  • variable being weirdly deleted

    im having a weird problem with one variable: its not being recognized but its still printing. i would post my code, but it is massive. the basic idea is: # pseudocode def function(stuff): <do stuff> # These are the only 2 conditions if tag == 3: pka = <a string> if tag == 4: pka = <a string> print pka # (1) print pka # (2) <do stuff not modifying pka> print pka # (3) if pka == 'RSA': <do stuff> elif pka == 'DSA': <do stuff> my code will error at (2). however, it will print out (1), (2), and (3), all of which are the same. is there any general explanation of why this is happening? if my code is really needed, i will post it, but otherwise, i would rather not due to its size update: now the code will error at the if statement after (3), saying UnboundLocalError: local variable 'pka' referenced before assignment even though (1),(2),(3) just printed

    I'm trying to do something like this: private class aClass { private ArrayList<String> idProd; aClass(ArrayList<String> prd) { this.idProd=new ArrayList<String>(prd); } public ArrayList<String> getIdProd() { return this.idProd; } } So if I have multiple instances of ArrayLIst<String> (st1 ,st2 ,st3) and I want to make new objects of aClass: { aClass obj1,obj2,obj3; obj1=new aClass(st1); obj2=new aClass(st2); obj3=new aClass(st3); } Will all of the aClass objects return st3 if I access the method getIdProd() for each of them(obj1..obj3)? Is an ArrayList as an instance variable automatically declared static?

    I have an R script file that executes a second R script via: source("../scripts/second_file.R") That second file has the following lines: myfiles <- list.files(".",pattern = "*.csv") ... rm(myfiles) When I run the master R file I get: > source("../scripts/second_file.R") Error in file.remove(myfiles) : object 'myfiles' not found and the program aborts. I think this has something to do with the environment. I looked at ?rm() pages but less than illuminating. I figure I have to give it a position argument, but not sure which.

  • In need of a Smarter Environmental Package Configuration

    I am trying to set up a package template in SSIS, following the Wrox Programmer to Programmer book, SQL Server 2008 Integration Services: Problem - Design - Solution. I'm really liking this book even though it is 2008 and we're using SQL Server 2005. I've got a working package template that uses an Indirect XML package configuration to identify what environment (local developer, dev, QA, production, etc) the package is being run in. That locates the SQL Server package configuration for the environment. That set-up is great and all except for the environment variable at the very front of it all. My team would prefer it if the package could use the same environment resource locator as all our other applications and tools use, so we don't two environment markers with essentially the same information in them. Normally we look up a registry key in HKey_Local_Machine but the Registry Package Configuration type only lets you look up the HKey_Current_User registries. My first thought was to write a new Package Configuration Type class that extends the Registry type; after all we'd had such luck writing our own custom log provider. SSIS is super extendable, right? So there doesn't seem to be a way to write your own Package Configuration Types. Is there still some way I can configure my SSIS SQL Server package configuration from a HKLM registry key connection string? If this is not possible, what other workarounds are available? My idea is to write a PowerShell script that will create/modify the Environment Variable that the package will use by fetching the connection string from the registry. This way there's still two markers, but at least then it's automatically maintained and automated. Is this kind of workaround necessary? Thank you for your time.

    Hello, I'm no Java guy, so I ask myself what this means: public Button(Light light) { this.light = light; } Is Button a method? I ask myself, because it takes an input parameter light. But if it was a method, why would it begin with a capital letter and has no return data type? Here comes the full example: public class Button { private Light light; public Button(Light light) { this.light = light; } public void press() { light.turnOn(); } } I know, this question is really trivial. However, I have nothing to do with Java and haven't found a description for the Button thing above. I'm just interested.

  • what \bin to add to system Path env var from a jdk

    If you install the latest java 1.6 jdk, without installing the public jre option, you end up having two \bin dirs with java.exe: %JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin %JAVA_HOME%\bin if you compare those dirs, there are a few files that are identical (java.exe etc), and a bunch that are either in one or the other. So far I used to add %JAVA_HOME%\bin to my Path environment var, but now I am wondering, does it make a difference? Is there any side effect to choose one or the other? And would not be much cleaner if the installation had only one java.exe and \bin folder?

Error: undefined method `name' for nil:NilClass. Here's my reasoning. The parameter :id is coming from my url path (i.e. we're looking for customer #3 in the above path). @customer should find that array easily, then @customer.name should produce the name, but apparently @customer is blank. Why? I assume the problem is that I'm not producing an array in my controller?

    Is there any way to create a variable, and add an ID to the end of the actual variable name? I have a variable called 'gauge', used to create a new Gauge object: var gauge = new Gauge(target).setOptions(opts); I want to add an ID to the variable, so something like: var gauge+id = new Gauge(target).setOptions(opts); It's because I'm creating a number of these objects, and have a specific ID already for each one, which I want to attach to the gauge object if possible?     Is there a way in Objective-C to store an object/class in a variable to be passed to alloc/init somewhere else? For example: UIViewController = foo foo *bar = [[foo alloc] init] I'm trying to create a system to dynamically create navigation buttons in a separate class based on the current view controller. I can pass 'self' to the method, but the variable that results does not allow me to alloc/init. I could always import the .h file directly, but ideally I would like to make reusing the code as simple as possible. Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way?

    On a Solaris box in a "mysterious production system" I'm running a perl script that references an environment variable. No big deal. The contents of that variable from the shell both pre and post execution are what I expect. However, when reported by the script, it appears as though it's running in some other sub-shell which is clobbering my vars with different values for the duration of the script. Unfortunately I really can't paste the code. I'm trying to get an atomic case, but I'm at my wit's end here. Thoughts?

    Hi there, I am looking for an alternative to using an object/variable in global scope -- I would like to associate key/value pairs with specific DOM elements (eg, a DIV), so that I can use them as input for logic that processes other elements (eg, child elements of said DIV). I tried something naive like: $('[foo=bar]').key='value' , and $('[foo=bar]')[key]='value', but it puked. Doing something like: var foobar = $('[foo=bar]'); foobar.key = 'value' -- works, but the new property/value only affects the new object (ie, foobar, not $('[foo=bar]')) Most likely there's something terribly basic I am overlooking.     I'm trying to trim a few lines from a file. I know exactly how many lines to remove (say, 2 from the top), but not how many total lines are in the file. To clear things up, I am not trying to send raw PHP code to clientside as that would be silly and won't be evaluated as it is a server side script.     I need to make a Function that receives a Session Key and a Session Value and call this function on a normal HTML onClick event. When this function is called the Session variable is assigned the Key I sent with the Value I sent. Any help? I'm using c# and asp.net but I can't use code behind and need to work everything off the page.
