  • How do I convert Word files to PDF programmatically?

    I have found several open-source/freeware programs that allow you to convert .doc files to .pdf files, but they're all of the application/printer driver variety, with no SDK attached. I have found several programs that do have an SDK allowing you to convert .doc files to .pdf files, but they're all of the proprietary type, $2,000 a license or thereabouts. Does anyone know of any clean, inexpensive (preferably free) programmatic solution to my problem, using C# or VB.NET? Thanks!

    I have a wpf application that needs to extract the icon off of an executable I found here that i can do this Icon ico = Icon.ExtractAssociatedIcon(theProcess.MainModule.FileName); but when I try to set the source of a wpf Image I get "Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Drawing.Icon' to 'System.Windows.Media.ImageSource' Any suggestions ?

  • Allow users to insert a TAB into a TextBox but not newlines

    I want to have a TextBox which does accept the TAB key (and places a TAB, ASCII 0x09, \t accordingly into the textbox) instead of jumping to the next control. The TextBox has a property AcceptsTab, which I have set to true but this does not give the desired result. It turns out the AcceptsTab property only works then Multiline is set to true as well. However I want to have a one-line TextBox which doesn't accept newlines.

The library uses sockets to connect to a server but if the client using the library is behind a proxy server it can't connect. Does anyone know how I can modify the socket to be able to connect to the server through a proxy server? I really want to just do this with the sockets in the library without having to change too much code to use WebRequest or something similar

    i am creating a usercontrol which provides all of the common validations for a range of textbox styles: alpha, number, decimal, SSN, etc. so, when a developer using this control selects the alpha style, they can also select another property which defines a string of special characters that could also be allowed during validation. but when the decimal style, for instance, is selected, i'd like to simply disable the special characters property so it is not settable when a style is selected that doesn't allow special characters. how can i achieve this goal? thanks

I want to sort all the columns based on a specified column and allot a serial number as per the sorted order. In my control panel's menu, it says I have installed "Microsoft Silverlight 4 Beta SDK".

    So I'm using Bitnami to learn Ruby on Rails. I have also previously tried the manual installation for ruby and rails and was met by the same problem so I thought I should try first the easy package deal of Bitnami. Anyway my problem with json is that it causes the bundle install to fail. First the auto bundle install that rails new does fails because of an ssl error. Which is easily solved by changing the source in the gemfile which is https to http. However when I try to bundle install it does another error when it tries to install json. I know vim can export HTML with the :TOhtml, but how do I pipeline this output into an html email? Ideally. i'd like to be able to send an html diff with a single shell script command.
