  • How to add ads to the end of RSS on wordpress?

    - by zeina
I have added a function to functions.php on my theme. function insertAds($content) { $content = $content.' add goes here'; return $content;} add_filter('the_content_feed', 'insertAds'); add_filter('the_excerpt_rss', 'insertAds'); The problem is that I'm having the add displayed under each content, and not at the end of the rss page. How can I fix that?

  • Spotlight query to search for all archives and ISO files that their names do not end in bin

    - by Bytecode Ninja
The following Spotlight query, correctly returns all archive and ISO files on my system: kind:iso OR kind:archive However, Spotlight treats .bin files as archives too and returns .bin files in the results as well. How can I modify the above query and exclude files that end in bin from the result? I tried the following query but it is not working: (kind:iso OR kind:archive) AND NOT name:*bin Thanks in advance.

  • How to search a file for a pattern and get a new file from the match point to end of file?

    - by WilliamKF
I need to take a file and find the first occurrence of a literal string pattern as a complete line of the file: Acknowledgments: And then I wish to create a new file from the line of match all the way to the end of the file. I expect perl is a good way to do this, but I'm not much of a perl person, alternatively maybe sed is a good way? Please suggest a simple way to reliably accomplish this in Unix.

  • How to find other end of unix socket connection?

Tried lsof and even greps on /proc/net/unix but I can't figure out a way to find the client process.

  • Metro apps crash on startup, driver or permissions issue?

    - by Vee
After installing Win8 x64 RC, Metro apps worked correctly, but desktop OpenGL apps were slow and unresponsive. I installed the latest Win8 nVidia drivers, and the OpenGL apps started working correctly. At the same time, because of annoying permission messages, I changed the C:\ drive and all its files ownerships to my user, and gave it full permission. I restarted my pc after installing the drivers, and now Metro apps only show the splash screen, then crash. I tried installing other versions of the nVidia drivers, with the same result. My GPU is a GeForce GTX275. Is this a known problem with nVidia drivers? Or maybe changing the ownership of C:\ is the real problem? Thank you. More information (after looking in the event viewer) I've managed to find the problem and the error in the Event Viewer. I still cannot solve it. Here's the information I found by opening the Mail app and letting it crash: Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational Source: Microsoft-Windows-Immersive-Shell Date: 07/06/2012 15.54.17 Event ID: 5961 Task Category: (5961) Level: Error Keywords: User: VEE-PC\Vittorio Computer: vee-pc Description: Activation of the app microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.WindowsLive.Mail for the Windows.Launch contract failed with error: The app didn't start.. • How do I elevate privileges when running appcmd from a nant task?

    - by Rune
We are using a Windows 7 box as build server. As part of our continuous integration process I would like to stop and start an IIS 7 website. I have tried doing this from the command line using appcmd: appcmd start site "my website" However, this only works if I start the console window by choosing "Run as Administrator", so it won't work out-of-the-box from NAnt etc. How do I script appcmd to be run with elevated privileges (or am I going about this in the wrong way)? Thank you.

  • vmware server end of life, where to go now?

    - by matnagel
We have some virtual machines on vmware server 2.x running on 64 bit hardware and quite happy with it. As vmware server will no longer be offered we are thinking to migrate to ESXi, which seems is free. We will have to install the specialized network cards but that's a minor problem. But once left alone with a quite silently discontinued product there is some resistance to vmware. VirtualBox seems to work: http://blogs.oracle.com/virtualization/2010/06/migrating_from_vmware_to_virtu.html What other free (of licencing cost) options are there? We have windows server 2003 32 bit VMs and also linux 32 and 64 bit VMs to migrate. So xen does not seem an option, which does not run microsoft OSes.

  • Setup of high-end web server and DB server cluster on Amazon EC2: Is this how it's done?

    - by user1086584
Amazon is so technical, I want to confirm that my understanding is correct. We have a large 500 GB database. (OrientDB.) We will have it mirrored to one another in the same Availability Zone. We believe the database size will grow rapidly. The plan is: Get 4 large instances that are compatible types with Placement Groups (as well as ideally, Enhanced Networking) (2 for web, 2 for DB.) We use an EBS-backed instances to store our operating system. Discussion here: http://alestic.com/2012/01/ec2-ebs-boot-recommended We can set up ephemeral SSD instance storage as swap space. (But it is lost after even a reboot. I hear its hard to add ephemeral storage if booting from EBS, but possible.) For offsite backup, we will take periodic snapshots and store them on S3. Obviously we need to ensure the database is in a safe state when that snapshot happens to avoid corruption. (Any hints here, aside from shutting down the DB?) If the database gets too big, we need to create a EBS volume that's larger. We can use RAID to break the 1 TB limit: http://alestic.com/2009/06/ec2-ebs-raid Static assets on web servers will be stored on S3. Is that correct? Or am I missing something?

  • How to use psexec to start installation or other task that requires UAC interaction?

    - by Miguel Ventura
I'm trying to remotely start installations and I'd like not to disable UAC. If I start the processes remotely using psexec, the installer will just get stalled waiting for the UAC prompt. Other tasks such as temporary files cleaning, services restarting, etc, will get me Access Denied errors. Is there anyway psexec can walk around UAC such as logging in with Administrator but with the TrustedInstaller privileges or something like that? By the way, I'm targeting Windows 2008 R2, but I think this question applies to Vista, 2008 and Windows 7 as well.

  • is it really necessary to run Apache as a front-end to Glassfish/JBoss/Tomcat?

    - by Caffeine Coma
I'm primarily a Java developer, and I come to you with a question that straddles the divide between developers and sysadmins. Years ago, when it was a novel thing to run Tomcat as an app server, it was customary to front it with Apache. As I understand it, this was done because: Java was considered "slow", and it was helpful to have Apache serve static content directly. Tomcat couldn't listen to ports 80/443 unless run as root, which was dangerous. Java is no longer considered slow, and I doubt adding Apache to the mix will actually help speed things up. As for the ports issue, there are probably simpler ways to connect app servers to ports 80/443 these days. So my question is- is there really any benefit to fronting Java Webapps with Apache these days? If so, is Apache still the way to go? Should I look at Nginx? Instead of Tomcat I'm using Glassfish, if that matters.
