  • SEO - different data with same title and keywords

    here is my scenario i have a website where i redirect my users basing upon the device they were using, lets say a user is visiting from an iPad, i take him directly to the page of iPad wallpapers, the user selects iPad version & i take the user to the gallery of wallpapers where the user can select & download any wallpaper. Every wallpaper is the required resolution, i have my reasons for doing this, now the thing is there are diff. resolution. versions of an image appearing one 5 diff. sections of my website, each having their own view page Now there is only one record in db.table for the image, and basing on the my consistent naming convention of the images, i pick the required image. this means when 5 different pages are generated in 5 categorized sections of the website, due to a shared DB record, the keywords, the titles and every single detail of the 5 pages is same besides the resolution of the image, and the section specific details that the page has and yeah the pages also have different paths like wallpapers.com\ipad-1\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-2\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-3\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-4\cars\Ferrari-dino.html wallpapers.com\ipad-5\cars\Ferrari-dino.html now this is my scenario, How do Search Engines see it and how do they rank it? Is it a Good or Normal or Bad SEO practice? If bad how dangerous it is for my sites SEO? i need your comments on my scenario.

    I have made an Asp.net MVC website and am not well versed about SEO techniques, so I want a little guidance in setting the appropriate meta tags for the website. My website is dynamic and has two types of Pages: Category and Product There are two tables in the database for Category and Product. Looking into the future, I added these fields beforehand to both the tables : -- MetaTitle--MetaDescription--MetaKeywords On both the Category and Product pages, these values are retrieved and set as following <meta name="description" content="@ViewBag.MetaDescription" /> <meta name="title" content="@ViewBag.MetaTitle" /> <meta name="keywords" content="@ViewBag.MetaKeywords" /> For better SEO how will you set up these meta tags. Will you include the site name in all three fields ? Right now, the Product page's MetaTitle, MetaDescription and MetaKeywords don't include the website name. If possible, can you provide me sample values that should be set for better SEO performance keeping the business name in mind.

    From the Google keyword research tool, I see "chuck norris jokes" has global 246,000 searches. And again searching "jokes chuck norris" has the same search result. But as see, order of keyword in search terms has, "hello how are you" and "how are you hello" has clearly different results. Now instead of search term (assuming "chuck norris jokes"), I was wondering, if I had to register chucknorrisjokes.com and jokeschucknorris.com, would it effect the ranking on the search result? Or would it be the same? As we see here, both the domains has the same keywords, just in different order. How would that effect? I hope what I am trying to say is clear.

    This question already has an answer here: What is the best stucture of SEO friendly URL? 3 answers I am trying to understand how to best optimise a url for a page to rank high for specific keywords. Example: a top keyword search is "rental properties in new york". Question is does this keyword need to appear as this exact phrase in the url or should it be broken up into different directories for a better structure e.g.: www.abc.com/en/properties/new-york/rental OR www.abc.com/en/rental-properties-in-new-york Which will help the page rank higher (given all other things on the page are exactly the same)?   • AdWords Keyword Tool planner CPC completely different to real CPC?

    I'm new to AdWords, and trying to figure out the best keywords to use. I go to Adwords Keyword Planner, and typed in an example keyword. It gives me an average CPC of $0.94. But when I go to set up a real campaign and type it the same keyword, I get an error saying 'below first page bid estimate' which is $8.75. What gives? Is there a better way to get more accurate feedback on how much this will cost?

But url masking has been enabled and the masked url is domain2.in .. In that case i have added d url bputdoubts.21backlogs.in to google webmaster a week ago but content keyword hasn't been generated. In this case when can I expect to get the content keywords generated ?? And is there a problem for getting visitors from google search if url masking is enabled ?

  • How do search engines handle hyphenated words?

    I am not sure my title fully explains what I mean. I thought this might be an interesting question. If I had a set of keywords, broken with a dash or 2, will search engines consider the dashed split keyword as maybe a full keyword? Say I have a site that sort of breaks words down, like the dictionary sites do. So a keyword for that page, might end up in the page, and / or the URL, as broken by dashes. Key-word = keyword Co-op-er-at-ive = cooperative Pho-to-gra-phy = Photography www.example.com/key-word/ www.example.com/co-op-er-at-ive/ www.example.com/pho-to-gra-phy/ I know search engines will consider a dash (at least Google) as a space, and understand it as multiple words. But in the English language, a dash can also break a word down (at least I think it can, can't it?), so will search engines also take this into consideration? I did a 'little' research, I Googled some words and placed random dashes, and it returned the words I searched for, but this could be considered a typo from the user on Google's search end, so really I am wondering if I can purposely put a dash in a keyword, and have the search engine spiders still catch that keyword as the real word without dashes? I've done a little Googling and looking here on Stackoverflow, but everything comes down to dashes for multiple words, not really the specific thing I'm trying to figure out. Hopefully that makes sense, I am not an expert in SEO, yet, but get the basics and have been playing, and this is just really a random question to satisfy my knowledge of playing :P

    I have my business website - I am a web designer and developer, and also buy/sell websites/domain names. As such my website links to 'Our sites' = the websites which we design and run as well as a variety of tools such as a domain whois tool. These are obviously relevant to the business. As an individual, I like to travel and do white water kayaking as a hobby. I also have a degree in economics. I have thus created a blog on my business website where I write about domain names, web design, kayaking, travelling and economics. I've just begun researching SEO and am looking into optimizing my business website. I don't actually directly offer any services to clients at the moment, my main aim is to have a business website which supports my websites. If for example a potential advertise on one of my sites checks out the business website, I want them to think professional, down to earth, quirky. Given this is having my business/personal interests intertwined a problem? For SEO.. on my homepage for example when I'm writing a headline and a paragraph about what we do.. what do I put? and how do I optimize for SEO with keywords and the like? Further to the above, my company sponsors me and a group of accquantances as a kayaking team.. as such my personal interests do sort of overlap (just to add a complexity :))

    I have a website where you can search for a brands, item, and content inside my web. It was designed with tab for each search type, but I want to make the url when changing the tab user friendly and good for SEO. Is it better to have a url for search result like this www.example.com/search/{search_keyword}/{tab} or www.example.com/search/{search_keyword}?tab={tab} or www.example.com/search/?search={search_keyword}&tab={tab} where {search_keyword} is the keyword that user input, and {tab} is either brands / item / content, because when I look at facebook, stackoverflow, and some other website, they use query string for their search keyword Edit My past url is only www.example.com/search/{search_keyword}, and I just added the tab design recently. Consider that I should go with option 1 from the above option, should I make www.example.com/search/{search_keyword} the default for 1 of the 3 tab, and make the other 2 tab with www.example.com/search/{search_keyword}/{tab} to retain the score for the page, or should I make all the tab url with www.example.com/search/{search_keyword}/{tab} and use a permanent redirect from www.example.com/search/{search_keyword} to one of the url tab

    Often overlooked, and (some may say) unloved, is the params keyword, but it’s an awesome keyword, and one you should definitely check out. What does it do? Well, it lets you specify a single parameter that can have a variable number of arguments. You what? Best shown with an example, let’s say we write an add method: public int Add(int first, int second) { return first + second; } meh, it’s alright, does what it says on the tin, but it’s not exactly awe-inspiring… Oh noes! You need to add 3 things together??? public int Add(int first, int second, int third) { return first + second + third; } oh yes, you code master you! Overloading a-plenty! Now a fourth… Ok, this is starting to get a bit ridiculous, if only there was some way… public int Add(int first, int second, params int[] others) { return first + second + others.Sum(); } So now I can call this with any number of int arguments? – well, any number > 2..? Yes! int ret = Add(1, 2, 3); Is as valid as: int ret = Add(1, 2, 3, 4); Of course you probably won’t really need to ever do that method, so what could you use it for? How about adding strings together? What about a logging method? We all know ToString can be an expensive method to call, it might traverse every node on a class hierarchy, or may just be the name of the type… either way, we don’t really want to call it if we can avoid it, so how about a logging method like so: public void Log(LogLevel level, params object[] objs) { if(LoggingLevel < level) return; StringBuilder output = new StringBuilder(); foreach(var obj in objs) output.Append((obj == null) ?
