    I have a p:commandButton on click of which I need to add a few values to a list. In my managed bean, I'm validating the value that has to be added, and if it validates to false, I have to display a confirmation popup. This is my code - <p:commandButton id="add" value="Add" type="submit" action="#{bean.doAdd}" ajax="false" update=":List"/> And in the bean, on click of the "Add" button, public String doAdd() throws Exception { if(response != null) { if(keyList.contains(response)) { if(!responseList.contains(response)) { responseList.add(response); } } else { //Have to display confirmation popup. } response = ""; } return response; } I'm using jsf 2.0 and primefaces 3.0.   • How can I store large amount of data from a database to XML (memory problem)?

    First, I had a problem with getting the data from the Database, it took too much memory and failed. I've set -Xmx1500M and I'm using scrolling ResultSet so that was taken care of. Now I need to make an XML from the data, but I can't put it in one file. At the moment, I'm doing it like this: while(rs.next()){ i++; xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t<row>"); xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t\t<ID>" + Util.transformToHTML(rs.getInt("id")) + "</ID>"); xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t\t<JED_ID>" + Util.transformToHTML(rs.getInt("jed_id")) + "</JED_ID>"); xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t\t<IME_PJ>" + Util.transformToHTML(rs.getString("ime_pj")) + "</IME_PJ>"); //etc. xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t</row>"); if (i%100000 == 0){ //stores the data to a file with the name i.xml storeKBR(xmlStringBuilder.toString(),i); xmlStringBuilder= null; xmlStringBuilder= new StringBuilder(); } and it works; I get 12 100 MB files. Now, what I'd like to do is to do is have all that data in one file (which I then compress) but if just remove the if part, I go out of memory. I thought about trying to write to a file, closing it, then opening, but that wouldn't get me much since I'd have to load the file to memory when I open it. P.S. If there's a better way to release the Builder, do let me know :)

  • Using HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError parameter for heap dump for JBoss

    I was told I can add the -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError parameter to my JVM start up options to my JBoss start up script to get a heap dump when we get an out of memory error in our application. I was wondering where this data gets dumped? Is it just to the console, or to some log file? If it's just to the console, what if I'm not logged into the unix server through the console? Thanks

At the top in the xml file I get.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> Note that standalone is no, even thou I have it set to yes. The first question: How do I get standalone = yes?     I have entities similar to: ProductLine: id, name ProductLineContents: content_id, product_line_id Content: id, text, updated_time What I'd like to do is: for each product line, get the latest content (so if theres two content entries associated to one product line, the latest updated_time is rturned, and if one content item is associated to two product lines, it is returned twice). Something similar to: select content.* from productline inner join productlinecontents inner join content; However I can't seem to figure out how to have Hibernate Criteria return a different entity than the original one it was created with. So if I wanted to start the criteria at the product line with createCriteria(ProductLine.class) along with the proper joins, then it only returns ProductLine objects, but I need Content objects. What's the best way to accomplish this? The actual data model is much more complex and can't be modified

    I would like to intercept outgoing calls and pass them to a VOIP application. I see that the Google Voice application has a feature for displaying a question before each call is actually initiated. It provides the user with the choice: Initiate call via Google Voice Initiate call via standard call I would like a way to do something similar with my application (so that not all calls have to be routed through it). At the moment, I can intercept CALL events via a BroadcastReceiver, however, these are not allowed to open dialogs (thus making it possible to display the choice). What is the best way of achieving this goal?

    I want to schedule an alarm which throws an intent when the date changes. I know that this would do this the job alarms.setRepeating(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP,triggerAtTime, interval,alarmIntent); But what is confusing me is what to put in the triggerAtTime and the interval.It says System.currentTimeMillis() timebase. I might be installing the app on any day so the TriggerAtTime should be midnight of that day and the interval would be 24 hours from there on. How can I acheive this.Can someone tell me what to put in TriggerAtTime and interval in the required format. Thanks

    I'm looking for a collection that offers list semantics, but also allows array semantics. Say I have a list with the following items: apple orange carrot pear then my container array would: container[0] == apple container[1] == orangle container[2] == carrot Then say I delete the orange element: container[0] == apple container[1] == carrot I don't particularly care if sort order is maintained, I'd just like the array values to function as accelerators to the list items, and I want to collapse gaps in the array without having to do an explicit resizing.

    In a managed bean you have fields, and the fields have getters and setters. But I also need to save values back to, in this case, a Notes profile document. So I have a loadProfileDocument and a saveProfileDocument method. I was thinking of using the bean in the application scope. How do I make sure the profile document is saved? Do I have to call the saveProfileDocument from the setter? Do I call the saveProfileDocument() explisitly? Could I use a destructor (finalize)? Or what...???...

    The opposite of this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/138099/how-do-i-add-a-type-to-gwts-serialization-policy-whitelist GWT is adding undesired types to the serialization policy and bloating my JS. How do I trim my GWT whitelist by hand? Or should I at all? For example, if I put the interface List on a GWT RPC service class, GWT has to generate Javascript that handles ArrayList, LinkedList, Stack, Vector, ... even though my team knows we're only ever going to return an ArrayList. I could just make the method's return type ArrayList, but I like relying on an interface rather than a specific implementation. After all, maybe one day we will switch it up and return e.g. a LinkedList. In that case, I'd like to force the GWT serialization policy to compile for only ArrayList and LinkedList. No Stacks or Vectors. These implicit restrictions have one huge downside I can think of: a new member of the team starts returning Vectors, which will be a runtime error. So besides the question in the title, what is your experience designing around this?

  • Good way to "wrap" jars for OSGi with Maven

    I was looking at the PAX tools on OPS4J for example: this one and I thought I'd found a nice way to: Specify an artifact Create an assembled jar (jar that contains all dependencies) from that jar and it's transitive dependencies Wrap it with BND to create an OSGi bundle It turns out, that I was wrong - it doesn't appear that the PAX stuff does this. (RTFM, right? :) ) But this got me wondering: is there something out there that does what I'm asking? I've thought maybe I could do this by creating a simple POM and using the maven-bundle-plugin but this seems like it might be a bit cumbersome for what I'm asking. NOTE: I get that embedding and assembling jar's is not really "the OSGi way" - so I wouldn't do this unless I really felt it useful. For example - Spring. Thanks in advance.
