  • Running Python scripts in a browser

    I want to start learning Python - and I'm having trouble getting scripts to load up in a browser (using Wamp). So far I've tried the following: 1: add the following lines to httpd.conf: AddHandler cgi-script .py Options ExecCGI I navigate to localhost/path/to/script/myscript.py but get an Internal Server error. 2: downloaded mod_wsgi-win32-ap22py26-3.0.so - renamed to mod_wsgi (running Wamp with Apache 2.2) added the following lines to httpd.conf AddHandler mod_wsgi .py WSGIScriptAlias /wsgi/ "path/to/my/pythonscripts/folder/" but when I navigate to the script - it renders the script in it's entirety i.e. #!c:/Python26/python.exe -u print "hello world" I managed to get CherryPy working, but ideally I want to learn the language in a relatively raw context before digging into a framework. Can anyone give me some pointers?

  • Sensitive data in init scripts

    I'm adapting some examples I've found by Googling to build an init script to run a VirtualBox OSE virtual machine as a daemon. I would like to specify a password for VNC access to the VM, and this must be given as an argument to the VBoxHeadless command. Conventionally, init scripts are readable by standard users, and this seems like a useful convention, but I also don't want the VNC password for this VM to be stored in easily accessible plain text. What's the most appropriate/conventional way to handle this kind of situation? Maybe put a root-readable supporting data file someplace, and have the init script load the value from there?

  • Nginx + PHP-FPM, php scripts not running

    I installed a LEMP stack on Linode using one of the stack scripts they offer. I actually didn't run it on boot but instead entered the commands manually since it seemed to not install everything correctly. Anyway, after installing everything and starting both the server and php-fpm without error, I created a phpinfo(); page on the default nginx location (/var/www/index.php). Problem is that it's not executing the script and instead displays as a static file. Anyone know how I could approach this?

    Hi there, I'm new to Python. I use Python 2.7 and I am running Windows Vista (64-bit). How do I make it when I click on .py scripts... that it opens up in IDLE so I can edit it a snap? Ya know... without having to open IDLE by itself. Heh. I got all the way to C:\Python27\Lib\idlelib but I don't see the IDLE application. Then when I do right-click and "Default open with" and select the idle.bat file.. I get this: Thanks!

  • Apache: Use Specific Applicaion for CGI scripts

    I have two servers, one in production and one for development. The production server is Solaris, dev is FreeBSD. Because of this, python is installed in different directories. I'm using Python right now for making CGI scripts, and needing to remember to swap my hashbangs when I copy from dev to production is a little annoying (Same issue for SVN updates depending on which server I'm comitting from). Is there a way to configure apache so that I no longer need to hashbangs? Like, if it would lauch python and supply the CGI script for it? Might be a bit of a stretch, but no harm in asking

  • What are people using as Login scripts in large enterprises

    Hi, We have recently been tasked with looking after the user login side of things in our enterprise (windows clients in active directory). We have a system at the moment that uses a vbscript login/loggof script to call a couple of DLL written in vb 6. The DLL's actions are controled by some config files based on users/groups witch is administrated from a central app. This is quite a good system, but kind of want to come away from vb6 for the dll's (maybe port them to c++ but them you have to make them com+ to call them from vbscripts etc) and possibly away from vbscript for the actual login scripts themselves. Just wondered what other people are using, what people can suggest etc Thanks Luke

  • Install user scripts on Chrome

    I created a JavaScript file, and named it test.user.js. I tried double clicking it, dragging & dropping it into Chrome and opening it with Chrome, but it won't install. I've already installed the dev version of Chrome, because it's stated somewhere that it's needed, but I can't get it to work. Then, I tried searching for a Chrome Greasemonkey addon, just to see that it was no further developed on, because Chrome has built-in support. Could someboy tell me what I have to do in order to get user scripts working on Chrome v21?

  • can't run binaries or shell scripts

    I am running Debian testing and I am not able to run any binary or shell script. I keep getting "No such file or directory". The umask is the default one and I haven't fooled around with the paths. Also, I am aware of this question, but it doesn't work out for me - I compiled my code on this machine and trying to run it on the same machine. Also, all of my shell scripts have the correct shebang. Any advices?

  • Troubleshoot Perl module installation on Mac OS X

    I'm trying to install the Perl module Set::IntervalTree on Mac OS X. I recently installed it today on an Ubuntu box with no problem.     I'm using suidperl to run some programs that require root permissions. however, the runtime linker won't expand library paths which contain $ORIGIN entries so the programs i want to run (jstack from java) won't run. more info here There is one exception to the advice to make heavy use of $ORIGIN. The runtime linker will not expand tokens like $ORIGIN for secure (setuid) applications.     I'm using suidperl to run some programs that require root permissions. however, the runtime linker won't expand library paths which contain $ORIGIN entries so the programs i want to run (jstack from java) won't run. more info here There is one exception to the advice to make heavy use of $ORIGIN. The runtime linker will not expand tokens like $ORIGIN for secure (setuid) applications.     Is it possible to use the new client side validation features of asp.net MVC 2 without having to use the MS scripts (MicrosoftAjax.js, MicrosoftMvcAjax.js, MicrosoftMvcValidation.js)? I use JQuery throughout my application; JQuery has a great plugin for validation and I don't really want to force my users to load MS scripts just for validation. Is this possible? If so, any suggestions for how to accomplish it are appreciated.

    One of my utility jar files is used by different nix scripts, located in different categories. Problem: unable to initialize log4j framework (unable to find log4j.xml). Solution, that allows to configure logger correctly while launching jar classes by different scripts - usage of env vars and force configuring using DOMConfigurtor.configure(pathToConfXml) method. is it possible to avoid path hardcoding and configure logger inside of a script?     I ran /scripts/easyapache on one of my cpanel servers last night and since then PHP just gives 501 errors, which no logs I can find. And login/password for destination ftp are plain text. I need somehow encrypt it or hide it in case of website hacking. I would like to clarify my question in the following items. We are storing the data in Rackspace Cloud files. We can't pull as Cloud files doesn't allow you run a script. We can write the script to run on Server A and pull FTP and MySQL data on servers B, C, D, etc. And we want to protect the passwords on A from the situation where A is hacked.   • Not able to find scripts present in /etc/profile.d directory [on hold]

    I am using Red Hat Linux 6.0 ... using davinchi board. I have to change system clock resolution so I am changing (HZ) env var. For this I have written script so that I can change HZ = 1000 n insert that script in /etc/profile.d and write code for loop in /etc/profile so that while running as usual /etc/profile can load the scripts present in /etc/profile.d. But when I am logging into the system at root level then showing error as "-bash: ./etc/profile.d/resolution.sh(my script name): No such file or directory Also here why it is showing ./etc and not /etc . Is something related to that?? Also I tried to add script in /etc/init.d but still no change in value of HZ takes place. Please tell where to change so that this env var can get changed. The script(resolution.sh) written has :- #!/bin/bash export HZ=1000 The content of /etc/profile which I entered is: if [ -d /etc/profile.d ]; then for i in /etc/profile.d/*.sh; do if [ -r $i ]; then .$i fi done unset i fi And the output of grep command is -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 535 Feb 4 2004 profile -rwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Feb 2 2004 profile.d
