  • Extracting shell script from parameterised Hudson job

    - by Jonik
I have a parameterised Hudson job, used for some AWS deployment stuff, which in one build step runs certain shell commands. However, that script has become sufficiently complicated that I want to "extract" it from Hudson to a separate script file, so that it can easily be versioned properly. The Hudson job would then simply update from VCS and execute the external script file. My main question is about passing parameters to the script. I have a Hudson parameter named AMI_ID and a few others. The script references those params as if they were environment variables: echo "Using AMI $AMI_ID and type $TYPE" Now, this works fine inside Hudson, but not if Hudson calls an external script. Could I somehow make Hudson set the params as environment variables so that I don't need to change the script? Or is my best option to alter the script to take command line parameters (and possibly assign those to named variables for readability: ami_id=$1; type=$2; ... )? I tried something like this but the script doesn't get correctly replaced values: export AMI_ID=$AMI_ID export TYPE=$TYPE external-script.sh # this tries to use e.g. $AMI_ID Bonus question: when the script is inside Hudson, the "console output" will contain both the executed commands and their output. This is extremely useful for debugging when something goes wrong with a build! For example, here the line starting with "+" is part of the script and the following line its output: + ec2-associate-address -K pk.pem -C cert.pem 77.125.116.139 -i i-aa3487fd ADDRESS 77.125.116.139 i-aa3487fd When calling an external script, Hudson output will only contain the latter line, making debugging harder. I could cat the script file to stdout before running it, but that's not optimal either. In effect, I'd like a kind of DOS-style "echo on" for the script which I'm calling from Hudson - anyone know a trick to achieve this?

  • Shell script task status monitoring

    - by Bikram Agarwal
I'm running an ANT task in background and checking in 60 second intervals whether that task is complete or not. If it is not, every 60 seconds, a message should be displayed on screen - "Deploy process is still running. $slept seconds since deploy started", where $slept is 60, 120, 180 n so on. There's a limit of 1200 seconds, after which the script will show the log via 'ant log' command and ask the user whether to continue. If the user chooses to continue, 300 seconds are added to the time limit and the process repeats. The code that I am using for this task is - ant deploy & limit=1200 deploy_check() { while [ ${slept:-0} -le $limit ]; do sleep 60 && slept=`expr ${slept:-0} + 60` if [ $$ = "`ps -o ppid= -p $!`" ]; then echo "Deploy process is still running. $slept seconds since deploy started." else wait $! && echo "Application ${New_App_Name} deployed successfully" || echo "Deployment of ${New_App_Name} failed" break fi done } deploy_check if [ $$ = "`ps -o ppid= -p $!`" ]; then echo "Deploy process did not finish in $slept seconds. Here's the log." ant log echo "Do you want to kill the process? Press Ctrl+C to kill. Press Enter to continue." read log limit=`expr ${limit} + 300` deploy_check fi Now, the problem is - this code is not working. This looks like a perfectly good code and yet, this is not working. Can anyone point out what is wrong with this code, please.

  • Python Twisted Client Connection Lost

    - by MovieYoda
I have this twisted client, which connects with a twisted server having an index. I ran this client from command-line. It worked fine. Now I modified it to run in loop (see main()) so that I can keep querying. But the client runs only once. Next time it simply says connection lost \n Connection lost - goodbye!. • why it is not possible to modify file in a directory, where i have read/write group rights

    - by sighter
I am currently messing around on my linux system and now i have the following situation. The directory /srv/http has the following permissions set: drwxrwxr-x 2 root httpdev 80 Jun 13 11:48 ./ drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 152 Mar 26 13:56 ../ -rwxrwxr-x 1 root httpdev 8 Jun 13 11:48 index.html* I have created the group httpdev before with the command: groupadd httpdev and added my user sighter with: gpasswd -a sighter httpdev Then i have set the permissions as above using the chown and chmod commands. But now i am not allowed to modify the index.html file or create a new file, as user sighter ,with touch like that: <sighter [bassment] ~http> touch hallo.php touch: cannot touch `hallo.php': Permission denied What do I understand wrong. I was expecting that i can do what i want there then the group has all the rights. The following Output is for your in formation. <sighter [bassment] ~http> cat /etc/group | grep sighter ... httpdev:x:1000:sighter ... The used linux-distro is archlinux. • Update parameter not working on bound DropDownList

    - by ProfK
    I have a DropDownList declared like this: <asp:DropDownList ID="campaignTypeList" runat="server" Width="150px" DataTextField="Name" DataValueField="CampaignTypeId" DataSourceID="campaignTypesDataSource" SelectedValue='<%# Bind("CampaignTypeID") %>'> </asp:DropDownList> Using the designer, my SqlDataSource is configured as follows1: <asp:SqlDataSource ID="campaignDataSource" runat="server" ConflictDetection="CompareAllValues" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ProVantageMediaManagement %>" SelectCommand="ActivationCampaignGetById" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure" UpdateCommand="ActivationCampaignUpdate" UpdateCommandType="StoredProcedure"> <SelectParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter DefaultValue="98" Name="campaignId" Direction="Input" QueryStringField="id" Type="Int32" /> </SelectParameters> <UpdateParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter DefaultValue="98" Name="campaignId" Direction="Input" QueryStringField="id" Type="Int32" /> <asp:Parameter Name="campaignName" Type="String" /> <asp:Parameter Name="campaignTypeId" Type="Int32" /> </UpdateParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource> Yet when the update command is sent to the DB, the campaignTypeId value is always 1, no matter which item is selected in the DropDownList. What am I doing wrong? 1 Bonus points for telling us what a ControlParameter is meant for, if not for handling values of controls in a scenario like this.

  • How to search cvs comment history

    - by Chris Noe
I am aware of this command: cvs log -N -w<userid> -d"1 day ago" Unfortunately this generates a formatted report with lots of newlines in it, such that the file-path, the file-version, and the comment-text are all on separate lines. Therefore it is difficult to scan it for all occurrences of comment text, (eg, grep), and correlate the matches to file/version. (Note that the log output would be perfectly acceptable, if only cvs could perform the filtering natively.) EDIT: Sample output. A block of text like this is reported for each repository file: RCS file: /data/cvs/dps/build.xml,v Working file: build.xml head: 1.49 branch: locks: strict access list: keyword substitution: kv total revisions: 57; selected revisions: 1 description: ---------------------------- revision 1.48 date: 2008/07/09 17:17:32; author: noec; state: Exp; lines: +2 -2 Fixed src.jar references ---------------------------- revision 1.47 date: 2008/07/03 13:13:14; author: noec; state: Exp; lines: +1 -1 Fixed common-src.jar reference. =============================================================================

  • How can I provide users with the functionality of the DBUnit DatabaseOperation methods from a web in

    - by reckoner
I am currently updating a java-based web application which allows database developers to create stored procedure regression test suites for database testing. Currently, for test setup, execution and clean-up stages, the user is provided with text boxes where they are able to enter SQL code which is executed by the isql command. I would like to extend the application to use DB Unit’s DatabaseOperation methods to provide more ways to setup the state of the database than just SQL statements. The main reason for using Db Unit rather than just SQL statements is to be able to create and store xml and xls DataSets on a server where they can be associated with their test cases and used for data setup. My question is: How can I provide users with the functionality of the DBUnit DatabaseOperation methods from a web interface? I have considered: Creating a simple programming language and a parser to read some simple syntax involving the DB Unit method names which accept a parameter being the file location to an xml or xls DataSet. I was thinking of allowing the user to register the files they need with the web app which would catalogue them and provide each file with an identifier which could passed as a parameter to the methods in this simple programming language. Creating an XML DTD which provides the user with the ability to specify operations and parameters. If I went this approach, how can I execute the methods and their parameters that I parse from the XML document? Creating a table in the database which stores the method and a FK relation to a catalogued DataSet file, however I don’t think this would be good solution due to the fact that data entry would be tedious. Thanks for your help.

  • MySql too many connections

    - by MichaelMcCabe
I hate to bring up a question which is widely asked on the web, but I cant seem to solve it. I started a project a while back and after a month of testing, I hit a "Too many connections" error. I looked into it, and "Solved" it by increasing the max_connections. This then worked. Since then more and more people started to use it, and it hit again. When I am the only user on the site, i type "show processlist" and it comes up with about 50 connections which are still open (saying "Sleep" in the command). Now, I dont know enough to speculate why these are open, but in my code I tripple checked and every connection I open, I close. ie. public int getSiteIdFromName(String name, String company)throws DataAccessException,java.sql.SQLException{ Connection conn = this.getSession().connection(); Statement smt = conn.createStatement(); ResultSet rs=null; String query="SELECT id FROM site WHERE name='"+name+"' and company_id='"+company+"'"; rs=smt.executeQuery(query); rs.next(); int id=rs.getInt("id"); rs.close(); smt.close(); conn.close(); return id; } Every time I do something else on the site, another load of connections are opened and not closed. Is there something wrong with my code? and if not, what could be the problem?

  • Is there such a thing as IMAP for podcasts?

    - by Gerrit
Is there such a thing as IMAP for podcasts? I own a desktop, laptop, iPod, smartphone and a web-client all downloading StackOverflow Podcasts. (among others) They all tell me which episodes are available and which are already played. Everything is a horrible mess, ofcourse. My iPod is somewhat in sync with my desktop, but everything else is a random jungle. The same problem with e-mail is solved by IMAP. Every device gets content and meta-information from one server, and stays in sync with it. Per device, I can set preferences (do or do not download the complete archive including junkmail). Can we implement the IMAP approach for podcasts? Or is there a better metaphore/standard to solve this problem? How will the adoption-strategy look like? (by the way: except for the Windows smartphone, I own a full Apple-stack of products. Even then, I run into this problem) UPDATE The RSS-to-Imap link to sourceforge looks promesting, but very alpha/experimental. UPDATE 2 The one thing RSS is missing is the command/method/parameter/attribute to delete/unread items. RSS can only add, not remove. If RSS(N+1) (3?) could add a value for unread="true|false", it would be solved. If I cache all my RSS-feeds on my own server, and add the attribute myself, I only would have to convince iTunes and every other client to respect that.

  • Compile IL code at runtime using .NET 3.5 and C# from file

    - by nitefrog
I would like to take a file that is an IL file, and at run time compile it back to an exe. Right now I can use process.start to fire off the command line with parameters (ilasm.exe) but I would like to automate this process from a C# service I will create. Is there a way to do this with reflection and reflection.emit? While this works: string rawText = File.ReadAllText(string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName")), Encoding.ASCII); rawText = rawText.Replace("[--STRIP--]", guid); File.Delete(string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName"))); File.WriteAllText(string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName")),rawText, Encoding.ASCII); pi = new ProcessStartInfo(); pi.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden; pi.FileName = "\"" + ilasm + "\""; pi.Arguments = string.Format("c:\\temp\\{0}.il", Utility.GetAppSetting("baseName")); using(Process p = Process.Start(pi)) { p.WaitForExit(); } It is not ideal as I really would like this to be a streamlined process. I have seen examples of creating the IL at runtime, then saving, but I need to use the IL I already have in file form and compile it back to an exe. Thanks.

  • Detecting branch reintegration or merge in pre-commit script

    - by Shawn Chin
Within a pre-commit script, is it possible (and if so, how) to identify commits stemming from an svn merge? svnlook changed ... shows files that have changed, but does not differentiate between merges and manual edits. Ideally, I would also like to differentiate between a standard merge and a merge --reintegrate. Background: I'm exploring the possibility of using pre-commit hooks to enforce SVN usage policies for our project. One of the policies state that some directories (such as /trunk) should not be modified directly, and changed only through the reintegration of feature branches. The pre-commit script would therefore reject all changes made to these directories apart from branch reintegrations. Any ideas? Update: I've explored the svnlook command, and the closest I've got is to detect and parse changes to the svn:mergeinfo property of the directory. This approach has some drawback: svnlook can flag up a change in properties, but not which property was changed. (a diff with the proplist of the previous revision is required) By inspecting changes in svn:mergeinfo, it is possible to detect that svn merge was run. However, there is no way to determine if the commits are purely a result of the merge. Changes manually made after the merge will go undetected. • JSF Templating without RAD

    - by Jeffrey Knight
    I have a set of jsp's based off a jtpl template. The template (jtpl file) looks like this: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <%-- tpl:metadata --%> <%-- jsf:codeBehind language="java" location="/JavaSource/pagecode/my.java" --%> <%-- /jsf:codeBehind --%> <%-- /tpl:metadata --%> <%@taglib uri="http://www.ibm.com/jsf/html_extended" prefix="hx"%> <%@taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%> <HTML> <%@taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%> <%@page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1"%> <f:view> <HEAD> ... Without using RAD, how can I change the jtpl (template) and regenerate jsp? I'm looking for a command line solution. Related question: is the jsp intended to be rendered from the template design-time in the IDE, or runtime on the server?

  • How do I use IIS6 style metabase paths in IIS7 AppCmd tool?

    - by Mike Atlas
I'm currently in the process of upgrading old II6 automation scripts that use the IISVdir tool to create/modify/update apps and virtual directories, and replacing them with AppCmd for IIS7. The IIS6, "IISVDir" commands reference paths in that are from the metabase, eg, "/W3SVC/1/ROOT/MyApp" - where 1 is ID of the "Default Web Site" site. The command doesn't actually require the display name of the site to make changes to it. This works well, since on a different language OS, the "Default Web Site" site name could be named, for example, "??? Web ???" or anything else for that matter. But this flexibility is lost if AppCmd can only reference "Default Web Site" via its name, and not a language-neutral identifier. So, how can I script AppCmd to refer to sites, vdirs and apps using language neutral identifiers to reference the "Default App Site"? Perhaps I need to start creating my own site instead, from the start, and name it something else specific, and stop using "Default Web Site" as the root? (Disclosure: I only have a IIS7-English machine that I am working on currently, but I have both IIS6-English and IIS6-Japanese machines for testing my old scripts - so perhaps it really is just "Default Web Site" still on Win2k8-Japanese?)

  • Ajaxcontrol toolkit ConfirmButtonExtender with radiobuttonlist control

    - by chugh97
I have a Yes/No Radiobutton List, When the asp.net page is loaded, if there are items in the gridview this radio is defaulted to Yes. Now if the user clicks no, I have to delete all the items for the gridview and persist them in db. But I want to show a confimation whether the user wants to go ahead doing this operation. If user clciks Yes then go ahead and delete the rows in gridview if no then keep the original radio setting to Yes. I have been struggling to get this to work as the ConfirmButtonExtender which opens up a modalpopup extender even before I know what has been clicked on the radio. If the radio is preselected with Yes, then if I clcik no, the Modal extender is shown and in the Page PreRender event handler the value of the radio is still Yes and not No as extender is run on click using ajax and it doesnt know the correct value of the radio.Even if I use onClick client side javascript to find out which option has been chosen the difficulty is then executing the server side delete command to the db. Has anyone enconuntered this problem before? Any solutions would be appreciated.

  • How do I ensure only the headers are shown for the first item in an ItemsControl in WPF?

    - by Dan Ryan
    I am using MVVM binding an ObservableCollection of children to an ItemsControl. The ItemsControl contains a UserControl used to style the UI for the children. <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Documents}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <View:DocumentView Margin="0, 10, 0, 0" /> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> I want to show a header row for the contents of the ItemsControl but only want to show this once at the top (not for every child). How can I implement this behaviour in the DocumentView user control? Fyi I am using a Grid layout to style the child rows: <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="34"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="100"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="*" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="60" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBlock Grid.ColumnSpan="4" Grid.Row="0" Text="Should only show this at the top"></TextBlock> <Image Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="1" Height="24" Width="24" Source="/Beazley.Documents.Presentation;component/Icons/error.png"></Image> <ComboBox Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" Name="ContentTypes" ItemsSource="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type View:MainView}}, Path=DataContext.ContentTypes}" SelectedValue="{Binding ContentType}"/> <TextBox Grid.Column="2" Grid.Row="1" Text="{Binding Path=FileName}"/> <Button Grid.Column="3" Grid.Row="1" Command="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type View:MainView}}, Path=DataContext.RemoveFile}" CommandParameter="{Binding}">Remove</Button> </Grid>

  • What features do you miss most when switching from IntelliJ to XCode ?

    - by Ori
Hi, I've started to use XCode several months ago, after using IntelliJ for several years, and there are quite a few features that I really miss. XCode is not that bad, but it is lacking some basic stuff. To trigger the discussion, here are some of the features that I miss most, who knows maybe someone from Apple will bump into this post and steal some Ideas :) Source-level error-highlighting. The write-compile-fix cycle feels like going back in time 15 years ago to my early C days. Many errors can be spotted without having to compile and Java IDEs have been doing it for years. A decent debugger. This is a bit unfair because IntelliJ's debugger is the best I've used so far, but XCode's debugger is at least 5 years behind and Apple has a few more developers than JetBrains... Stronger re-factoring. A no-brainer I guess. XCode has some renaming capabilities (which they call re-factoring), but they are very few. Override method. This one is really amazing. XCode doesn't have an "override method" command which lets you choose the method you want to override from a super class or protocol. You need to go to the documentation or header file and start copy-pasting. Duplicate selected line(s). I've bumped into some posts that offer workarounds for this via custom key-binding, but none of them works, at least for me. Go to last edit point. Bummer! Come on Apple, this one is so easy to implement and so useful! A better open quickly feature. IntelliJ's quick find of classes/files/text is so much better... Turns out that my list goes on and on, so I'll stop here... What other features do you miss most in your transition to XCode?? Ori

  • Is Git ready to be recommended to my boss?

    - by Mike Weller
I want to recomment Git to my boss as a new source control system, since we're stuck in the 90s with VSS (ouch), but are the tools and 3rd party support good enough yet? Specifically I'm talking about GUI front-ends similar to TortoiseSVN, decent visual diff/merge support, as well as stuff like email commit notifications and general support from 3rd parties like IDEs and build systems. Even though this will be used by programmers, we really need this kind of stuff in our team. I don't want to leave everyone stuck with a new tool, and even a new source control paradigm (distributed), with nothing but a command-line app and some online tutorials. This would be a step backwards. So what do you think... is Git ready? What decent tools exist for Git and what third party development apps support it? EDIT: My original question was pretty vague so I'm updating it to specifically ask for a list of available tools and 3rd party support for Git. Maybe we can get a community wiki post with a list of stuff. I also do not consider 'use subversion' to be an adequate answer. There are other reasons to use a distributed source control system other than offline editing - private and cheap branches being one of them.

  • Get Function Pointer to function in a shared library I didn't directly load

    - by bdk
My Linux application (A) links against a Third Party shared Library (B) which I don't have source code to. This library makes use of another third party shared library that I don't have source code to (C). I believe that (B) uses dlopen to access (C) instead of directly linking. My reasoning for this is that 'ldd' on (B) does not show (C) and objdump -X (B) shows references to dlopen/dlclose/dlsym. My requirement is that I need to in my code for (A) get a function pointer to a function foo() located in (C). Normally I'd use dlsym for this, but I need to pass it the handle returned from dlopen which I don't have since (B) does not expose this. - For the larger context: I need to modify the function in (C) such that everytime it calls its helper function bar() (also located in (C)), it also calls a function with the same signature located in (A) with the same parameters (Basically inject my code into the codepath of (C) foo()-bar(). I believe I've found a way to accomplish this using gdb, but in order to port my gdb command list, but I'm stuck on the step of getting the function pointer. I'm also open to alternatives to accomplish the same task rather than the exact problem as stated above Edit: After writing this I realized I can probably just do another dlopen on the file in my code and the symbols returned via dlsym on that handle should be the same as received via the original dlopen, If I'm reading the dlopen man page correctly. However I'm still interested in advice or assistance with the my larger context, If theres a better way to go about this

  • Fabric "TypeError: not all arguments converted during string formatting"

    - by Brian Carpio
I have the following fabric task: @task def deploy_west_ec2_ami(name, puppetClass, size='m1.small', region='us-west-1', basedn='joe', ldap='arch-ldap-01', secret='secret', subnet='subnet-d43b8ab d', sgroup='sg-926578fe'): execute(deploy_ec2_ami, name='%s',puppetClass='%s',size='%s',region='%s',basedn='%s',ldap='%s',secret='%s',subnet='%s',sgroup='%s' %(name, puppetClass , size, region, basedn, ldap, secret, subnet, sgroup)) However when I run the command: fab deploy_west_ec2_ami:test,java I get the following Traceback: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/fabric/main.py", line 710, in main *args, **kwargs File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/fabric/tasks.py", line 321, in execute results['<local-only>'] = task.run(*args, **new_kwargs) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/fabric/tasks.py", line 113, in run return self.wrapped(*args, **kwargs) File "/home/bcarpio/Projects/githubenterprise/awsdeploy/fabfile.py", line 35, in deploy_west_ec2_ami execute(deploy_ec2_ami, name='%s',puppetClass='%s',size='%s',region='%s',basedn='%s',ldap='%s',secret='%s',subnet='%s',sgroup='%s' %(name, puppetClass, size, region, basedn, ldap, secret, subnet, sgroup)) TypeError: not all arguments converted during string formatting I am not sure I understand why. I am pretty sure I have all the values defined here just fine. Also when I run the execute task deploy_ec2_ami as so: deploy_ec2_ami:test,java,m1.small,us-west-1,'dc\=test\,dc\=net',ldap-01,secret,subnet-d43b8abd,sg-926578fe It works just fine

  • About redirected stdout in System.Diagnostics.Process

    - by sforester
I've been recently working on a program that convert flac files to mp3 in C# using flac.exe and lame.exe, here are the code that do the job: ProcessStartInfo piFlac = new ProcessStartInfo( "flac.exe" ); piFlac.CreateNoWindow = true; piFlac.UseShellExecute = false; piFlac.RedirectStandardOutput = true; piFlac.Arguments = string.Format( flacParam, SourceFile ); ProcessStartInfo piLame = new ProcessStartInfo( "lame.exe" ); piLame.CreateNoWindow = true; piLame.UseShellExecute = false; piLame.RedirectStandardInput = true; piLame.RedirectStandardOutput = true; piLame.Arguments = string.Format( lameParam, QualitySetting, ExtractTag( SourceFile ) ); Process flacp = null, lamep = null; byte[] buffer = BufferPool.RequestBuffer(); flacp = Process.Start( piFlac ); lamep = new Process(); lamep.StartInfo = piLame; lamep.OutputDataReceived += new DataReceivedEventHandler( this.ReadStdout ); lamep.Start(); lamep.BeginOutputReadLine(); int count = flacp.StandardOutput.BaseStream.Read( buffer, 0, buffer.Length ); while ( count != 0 ) { lamep.StandardInput.BaseStream.Write( buffer, 0, count ); count = flacp.StandardOutput.BaseStream.Read( buffer, 0, buffer.Length ); } Here I set the command line parameters to tell lame.exe to write its output to stdout, and make use of the Process.OutPutDataRecerved event to gather the output data, which is mostly binary data, but the DataReceivedEventArgs.Data is of type "string" and I have to convert it to byte[] before put it to cache, I think this is ugly and I tried this approach but the result is incorrect. Is there any way that I can read the raw redirected stdout stream, either synchronously or asynchronously, bypassing the OutputDataReceived event? PS: the reason why I don't use lame to write to disk directly is that I'm trying to convert several files in parallel, and direct writing to disk will cause severe fragmentation. Thanks a lot!

  • why DataColumn AllowDbNull is true even if oracle db does not allow null

    - by matti
Hi. I have column SomeId in table SomeLink. When I look with tOra or Sql Plus Worksheet both state: tOra: Column name Data type Default Null Comment SOMEID INTEGER {null} NOT NULL {null} Sql Plus: SOMEID NOT NULL NUMBER(38) I have authored a method that's intended to give default values to all NOT NULL fields that don't have values: public static void GetDefaultValuesForNonNullColumns(DataRow row) { foreach(DataColumn col in row.Table.Columns) { if (Convert.IsDBNull(row[col]) && !col.AllowDBNull) { if (ColumnIsNumeric(col.DataType)) row[col] = 0; else if (col.DataType == typeof(DateTime)) row[col] = DateTime. Now; else if (col.DataType == typeof(String)) row[col] = string.Empty; else if (col.DataType == typeof(Char)) row[col] = ' '; else throw new Exception(string.Format("Unsupported column type: {0}", col.DataType)); } } } When SOMEID is handled in loop the AllowDBNull = true. I really can't understand. The table is created in DataSet like this: _someLinkAdptr = _dbFactory.CreateDataAdapter(); _someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand = _dbFactory.CreateCommand(); _someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand.Connection = _cnctn; _someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand.CommandText = GetSomeLinkSelectTxtAndParams(_someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand, UndefinedValue.ToString(), UndefinedValue.ToString()); Select command returns no rows. The idea is that I can then use commandbuilder to get InsertCommand without building it myself. The row is added to dataset's table like this: private static void CreateDocLink(int anId, int anotherId) { DataRow row = _someDataSet.Tables["SomeLink"].NewRow(); row["AnId"] = anId; row["AnotherId"] = anotherId; Utility.GetDefaultValuesForNonNullColumns(row); _someDataSet.Tables["SomeLink"].Rows.Add(row); } When DataAdapter is updated to oracle db I get: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into (SOMESCHEMA.SOMELINK.SOMEID) Cheers & BR -Matti

  • Proftpd log issue

Hi, I'm developing an application where I read the current changes in certain folders on the server via FTP. The problem is that on files which begin with non-standart symbols as "~" the FTP server doesn't write full path name in the log Here is a part of my log: myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:11 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [STOR] [/home/myuser/public_html/galleries/~ajax-loader.gif] myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:11 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [MFMT] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:11 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [MLST] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:23:50:11 +0300] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [MLST] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:11 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [MLST] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:12 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [PASV] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:12 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [STOR] [/home/myuser/public_html/galleries/~~ajax-loader.gif                                                                                            ] myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:12 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [MFMT] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:20:50:12 +0000] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [MLST] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:23:50:12 +0300] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [MLST] [-] myuser [14/Jun/2010:23:50:22 +0300] ::ffff:217.145.84.66 [DELE] [] As you can see, all operations work very well except [DELE] command. My proftpd.conf file and its log's settings: LogFormat               default "%U %t %a [%m] [%f]" ExtendedLog             /var/log/proftpd ALL default #SystemLog               /var/log/proftpd ALL default #TransferLog             /var/log/proftpd ALL default Does anybody have a solution for this issue ?
