  Hi guys, I have a EJB module in remote Glassfish server and application client in my computer. I want to connect from the application client to the remote EJB. Here is the my EJB interface: @Remote public interface BookEJBRemote { public String getTitle(); } Here is the my ejb: @Stateless public class BookEJB implements BookEJBRemote { @Override public String getTitle() { return "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea"; } } I have several questions : Can I use Dependency Injection in the remote application client to connect to the ejb? If so what can i do to achieve this. Do i need to configure in the sun-ejb-jar.xml and sun-application-client.xml? In other words, if i use DI like @EJB MyEJBRemote ejb; How application client container know what ejb to be injected? Where should i specify the information? How can i run the application client? I tried to run package-appclient in the glassfish server to get appclient.jar and copy it to my computer. Then i type appclient.jar -client myAppClient.jar . It didn't work. How do i point the target server? if i cannot use DI in the client then i guess i have to use JNDI lookup. Do i need to configure jndi name in sun-ejb-jar.xml or in the sun-application-client.xml? No matter how i try i never manage to run application client ? Can you guys put some working example? And thank you for every advises and examples?

• Implementing parts of rfc4226 (HOTP) in mysql

  Like the title says, I'm trying to implement the programmatic parts of RFC4226 "HOTP: An HMAC-Based One-Time Password Algorithm" in SQL. I think I've got a version that works (in that for a small test sample, it produces the same result as the Java version in the code), but it contains a nested pair of hex(unhex()) calls, which I feel can be done better. I am constrained by a) needing to do this algorithm, and b) needing to do it in mysql, otherwise I'm happy to look at other ways of doing this. What I've got so far: -- From the inside out... -- Concatinate the users secret, and the number of time its been used -- find the SHA1 hash of that string -- Turn a 40 byte hex encoding into a 20 byte binary string -- keep the first 4 bytes -- turn those back into a hex represnetation -- convert that into an integer -- Throw away the most-significant bit (solves signed/unsigned problems) -- Truncate to 6 digits -- store into otp -- from the otpsecrets table select (conv(hex(substr(unhex(sha1(concat(secret, uses))), 1, 4)), 16, 10) & 0x7fffffff) % 1000000 into otp from otpsecrets; Is there a better (more efficient) way of doing this?

  I'm trying to write an installer for an app I created. I found a suggestion elsewhere that I was trying to follow and it mostly worked. My app is now in the "Open With" list. However, the app won't run at all. Could it be that it's because the app is not being started in its directory, so it can't find the dlls? But when I try to add an index, I get a 401 error. • best practice for boolean REST results

  I have a resource /system/resource And I wish to ask the system a boolean question about the resource that can't be answered by processing on the client (i.e I can't just GET the resource and look through the actual resource data - it requires some processing on the backend using data not available to the client). eg /system/resource/related/otherresourcename I want this is either return true or false. Does anyone have any best practice examples for this type of interaction? Possibilities that come to my mind: use of HTTP status code, no returned body (smells wrong) return plain text string (True, False, 1, 0) - Not sure what string values are appropriate to use, and furthermore this seems to be ignoring the Accept media type and always returning plain text come up with a boolean object for each of my support media types and return the appropriate type (a JSON document with a single boolean result, an XML document with a single boolean field). However this seems unwieldy. I don't particularly want to get into a long discussion about the true meaning of a RESTful system etc - I have used the word REST in the title because it best expresses the general flavour of system I am designing (even if perhaps I am tending more towards RPC over the web rather than true REST). However, if someone has some thoughts on how a true RESTful system avoids this problem entirely I would be happy to hear them.

  I've implemented some extension methods and put those in separate Class Library project. • Is it possible to read data that has been separately copied to the Android sd card without having ro

  I am developing an application that needs to access data on the sd card. When I run on my development device (an odroid with Android 2.1) I have root access and can construct the path using: File sdcard = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); String path = sdcard.getAbsolutePath() + File.separator + "mydata" File data = new File(path); File[] files = data.listFiles(new FilenameFilter() { @Override public boolean accept(File dir, String filename) { return filename.toLowerCase().endsWith(".xyz"); }}); However, when I install this on a phone (2.1) where I do not have root access I get files == null. I assume this is because I do not have the right permissions to read the data from the sd card. I also get files == null when just trying to list files on /sdcard. So the same applies without my constructed path. Also, this app is not intended to be distributed through the app store and is needs to use data copied separately to the sd card so this is a real use-case. It is too much data to put in res/raw (I have tried, it did not work). I have also tried adding: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> to the manifest, even though I only want to read the sd card, but it did not help. I have not found a permission type for reading the storage. There is probably a correct way to do this, but I haven't been able to find it. Any hints would be useful.

  I am trying to debug a HTTP Handler in Visual Studio and the break point is not getting hit. Does anyone have an idea on how to go about debugging HTTP Handlers in Visual Studio? I am using VS 2010 Premium, .NET 4.0 on a Windows 7 machine. In my Web Application I have a HTTP Handler in /HTTPHandler/TrackingHandler.cs The following is in my web config file: <system.webServer> <handlers> <add name="TrackingHandler" path="/tx/*" verb="*" type="ProjectNamespace.TrackingHandler" resourceType="Unspecified" preCondition="integratedMode" /> </handlers> </system.webServer> My HTTP Handler looks like below namespace ProjectNamespace { public class TrackingHandler : IHttpHandler { public bool IsReusable { get { return true; } } public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { //Breakpoint on the very first line below string tracker = Path.GetFileName(context.Request.PhysicalPath); ....... } } } I start my Web Application using any random page in Visual Studio Debug using the builtin Web Server. I thought this should pull up the breakpoint on the first line of ProcessRequest() but it does not. I’d be grateful for any ideas. O. O.

• MS Access Interop - How to set print filename?

  Hi all, I'm using Delphi 2009 and the MS Access Interop COM API. I'm trying to figure out two things, but one is more important than the other right now. I need to know how to set the file name when sending the print job to the spooler. Right now it's defaulting to the Access DB's name, which can be something different than the file's name. I need to just ensure that when this is printed it enters the print spool using the same filename as the actual file itself - not the DB's name. My printer spool is actually a virtual print driver that converts documents to an image. That's my main issue. The second issue is how to specify which printer to use. This is less important at the moment because I'm just using the default printer for now. It would be nice if I could specify the printer to use, though. Does anyone know either of these two issues?   Is it correct that in WCF, I cannot have a service write to a stream that is received by the client? My understanding is that streaming is supported in WCF for requests, responses, or both. Is it true that in all cases, the receiver of the stream must invoke Read ? I would like to support a scenario where the receiver of the stream can Write on it. Is this supported? Let me show it this way. The simplest example of Streaming in WCF is the service returning a FileStream to a client. This is a streamed response. The server code is like this: [ServiceContract] public interface IStreamService { [OperationContract] Stream GetData(string fileName); } public class StreamService : IStreamService { public Stream GetData(string filename) { FileStream fs = new FileStream(filename, FileMode.Open) return fs; } } And the client code is like this: StreamDemo.StreamServiceClient client = new WcfStreamDemoClient.StreamDemo.StreamServiceClient(); Stream str = client.GetData(@"c:\path\to\myfile.dat"); do { b = str.ReadByte(); //read next byte from stream ... } while (b != -1); (example taken from http://blog.joachim.at/?p=33) Clear, right? The server returns the Stream to the client, and the client invokes Read on it. Is it possible for the client to provide a Stream, and the server to invoke Write on it? In other words, rather than a pull model - where the client pulls data from the server - it is a push model, where the client provides the "sink" stream and the server writes into it. Is this possible in WCF, and if so, how? What are the config settings required for the binding, interface, etc? The analogy is the Response.OutputStream from an ASP.NET request. In ASPNET, any page can invoke Write on the output stream, and the content is received by the client. Can I do something similar in WCF? Thanks.

• raw_id_fields for modelforms

  I have a modelform which has one field that is a ForeignKey value to a model which as 40,000 rows. The default modelform tries to create a select box with 40,000 options, which, to say the least is not ideal. Even more so when this modelform is used in a formset factory! In the admin, this is easiely avoidable by using "raw_id_fields", but there doesn't seem to be a modelform equivalent. How can I do this? Here is my modelform: class OpBaseForm(ModelForm): base = forms.CharField() class Meta: model = OpBase exclude = ['operation', 'routes'] extra = 0 raw_id_fields = ('base', ) #does nothing The first bolded line works by not creating the huge unwieldy selectbox, but when I try to save a fieldset of this form, I get the error: "OpBase.base" must be a "Base" instance. In order for the modelform to be saved, 'base' needs to be a Base instance. Apparently, a string representation of a Base primary key isn't enough (at least not automatically). I need some kind of mechanism to change the string that is given my the form, to a Base instance. And this mechanism has to work in a formset. Any ideas? If only raw_id_fields would work, this would be easy as cake. But as far as I can tell, it only is available in the admin.

  I am using VSTO to create an Excel add-in. My plan is to persist objects inside of excel workbooks by serializing them to strings and assigning those strings to be the values of names in the workbook. However, when I call the API function to add the new name, I get a mysterious exception from the COM library. • Guessess of my session value conflicts

  I have a asp.net web form which will submit information to come as emails. Whenever user fill the form and click on submit button,the information user entered will be sent as email. This web form has 4 page. but the web form will not use all 4 page on all requests. if the user select a particular value in first page, the form will bypass the 3rd page and go the last 4th page(like...page1,2,4). IF it is any other values selected in the first page. form will navigate as page1,2,3,4. So now my problem is when multiple users access the same website, the value in the first page get combines from different users and the form will act abnormally.Sometime it will bypass sometimes it will not bypass the page3 Show below is the variable decalrations: Public strRoleType As String = String.Empty Protected Shared isAreaSelected As Integer = 0 Protected Shared isStoreSelected As Integer = 0 Protected Shared isHeadOfficeSelected As Integer = 0 Protected Shared isRegionSelected As Integer = 0 I guess the problem is with strRoleType variable whether it is getting values from different users. • What data structure to use / data persistence

  I have an app where I need one table of information with the following fields: field 1 - int or char field 2 - string (max 10 char) field 3 - string (max 20 char) field 4 - float I need the program to filter on field 1 based upon a segmented control and select a field 2 from a picker. From this data I need to look up field 4 to use in a calculation. Total records will be about 200. I never see it go above 400 - 500. I am going to use a singleton which I am able to do, I just need help with the structure for this with data persistence. What type of data structure should I use for this and should I use NSNumber, NSString, etc. or old data types like float, Char, etc. I thought about a struct put into an array but there is probably a better way. This is new to me so any help or reference to examples would be great. I also thought about a plist or dictionary but it looks like it is just a lookup and a field which obviously won't work. Core data looked like overkill to me. Also, with any recommendation how should I get initial data into it? I want the user to be able to edit and add to the database. Sorry for the old terms, you can see what generation I am from... Thanks in advance!!!!

• Why might stable_sort be affecting my hashtable values?

  I have defined a struct ABC to contain an int ID, string NAME, string LAST_NAME; My procedure is this: Read in a line from an input file. Parse each line into first name and last name and insert into the ABC struct. Also, the struct's ID is given by the number of the input line. Then, push_back the struct into a vector masterlist. I am also hashing these to a hashtable defined as vector< vector , using first name and last name as keywords. That is, If my data is: Garfield Cat Snoopy Dog Cat Man Then for the keyword cash hashes to a vector containing Garfield Cat and Cat Man. I insert the structs into the hashtable using push_back again. The problem is, when I call stable_sort on my masterlist, my hashtable is affected for some reason. I thought it might be happening since the songs are being ordered differently, so I tried making a copy of the masterlist and sorting it and it still affects the hashtable though the original masterlist is unaffected. Any ideas why this might be happening?

• Keeping the UI responsive while parsing a very large logfile

  I'm writing an app that parses a very large logfile, so that the user can see the contents in a treeview format. I've used a BackGroundWorker to read the file, and as it parses each message, I use a BeginInvoke to get the GUI thread to add a node to my treeview. Unfortunately, there's two issues: The treeview is unresponsive to clicks or scrolls while the file is being parsed. I would like users to be able to examine (ie expand) nodes while the file is parsing, so that they don't have to wait for the whole file to finish parsing. The treeview flickers each time a new node is added. Do I have add a configure file for ftp?   I have two scripts. One calls the other with a list of servers as parameters. The second query is designed to execute a WMI query. When I run it manually, it does this perfectly. When I try to run it as a job it hangs forever and I have to remove it.
