  • symfony 2.0 stable enough to use?

    i wonder if symfony 2.0 is stable enough to use? cause i never used symfony before. it seems that symfony 2 is much more better than the previous version and i dont want to relearn/recode everything some months from now. when do you think symfony 2.0 will be released? will it be a wise choice to use 2.0 now?

  • Getting All categories in external page.

    This is very basic magento question i guess. I want to first get all the store categories, then loop through them to get their sub-categories and products and similarly continue till the last sub-category. I will be using this in an external page having Mage::app() declared at the top of the page. I am not aware of the Magento API's(if thats wat they are called) to use to get this functionality. Remember I am not using this in any of the templates, so something like getCurrentCategory() will not work here i guess. Also please guide if there are any good resources to search for particular functionality in magento and API's to implement it, or am i doomed to go through their phpdoc to know the list of methods. Any help here will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

    I've got a lot of text, similar to the following paragraph, which I'd like to split into words without punctuation (', ", ,, ., newline etc).. with a few exceptions. Initially considered endemic to the Chalakudy River system in Kerala state, southern India, but now recognised to have a wider distribution in surrounding drainages including the Periyar, Manimala, and Pamba river though the Manimala data may be questionable given it seems to be the type locality of P. denisonii. In the Achankovil River basin it occurs sympatrically, and sometimes syntopically, with P. denisonii. Wild stocks may have dwindled by as much as 50% in the last 15 years or so with collection for the aquarium trade largely held responsible although habitats are also being degraded by pollution from agricultural and domestic sources, plus destructive fishing methods involving explosives or organic toxins. The text refers to P. denisonii which is a species of fish. It's an abbreviation of Genus species. I would like this reference to be one word.     Suppose we have this html content, and we are willing to get Content1, Content2,.. with regular expression. <li>Content1</li> <li>Content2</li> <li>Content3</li> <li>Content4</li> If I use the line below preg_match_all('/<li>(.*)<\/li>/', $text, $result); i will get an array with a single row containing: Content1</li> <li>Content2</li> <li>Content3</li> <li>Content4 And by using this code: preg_match_all('/<li>(.*?)<\/li>/', $text, $result); i will get an array with 4 row containing Content1, Content2, ... Why (.*) is not working since it means match any character zero or more times

  • Doctrine 1.2: Can a model have two instances of the sluggabl behavior?

    I dont see any direct mention on using multiple slugs (or any behavior for that matter) for single model. Is there a way to use the sluggable behavior to generate two separate slugs for a model? For example i need to generate two slugs for every record a product_id consisting of a slugified company name and sku and a distributor_id consisting of a different slugified company name. Obviously i could write this myself fairly easily, im just wondering if this can be done quickly with Sluggable.

The user can enter anything in that textarea, e.g. many double or single quotes. How can I store that data? Normally we store by adding that data in one variable and then put that in sql, but the quotes cause problems.

    After taking into accound answers for my questions here and here I created (well may-be) improved version of my wrapper. The key issue was what if an attacker is knowing what is encoded - he might then find the key and encode another messages. So I added XOR before encryption.   • Does sending mails with mail() hide the recipieints address

    I am trying to build a email messaging system for a classified site ( a la craigslist), so that users can email each other. emails of registered users are stored in a database. What I want is for the recipients email address to be hidden from the sender's . If I just use the mail() function and dynamically get the recipients email from the database, will this email be visible to the person sending the mail ?? if the recipients email is indeed hidden from the sender's when using mail() this way, then why does craigslist anonymize's email ? isn't it already anonymous ? Edit: so the email won't be visible to the person filling the form. SO the question remains is why does craigslist anonymizes email addresses? and whether I should implement the same ?

    We have a large number of data in many categories with many properties, e.g. category 1: Book properties: BookID, BookName, BookType, BookAuthor, BookPrice category 2: Fruit properties: FruitID, FruitName, FruitShape, FruitColor, FruitPrice We have many categories like book and fruit. Obviously we can create many tables for them (MySQL e.g.), and each category a table. But this will have to create too many tables and we have to write many "adapters" to unify manipulating data. The difficulties are: 1) Every category has different properties and this results in a different data structure. 2) The properties of every categoriy may have to be changed at anytime. 3) Hard to manipulate data if each category a table (too many tables) How do you store such kind of data?

    Basically, I have multiple URL's stored in a MySQL table. I want to pull those URLs from the table and have cURL connect to all of them. Currently I've been storing the URL's in the local script, but I've added a new page that I can add and remove them from the database, and I'd like the page to reflect it appropriately. Execute it and go. curl_exec($ch); //Execute curl_close($ch); //Close it off } Now I assume it can't be too amazingly difficult to do, I just don't know how. So if you could point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. But if you supply me with some code, please comment it appropriately so that I can understand what each line is doing.
