  • Ubuntu 12.04 using b43-fwcutter

    - by Nathan
I have used 10.04 with the b43-fwcutter driver to drive my BCM4318 Broadcom card (a Linksys WPC54G v3) on my old Dell Inspiron 8100 for two years+ with no troubles. I just upgraded to 12.04 and although everything worked fine after install, before I added the b43-fwcutter driver, once I installed the driver, the system refuses to boot. Even before I install the Linksys card!! It just hangs on boot with graphical garbage on the screen. I tried several attempts to recover the system using the live CD, and finally reinstalled completely. I have been thru the cycle, install fresh system, verify everything works, then install b43-fwcutter and it is hung, several times. Consistent hard fail. The system runs fine on hardwire Ethernet, and wireless was fine on 10.04. But I cannot get there with 12.04. So after several attempts, I am now ready to admit defeat and ask for help. I have read every thread that search turned up, and either the advice is to do what I did, i.e. install fwcutter, or does not apply (Different Broadcom, STA, legacy, whatever) So what do I need to do to fix it? Or is the B43-fwcutter driver broken for 12.04? Thoughts? Tips? Log files needed??

  • Corrupted network from ipad

    - by lisa
All wireless clients were kicked off the network (3 PCs & 1 iPad). Only a PC with a wired connection was still able to connect. This morning I discovered that the network had been renamed and a new password had been assigned. Via Linksys Updater I gave a new password. Strangely, in my Windows Control Panel/Network connections our old password now exists as an unsecured network, that I cannot delete! When I attempt to connect using this bastard network, I get an Apple Push error. Linksys WRT610N PCs all using Windows 7 (wired & wireless) iPad 2

  • DD-WRT Router Can't hold a connection after initial setup...

    - by AC
Struggeling with my new DDWRT router (Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH) configuration. I configured it using one machine while comparing the settings on my existing Linksys WRT54GL on another machine. To the best of my knowledge, I've set it up the same way as my Linksys, but DDWRT has so many other options. After configuring it, I plugged it into the modem, VOIP device & my network. I see the phones come back online. However after a few minutes, it seems I lose the outbound connection (phones die and I can't get out over HTTP). What's confusing me is it works for a few minutes, then it fails. No idea what to look for. Ideas?

  • Set up router to vpn into proxy server

    - by NKimber
I have a small network with a single LinkSys router connected to broadband in US via Comcast. I have a VPN proxy server account that I can use with a standard Windows connection, allowing me to have a geographic IP fingerprint in Europe, this is useful for a number of purposes. I want to setup a 2nd router that automatically connects via VPN to this proxy service, so any hardware that is connected to router 2 looks as though it is originating network requests in Europe, and any hardware connected to my main router has normal Comcast traffic (all requests are originating from USA). My 2nd router is a LinkSys WRT54G2, I'm having trouble getting this configured. Question, is what I'm trying to do even feasible? Should the WRT54G2 be able to do this with native functionality? Would flashing it with DD-WRT allow me to achieve my objectives?

  • Router Suggestions [closed]

    - by zamN
Lately I've been having router problems with my Linksys WRT54G when it comes to signal strength. Anyways I am thinking of getting a new router since the linksys is about 5 years old now. I'm just curious what router to get because I want to get the most out of my money. I already have a modem that I will connect to the router. I don't need voIP or any of that. All I simply want is just something that is going to last and will not have any stupid problems.

  • Firefox Password script same PW auto login for 1000s devices Possible to use greasemonkey

    - by ritztech
I currently work in a position that i have to manage and access 1000s of pages for troubleshooting and new setup.... and im trying to figure out a way for firefox or chrome to setup ANYtime it sees for instance a a web based page for equipment like (CISCO, Linksys, Sonicwall, T1 controllers) from the manufacture in the Title bar or from the originating page place a set up 2 - 3 passwords to auto log on with. 1st one of course being the most common so it logs in faster.. I access about 14 different web based products with passwords tied to each of them and if someway i can grab info stating that hey this company is cisco/sonicwall/linksys/hp/ log on with these set of 3-5 credintials. Using possible If then statements.... is that hard i saw some script files but not sure if its difficult because some apps use the MSG BOX built in feature and some use the form submit method built on the page unless i can have 2 different grease monkey scripts at the same time.... thanks.

  • Stream Music and Video Over the Internet with Windows Media Player 12

    - by DigitalGeekery
A new feature in Windows Media Player 12, which is included with Windows 7, is being able to stream media over the web to other Windows 7 computers.  Today we will take a look at how to set it up and what you need to begin. Note: You will need to perform this process on each computer that you want to use. What You’ll Need Two computers running Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate. The host, or home computer that you will be streaming the media from, cannot be on a public network or part of domain. Windows Live ID UPnP or Port Forwarding enabled on your home router Media files added to your Windows Media Player library Windows Live ID Sign up online for a Windows Live ID if you do not already have one. See the link below for a link to Windows Live.   Configuring the Windows 7 Computers Open Windows Media Player and go to the library section. Click on Stream and then “Allow Internet access to home media.”   The Internet Home Media Access pop up window will prompt you to link your Windows Live ID to a user account. Click “Link an online ID.” If you haven’t already installed the Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant, you will be taken to Microsoft’s website and prompted to download it. Once you have completed the Windows Live download assistant install, you will see Windows Live ID online provider appear in the “Link Online IDs” window. Click on “Link Online ID.” Next, you’ll be prompted for a Windows Live ID and password. Enter your Windows Live ID and password and click “Sign In.” A pop up window will notify you that you have successfully allowed Internet access to home media. Now, you will have to repeat the exact same configuration on the 2nd Windows 7 computer. Once you have completed the same configuration on your 2nd computer, you might also need to configure your home router for port forwarding. If your router supports UPnP, you may not need to manually forward any ports on your router. So, this would be a good time to test your connection. Go to a nearby hotspot, or perhaps a neighbor’s house, and test to see if you can stream your media. If not, you’ll need to manually forward the ports. You can always choose to forward the ports anyway, just in case. Note: We tested on a Linksys WRT54GL router, which supports UPnP, and found we still needed to manually forward the ports. Finding the ports to forward on the router Open Windows Media Player and make sure you are in Library view. Click on “Stream” on the top menu, and select “Allow Internet access to home media.”   On the “Internet Home Media Access” window, click on “Diagnose connections.” The “Internet Streaming Diagnostic Tool” will pop up. Click on “Port forwarding information” near the bottom.   On the “Port Forwarding Information” window you will find both the Internal and External Port numbers you will need to forward on your router. The Internal port number should always be 10245. The external number will be different depending on your computer. Microsoft also recommends forwarding port 443. Configuring the Router Next, you’ll need to configure Port Forwarding on your home router. We will show you the steps for a Linksys WRT54GL router, however, the steps for port forwarding will vary from router to router. On the Linksys configuration page, click on the Administration Tab along the top, click the “Applications & Gaming Tab, and then the “Port Range Forward” tab below it. Under “Application,” type in a name. It can be any name you choose. In both the “Start” and “End” boxes, type the port number. Enter the IP address of your home computer in the IP address column. Click the check box under “Enable.” Do this for both the internal and external port numbers and port 443. When finished, click the “Save Settings” button. Note: It’s highly recommended that you configure your home computer with a static IP address When you’re ready to play your media over the Internet, open up Windows Media Player and look for your host computer and username listed under “Other Libraries.” Click on it expand the list to see your media libraries. Choose a library and a file to play. Now you can enjoy your streaming media over the Internet. Conclusion We found media streaming over the Internet to work fairly well. However, we did see a loss of quality with streaming video. Also, Recorded TV .wtv and dvr-ms files did not play at all. • Can't get Wireless RT2x00usb driver to work, and can't blacklist it

    - by TheLQ
After a two year hiatus to Linux, I try it again out again. And then I run into to driver issues... I have an old Linksys WUSB54G v4 Wireless USB Adapter. In previous versions I had to use a combination of Ndiswrapper and Wicd to hope of getting it working. In 10.10, apparently there are built in drivers for it. Unfortunately they don't work. Fails to connect to my WPA network, fails to connect to my open unencrypted network. Wicd fails at "Obtaining IP address" or when using static IPs fails at verifying connectivity to network. Getting fed up I tried the ndiswrapper approach. Installed and configured, but still not working, even when blacklisting the rt2570 module. So for some debugging I added some lines to my /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file blacklist rt2570 blacklist prism54usb blacklist rt2x00lib blacklist rt2x00usb Restart and find this: lordquackstar@quackbeast:/etc/modprobe.d$ lsmod | grep rt2 rt2500usb 18049 0 rt2x00usb 9779 1 rt2500usb rt2x00lib 27275 2 rt2500usb,rt2x00usb led_class 2633 1 rt2x00lib mac80211 231541 2 rt2x00usb,rt2x00lib cfg80211 144470 2 rt2x00lib,mac80211 Seems to be ignored... Tried this: lordquackstar@quackbeast:/etc/modprobe.d$ sudo rmmod -f rt2x00usb ERROR: Removing 'rt2x00usb': Resource temporarily unavailable lordquackstar@quackbeast:/etc/modprobe.d$ sudo rmmod -f rt2x00lib ERROR: Removing 'rt2x00lib': Resource temporarily unavailable and couldn't connect. Restarted and was back to the same modules loading. Maybe there's something in the log: lordquackstar@quackbeast:/etc/modprobe.d$ tail -n100000 /var/log/syslog | grep rt2 Dec 13 19:01:15 quackbeast kernel: [ 23.698056] Registered led device: rt2500usb-phy0::radio Dec 13 19:01:15 quackbeast kernel: [ 23.698140] Registered led device: rt2500usb-phy0::quality Dec 13 19:01:15 quackbeast kernel: [ 23.701680] usbcore: registered new interface driver rt2500usb Dec 13 19:01:15 quackbeast NetworkManager[855]: <info> (wlan0): new 802.11 WiFi device (driver: 'rt2500usb' ifindex: 4) Dec 13 19:17:47 quackbeast kernel: [ 23.521759] Registered led device: rt2500usb-phy0::radio Dec 13 19:17:47 quackbeast kernel: [ 23.521824] Registered led device: rt2500usb-phy0::quality Dec 13 19:17:47 quackbeast kernel: [ 23.524740] usbcore: registered new interface driver rt2500usb Dec 13 19:17:47 quackbeast NetworkManager[798]: <info> (wlan0): new 802.11 WiFi device (driver: 'rt2500usb' ifindex: 4) Seems to be autoloading. • Intel Wireless 4965AGN not achieving N throughput when connected to an Airport Express N network

    - by BenA
I have an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adaptor in my laptop (HP Pavillion dv2000 series) which is connecting to a 5Ghz-only 802.11n network provided by an Apple Airport Express. The network is using WPA2 encryption. My desktop is also connected the Airport, via a Linksys WUSB600N USB adaptor. Both are running with the latest drivers, and the Airport is running the latest firmware. The Airport is also configured to use wide channels. The problem I have is that I never get throughput above 4MB/s when transferring files between the two machines. Even a pessimistic calculation shows a 270Mbps network as being capable of transfer rates at well above 10MB/s. I'm pretty sure I've isolated the issue to being the Intel adaptor, as wiring the desktop to the AP, and using the Linksys adaptor on the laptop immediately yielded speeds limited by the 100MB/s ethernet connection. I know that 802.11n is still a draft standard, and so mixing kit from different manufacturers can easily lead to poor results, but I was just wondering if anybody else out there has had success with this Intel adaptor on an N network? Or even better, connecting it to an Airport Express? Can anybody give me any advice on how to troubleshoot this issue? I should also mention that the Airport Express doesn't allow you to manually specify channels when running in N mode, and that I've been able to rule out interference from other Wireless LANs by scanning. There aren't any other 5GHz networks in my area. All ideas welcome! Update: A while later, I've just updated to the most recent drivers for both the Intel chip in the laptop, and the USB adaptor. Unfortunately this hasn't improved things :(. If anybody has any advice it would be be gratefully received.

  • Network Traffic Log

    - by Chris Becke
Background - On my "home" network I have a Linksys WTR45GL router providing my internet access as well as a wireless AP. Connected I have * 2 Windows PCs (wired) * At least one laptop (Wired) * Some 802.11 enabled handheld consoles (PSPs) * A Nintendo Wii * Some windows XP pcs used by the people in the granny flat. Where I live, South Africa, well, 1Gb worth of monthly cap is, while not expensive, costly enough that I'd like to be sure that all the bandwidth used by devices on my network is ... well ... legitimate and not the result of neighbors parasiting my wireless, malware or just the result of "liberal" download policies in my software. I got the Linksys WRT45GL on the understanding that there were custom firmwares (DD-WRT and Tomato) that allowed bandwidth tracking, but there doesn't seem to be any facility to get a log of traffic that can be examined to see (a) which local devices were the biggest consumers of bandwidth and (b) what they were connected to. What tools are there for logging traffic such that, when it gets to that OMG moment in the month when all my bandwidth is gone, I have a chance to find out what the hell used it all up (and hopefully attempt some corrective action).

  • Limit bandwith on network of computers

    - by Joseph34123
We have network in office of approximately 10 computers sometimes when someone downloads something for work (e.g. syncing email with an attachment or Dropbox), everyone slows down. I could limit each computer in office but the problem is that we have an open WiFi network, and I cannot access the computers that use it. We have one main DSL router "Netopia 3347" and another router connected to it on wire for public wifi is "Linksys WRT110". I cannot change the setup we have and don't want to. There's 2 approaches here: Set office computers download limit in each computer and then I need to find out how I can set a download limit for the wifi network such as in the router settings. It's a Linksys router and I did not see the option for this, so maybe I need new router for WiFi? Don't bother with each computer and put some "specific hardware" or another computer before router so all traffic goes trough it and I can then assign priority maximum speed for each IP address. Question is what hardware do I need?

  • subdomains to different VMs on one IP address

    - by efbenson
I have a setup at home with an ESXi server Freenas server and several win7 clients. I have a domain refactoringme.com I set the @ and WWW domain record to my (current) IP address. I then forwarded port 80 to my local win2k3 server on my Linksys router and used host name matching to run the 5 test sites I have. That all works. Now I want to use the turnkey machines and move to dedicated VM servers. One for a wiki one for SVN etc. So how do I get www.refactoringme.com to go to one internal IP address and wiki.refactoringme.com to different internal IP address, while they both use the same external IP address? I added the additional record for wiki to my domain and pointed it to @. I figured it had to be involving a real firewall. So I installed PFSense on a VM and set it on the DMZ on my Linksys. From this point I haven't had any luck. I thought that maybe it would be in the DNS Forwarder or maybe in the Rules sections but neither have worked. Am I doing it wrong or on the right track but am missing something. Thanks for all the help.

  • How do I get a Wireless N PCi card to connect to a wireless G router?

    - by Andy
I'm having some problems setting up a new wireless PCI card on a WinXP SP3 PC. I know that the router is configured correctly. It is a Linksys WRT54GL, using 802.11b/g. Security mode is WPA2 Personal with TKIP+AES encryption. I am able to connect to this fine using my laptop (first gen MacBook with a 802.11b built in card). The new PCI card is also Linksys, but it supports 802.11n. Card seems to be installed ok (Windows sees it fine, doesn't list any errors in Device Manager), however when it scans for available wireless networks it can't find my wireless network (the router is set to broadcast the SSID). I tried to enter the network SSID manually, but that didn't seem to help. I chose WPA2-PSK for network authentication. The only options for encryption are TKIP or AES - I've tried both, neither worked. I am sure that I typed in my wireless key correctly. At this point, I don't think the problem is with encryption, but something else. It almost seems like I need to switch the wireless card into g mode, but I haven't found a way to do that (if that is even possible/necessary - I thought n was fully backwards compatible with g). Also, the PC is in the same room as the router, and my laptop, so I don't think that it is an interference issue. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm running out of things to try at this point. :(

  • Troubleshooting wireless client-bridged networks between two DD-WRT routers?

    - by KronoS
I recently purchased a Buffalo N600 wireless router which came with DD-WRT pre-installed. I want to take my old wireless router a Linksys WRT54GL, also with DD-WRT pre-installed, and use it as a wireless bridge for my HTPC and Blu-Ray Player in the other room. I other words, I'm trying to connect to WIRED networks via the wireless on the routers. I followed eactly the instruction from DD-WRT's manual for 'Client Bridged' however I'm still not able to connect to two routers correctly, when the encryption is enabled (WPA2-Personal Mixed) however I am able to connect the two routers when there is NO encryption. I've checked, double checked, and triple checked that EVERYTHING is the same on BOTH routers: Routers 1 & 2 Encryption: WPA2-Personal Mixed Wireless Mode: G-Only Wireless Channel: 6 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Subnet: 192.168.1.0/254 SSID: Krono$ Primary Router #1 (Buffalo N600) IP Address: 192.168.1.1 Firewall: Enables w/ defaults DCHP: Enabled as DHCP Server Secondary Router #2 (Linksys WRT54GL) IP Address: 192.168.1.2 Firewall: Disabled as per DD-WRT instructions I'm looking for any configurations that I may have missed, or settings that may need to happen in order for this work.

  • Slow Local Network, Windows 7, Snow Leopard, WiFi/Wired

    - by WerkkreW
Hello - I am experiencing really poor local network performance in my home. I was recently using a Linksys WRT54G Router with DD-WRT on it, and a couple comparable Linksys-G PCI cards for connectivity but decided to upgrade hoping it would help with my performance issues. The computers in my house are connected as follows: Comcast Business Class Commercial 25mbps/10mbps (Verified with SpeakEasy and Speedtest.net) D-Link DGL-4500 Wireless N Router Windows 7x64 - D-Link DWA-552 Wireless-N Windows 7x64 - D-Link DWA-552 Wireless-N Mac Mini 10.6.2 - AirPort Extreme N Playstation 3, Hard Wired Xbox 360, Hard Wired Essentially the problem is very specific. Web browsing and uploading/downloading files from the internet is fine, more than fine. But if I want to say, Stream a video from one of my Windows 7 computers to my PS3, or copy a large video file between either of the PC's or the Mac, I get a consistent 500-900Kbps throughput at the high end. If I open my network browser, or try to browse my homegroup the response time is horrible. Both of my Windows computers are showing Strong wireless signals with a connection speed of 300Mbps. I know I can never expect to achieve anything near those speeds, but 500Kbps? Here is what I have tried so far: Enabled Single mode N-only and N/G Only on router WPA2 with AES Encrpytion Disabled "Remote Differential Compression" in Windows 7 Disabled TCP "Auto-Tuning" Used other software for file copies such as "Teracopy" I am at the end of my rope. Unfortunately I live in a 75 year old home with plaster walls, so hard-wiring my entire house isn't really an option I can handle right now. Any ideas to help me get decent speed when transferring files across my network would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can't access Port 80 from external

    - by dewacorp.alliances
Hi there I have configuration like this: NETGEAR MODEM LINKSYS ROUTER SERVERS In the modem, I've setup as bridging and all the traffic is controlling by this ROUTER. Prior to this setup, I can access website from external (port 80) plus exchange servers (mail) and https. But now with this configuration, I can only send/receive using Exhcange servers and access OWA (Outlook web access using port 443) .... and no internal websites from outside. This is my config for LINKSYS ROUTER Application | Start | End | Protocol | IP Address Ms Exchange | 25 | 25 | Both (TCP/UDP) | 192.168.100.8 Internets | 80 | 80 | Both (TCP/UDP) | 192.168.100.11 SSL | 443 | 443 | Both (TCP/UDP) | 192.168.100.8 Exchange | 110 | 110 | Both (TCP/UDP) | 192.168.100.8 192.168.100.11 is a UBUNTU web server that running the apache which controlling the virtual name (extranet, cms, test) to redirect to the different servers. As you can see, the home internet is only allowing public IP address. Now I test this schenarion in internal network work nicely. For instance. If I type in extranet.XXX.local it goes to the right applicatios or if I try CMS.XXX.local again it goes to the right one. I also asked to ISP just in case if they are blocking the inbound port 80 for unknown reason. They said no. So I didn't understand why this happens. I suspect the configuration that I have between MODEM ROUTER but I counldn't work what it is. I don't have a documentation of previous settings and I don't know if there is a port that I need to open as well. I am appreciated your comment

  • VLAN ACLs and when to go Layer 3

    - by wuckachucka
I want to: a) segment several departments into VLANs with the hopes of restricting access between them completely (Sales never needs to talk to Support's workstations or printers and vice-versa) or b) certain IP addresses and TCP/UDP ports across VLANS -- i.e. permitting the Sales VLAN to access the CRM Web Server in the Server VLAN on port 443 only. Port-wise, I'll need a 48-port switch and another 24-port switch to go with the two existing 24-port Layer 2 switches (Linksys); I'm looking at going with D-Links or HP Procurves as Cisco is out of our price range. Question #1: From what I understand (and please correct me if I'm wrong), if the Servers (VLAN10) and Sales (VLAN20) are all on the same 48-port switch (or two stacked 24-port switches), afaik, the switch "knows" what VLANs and ports each device belongs to and will switch packets between them; I can also apply ACLs to restrict access between VLANs at this point. Is this correct? Question #2: Now lets say that Support (VLAN30) is on a different switch (one of the Linksys) switches. I'm assuming I'll need to trunk (tag) switch #2's VLANs across to switch #1, so switch #1 sees switch #2's VLAN30 (and vice-versa). Once Switch #1 can "see" VLAN30, I'm assuming I can then apply ACLs as stated in Question #1. Is this correct? Question #3: Once Switch #1 can see all the VLANs, can I achieve the seemingly "Layer 3" ACL filtering of restricting access to Server VLAN on only certain TCP/UDP ports and IP addresses (say, only permitting 3389 to the Terminal Server, 192.168.10.4/32). I say "seemingly" because some of the Layer 2 switches mention the ability to restrict ports and IP addresses through the ACLs; I (perhaps mistakenly) thought that in order to have Layer 3 ACLs (packet filtering), I'd need to have at least one Layer 3 switch acting as a core router. If my assumptions are incorrect, at which point do you need a Layer 3 switch for inter-VLAN routing vs. inter-VLAN switching? Is it generally only when you need that higher-level packet filtering ability between your departments?

  • Slow Local Network, Windows 7, Snow Leopard, WiFi/Wired

    - by WerkkreW
I am experiencing really poor local network performance in my home. I was recently using a Linksys WRT54G Router with DD-WRT on it, and a couple comparable Linksys-G PCI cards for connectivity but decided to upgrade hoping it would help with my performance issues. The computers in my house are connected as follows: Comcast Business Class Commercial 25mbps/10mbps (Verified) D-Link DGL-4500 Wireless N Router Windows 7x64 - D-Link DWA-552 Wireless-N Windows 7x64 - D-Link DWA-552 Wireless-N Mac Mini 10.6.2 - AirPort Extreme N Playstation 3, Hard Wired Xbox 360, Hard Wired Essentially the problem is very specific.

  • Wireless router setup for 1-1 NAT

    - by Carlos
What I have: A linksys router WAG160N with firmware version 2 A "pool" of 5 external static IP's provided by my ISP 213.xx.xxx.n All the required configuration values for the static IPs such as (Subnet Mask, Gateway and static DNS 1, 2, 3) Current WAN Configuration: Encapsulation: RFC 2364 PPPoA Multiplexing: VC QoS type: UBR DSL modulation: MultiMode What's connected to the network: 1 x Server (That I want to make available to the outside) 5 x Desktops with static internal IP's, such as 192.168.0.xx 2 x Network printers, also with internal static IP's 2 x Laptops 1 x NAS (Network Attached Storage) also on static IP What I want to do: I would like to make the server available from outside the network, for example from your house. The problem is that Im not really sure how to do this. I have tried following the steps on the instruction manual in Linksys but they do not seem to work, once I set it up as shown bellow, I loose internet and all hell breaks loose. Going into further detail, I would prefer if the network is changed as little as possible, by this I mean that all the computers stay networked within eachother and only the server is accessible from the outside the network. What I need HELP with: I have read around that it is possible to set a 1-1 NAT (I know where it is in the menu but have no clue what it does...) so that I can NAT a single public IP directly to a single private IP (in our case the server). But please, How do I do that? Or maybe an alternative?

  • Windows 7 remote desktop encryption error every few minutes

    - by rfrankel
Because of an error in data encryption, this session will now end. This is the error I've been getting more and more frequently over the past few days, to the point that I can't ignore it because it's happening consistently within 5 minutes of connecting - sometimes within a few seconds. Both the remote and local machines are Windows 7 Pro x64. The remote machine is behind a Linksys RV082, and I'm using UPnP to forward a remote port to the correct local port. This setup had been working fine for several months, and I can't think of any recent relevant changes that might have been made. Things I've already tried: Disabling unnecessary components of the network connection on the remote machine, until only IPv4 and Client for Microsoft Networks remain. Disabling TCP large send offload on both the remote and local machines. Confirming that the remote machine is not mentioned anywhere in any DMZ settings on the Linksys router. Confirming that there are no x509-related registry keys screwing things up (this is the suggested fix for a slightly different error anyway). These are the only solutions I've been able to find after about an hour of searching, and most of them apply to XP or Server 2003 in any case. If anyone could suggest something else, it would be much appreciated.
