  • Setting up local virtual host

    I'm trying to setup a local working copy of my domain and I've modified the "domain" file within /etc/apache2/sites-available/, executed "sudo a2ensite domain" and then restarted apache and my browser is not looking locally for the domain.   • How to set local alias for a machine?

    I would like to set an alias on my local PC for a network machine. I know that it can be done by adding an entry in the hosts file as long as the IP address of the machine is also specified. However, the problem is that IPs are dynamically assigned by a DHCP server so I don't know for sure the IP address. Is there a way to define just an alias based on the machine's network name? P.S.: I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • Adding local users / passwords on Kerberized Linux box

    Right now if I try to add a non-system user not in the university's Kerberos realm I am prompted for a Kerberos password anyway. Obviously there is no password to be entered, so I just press enter and see: passwd: Authentication token manipulation error passwd: password unchanged Typing passwd newuser has the same issue with the same message. I tried using pwconv in the hopes that only a shadow entry was needed, but it changed nothing. I want to be able to add a local user not in the realm and give them a local password without being bothered about Kerberos. I am on Ubuntu 10.04.   • Windows authentication skip for one folder and allow local domain's user

    I have intranet application with windows authentication on it. Annonymous users are not allowed. Now i am trying to add one subfolder which should be allowed to local domain users too. I enabled "annonymous access" iis on that subfolder and that worked. but i am using AJAX(timer control) on one of page of that subfolder and when timer_ticks it gives "sys is undefined error". any idea to solve this issue?     Hello I am new to ubuntu linux and am currently trying to configure my netbeans to work with PHP. I have found several tutorials to install all the applications I need and have installed a virtual directory for netbeans to run in. Unfortunately, whenever netbeans or I myself go to my local host I get an error 403. I tried modifying my settings to allow from localhost (instead of allow from all) but this did not work and am completely out of ideas.

  • Limiting user access to local Gitorious repository

The problem I am facing is that when I set up a new Gitorious project and limit read access permissions to specific users, the repositories inside the project are not visible any more. This happens even though the access permissions of those repositories grant access to these users. Any idea on how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot in advance!

  • How to start a local server and open it in a browser from a shell script

    I have a test suite which runs in a browser (using QUnit, though that's unimportant). The test suite requires a local server running on a particular port. Running the tests currently involves a few steps: node test/server switch to browser of choice open localhost:3000 I'd like to have a single command which starts the server then runs open localhost:3000. Ideally, the node process would remain in the foreground so it could be killed with ^C. I don't have a good understanding of subshells, so I'm not sure whether this is possible.

    I'm quite annoyed with my firefox and Flash files : When I try opening a .swf file with it: If the file is on the web (via http://...), it plays normally in browser If the file is local (via file:///...), firefox only show me a dialog to download it It tried opening a web swf file, downloading it then opening it locally, it's the same. So I guess it's a firefox problem. I'm on Gentoo Linux, and it started today, without any apparent reason.

    I have OS X Server installed on a mac mini. I've created several User accounts, one of which is Account Name: Bob Password: abc123 From the Mac Mini's login screen I can choose "Server" (main account) "Bob" (Bobs account) and "Other..." OS X Server Accounts, from "Other..." if I input Bobs credentials it will log me in. I also have a macbook air, I would like to be able to select from the Login Screen "Other..." input Bobs credentials and have it login to Bobs account, or any other User Account for that matter. My Server is setup as private with the server address: server.network.private Following some googled instructions as well as apples very own instructions I have: Setup an Open Directory with Username: diradmin Password: abc123 Then on the macbook air gone into System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options and clicked Join next to Network Account Server, input my server (server.network.private) with diradmin credentials and its connected. Great. I've also ticked Allow Network Users to Login and Login Window and selected All Users. I was assuming this would allow my macbook air to login to the "Bob" account by selecting "Other..." from the login window although there is no "Other..." option. I then setup a VPN, basic credentials, logged into it on the macbook air and still not much has changed. I am able to share screens with the "Bob" account form my macbook air by logging in by clicking Share Screen... from the Finder under Shared > Network Server and then clicking Login In but this obviously requires the macbook air to already be logged into an account before it can share screens which is not suitable. Is there any way to simply login to the OS X Server User Account from the macbook air's login screen via the "Other..." like it does on the mac mini's login screen? Thanks in advance.   • Postfix unable to find local server

    I'm working with postfix on fedora 9 and I'm attempting to make some changes to a system setup by my predecessor. Currently the postfix server on [mail.ourdomain.com] is setup to forward mail sent to two addresses to another server for processing. The other server [www01.ourdomain.com] receives the email and sends it to a PHP script to be processed. Then that PHP script generates and sends a response to the user who sent the original email. We're adding more web servers to the system and as a result we've decided to move these processing scripts to our admin [admin.ourdomain.com] server to make them easier to keep track of. I've already setup and tested the processing scripts on [admin.ourdomain.com], and on the mail server doing the forwarding [mail.ourdomain.com] I added [admin.ourdomain.com] to /etc/hosts and also added another, aside from the one for [www01.ourdomain.com], entry to /etc/postfix/transport for [admin.ourdomain.com]. I also restarted postfix as well. I've tested the communication from [mail.ourdomain.com] to [admin.ourdomain.com] using telnet and the [admin.ourdomain.com] domain and everything runs correctly. But as soon as I change the forward address and attempt to send an email to the mail server I get a bounce message stating "Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=admin.ourdomain.com type=A: Host not found". If I change the forward settings back to [www01.ourdomain.com] then everything works fine. Is there some setting I'm missing in Postfix? The server itself and telnet work fine it just seems to be postfix that's not able to discover the location of [admin.ourdomain.com].

  • Setting int more than once causes crash

    I'm doing a CABasicAnimation and getting the value from a nested NSMutableArray. Everything is great the first time it runs but crashes when called again either with custom functions or viewDidLoad.   • How to know whether to create a general system or to hack a solution

    I'm new to coding , learning it since last year actually. One of my worst habits is the following: Often I'm trying to create a solution that is too big , too complex and doesn't achieve what needs to be achieved, when a hacky kludge can make the fit. One last example was the following (see paste bin link below) http://pastebin.com/WzR3zsLn After explaining my issue, one nice person at stackoverflow came with this solution instead http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25304170/update-a-field-by-removing-quarter-or-removing-month When should I keep my code simple and when should I create a 'big', general solution? I feel stupid sometimes for building something so big, so awkward, just to solve a simple problem. It did not occur to me that there would be an easier solution. Any tips are welcomed. Best

    Hello, i get the following error when trying to compile my asp.net site after updating the project from vs2008 to vs2010 The type or namespace name 'Syndication' does not exist in the namespace 'System.ServiceModel' (are you missing an assembly reference?) I have the asp.net site targeting 3.5 framework (as it did in vs2008) I also added a reference to System.ServiceModel.Web I also have these using statements at the top of my class: using System.ServiceModel; using System.ServiceModel.Description; using System.ServiceModel.Syndication; using System.ServiceModel.Web; The last 2 complain with the error above, commenting them out produces errors (cannot find WebGet, etc.) like it flipflops. Anyone have any ideas?
