  • UIImagePickerController and extracting EXIF data from existing photos

    - by tomtaylor
It's well known that UIImagePickerController doesn't return the metadata of the photo after selection. However, a couple of apps in the app store (Mobile Fotos, PixelPipe) seem to be able to read the original files and the EXIF data stored within them, enabling the app to extract the geodata from the selected photo. They seem to do this by reading the original file from the /private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE/ folder and running it through an EXIF library. However, I can't work out a way of matching a photo returned from the UIImagePickerController to a file on disk. I've explored file sizes, but the original file is a JPEG, whilst the returned image is a raw UIImage, making it impossible to know the file size of the image that was selected. I'm considering making a table of hashes and matching against the first x pixels of each image. This seems a bit over the top though, and probably quite slow. Any suggestions?

  • Mutable class as a child of an immutable class

    - by deamon
I want to have immutable Java objects like this (strongly simplyfied): class Immutable { protected String name; public Immutable(String name) { this.name = name; } public String getName() { return name; } } In some cases the object should not only be readable but mutable, so I could add mutability through inheritance: public class Mutable extends Immutable { public Mutable(String name) { super(name); } public void setName(String name) { super.name = name; } } While this is technically fine, I wonder if it conforms with OOP and inheritance that mutable is also of type immutable. I want to avoid the OOP crime to throw UnsupportedOperationException for immutable object, like the Java collections API does. What do you think? Any other ideas?

  • Forcing a mixed ISO-8859-1 and UTF-8 multi-line string into UTF-8

    - by knorv
Consider the following problem: A multi-line string $junk contains some lines which are encoded in UTF-8 and some in ISO-8859-1. I don't know a priori which lines are in which encoding, so heuristics will be needed. I want to turn $junk into pure UTF-8 with proper re-encoding of the ISO-8859-1 lines. Also, in the event of errors in the processing I want to provide a "best effort result" rather than throwing an error. My current attempt looks like this: $junk = &force_utf8($junk); sub force_utf8 { my $input = shift; my $output = ''; foreach my $line (split(/\n/, $input)) { if (utf8::valid($line)) { utf8::decode($line); } $output .= "$line\n"; } return $output; } While this appears to work I'm certain this is not the optimal solution. How would you improve my force_utf8(...) sub?

  • Code assist in (jsp /jstl) view for Spring MVC model objects in Eclipse

    - by Bjorn Thor Jonsson
In Spring MVC when placing an object in the view model like so: public String getUser( Model model ) { //...fetch user... model.addAttribute( "user", user ); return "viewName"; } and accessing it's values in the JSP / JSTL view like this: ... <p> ${user.name} </p> ... I'm wondering if it is possible to have code assist for the user object in the view? The IDE I'm using is MyEclipse but it would be interesting to know if this is possible in other editors as well. Thanks.

  • iPhone CoreData join

    - by Ken
Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster. (A link to this schema is located here) http://www.weeshsoft.com/pix/DatabasePic.jpg I'm trying to get all LanguageEntries from a database for a given category.categoryName and languageset.languageSetName e.g. NSFetchRequest* fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"LanguageEntry" inManagedObjectContext:del.managedObjectContext]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; NSString* predicateString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Category.categoryName = %@ AND LanguageSet.languageSetName = %@", @"Food", @"English####Spanish"]; fetchRequest.predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:predicateString]; NSError *error = nil; NSArray* objects = [del.managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; This always returns 0 objects. If I set the predicate string to match on one relationship (e.g. Category.categoryName = Food or languageSet.languageSetName = English####Spanish) it will return data. This is baffling, can anyone shed some light? -Ken

  • Can you help me get my head around openssl public key encryption with rsa.h in c++?

    - by Ben
Hi there, I am trying to get my head around public key encryption using the openssl implementation of rsa in C++. Can you help? So far these are my thoughts (please do correct if necessary) Alice is connected to Bob over a network Alice and Bob want secure communications Alice generates a public / private key pair and sends public key to Bob Bob receives public key and encrypts a randomly generated symmetric cypher key (e.g. blowfish) with the public key and sends the result to Alice Alice decrypts the ciphertext with the originally generated private key and obtains the symmetric blowfish key Alice and Bob now both have knowledge of symmetric blowfish key and can establish a secure communication channel Now, I have looked at the openssl/rsa.h rsa implementation (since I already have practical experience with openssl/blowfish.h), and I see these two functions: int RSA_public_encrypt(int flen, unsigned char *from, unsigned char *to, RSA *rsa, int padding); int RSA_private_decrypt(int flen, unsigned char *from, unsigned char *to, RSA *rsa, int padding); If Alice is to generate *rsa, how does this yield the rsa key pair? Is there something like rsa_public and rsa_private which are derived from rsa? Does *rsa contain both public and private key and the above function automatically strips out the necessary key depending on whether it requires the public or private part? Should two unique *rsa pointers be generated so that actually, we have the following: int RSA_public_encrypt(int flen, unsigned char *from, unsigned char *to, RSA *rsa_public, int padding); int RSA_private_decrypt(int flen, unsigned char *from, unsigned char *to, RSA *rsa_private, int padding); Secondly, in what format should the *rsa public key be sent to Bob? Must it be reinterpreted in to a character array and then sent the standard way? I've heard something about certificates -- are they anything to do with it? Sorry for all the questions, Best Wishes, Ben. EDIT: Coe I am currently employing: /* * theEncryptor.cpp * * * Created by ben on 14/01/2010. * Copyright 2010 __MyCompanyName__. • Multiple update panels and multiple postbacks cause entire page to refresh...

    - by Matt
I'm having the same problem I had yesterday... The solution Aristos provided helped solve the problem, but I have other places sending updatepanel postbacks causing the same problem. When an update panel is updated and another request for an update is called before it has a chance to render the first updates, the entire page refreshes instead of just the update panel. I used fiddler to see what was going on and here's what happens... If I wait for the request to return before doing another request I get this: 21443|updatePanel|dnn_ctr1107_CRM_SalesTool_LeadsUpdatePanel| But if I don't wait, I get this: 66|pageRedirect||http://mysite.com/salesdashboard.aspx| The code from the previous question is still the same except I added UpdateMode="Conditional" to the update panel. Any ideas? Or is the only solution to this making sure that 2+ updates for any number of update panels (as long as they're on the same page) never happen? Thanks, Matt

  • Object Oriented Design Questions

    - by Robert
Hello there. I am going to develop a Tic-Tac-Toe game using Java(or maybe other OO Languages). Now I have a picture in my mind about the general design. Interface: Player ,then I will be able to implement a couple of Player classes, based on how I want the opponent to be,for example, random player, intelligent player. Classes: Board class, with a two-dimensional array of integers,0 indicates open,1 indicates me,-1 indicates opponent. The evaluation function will be in here as well,to return the next best move based on the current board arrangement and whose turn it is. Refree class, which will create instance of the Board and two player instances, then get the game begin. This is a rough idea of my OO design, could anybody give me any critiques please,I find this is really beneficial, thank you very much.

  • Interesting SQL Sorting Issue

    - by rofly
It's crunch time, deadline for my most recent contract is coming in two days and almost everything is complete and working fine (knock on wood) except for one issue. In one of my stored procedures, I'm needing to return a result set as follows. group_id | name A101 | Craig A102 | Craig Z101 | Craig Z102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy The names need to be sorted by the first character of the group id and also include the Z101/Z102 entries. By sorting strictly by the group id, I get a result set as follows: A101 | Craig A102 | Craig A101 | Jim A102 | Jim B101 | Andy B102 | Andy Z101 | Andy Z102 | Andy Z101 | Jim Z102 | Jim I really can't think of a solution that doesn't involve me making a cursor and bloating the stored procedure up more than it already is. I'm sure a great mind out there has an elegant solution and I'm eager to see what the community can come up with. Thanks a ton in advance.

  • How to execute "eval" without writing "eval" in JavaScript

    - by Infinity
Here's the deal, we have a big JS library that we want to compress, but YUI compressor doesn't fully compress the code if it finds an "eval" statement, out of fear that it will break something else. That's great and all, but we know exactly what is getting eval'd, so we don't want it to get conservative because there's an eval statement in MooTools JSON.decode So basically the question is, is there any alternative (maybe creative) way of writing a expression that returns the eval function? I tried a few, but no dice: window['eval'](stuff); window['e'+'val'](stuff); // stuff runs in the global scope, we need local scope this['eval'](stuff); // this.eval is not a function (new Function( "with(this) { return " + '(' + stuff + ')' + "}"))() // global scope again Any ideas? Thx

  • Downloading file from server (asp.net) to IE8 Content-Disposition problem with file name

I am downloading a file from the server/database via aspx page. When using the content-disposition inline the document opens in correct application but the file name is the same as the web page. I want the document to open in say MS Word but with the correct file name. Here is the code that I am using Response.Buffer = true; Response.ClearContent(); Response.ClearHeaders(); Response.Clear(); Response.ContentType = MimeType(fileName); //function to return the correct MIME TYPE Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", @"inline;filename=" + fileName); Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", image.Length.ToString()); Response.BinaryWrite(image); Response.Flush(); Response.Close(); So again, I want the file to open in MS Word with the correct document file name so that the user can properly save/view. I understand why but I don't know an alternative. shared function clone(of t)(original as t) as t dim cloned as t 'if class then execute parameterless constructor if getType(t).isClass then cloned = reflector.construct(of t)() dim public_fields = original.getType.getFields() for each field in public_fields dim original_value = field.getValue(original) 'this won't work for value type, but it does work for reference type ??? field.setValue(cloned, original_value) next return cloned end function

  • Can I ensure, using C#, that an X509Certificate was issued by a trusted authority?

    - by dommer
If I use X509Certificate.CreateFromSignedFile to get the certificate used to sign a file, can I confirm that it was signed by a trusted authority - and isn't just a "self-signed" cert of some kind? I want to extract the "Subject" (company) name from the cert to ensure that an unmanaged DLL I'm using is unmolested (I can't checksum it as it's updated frequently and independently) and official. However, I'm concerned that a fake DLL could be signed with a "self-signed" cert and return the original company's name. So, I want to ensure the the cert was issued by Versign, Thwate or similar (anything installed on the cert repository on the machine will be fine). How can I do this, if at all, when using X509Certificate.CreateFromSignedFile? Or does it do this automatically (i.e. a "self-signed" cert will fail)?

  • Getting a .Net remoting service accessible with IP v6 and IP v4

    - by jon.ediger
My company has an existing .Net Remoting service that listens on a port, fronting interfaces used by external systems. This all works great with IP v4 based communications. However, this service now needs to support both IP v4 communications and IP v6 communications. I have found info that the system.runtime.remoting section of the app.config should include two channels as follows: <channel ref="tcp" name="tcp6" port="9000" bindTo="[::]" /> <channel ref="tcp" name="tcp4" port="9000" bindTo="0.0.0.0" /> I've tried this. For communications to this service and a direct response back, this works great. Some of the communications instead return a stream back, either for uploading or downloading large files. These calls fail with the an ArgumentException: IPv4 address 0.0.0.0 and IPv6 address ::0 are unspecified addresses that cannot be used as a target address. Parameter name: hostNameOrAddress How should these config values be modified so that the client will know how to communicate back to the .Net remoting service?
