  • Multiple Scripts With the Same MySQL Query Running At Once => Will There Be Interference?

    - by walden
I want to have multiple scripts running from cron at the same time. They will all update, say, 500 rows with a unique status ID for that particular script to use. If each script grabs the same type of rows to update, and the scripts run at once, will there be interference between the queries run at the same time? For example, using this query: UPDATE table SET status = <unique script ID> WHERE status = 0 LIMIT 500 Will I get the same rows updating more than once? I'm trying to get each script to get unique rows. I was thinking of using sleep() to make the queries run at different times, but I'm not sure if that's necessary. Thanks.

  • How to perform an external request in Kohana 3?

    - by alex
I've always used cURL for this sort of stuff, but this article got me thinking I could request another page easily using the Request object in Kohana 3. $url = 'http://www.example.com'; $update = Request::factory($url); $update->method = 'POST'; $update->post = array( 'key' => 'value' ); $update->execute(); echo $update->response; However I get the error Accessing static property Request::$method as non static From this I can assume it means that the method method is static, but that doesn't help me much. I also copied and pasted the example from that article and it threw the same error. Basically, I'm trying to POST to a new page on an external server, and do it the Kohana way. So, am I doing this correctly, or should I just use cURL (or file_get_contents() with context)?

  • Searching within an array of strings...

    - by SoLoGHoST
Ok, I'm feeling retarded here, I have a string like so: $string = 'function module_testing{'; or it could be like this: $string = 'function module_testing'; And than I have an array of strings like so: $string_array = array('module_testing', 'another_function', 'and_another_function'); Now, is there some sort of preg_match that I can do to test if any of the $string_array values are found within the $string string at any given position? So in this situation, there would be a match. Or is there a better way to do this? I can't use in_array since it's not an exact match, and I'd rather not do a foreach loop on it if I can help it, since it's already in a while loop. Thanks :)

  • Cakephp with underscore table ignores model

    - by xiaohouzi79
Hi, I have one table metrics and another table metric_levels. In the Metric model I have $hasMany = 'MetricLevels' but anything inside the MetricLevels model is totally ignored. But, if I rename the model to 'Metric' and have $useTable = 'metric_levels' it works fine. I've tried all combinations, but none seem to work. I've tried plurals, singulars, underscores, nothing seems to work. The model is simply ignored and it just takes the value from the database. Any help is appreciated.

  • MySQL ORDER BY rand(), name ASC

    - by Josh K
I would like to take a database of say, 1000 users and select 20 random ones (ORDER BY rand(),LIMIT 20) then order the resulting set by the names. I came up with the following query which is not working like I hoped. SELECT * FROM users WHERE 1 ORDER BY rand(), name ASC LIMIT 20

  • Who needs singletons?

    - by sexyprout
Imagine you access your MySQL database via PDO. You got some functions, and in these functions, you need to access the database. The first thing I thought of is global, like: $db = new PDO('mysql:host=127.0.0.1;dbname=toto', 'root', 'pwd'); function some_function() { global $db; $db->query('...'); } But it's considered as a bad practice. So, after a little search, I ended up with the Singleton pattern, which "applies to situations in which there needs to be a single instance of a class." According to the example of the manual, we should do this: class Database { private static $instance, $db; private function __construct(){} static function singleton() { if(!isset(self::$instance)) self::$instance = new __CLASS__; return self:$instance; } function get() { if(!isset(self::$db)) self::$db = new PDO('mysql:host=127.0.0.1;dbname=toto', 'user', 'pwd') return self::$db; } } function some_function() { $db = Database::singleton(); $db->get()->query('...'); } some_function(); But I just can't understand why you need that big class when you can do it merely with: class Database { private static $db; private function __construct(){} static function get() { if(!isset(self::$rand)) self::$db = new PDO('mysql:host=127.0.0.1;dbname=toto', 'user', 'pwd'); return self::$db; } } function some_function() { Database::get()->query('...'); } some_function(); This last one works perfectly and I don't need to worry about $db anymore. But maybe I'm forgetting something. So, who's wrong, who's right?

  • Turn database result into array

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I have just made the update/add/delete part for the "Closure table" way of organizing query hierarchical data that are shown on page 70 in this slideshare: http://www.slideshare.net/billkarwin/sql-antipatterns-strike-back My database looks like this: Table Categories: ID Name 1 Top value 2 Sub value1 Table CategoryTree: child parent 1 1 2 2 2 1 However, I have a bit of an issue getting the full tree back as an multidimensional array from a single query. Here's what I would like to get back: array ( 'topvalue' = array ( 'Subvalue', 'Subvalue2', 'Subvalue3' = array ('Subvalue 1', 'Subvalue 2', 'Subvalue 3' ) ); ); Update: Found this link, but I still have a hard time to convert it into an array: http://karwin.blogspot.com/2010/03/rendering-trees-with-closure-tables.html

  • Dreamweaver recordset filter - Display all records as default

    - by Drew
I am trying to create a simple search form to filter the results in the dynamic table. The search form is on the same pages as the results and posts to itself. I get the search string from the post variable. It is working, but I can't figure out how to set the default value to display all results. Dreamweaver automatically sets the default value to -1, and therefore no results are displayed on the initial load. How do I change this to display ALL records as default and the filter only if there is search string defined.

  • apache httpclient and spawning a browser that will share the session

    - by Nick
I'm have a java program that uses Apache httpclient api. This is used to login to and communicate to a webapp. Once logged in, there's a situation in which the program issues an execute process to open up firefox to hit the webapp and allow the user to see data in the browser. Since the java program is already logged in, is there a way to share that current session PHPSESSID so that the spawned firefox is already logged in and working in that same session?

  • htaccess redirect without user knowing

    - by Khuram
We are running multiple domains through the same code and we want to save their images in their respective folders. Here's what we are doing. /images/www.domain1.com/logo.jpg /images/www.domain2.com/logo.jpg now, what I want to know is, is this possible in htaccess that we rewrite the urls without user suspecting anything. This is what I want that <img src="/images/logo.jpg" /> should internally become through htaccess RewriteRule ^images/(.*)$ /images/{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [L,R=301] But my question is, The above redirect continually loops Can I achieve the img effect without user or admin suspecting anything? Sincerely, Khuram

  • IP Address Validation Help

    - by Zubair1
    I am using this IP Validation Function that I came across while browsing, it has been working well until today i ran into a problem. For some reason the function won't validate this IP as valid: 203.81.192.26 I'm not too great with regular expressions, so would appreciate any help on what could be wrong. If you have another function, I would appreciate if you could post that for me. The code for the function is below: public static function validateIpAddress($ip_addr) { global $errors; $preg = '#^(?:(?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)\.){3}' . '(?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)$#'; if(preg_match($preg, $ip_addr)) { //now all the intger values are separated $parts = explode(".", $ip_addr); //now we need to check each part can range from 0-255 foreach($parts as $ip_parts) { if(intval($ip_parts) > 255 || intval($ip_parts) < 0) { $errors[] = "ip address is not valid."; return false; } return true; } return true; } else { $errors[] = "please double check the ip address."; return false; } }
