  • Pattern matching in Perl ala Haskell

    - by Paul Nathan
In Haskell (F#, Ocaml, and others), I can do this: sign x | x > 0 = 1 | x == 0 = 0 | x < 0 = -1 Which calculates the sign of a given integer. This can concisely express certain logic flows; I've encountered one of these flows in Perl. Right now what I am doing is sub frobnicator { my $frob = shift; return "foo" if $frob eq "Foomaticator"; return "bar" if $frob eq "Barmaticator"; croak("Unable to frob legit value: $frob received"); } Which feels inexpressive and ugly. This code has to run on Perl 5.8.8, but of course I am interested in more modern techniques as well.

  • SharePoint 2007 and SiteMinder

    - by pborovik
Here is a question regarding some details how SiteMinder secures access to the SharePoint 2007. I've read a bunch of materials regarding this and have some picture for SharePoint 2010 FBA claims-based + SiteMinder security (can be wrong here, of course): SiteMinder is registered as a trusted identity provider for the SharePoint; It means (to my mind) that SharePoint has no need to go into all those user directories like AD, RDBMS or whatever to create a record for user being granted access to SharePoint - instead it consumes a claims-based id supplied by SiteMinder SiteMinder checks all requests to SharePoint resources and starts login sequence via SiteMinder if does not find required headers in the request (SMSESSION, etc.) SiteMinder creates a GenericIdentity with the user login name if headers are OK, so SharePoint recognizes the user as authenticated But in the case of SharePoint 2007 with FBA + SiteMinder, I cannot find an answer for questions like: Does SharePoint need to go to all those user directories like AD to know something about users (as SiteMinder is not in charge of providing user info like claims-based ids)? So, SharePoint admin should configure SharePoint FBA to talk to these sources? Let's say I'm talking to a Web Service of SharePoint protected by SiteMinder. Shall I make a Authentication.asmx-Login call to create a authentication ticket or this schema is somehow changed by the SiteMinder? If such call is needed, do I also need a SiteMinder authentication sequence? What prevents me from rewriting request headers (say, manually in Fiddler) before posting request to the SharePoint protected by SiteMinder to override its defence? Pity, but I do not have access to deployed SiteMinder + SharePoint, so need to investigate some question blindly. Thanks.

  • Unable to download .apk via webbrowser from drupal site

    - by ggrell
I have a drupal-based website where people can log in and see private discussion forums. This is where I want to have my beta testers for my Android application download the beta .apk files. I tested this thoroughly on my Android 1.6 based myTouch 3G, and was able to log in, and download files attached to forum posts without problems. Now comes the interesting part: my testers on Droids and Nexus Ones (Android 2.0.1 and 2.1) were complaining that their downloads are failing. Since I don't have an 2.0 phone, I tried it out in a 2.0 emulator, and lo-and-behold, it didn't work. The download shows the indeterminate progress for a second or two, then shows "Download unsuccessful". Based on what I see in the logs, it is apparent that the server is returning a 404 for the download request from 2.0 browsers. I can download to my desktop and 1.6 phone no problem. The only reason I can think of that the server would return a 404 for a request is that for some reason the credentials or cookies aren't being passed by the download process. Logcat shows: http error 404 for download x Some background: I added the mime type to my .htaccess like this: AddType application/vnd.android.package-archive apk I checked the server logs and see the following for failed downloads: xx.xx.xx.224 - - [28/Jan/2010:20:39:00 -0500] "GET /system/files/grandmajong-beta090.apk HTTP/1.1" 404 - "http://trickybits.com/forums/beta-testing/grandma-jong/latest-version-090-b1" "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-us; sdk Build/Donut) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1"

  • Create variable names using a loop in Java?

    - by SeerUK
Hi, first time poster, long time reader so be gentle with me :) See the following code which works to generate me timestamps for the beginning and end of every month in a financial year. int year = 2010; // Financial year runs from Sept-Aug so earlyMonths are those where year = FY-1 and lateMonths are those where year = FY int[] earlyMonths = {8, 9, 10, 11}; // Sept to Dec int earlyYear = year -1; for (int i : earlyMonths) { month = i; Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); cal.clear(); cal.set(earlyYear,month,1,0,0,0); Long start = cal.getTimeInMillis(); cal.clear(); cal.set(earlyYear,month,1); lastDayofMonth = cal.getActualMaximum(GregorianCalendar.DAY_OF_MONTH); cal.set(earlyYear,month,lastDayofMonth,23,59,59); Long end = cal.getTimeInMillis(); } int[] lateMonths = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7}; // Jan to Aug for (int i : lateMonths) { month = i; Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); cal.clear(); cal.set(year,month,1,0,0,0); Long start = cal.getTimeInMillis(); cal.clear(); cal.set(year,month,1); lastDayofMonth = cal.getActualMaximum(GregorianCalendar.DAY_OF_MONTH); cal.set(year,month,lastDayofMonth,23,59,59); Long end = cal.getTimeInMillis(); } So far so good, but in order to use these results I need these timestamps to be output to variables named by month (to be used in a prepared statement later in the code. e.g. SeptStart = sometimestamp, SeptEnd = some timestamp etc etc. I don't know if it is possible to declare new variables based on the results of each loop. Any ideas?

  • The multi-part identifier could not be bound

I have this very simple sql statement: SELECT max_dose FROM psychotropes WHERE (patient_meds.psychotrope = psychotrope_name) AND (patient_meds.patient_id = 12) when I try to run it in Visual Studio 2008, it tells me "The multi-part 'patient_meds.psychotrope' identifier could not be bound" it's weird, because I did set a relationship between the two tables in the diagram viewer

  • Mono vs .NET Interop curiosity

    - by Olaseni
I'm developing a huge console application for Unix using C# via Mono. If I develop that app using M Visual Studio and .NET 3.5 and I carefully neglect to use win32 specific API calls, should I expect that application to automatically work in my Unix box? Or should I just get MonoDevelop and go the Mono way?

  • Multiple IDE project files

    - by TomWij
We are currently working in a team where we use both Visual Studio and Code::Blocks, is there a way to replicate changes between those project files? So if one adds a file to the project file it will also get adjusted in the project file of the other IDE? Please note: We want our project to work on multiple IDE's, platforms and compilers. Thus a general solution is welcome too.

I am using Visual Studio to code the workflow, and it will be deployed in /subsite, the root site already has a task list to which everyone has connected to Outlook etc...Instead of creating a new task list in /subsite and asking concerned to subscribe to this new task list...I want to use the existing one..

  • Reading Data from DDFS ValueError: No JSON object could be decoded

    - by secumind
I'm running dozens of map reduce jobs for a number of different purposes using disco. My data has grown enormous and I thought I would try using DDFS for a change rather than standard txt files. I've followed the DISCO map/reduce example Counting Words as a map/reduce job, without to much difficulty and with the help of others, Reading JSON specific data into DISCO I've gotten past one of my latest problems. I'm trying to read data in/out of ddfs to better chunk and distribute it but am having a bit of trouble. Here's an example file: file.txt {"favorited": false, "in_reply_to_user_id": null, "contributors": null, "truncated": false, "text": "I'll call him back tomorrow I guess", "created_at": "Mon Feb 13 05:34:27 +0000 2012", "retweeted": false, "in_reply_to_status_id_str": null, "coordinates": null, "in_reply_to_user_id_str": null, "entities": {"user_mentions": [], "hashtags": [], "urls": []}, "in_reply_to_status_id": null, "id_str": "168931016843603968", "place": null, "user": {"follow_request_sent": null, "profile_use_background_image": true, "profile_background_image_url_https": "https://si0.twimg.com/profile_background_images/305726905/FASHION-3.png", "verified": false, "profile_image_url_https": "https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images/1818996723/image_normal.jpg", "profile_sidebar_fill_color": "292727", "is_translator": false, "id": 113532729, "profile_text_color": "000000", "followers_count": 78, "protected": false, "location": "With My Niggas In Paris!", "default_profile_image": false, "listed_count": 0, "utc_offset": -21600, "statuses_count": 6733, "description": "Made in CHINA., Educated && Making My Own $$. • How to migrate project from RCS to git? (SOLVED)

    - by Norman Ramsey
I have a 20-year-old project that I would like to migrate from RCS to git, without losing the history. All web pages suggest that the One True Path is through CVS. But after an hour of Googling and trying different scripts, I have yet to find anything that successfully converts my RCS project tree to CVS. I'm hoping the good people at Stackoverflow will know what actually works, as opposed to what is claimed to work and doesn't. (I searched Stackoverflow using both the native SO search and a Google search, but if there's a helpful answer in the database, I missed it.) UPDATE: The rcs-fast-export tool at http://git.oblomov.eu/rcs-fast-export was repaired on 14 April 2009, and this version seems to work for me. This tool converts straight to git with no intermediate CVS. Thanks Giuseppe and Jakub!!! Things that did not work that I still remember: The rcs-to-cvs script that ships in the contrib directory of the CVS sources The rcs-fast-export tool at http://git.oblomov.eu/rcs-fast-export in versions before 13 April 2010 The rcs2cvs script found in a document called "CVS-RCS- HOW-TO Document for Linux"

  • Very dumb question about IntelliJ IDEA

    - by Alex R
I'm a long-time Eclipse user and I just now decided to try IntelliJ IDEA 9 (free edition) for Scala. A couple of dumb questions: How can I tell if a file I've modified has been saved? How can I tell if I file I've saved has been checked into CVS? I feel incredibly "exposed" to some sort of imminent danger when I don't see the familiar visual cues from Eclipse that indicate a file has been saved and/or checked in. Thanks

  • Can I enable/disable breaking on Exceptions programatically?

    - by Tony Lambert
I want to be able to break on Exceptions when debugging... like in Visual Studio 2008's Menu Debug/Exception Dialog, except my program has many valid exceptions before I get to the bit I wish to debug. So instead of manually enabling and disabling it using the dialog every time is it possible to do it automatically with a #pragma or some other method so it only happens in a specific piece of code?

  • Question about domain name registration

    - by Obay
I received the following email from a certain [email protected] YYY is a company name ZZZ is OUR company name Dear Manager, We are a professional intellectual property rights consultant organization, mainly deal with the global domain name registration and internet intellectual property rights protection. On March. 24th, 2010, we formally received an application from YYY, they applied to register the internet brand “ZZZ” and some relevant domain names with our organization. During our preliminary investigation, we found that these domain names' keyword is fully identical with your trademark. Therefore, we need to confirm with you, whether you consigned YYY to register these domain names with us or not? Or, is YYY your business partner or distributor? If you have no relationship with this company, we assume that they have other purposes to obtain these domain names. Currently, we have already suspended this company's application temporarily due to the seriousness of this isuue. In order to avoid the vicious domain name grabbing, please let the relevant person make a confirmation with me via telephone or email as soon as possible. Thank you for your support to our work! Best Regards XXX Tel: xxxxx-xxxx xxxx Fax: xxxxx-xxxx xxxx Email: [email protected] www.world-wtc.cn This seems legit, or is it?
