  • CakePHP HABTM: Editing one item casuses HABTM row to get recreated, destroys extra data

    I'm having trouble with my HABTM relationship in CakePHP. I have two models like so: Department HABTM Location. One large company has many buildings, and each building provides a limited number of services. Each building also has its own webpage, so in addition to the HABTM relationship itself, each HABTM row also has a url field where the user can visit to find additional information about the service they're interested and how it operates at the building they're interested in. The problem: If I edit the name of a Location, all of the DepartmentsLocations that were linked to that Location are re-created with empty URLs. Since the models specify that unique is true, this also causes all of the newer rows to overwrite the older rows, which essentially destroys all of the URLs. I would like to know two things: Can I stop this? If so, how? And, on a less technical and more whiney note: Why does this even happen? It seems bizarre to me that editing a field through Cake should cause so much trouble, when I can easily go through phpMyAdmin, edit the Location name there, and get exactly the result I would expect. Why does CakePHP touch the HABTM data when I'm just editing a field on a row? It's not even a foreign key!

    Hello - I have been stuck on this all weekend and failed miserably! Please help me to claw back my sanity!! Your challenge For my first Silverlight application I thought it would be fun to use the World of Warcraft armoury to list the characters in my guild. This involves making an asyncronous from Silverlight (duh!) to the WoW armoury which is XML based. SIMPLE EH? Take a look at this link and open the source. You'll see what I mean: http://eu.wowarmory.com/guild-info.xml?r=Eonar&n=Gifted and Talented Below is code for getting the XML (the call to ShowGuildies will cope with the returned XML - I have tested this locally and I know it works). I have not managed to get the expected returned XML at all. Notes: If the browser is capable of transforming the XML it will do so, otherwise HTML will be provided. I think it examines the UserAgent I am a seasoned asp.net web developer C# so go easy if you start talking about native to Windows Forms / WPF I can't seem to set the UserAgent setting in .net 4.0 - doesn't seem to be a property off the HttpWebRequest object for some reason - i think it used to be available. Silverlight 4.0 (created as 3.0 originally before I updated my installation of Silverlight to 4.0) Created using C# 4.0 Please explain as if you talking to a web developer and not a proper programming lol!   • MSDN: How can I see what inherits/implements a class/interface?

    One thing I really, really miss from Javadoc is the ability to see which classes inherit the class you're looking at. So if you are looking at an abstract class (such as List) then you would be able to see all classes that inherit/implement the class/interface you're looking at. Is this available in the MSDN and I'm just missing it or is this really a missing feature?

  • Some frames are not showing in Frame Animation

    I am doing a frame to frame animation. My problem is I have given around 10 drawable images in my anim xml. But only first two and last two is showing not all the images. I am doing a translation also on this image.After translation only frame animation starts.Translation is happening and frame animation also happening but it is not showing all the frames.     The Mono 2.6 distribution contains System.Media.SoundPlayer, but attempts to play result in no sound (and no errors) on Mac OS X. All I can find with Google search is obscure references to ALSA. I posted to the Mono-OSX list, but there have been on replies there. I hope someone here has an answer. I think I need to tap into CoreAudio, but don't know how from Mono/C#.

    Hi, I'm developing an application on GlassFish v3 which uses Suns-RI of JavaEE6 and JSF2.0, etc. And the bad thing is, that no changes/switches away from Suns RI can be made (to use MyFaces or something like that). Now, the problem is, that I want to build HtmlDatatable by hand ( in Java code). The datatable should represent a java.util.Map where the first column should display the key and the second the values of the map. I've build successfully a PanelGrid from a java.util.List and used every time the "setExpressionValue" methods of UIComponent to bind the UI to the underlying List. But now, this doesn't work with the Map. Here is a snippet of my code: public HtmlDataTable getEntityDetailsDataTable() { ...   • Is there any way to automatically close filename completetion buffers in Emacs?

    For example, when you open a file via C-x-C-f, you can TAB complete file names, and if there are more than one possible completions, it will pop open a completion buffer with a list of possible completions. The problem is, after you've opened the file, the window the buffer was in switches back to normal, but it doesn't close. Is there any way I can make those buffers close automatically after the file has been opened?

    I am trying to use the load method of FileReference object to load the data and use it to display a thumbnail of the selected image. However, after calling fr.load(), fr.data remains null. I'm using Flex Builder 3.0.2 on Windows 7 with Flex SDK 3.4 and Flash Player 10 Debug. If I evaluate fr.load() in Eclipse's watch variables list, I get an error reading "No such variable: load." Anyone know why this is happening?

    I want to make a program that does an order entry system for beverages. ( i will probably do description, cost) I want to use the Decorator pattern and the observer pattern. I made a UML drawing and saved it as a pic for easy viewing. This site wont let me upload as a word doc so i have to upload a pic - i hope its easily viewable.... I need to know if i am doing the UML / design patterns correctly before moving on to the coding part. Beverage is my abstract component class. Espresso, houseblend, darkroast are my concrete subject classes.. I also have a condiment decorator class milk,mocha,soy,whip. would be my observer? because they would be interested in data changes to cost? Now, would the espresso,houseblend etc, be my SUBJECT and the condiments be my observer? My theory is that Cost is a changes and that the condiments need to know the changes? So, subject = esspresso,houseblend,darkroast,etc.. // they hold cost() Observer = milk,mocha,soy,whip? // they hold cost() would be the concrete components and the milk,mocha,soy,whip? would be the decorator! So, following good software engineering practices "design to an interface and not implementation" or "identify things that change from those that dont" would i need a costbehavior interface? If you look at the UML you will see where i am going with this and see if i am implementing observer + Decorator pattern correctly? I think the decorator is correct. since, the pic is not very viewable i will detail the classes here: Beverage class(register observer, remove observer, notify observer, description) these classes are the concrete beverage classes espresso, houseblend,darkroast, decaf(cost,getdescription,setcost,costchanged) interface observer class(update) // cost? interface costbehavior class(cost) // since this changes? condiment decorator class( getdescription) concrete classes that are linked to the 2 interface s and decorator are: milk,mocha,soy,whip(cost,getdescription,update) these are my decorator/ wrapper classes.
