  • Position sprite at center of screen

    - by Wellie
    I am trying to get a sprite to position itself at the center of the screen but nothing seems to be working for me. I'm trying Viewport viewport = graphics.GraphicsDevice.Viewport; logoPosition = new Vector2((viewport.Width - towerImage.Width) / 2, (viewport.Height - towerImage.Height) / 2); and spriteBatch.Draw(towerImage, centre, null, Color.White, 0, baseOrigin, 1.0f, SpriteEffects.None, 0); This is my first time using XNA and I don't really have a clue what I'm doing.

  • Rotating Sprite around Y-Axis (2D)

    - by Bruce Collie
    I'm going to be creating a game soon, and part of it involves spinning sprites. The sprites will be spinning around the Y-Axis (imagine a spinning plate on top of a stick, where the stick stands up vertically. The main way I've thought of is to have a series of sprites for various rotation values that I blur between as the 'plate' rotates (the sprite is more complex than a plate, though). The game will be for iPhone, but I'm open to using any 2D gave development library for it.

    I'm coding Javascript(HTML5) with Box2D. And I want to ask how to attach Sprite with Box2D. This is function My sprite: function My_Sprite() { this.m_Image = new Image(); this.m_Position = new Vector2D(0,0); this.m_CurFrame = 0; this.m_ColFrame = 0; this.m_Size = new Vector2D(0,0); this.m_Scale = new Vector2D(0,0); this.m_Rotation = 0; } My_Sprite.prototype.constructor = function (_Image_SRC) { this.m_Image.src = _Image_SRC; } My_Sprite.prototype.constructor = function (_Image_SRC,_Size,_Col) { this.m_Image.src = _Image_SRC; this.m_Size = _Size; this.m_ColFrame = _Col; this.m_Scale = new Vector2D(1, 1); } My_Sprite.prototype.Draw = function (context) { context.drawImage(this.m_Image, this.m_Size.X * (this.m_CurFrame % this.m_ColFrame), this.m_Size.Y * parseInt(this.m_CurFrame / this.m_ColFrame), this.m_Size.X, this.m_Size.Y, this.m_Position.X, this.m_Position.Y, this.m_Size.X * this.m_Scale.X, this.m_Size.Y * this.m_Scale.Y ); } and this is function Object : function Circle(type, angle, size) { // Circle.prototype = new My_Object(); // Circle.prototype.constructor = Circle; // Circle.prototype.parent = My_Object.prototype; this.m_den = 1.0; this.m_fri = 0.5; this.m_res = 0.2; fixDef.density = this.m_den; fixDef.friction = this.m_fri; fixDef.restitution = this.m_res; fixDef.shape = new b2PolygonShape; bodyDef.type = type; bodyDef.angle = angle; bodyDef.userData = m_spriteCircle; fixDef.shape = new b2CircleShape( Radius / SCALE //radius ); this.m_Body = world.CreateBody(bodyDef); this.m_Body.CreateFixture(fixDef); m_spriteCircle = new My_Sprite(); this.Init(); } Circle.prototype.Init = function () { m_spriteCircle.constructor("images/circle.png", new Vector2D(80, 80), 1); m_spriteCircle.m_CurFrame = 0; } Circle.prototype.Draw = function (context) { m_spriteCircle.Draw(context); } and I draw it : var m_Circle = new Circle(); m_Circle.Draw(context);

  • ActionScript rotated sprite's startDrag bounds

    - by TheDarkIn1978
    when assigning a bounds to a draggable sprite, it doesn't seem to take rotation of the sprite into consideration. the code below adds a sprite to the display list, rotates it 45º, and adds a MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN event to allow dragging. the startDrag() method's second parameter simply returns the bounds of the stage as a rectangle. however, because of the sprite's rotation, its corners can be dragged past the bounds of the stage. any thoughts? var mySprite:Sprite = new Sprite(); mySprite.graphics.beginFill(0x0000FF, 1); mySprite.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, 200, 200); mySprite.graphics.endFill(); mySprite.rotation = 45; addChild(mySprite); mySprite.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, dragSprite, false, 0, true); function dragSprite(evt:MouseEvent):void { evt.target.startDrag(false, spriteBounds()); }

  • How to cut a "hole" inside a rectangular Sprite to see the Sprite underneath? (ActionScript 3)

    - by Zando
    Everytime I google this question I see confusing information about masks and blends, none of which seems to directly apply to what I think should be an easy thing... There are three Sprites involved here...the lowest layer sprite is pretty much a background. I want to overlay a translucent Sprite on top of the background and then I want the third, top-most Sprite to act as a hole, so that the area inside the third Sprite is completely transparent, so that the background sprite is completely visible. How would I go about doing this dynamically (i.e. dynamically drawing the masking sprite and hole using the Actionscript graphics calls)?

  • Huge excel sheet taking too long to update links or calculate formulae

    - by user7231
    I have Excel sheet with 5000 rows and columns till AY (size 12MB). Except for the first 6 columns, rest contain either vlookups or formulae. All the vlookups are in separate Excel sheet. I have changed the Excel setting to manually update the links and calculate formulae. Now everytime I try to update the links, either the Excel sheet hangs or it takes something like 15 minutes. Any ideas on how I can get it done quickly.

  • clear contents from matched column of data in another sheet

    - by Peta
    I have a column of email addresses on sheet 2 col A (but I could put them on sheet 1 if it would make it easier / faster) that I want to remove from sheet 1 col D if matched (there may be 2 or more occurences of the same email to be removed/cleared). (1000s of rows in each sheet). After all day searching forums I’m getting more confused & can't find what I'm looking for. Not sure whether to use .match or .find & .ClearContents & the syntax for iterating through. Thanks very much in anticipation Peta

  • Excel - create a list from each cell of a sheet range

    - by CharlesB
    I have a bunch of sheets in my workbook, in each one there is an email address at B6. What I want to do is to make a list with all the email addresses. I'm familiar with sheet range (all my sheets are between a sheet "first" and a sheet "last"), so I can do something like first:last!B6 to refer to the range. But what is the formula?

  • Excel - Possible to create a sorted view of a column in one sheet on another sheet?

    - by Cumbayah
    Hi; I'm trying, in Excel 2007, to populate a column in one sheet with the data contained in a column on another sheet, so that I may provide another sorting on the data, related to that sheet only. I've tried to boil it down to being able to have a column on sheet2 automatically being populated with all rows from a column in sheet1, but I can't seem to do so. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys, I am thinking to switch to CSS Sprite for my images. The main problem is I need something compatible with alt attribute. (Seo-purpouse) What Can I use? The first think I thought was to use a standard <img src="1x1.gif" class="mysprite"> The problem is I can't use that because that would like suspicous by google because of this: <img src="1x1.gif" class="mysprite" alt="my keyword1"> <img src="1x1.gif" class="mysprite" alt="my keyword2"> <img src="1x1.gif" class="mysprite" alt="my keyword3"> (the same image "1x1.gif" with different alt text) How we can solve this?

  • Rotate sprite to face 3D camera

    - by omikun
    I am trying to rotate a sprite so it is always facing a 3D camera. shaders->setUniform("camera", gCamera.matrix()); glm::mat4 scale = glm::scale(glm::mat4(), glm::vec3(5e5, 5e5, 5e5)); glm::vec3 look = gCamera.position(); glm::vec3 right = glm::cross(gCamera.up(), look); glm::vec3 up = glm::cross(look, right); glm::mat4 newTransform = glm::lookAt(glm::vec3(0), gCamera.position(), up) * scale; shaders->setUniform("model", newTransform); In the vertex shader: gl_Position = camera * model * vec4(vert, 1); The object will track the camera if I move the camera up or down, but if I rotate the camera around it, it will rotate in the other direction so I end up seeing its front twice and its back twice as I rotate around it 360. What am I doing wrong?

  • How to get quality sprite sheet generation with rotations

    - by BenMaddox
    I'm working on a game that uses sprite sheets with rotation for animations. While the effect is pretty good, the quality of the rotations is somewhat lacking. I exported a flash animation to png sequence and then used a C# app to do matrix based rotations (System.Drawing.Drawing2D.Matrix). Unfortunately, there are several places where the image gets clipped. What would you suggest for a way to get high quality rotations from either flash or the exported PNGs? A circle should fit within the same image boundaries. I don't mind a new program that I must write or an existing program I must download/buy.

  • How to use UILongPressGestureRecognizer with sprite drag & wait?

    - by ganesh
    May be it's asked before also but I couldn't find any good answer. Please tell me how this can be implemented with UILongPressGestureRecognizer? A user drags a sprite from X location to Y location. Then it waits at Y location (touch is not ended yet) for 1 or 2 secs and release the touch i.e touch is ended. In this case, shouldn't following states be triggered in below order for UILongPressGestureRecognizer: UIGestureRecognizerStateBegan UIGestureRecognizerStateChanged UIGestureRecognizerStateEnded ? My problem is if UIPanGestureRecognizer is also implemented to handle drags, UILongPressGesture is never triggered even after Long waits. Any thoughts?

  • Particle and Physics problem.

    - by Quincy
    This was originally a forum post so I hope you guys don't mind it being 2 questions in one. I am making a game and I got some basic physics implemented. I have 2 problems, 1 with particles being drawn in the wrong place and one with going through walls while jumping in corners. Skip over to about 15 sec video showing the 2 problems : http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tm9nfWsWfiM So the problem with the particles seems to be coming from the removal, as soon as I remove that piece of code it instantly works, but there shouldn't be a problem since they shouldn't even draw when their energy gets to 0 (and then they get removed) So my first question is, how are these particles getting warped all over the screen ? Relevant code : Particle class : class Particle { //Physics public Vector2 position = new Vector2(0,0); public float direction = 180; public float speed = 100; public float energy = 1; protected float startEnergy = 1; //Visual public Sprite sprite; public float rotation = 0; public float scale = 1; public byte alpha = 255; public BlendMode blendMode { get { return sprite.BlendMode; } set { sprite.BlendMode = value; } } public Particle() { } public virtual void Think(float frameTime) { if (energy - frameTime < 0) energy = 0; else energy -= frameTime; position += new Vector2((float)Math.Cos(MathHelper.DegToRad(direction)), (float)Math.Sin(MathHelper.DegToRad(direction))) * speed * frameTime; alpha = (byte)(255 * energy / startEnergy); sprite.Rotation = rotation; sprite.Position = position; sprite.Color = new Color(sprite.Color.R, sprite.Color.G, sprite.Color.B, alpha); } public virtual void Draw(float frameTime) { if (energy > 0) { World.camera.DrawSprite(sprite); } } // Basic particle implementation class BasicSprite : Particle { public BasicSprite(Sprite _sprite) { sprite = _sprite; } } Emitter : class Emitter { protected static Random rand = new Random(); protected List<Particle> particles = new List<Particle>(); public BaseEntity target = null; public Vector2 position = new Vector2(0, 0); public bool Active = true; public float timeAlive = 0; public int particleCount = 0; public int ParticlesPerSeccond { get { return (int)(1 / particleSpawnTime); } set { particleSpawnTime = 1 / (float)value; } } public float dieTime = float.MaxValue; float particleSpawnTime = 0.05f; float spawnTime = 0; public Emitter() { } public virtual void Think(float frametime) { spawnTime += frametime; if (dieTime != float.MaxValue) { timeAlive += frametime; if (timeAlive >= dieTime) Active = false; } if (Active) { if (target != null) position = target.Position; while (spawnTime > particleSpawnTime) { spawnTime -= particleSpawnTime; AddParticle(); particleCount++; } } for (int i = 0; i < particles.Count; i++) { particles[i].Think(frametime); if (particles[i].energy <= 0) { particles.Remove(particles[i]); // As soon as this is removed, it works particleCount--; } } } public virtual void AddParticle() { } public virtual void Draw(float frametime) { foreach (Particle particle in particles) { particle.Draw(frametime); } } } class BloodEmitter : Emitter { Image image; public BloodEmitter() { image = new Image(@"Content/Particles/TinyCircle.png"); image.CreateMaskFromColor(new Color(255, 0, 255, 255)); this.dieTime = 0.5f; this.ParticlesPerSeccond = 100; } public override void AddParticle() { Sprite sprite = new Sprite(image); sprite.Color = new Color((byte)(rand.NextDouble() * 255), (byte)(rand.NextDouble() * 255), (byte)(rand.NextDouble() * 255)); BasicSprite particle = new BasicSprite(sprite); particle.direction = (float)rand.NextDouble() * 360; particle.position = position; particle.blendMode = BlendMode.Alpha; particles.Add(particle); } } The seccond problem is the physics problem, for some reason I can get through the right bottom corner while jumping.   • Jumping a sprite while moving in a Bezier action

    - by marcg11
    I'm creating a game and I need the sprite to jump (move up and down basically) while it's moving on a bezier path so it moves vertically while it still follows the path. If I do this while it's moving along the bezier path: [mySprite runAction:[CCJumpBy actionWithDuration:0.1 position:ccp(0,0) height:10 jumps:1]]; It jumps vertically but instantly it returns to the position on the path. What I want is to jump relative to the path. Anyone knows something about it? It would looks something like this: the curve is a sequence of CCBezierBy's by the way. Thanks.
