  • OpenGL Shading Language portability

    - by Luca
I've noticed that my GLSL shaders are not compilable when the GLSL version is lower than 130. What are the most critical elements for having a backward compatible shader source? I don't want to have a full backward compatibility, but I'd like to understand the main guidelines for having simple shaders running on GPU with GLSL lower than 130. Thank you

  • Secure, simple php faq creating/editing scripts?

    - by Tchalvak
I'm looking to build a simple site centered around a simple faq system in php. The faq concept is simple, but I want to have an administrative-access backend for editing and creating the entries, and securing a login seems more complex and time-consuming, so I'm looking for suggestions for code to start me off. Does anyone know of any open source php scripts or snippets that would work for administrative login to some php scripts that could be used as a simple faq system? Or both, the faq php code + web administrative access code?

  • Understanding AddHandler and pass delegates and events.

    - by Achilles
I am using AddHandler to wire a function to a control's event that I dynamically create: Public Sub BuildControl(EventHandler as System.Delegate) dim objMyButton as new button AddHandler objMyButton.Click, EventHandler end Sub This code is generating a run-time exception stating: Unable to cast object of type 'MyEventHandlerDelegate' to type 'System.EventHandler' What am I not understanding about System.Delegate even though AddHandler takes as an argument of type "System.Delegate"? What Type does "EventHandler need to be to cast to a type that AddHandler can accept? Thanks for your help!

  • How to make an eclipse plugin for text comparison of two files

    - by Snehal
I plan to make a text comparison plugin for eclipse which basically provides a visual aid for changes that are required in the file and allows the user to accept or reject them. It is very much in lines of subclipse for svn or any other code comparison tools. I already found a good source to perform the text comparison but I'm looking for some pointers regarding the implementation of the UI in eclipse.

  • Apple iPhone SDK Peer Picker

    - by Just another developer
How can I modify the iphone SDK Apple sample code 'GKTank' to support multiple peers? Ideally 4. I know GKit has a peer limit of 4, which is fine. What changes would I need to make to the source file 'GKTANK', so I can learn the process and adapt it to my own current app. Thanks.

  • Avaudioplayer problem regarding songs

    - by Arun Sharma
I am using avaudioplayer for playing mp3 songs. The problem is in being able to catch the instance of the player to control it i.e. Stop it, Play it etc. The code by default creates multiple instances of the same player and overlaps the songs. I am being unable to reference the player specifically. Do you have an idea as to how we can do so? Thanks Arun Sharma

  • MS SQL and Identity column

    - by andrew007
Hi, I just noticed that if I have an identity column in a table, when I insert new rows MS SQL 2008 is automatically filling up the sequence if there are discontinuity. I mean, if in my identity column I have 1,2,5,6 if I insert other two rows in the table the system puts automatically 3,7 in the identity column. Do you know how to control this behavior? THANKS

  • Structure of NAnt build scripts and solution structure on build server

    - by llykke
We're in the process of streamlining/automating build, integration and unit testing as well as deployment. Our software is developed in Visual Studio where we have use both C# and VB.NET in our projects. A single project can be contained within multiple solutions (i.e. Utils project is used in both ProductA and ProductB solutions) For historical reasons our code repository isn't as well structured as one could have hoped for. E.g. Utils project might be located under ProductA solution (because that's were it was first used) but it was later deemed useful for productB development and merely just included into the solution of productB (but still located in a subdirectory of productA). I would like to use continous integration testing and have setup a CC.NET build server where I intend to use NAnt for creating the actual builds. Question 1: How should I structure my builds on the buildserver? Should I instruct CC.NET to retrieve all the projects for productB into a single library e.g. a file structure similar to -ProductB --Utils --BetterUtils --Data or should I opt for a filestructure similar to this -ProductA --Utils -ProductB --BetterUtils --Data and then just have the NAnt build scripts handle the references? Our references in VS doesn't match the actual location in the code repository so it's not possible today to just check-out productB solution and build it straight away (unfortunately). I hope this question makes sense? Question 2: Is it better to check out all the source code located in different projects into a single file folder (whilst retaining some kind of structure) and then build every thing at once or have multiple projects in CC.NET and then let the CC.NET server handle dependencies? Example: Should I have a seperate project in CC.NET for monitoring the automated build/test of Utils project when it's never released on it's own? Or should I just build/test it whilst building it as part of ProductB? I hope the above makes sense and that you can provide me with some arguments for using either option. We're nowhere near an ideal source code repository structure and I would prefer if I can resolve the lack of repository structure on the build server instead of having to clean up the structure of our repository. Switching away from VSS is (unfortunately) not an option. Right now our build consists of either deploying via VS clickonce or pressing F5 so just getting the build automated would be a huge step up for us. Thanks

  • Fixed point math in c#?

    - by x4000
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone here knows of any good resources for fixed point math in c#? I've seen things like this (http://2ddev.72dpiarmy.com/viewtopic.php?id=156) and this (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/79677/whats-the-best-way-to-do-fixed-point-math), and a number of discussions about whether decimal is really fixed point or actually floating point (update: responders have confirmed that it's definitely floating point), but I haven't seen a solid C# library for things like calculating cosine and sine. My needs are simple -- I need the basic operators, plus cosine, sine, arctan2, PI... I think that's about it. Maybe sqrt. I'm programming a 2D RTS game, which I have largely working, but the unit movement when using floating-point math (doubles) has very small inaccuracies over time (10-30 minutes) across multiple machines, leading to desyncs. This is presently only between a 32 bit OS and a 64 bit OS, all the 32 bit machines seem to stay in sync without issue, which is what makes me think this is a floating point issue. I was aware from this as a possible issue from the outset, and so have limited my use of non-integer position math as much as possible, but for smooth diagonal movement at varying speeds I'm calculating the angle between points in radians, then getting the x and y components of movement with sin and cos. That's the main issue. I'm also doing some calculations for line segment intersections, line-circle intersections, circle-rect intersections, etc, that also probably need to move from floating-point to fixed-point to avoid cross-machine issues. If there's something open source in Java or VB or another comparable language, I could probably convert the code for my uses. The main priority for me is accuracy, although I'd like as little speed loss over present performance as possible. This whole fixed point math thing is very new to me, and I'm surprised by how little practical information on it there is on google -- most stuff seems to be either theory or dense C++ header files. Anything you could do to point me in the right direction is much appreciated; if I can get this working, I plan to open-source the math functions I put together so that there will be a resource for other C# programmers out there. UPDATE: I could definitely make a cosine/sine lookup table work for my purposes, but I don't think that would work for arctan2, since I'd need to generate a table with about 64,000x64,000 entries (yikes). If you know any programmatic explanations of efficient ways to calculate things like arctan2, that would be awesome. My math background is all right, but the advanced formulas and traditional math notation are very difficult for me to translate into code.

  • When a popover row is selected, how is - (void)setDetailItem:(id)newDetailItem called??

    - by dalton-hamilton
I've created a TabBar application and in one of the views I'm using a popover. The view is registered for UIPopoverControllerDelegate but that doesn't do it. The popover is a completely different view controller and xib. When the user selects a row in the popover, control goes to the popovercontroller.m method - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath Any help would be appreciated. Best Regard Dalton Hamilton

    - by Smejda
I created very simple Context Menu using Shell Extension in C#. It works fine under Windows XP 32 bit but under Windows 7 64 bits menu items not appearing. I tried to build Setup output to x64 but no effect. Simple Source contains ContextMenu and Setup project is under http://bit.ly/9nGd41 Looks like Wow6432 should be handled by Setup project, same for registration and adding to Global Assembly Cache I would be appreciate for help / suggestions with this issue.

  • How to generate function call graphs for JavaScript?

    - by Jeremy Rudd
Are there softwares that can generate graphs that show which functions call which functions? I need to analyze JavaScript source code, a language which Doxygen/Graphviz does not support, though it does support C++ and others. If there are no tools that support JavaScript out-of-the-box, is there a way to convert JS to C++ so I can use Doxygen itself?

  • Read excel 2007 file with OLEDB using a specific culture

    - by Derek Ekins
I am trying to read an excel 2007 file (using OLEDB) that has dates in the UK format. The server is (sometimes) set to US format and so the normal date format problems are in play. This is my connection string: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=myfile.xlsx;Extended Properties="Excel 12.0 Xml;HDR=NO;IMEX=1" I want to ensure that the file is always opened using the en-GB culture. Is there a way to specify the culture using the connection string?

  • Problem retrieving HTML5 video duration

    - by drebabels
UPDATE: Ok so although I haven't solved this problem exactly, but I did figure out a work around that handles my biggest concern... the user experience. First the video doesn't begin loading until after the viewer hits the play button, so I am assuming that the duration information wasn't available to be pulled (I don't know how to fix this particular issue... although I assume that it would involve just loading the video metadata separately from the video, but I don't even know if that is possible). So to get around the fact that there is no duration data, I decided to hide the duration info (and actually the entire control) completely until you hit play. I know... its cheating. But for now it makes me happy :) That said... if anyone knows how to load the video metadata separately from the video file... please share. I think that should completely solve this problem. I am working on building a HTML5 video player with a custom interface, but I am having some problems getting the video duration information to display. My HTML is real simple (see below) <video id="video" poster="image.jpg" controls> <source src="video_path.mp4" type="video/mp4" /> <source src="video_path.ogv" type="video/ogg" /> </video> <ul class="controls"> <li class="time"><p><span id="timer">0</span> of <span id="duration">0</span></p></li> </ul> And the javascript I am using to get and insert the duration is var duration = $('#duration').get(0); var vid_duration = Math.round(video.duration); duration.firstChild.nodeValue = vid_duration; The problem is nothing happens. I know the video file has the duration data because if I just use the default controls, it displays fine. But the real strange thing is if I put alert(duration) in my code like so alert(duration); var vid_duration = Math.round(video.duration); duration.firstChild.nodeValue = vid_duration; then is works fine (minus the annoying alert that pops up). Any ideas what is happening here or how I can fix it?

  • Bind listbox in WPF with grouping

    - by Michael Stoll
Hi, I've got a collection of ViewModels and want to bind a ListBox to them. Doing some investigation I found this. So my ViewModel look like this (Pseudo Code) interface IItemViewModel { string DisplayName { get; } } class AViewModel : IItemViewModel { string DisplayName { return "foo"; } } class BViewModel : IItemViewModel { string DisplayName { return "foo"; } } class ParentViewModel { IEnumerable<IItemViewModel> Items { get { return new IItemViewModel[] { new AItemViewModel(), new BItemViewModel() } } } } class GroupViewModel { static readonly GroupViewModel GroupA = new GroupViewModel(0); static readonly GroupViewModel GroupB = new GroupViewModel(1); int GroupIndex; GroupViewModel(int groupIndex) { this.GroupIndex = groupIndex; } string DisplayName { get { return "This is group " + GroupIndex.ToString(); } } } class ItemGroupTypeConverter : IValueConverter { object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { if (value is AItemViewModel) return GroupViewModel.GroupA; else return GroupViewModel.GroupB; } } And this XAML <UserControl.Resources> <vm:ItemsGroupTypeConverter x:Key="ItemsGroupTypeConverter "/> <CollectionViewSource x:Key="GroupedItems" Source="{Binding Items}"> <CollectionViewSource.GroupDescriptions> <PropertyGroupDescription Converter="{StaticResource ItemsGroupTypeConverter }"/> </CollectionViewSource.GroupDescriptions> </CollectionViewSource> </UserControl.Resources> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource GroupedItems}}"> <ListBox.GroupStyle> <GroupStyle> <GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding DisplayName}" FontWeight="bold" /> </DataTemplate> </GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> </GroupStyle> </ListBox.GroupStyle> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding DisplayName}" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> This works somehow, exept of the fact that the binding of the HeaderTemplate does not work. Anyhow I'd prefer omitting the TypeConverter and the CollectionViewSource. Isn't there a way to use a property of the ViewModel for Grouping? I know that in this sample scenario it would be easy to replace the GroupViewModel with a string an have it working, but that's not an option. So how can I bind the HeaderTemplate to the GroupViewModel?

  • in flashbuilder (flex 4) select enclosing element

    - by core07
Seems Adobe ignores strong movement now towards the productive programming. E.g. flash builder ide lacks keyboard shortcuts that are very useful in eclipse. If code templates, extract method, extract local variables are covered by some not-free plugins (and not cheap) like source mate, expanding selection to enclosing element I cannot find how to enable. Maybe you guys know some plugins doing that? Usually in eclipse it is Alt Shift Up to select enclosing block.

  • .Net Windows Services and InstallState file - is it really needed?

    - by BrettRobi
I've got a number of managed code Windows Services for which we use the Frameworks InstallUtil tool to install into the service control manager. This tool creates a new file at install time with an extension of .InstallState. I have experimented with deleting this file and an uninstall still works fine afterwards. So my questions is, what is this file for and is there any reason I shouldn't delete it?
