM or WPF-like, but non-visual model that: Is a tree composed of elements Can accept an unlimited number of custom properties that get/set any CLR type, including collections. Can inherit their values from their parent Can inherit their default values from an ancestor Can be derived/calculated from other properties, ancestors, or descendants Support event bubbling / tunneling There will be a core set of properties but other plugins may add their own or even create custom documents Supports full inspection by the owning document in order to persist the tree and attributes in an XML format. I realize that's a tall order but I was really hoping there would be something out there to help me get started. Unfortunately WPF DependencyObjects are too closed, proprietary, and coupled to WPF to be of any use as a document model. My needs also have a strong resemblance to the HTML DOM but I haven't been able to find any clean DOM implementations that could be decoupled from HTML or ported to .NET. My current platform is .NET/C# but if anyone knows of anything that might be useful for inspiration or embedding, regardless of the platform, I'd love to know.

  • Can I use ext3 as a shared fs if I add a lock manager ?

    - by edomaur
    I need a cluster filesystem for an iSCSI device. The problem is that the servers to which it is connected generate datafiles which must be read by every other servers. Except for the writing and deleting of such files, I do not need a full locking scheme like in OCFS2 or GFS2. So, can I use a distributed lock manager (DLM) on top of an ext3 filesystem or must I use only specialized filesystem ?

  • Confused as to use a class or a function: Writing XML files using lxml and Python

    - by PulpFiction
    Hi. I need to write XML files using lxml and Python. However, I can't figure out whether to use a class to do this or a function. The point being, this is the first time I am developing a proper software and deciding where and why to use a class still seems mysterious. I will illustrate my point. For example, consider the following function based code I wrote for adding a subelement to a etree root. from lxml import etree root = etree.Element('document') def createSubElement(text, tagText = ""): etree.SubElement(root, text) # How do I do this: element.text = tagText createSubElement('firstChild') createSubElement('SecondChild') As expected, the output of this is: <document> <firstChild/> <SecondChild/> </document> However as you can notice the comment, I have no idea how to do set the text variable using this approach. Is using a class the only way to solve this? And if yes, can you give me some pointers on how to achieve this?

  • DFS "clobering" files

    - by Badger
    We have DFS setup using the DFS Management Administrator Tool. I turned on replication in the Distributed File System Administrator Tool as well and this morning we lost tons of files from that share. Please explain to me why this was wrong and if there is anything that can be done to repair it. (No, we don't have backups. We have some shadow copies, but those were deleted as well. We have been using DFS as its own backup)

  • Attempt to use DLL results in error.

    - by abhi
    I am using a library (DLL) that uses the Oracle.DataAccess DLL to connect to the database. I am doing in in C# .NET framework 3.5 When I attempt to compile, the compilation takes place, but the executable throws this error message. Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.111.7.20, Culture= neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. Is there some way to get around this? What could be causing this to happen?

  • Facebook new js api and cross-domain file

    - by vondip
    Hi all, I am building a simple facebook iframe application. I've decided since the code is separate from facebook none the less, I will also create a connect website as well. In my connect website I'm trying to figure out the following: I am using facebook's new api and I am calling the init function. I can't seem to figure out where I combine my cross-domain file. There's no mention of it in their documentation either. http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/javascript/FB.init I am referring to these lines of code: <div id="fb-root"></div> <script> window.fbAsyncInit = function() { FB.init({appId: 'your app id', status: true, cookie: true, xfbml: true}); }; (function() { var e = document.createElement('script'); e.async = true; e.src = document.location.protocol + '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js'; document.getElementById('fb-root').appendChild(e); }()); </script>

  • How do I write unescaped XML outside of a CDATA

    - by kazanaki
    Hello I am trying to write XML data using Stax where the content itself is HTML If I try xtw.writeStartElement("contents"); xtw.writeCharacters("<b>here</b>"); xtw.writeEndElement(); I get this <contents>&lt;b&gt;here&lt;/b&gt;</contents> Then I notice the CDATA method and change my code to: xtw.writeStartElement("contents"); xtw.writeCData("<b>here</b>"); xtw.writeEndElement(); and this time the result is <contents><![CDATA[<b>here</b>]]></contents> which is still not good. What I really want is <contents><b>here</b></contents> So is there an XML API/Library that allows me to write raw text without being in a CDATA section? So far I have looked at Stax and JDom and they do not seem to offer this. In the end I might resort to good old StringBuilder but this would not be elegant. Update I agree mostly with the answers so far. However instead of <b>here</b> I could have a 1MB HTML document that I want to embed in a bigger XML document. What you suggest means that I have to parse this HTML document in order to understand its structure. I would like to avoid this if possible.

  • WYSIWYG in Doxygen

    - by Adam Shiemke
    I'm working on a fairly large project written in C. The idea was to build a library of modular blocks that can be reused across several platforms. Each module is assocaited with a word document in .docx format (huge pain to diff-merge). In these docs, an interface section is specified, listing datatypes and publicly accessable functions. These were often inconsistant with the actual implementation in code, and wading through all this documentation was a pain. I've been working to switch to doxygen to simplify document managemnet. I haven't found a good way to embed the previously written documentation into the doxygen output. I've copy-pasted them into sections and used modules to group the sources together, but the document sections look ugly in the comments (the output is pretty) and since doxygen takes a while to parse through our code (about 30 mins), validating formatting is a pain. Is there some way to WYSIWIG large blocks of documentation into doxygen? I feel this would improve the number of people documenting their code, and the quality of that documentation. I considered linking to html, but that splits out the documentation. I also considered putting them inline in html, but this also seems like a pain and would mean everyone needs a WYSIWIG HTML edditor (or some html skillz). Any ideas on how to make things easier and prettier? Thanks loads.

  • Why do my CouchDB databases grow so fast?

    - by konrad
    I was wondering why my CouchDB database was growing to fast so I wrote a little test script. This script changes an attributed of a CouchDB document 1200 times and takes the size of the database after each change. After performing these 1200 writing steps the database is doing a compaction step and the db size is measured again. In the end the script plots the databases size against the revision numbers. The benchmarking is run twice: The first time the default number of document revision (=1000) is used (_revs_limit). The second time the number of document revisions is set to 1. The first run produces the following plot The second run produces this plot For me this is quite an unexpected behavior. In the first run I would have expected a linear growth as every change produces a new revision. When the 1000 revisions are reached the size value should be constant as the older revisions are discarded. After the compaction the size should fall significantly. In the second run the first revision should result in certain database size that is then keeps during the following writing steps as every new revision leads to the deletion of the previous one. I could understand if there is a little bit of overhead needed to manage the changes but this growth behavior seems weird to me. Can anybody explain this phenomenon or correct my assumptions that lead to the wrong expectations?

  • Ajax Javascript method cannot be called

    - by blackmage
    I made this method to load javascript functions dynamically. It does include the .js file but when I call a method, the method says that it is undefinited. The following to .js files are ajax_object.js and user_manager.js . The alert outside the function is read and works but the alert inside does not. enter code here //ajax_object.js //Load a javascript library function loadJavascript( src, url ){ XMLHttpRequestObject=getXmlHttpRequestObject(); if( XMLHttpRequestObject){ XMLHttpRequestObject.onreadystatechange = function() { if (XMLHttpRequestObject.readyState == 4 ){ if (XMLHttpRequestObject.status == 200 || XMLHttpRequestObject.status == 304) { includeJavaScript( src, url, XMLHttpRequestObject.responseText ); } } } } XMLHttpRequestObject.open('GET', url, true); XMLHttpRequestObject.send(null); }//end LoadJavaScript //Add Library to header function includeJavaScript(src, fileUrl, xmlObject) { if ( ( xmlObject != null ) && ( !document.getElementById( src ) ) ){ var documentHead = document.getElementsByTagName('HEAD').item(0); var includeScript = document.createElement( "script" ); includeScript.language = "javascript"; includeScript.type = "text/javascript"; //includeScript.id = src; includeScript.src=fileUrl.concat(src); includeScript.defer = true; includeScript.text = xmlObject; documentHead.appendChild( includeScript ); } } //user_manager.js //First alert is read alert("Outside User Manager"); function selectUserManagerModuleType(){ XMLHttpRequestObject=getXmlHttpRequestObject(); //This doesn't work //throws selectUserManagerModuleType undefined alert("Inside The User Manager"); }

  • Enterprise level control of ClickOnce product on corporate network with group policy?

    - by MrEdmundo
    Hi there I'm a developer looking at introducing ClickOnce deployment for an internal .NET Winforms application that will be distributed via the corporate network. Currently the product roll out and updates are handled by Group Policy however I would like to control the updates via ClickOnce deployment now. What I would like to know is, how should I initially roll out the package to make sure that all users have got it. Can I use a combination of Group Policy (the roll out) and then rely on the ClickOnce deployment model for any further updates?

  • How-to display a .gif as background image?

    - by Vito De Tullio
    Hi! I have a javascript "loading" function like this: function splashScreen() { var div = document.createElement('div'); div.appendChild(document.createTextNode("some text")); div.setAttribute("style", "position: fixed; " + "width: 100%; height: 100%; " + "left: 0; top: 0; " + "z-index: 1000; " + "background: #fff url('img/loading.gif') no-repeat center; " + "font-size: x-large; " + "text-align: center; " + "line-height: 3em; " + "opacity: 0.75; " + "filter: alpha(opacity=75); "); document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(div); return true; } I use this function in the form action (onsubmit="return splashScreen()") to show a "rotating logo" while the next page load... The problem is in that "img/loading.gif" and safari (on winXP): in ff and ie I have no problems, and I clearly see the animated gif. In safari I can't see it. If I change the image with a (obviously static) png the image appears... Am I doing something wrong? What's the problem with safari?

  • Convert string to variable in Javascript

    - by waiwai933
    Is there any way to convert a string to a variable in Javascript? Right now, what I have is a script that updates data based on the values of the select box: <script type="text/javascript"> var a = new Array(); a[0] = 'Name'; a[1] = 'Description'; var b = new Array(); b[0] = 'Name 2'; b[1] = 'Description 2'; function changeSystem(){ var selectedAccount=document.getElementById('selected_option').value; document.getElementById('name').innerHTML = selectedAccount[0]; document.getElementById('description').innerHTML = selectedAccount[1]; } </script> <form method="POST"> <select onchange="changeSystem()" id="selected_option"> <option>A</option> <option>B</option> </select> </form> <span id="name"></span><br> <span id="description"></span><br> selectedAccount is the string of the chosen element in <select>. However, for it to access the array, it needs to be a variable, i.e. a[0] instead of 'a'[0]. What solutions are there to this?

  • Javascript changing source of an image

    - by Pete Herbert Penito
    Hi Everyone! I have some javascript which runs a timer that animates something on the website. It all works perfectly but I want to get an image to change when the animation is run, It uses jquery: if(options.auto && dir=="next" && !clicked) { timeout = setTimeout(function(){ if (document.images['bullet1'].src == "img/bulletwhite.png") { document.images['bullet1'].src = "img/bullet.png"; document.images['bullet2'].src = "img/bulletwhite.png"; } animate("next",false); },diff*options.speed+options.pause); } options.auto means that its automatically cycling, dir is the direction of the motion and clicked is whether or not the user clicked it. Is there something wrong with my syntax here? I ran firebug with it, and it doesn't throw any errors, it simply won't work. Any advice would help! I should mention that the src of bullet1 starts at bulletwhite.png and then I was hoping for it to change to bullet.png and have bullet2 change to bulletwhite.png.

  • Why doesn't this code work correctly?

    - by MisterSir
    I'm working on a website that displays galleries, using jCarousel. But no matter what I try, I can't get it to work, and I need to finish this by today. I have a very urgent schedule. My code basically takes image URLs from a database and sends them to AJAX, which passes it to jCarousel which makes the gallery. But there are a few problems: It doesn't display correctly! I can only get the last item pulled from the database, and it displays on the bottom-most row. After the item pulled from the database is displayed, the first time I click on "prev" there's no scroll effect, and the item just disappears! Only if I click on "next" 2-3 times there's a scroll effect and the item remains visible. My items are always displayed at the end of the carousel! This is urgent.. Please help me fix this. about.html: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en-us"> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/lib/jquery.jcarousel.min.js"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/skins/tango/skin.css" /> <!--<style type="text/css"> #wrapper { width: 700px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } #carousel { margin-top: 120px; padding-left: 120px; } #side { padding-left: 550px; position: absolute; padding-top: 120px; } #hidden { color: #FFFFFF; } </style>--> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery.easing['BounceEaseOut'] = function(p, t, b, c, d) { if ((t/=d) < (1/2.75)) { return c*(7.5625*t*t) + b; } else if (t < (2/2.75)) { return c*(7.5625*(t-=(1.5/2.75))*t + .75) + b; } else if (t < (2.5/2.75)) { return c*(7.5625*(t-=(2.25/2.75))*t + .9375) + b; } else { return c*(7.5625*(t-=(2.625/2.75))*t + .984375) + b; } }; function mycarousel_initCallback(carousel) { jQuery('#mycarousel-next').bind('click', function() { carousel.next(); return false; }); jQuery('#mycarousel-prev').bind('click', function() { carousel.prev(); return false; }); }; jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery('#mycarousel').jcarousel({ easing: 'BounceEaseOut', wrap: "first", initCallback: mycarousel_initCallback, animation: 1000, scroll: 3, visible: 3, buttonNextHTML: null, buttonPrevHTML: null }); jQuery('#mycarousel2').jcarousel({ easing: 'BounceEaseOut', animation: 1000, wrap: "first", initCallback: mycarousel_initCallback, scroll: 3, visible: 3, buttonNextHTML: null, buttonPrevHTML: null }); jQuery('#mycarousel3').jcarousel({ easing: 'BounceEaseOut', animation: 1000, scroll: 3, wrap: "first", initCallback: mycarousel_initCallback, visible: 3, buttonNextHTML: null, buttonPrevHTML: null }); }); var prevButton = null; function getObject(b, el) { var currbutton = b; var http; var url = "about.php"; var parameters = "d=carousel&cat=" + currbutton; try { http = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch(e) { try { http = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch(e) { http = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } function getServer() { if (http.readyState == 4) { var i = 0; var liArr = http.responseText; var built = liArr.split(", "); var li = document.createElement("li"); var ul1 = document.getElementById("mycarousel"); var ul2 = document.getElementById("mycarousel2"); var ul3 = document.getElementById("mycarousel3"); if (el != prevButton) { prevButton = el; while (ul1.hasChildNodes() ) {ul1.removeChild(ul1.lastChild);} while (ul2.hasChildNodes() ) {ul2.removeChild(ul2.lastChild);} while (ul3.hasChildNodes() ) {ul3.removeChild(ul3.lastChild);} } else return 0; while (i < (built.length) / 3) { li.innerHTML = built[i]; ul1.appendChild(li); i++; } while (i < ((built.length) / 3)*2) { li.innerHTML = built[i]; ul2.appendChild(li); i++; } while (i < (built.length)) { li.innerHTML = built[i]; ul3.appendChild(li); i++; } } } http.open("POST", url, true); http.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); http.setRequestHeader("Content-length", parameters.length); http.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); http.onreadystatechange = getServer; http.send(parameters); } </script> </head> <body> <span id="hidden"> </span> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="side"> <form name="cats"> <input type="button" value="Hats" onclick="getObject('hats', this);"/><br /> <input type="button" value="Pants" onclick="getObject('pants', this);"/><br /> <input type="button" value="Shirts" onclick="getObject('shirts', this);"/><br /> </form> </div> <div id="carousel"> <ul id="mycarousel" class="jcarousel-skin-tango"> </ul> <ul id="mycarousel2" class="jcarousel-skin-tango"> </ul> <ul id="mycarousel3" class="jcarousel-skin-tango"> </ul> <input type="button" id="mycarousel-prev" value="prev" /> <input type="button" id="mycarousel-next" value="next" /> </div> </div> </body> </html> I commented the CSS because I thought it was giving me trouble, but honestly I have no idea what the hell's going on with jCarousel. about.php: <?php echo "<img width='75' height='75' src='http://static.flickr.com/66/199481236_dc98b5abb3_s.jpg' />, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi"; ?> Also, even if there are no other items than what is displayed, I'm still able to scroll back, but not forward, assumingly because my item is always placed at the end of the carousel. I know it looks like a lot of code but it's really not! My formatting takes a lot of lines, the commented CSS takes a lot, and a lot of the code is HTML and jCarousel configuration, and there's also the BounceEasing effect which takes a few lines. There's not much actual code! So as I said, this is urgent and I need this fixed. But I can't get it to work. Please help me! Thanks for your time! EDIT: I changed the code a bit, but it still does not work. I really need help on this one!! EDIT: I added document.createElement("li"); to each while loop. Now all my items are displayed, but they are displayed vertically and not horizontally on each row. Other than that all other problems are the same. EDIT: Oh and also, in the row my image displays, only the image is there. Maybe jCarousel doesn't accept img and text, I don't know.

  • Problem with launching JAGUAR in R

    - by Gerry
    Windows XP, R 2.11.1, Java JRE6 I just installed the Jaguar package. From an R console, I can do this: > library(JGR) Loading required package: rJava Loading required package: JavaGD Loading required package: iplots Please use the corresponding JGR launcher to start JGR. Run JGR() for details. You can also use JGR(update=TRUE) to update JGR. and so JGR appears to be correctly installed. JGR() yields On Windows JGR must be started using the JGR.exe launcher. Please visit http://www.rosuda.org/JGR/ to download it. > I'm not sure how to run Jaguar - I know I have to run jgr.exe - but should R be already open? If so, should the JGR library be already loaded? I've tried all of these, and what seems to happen regardless is a console window opens briefly, then disappears. I've run jrg --debug, with no apparent error message: (same file regardless of choice made above). What should I be doing? Thanks! • Is it possible to render PDF (fPDF) via a javascript?

    - by J. LaRosee
    So, I'm passing some values via jQuery to the server, which generates PDF garble. It goes something like this: $.post('/admin/printBatch', data, // Some vars and such function(data){ if(data) { var batch = window.open('','Batch Print','width=600,height=600,location=_newtab'); var html = data; // Perhaps some header info here?! batch.document.open(); batch.document.write(html); batch.document.close(); $( this ).dialog( "close" ); // jQuery UI } else { alert("Something went wrong, dawg."); } return false; }); The output file looks roughly like so: $pdf->AddPage(null, null, 'A PDF Page'); //.... $pdf->Output('', 'I'); // 'I' sends the file inline to the browser (http://fpdf.org/en/doc/output.htm) What gets rendered to the browser window: %PDF-1.3 3 0 obj <> endobj 4 0 obj <> stream ... I'm missing something major, I just know it... thoughts? Thanks, guys.

  • Javascript functions Math.round(num) vs num.toFixed(0) and browser inconsistencies

    - by eft
    Edit: To clarify, the problem is how to round a number to the nearest integer. i.e. 0.5 should round to 1 and 2.5 shoud round to 3. Consider the following code: <html><head></head><body style="font-family:courier"> <script> for (var i=0;i<3;i++){ var num = i + 0.50; var output = num + " " + Math.round(num) + " " + num.toFixed(0); var node = document.createTextNode(output); var pElement = document.createElement("p"); pElement.appendChild(node); document.body.appendChild(pElement); } </script> </body></html> In Opera 9.63 I get: 0.5 1 0 1.5 2 2 2.5 3 2 In FF 3.03 I get: 0.5 1 1 1.5 2 2 2.5 3 3 In IE 7 I get: 0.5 1 0 1.5 2 2 2.5 3 3 Note the bolded results. Does this mean that toFixed(0) should be avoided?
