• Dev environment for smart client application

  Hi, we are starting a new smart client project, which is .net winform as client, connecting web service at application server in win 2003. currently, all developers are using win xp pro, to enalbe debugging at both client and server side, we try to get both client and web service installed on XP pc, but the web server require service account to be used for authentication to Active Directory which need IIS6, so it won't work on XP(xp only support IIS5). What is best way to work around this?

• Edit and Continue in Silverlight?

  Edit-And-Continue is one of my favorite debugging tools which I have previously used on C# based Winforms and ASP.NET projects. However, I'm running a Silverlight 3.0 application on VS 2008 and whenever I try to make a change (after breaking) it says "Changes are not allowed when debugging Silverlight applications". Also there isn't an "Enable Edit and Continue" option in the project settings. Does anyone (possibly an insider) know when this feature will be supported by Microsoft??? (I NEED IT!)

  I need some classes for playing short wav sounds, this classes would load this wav files into memory when an instance created, play sounds in background when needed, release this wav files from memory when an instance disposed. How can I do this on C# for windows (.Net 2.0)? (Win API's sndPlaySound, OpenAL or may be any wrapper) Ideally I would love to find an exist solution that simple and able to solve my task. • Move jQuery data() when an element is destroyed and re-created

  Can anyone think of a (preferably quick) way to move the data() attached to a DOM element to a new instance of itself? The lightbox plugin I'm using deletes and re-appends and element to the page in order to display it in the lightbox (to aviod the multiple-ids issue that ASP.net has), and obviously the .data() that is attached to the element is lost when this happens.

  I am using WPF for an image resizing pipeline which has been working beautifully under .NET v3.5. I just upgraded the project to target v4.0 and now all of my resized images are heavily aliased. None of the image pipeline code has changed. Has a default setting changed between v3.5 and v4.0? How do I control the dithering of my resized bitmap images in WPF?

I have set [ValidateInput(false)] and it works when debugging it locally, but I receive the following error when I have published the site: A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (message="<p> <em>Testing</e..."). can anyone explain why the published site is different from the locally site, especially when I have set [ValidateInput(false)]?

  Do you see any problem with this: I'm in ASP.net and I'm using pikachoose jquery slideshow. It works fine in IE and was working in Firefox. • MS Runtime required for app to run, how can I include with setup?

  My application requires access to be installed on the computer or at least the MS Access runtime. Is their a way to include that with the application to check for that component/resource or install it if it isn't? Or would it just be easier to include a link to tell the user where to get the runtime if the error happens? I am using Visual Studio 2008 and the windows form app is written in VB.net.
