  • How do I install PyYAML into local install of Python?

    I've installed Python 2.6.4 into (a subdirectory in) my home directory on a Linux machine with Python 2.3.4 pre-installed, because I need to run some code that I've decided would require too much work to make it run on 2.3.4. (I'm not on the sudoers list for that machine.) I was hoping I could run ~/Python-2.6.4/python setup.py install (from the PyYAML directory in my home directory, where I untarred the PyYAML sources) and it would be smart enough to install it into my local Python 2.6.4 install. But it's not. (See the P.S.) Is it possible to install PyYAML into my local Python install, so that "import yaml" will work when I invoke that Python? If so, how do I do that? P.S.   • Ubuntu tweak not showing all the menus

    Ubuntu-Tweak doesn't have the option Startup which includes Session Manager Session Control and few other options are not there. I am running the latest version available to download.     I have an HTC Desire HD, with Android Froyo (2.2) and PDANet installed. I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I cannot tether it over Bluetooth either with Network Manager or BlueMan. (note, I installed Blueman only after failing with NetWork manager, and I even tried the last version from the PPA). With both my device is discovered, paired, setup. But connecting always fail.   • Standard Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation fails on SOA ManagedServer start

    Hi, Trying to install Oracle Fusion Middleware 11gR2 on windows (same thing happens on Linux). I have followed the guidelines provided in the http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e14318/toc.htm Installing the weblogic (11g) Oracle 11g databse installation Running the RCU utility to create schema Installed and copied relevant files for Java Bridge Configure the Fusion Middleware But i found that the SOA server is not getting up in the enterprise manager its showing as down.   • WSUS 3.0 SP2 installation fails at "configuring database" step.

    Attempting to install WSUS 3.0 SP2 on a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise system. I'm asking the setup to create a new database on one of our existing SQL Server 2005 systems. When the setup gets to the "configuring database" step it stops and throws "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." The two logs it suggests I look at are below. I'm not seeing any errors that mean anything to me.   • Used DBAN to wipe Lenovo u410 then installed Ubuntu. Need to install windows 8, but I get an error.

    When I try to boot from my windows 8 USB (tested on a separate PC), I get this error text "The boot configuration data for your pc is missing or contains errors." I want to install windows again so I can fix a battery issue I'm having. Lenovo's power management app has an option to keep the battery at 60% if the laptop stays plugged in most of the time. I enabled this, then formatted without changing it back. I think there might be a raid setup that I may need to remove or something. I don't mind removing Ubuntu and starting fresh. I would just love some help with all this, I'm a noob when it comes to Linux.

    My Ubuntu get into error when I try to mount one of my internal disks and it gives this error message: Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 13: $MFTMirr does not match $MFT (record 3). Failed to mount '/dev/sda7': Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation for more details. pls advise how to solve above error ,Many thanks to you in advance.

If I run vmware-hgfsclient in a terminal, I get the list of shared folders but /mnt/hgfs is empty.

    Let's say I have a directory that has a 403 forbidden error for all of the content in it, however a few of the images in the subdirectoies of the main diretory do NOT have a 403 forbidden error. Will this fact affect my ranking? For example: test.com/system/ (HAS 403 ERROR FOR ALL FILES) - test.com/system/pie/ (HAS 403 ERROR FOR ALL FILES) - test.com/system/pie/image.png (DOES NOT HAVE A 403 ERROR, AND THIS IMAGE IS EMBEDED ON A PAGE ON test.com e.g(test.com/pie/)) This sort of pattern repeats for about 10 different images. This directory is like a secret "system", however all of the content on the main site (test.com) is still accessible to everyone from the public.

    Has anyone had any luck compiling and installing Samba 3.0.24 on Ubuntu 10.04? I'm trying to set up realtime virus scanning on Samba shares (ClamAV) using the legacy version of Samba as it is the latest release supported by samba-vscan-0.3.6b. I'm no expert at this but I think I have all of the dependencies covered and I'm following the documentation with the source code but I'm getting errors as if there is a problem with the source code. I downloaded the source directly from http://ftp.samba.org/pub/samba/stable/samba-3.0.24.tar.gz After running ./configure and make, I get the following error.     I have got a new Samsung Series 7 laptop with dual boot setup for Windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.10. The Ubuntu installation was quite a hassle, but with the help of Boot Repair finally it seemed to work. Or so I thought. Windows 8 starts fine, but if I want to start Ubuntu regularly the following error occurs, quite similar to this one [Hardware Error] CPU 1: Machine Check Exception: 5 Bank 6 [Hardware Error] RIP !inexact! 33 <00007fab2074598a> [Hardware Error] TSC 95b623464c ADDR fe400 MISC 3880000086 .. [similar messages for CPU 2,3 and 0] .. [Hardware Error] Machine Check: Processor context corrupt Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal Machine Check Rebooting in 30 seconds Kernel panic does not sound good. Then it starts to reboot, and the second boot trial often works. Is it a Kernel or driver problem? The laptop has an Intel Core i7 processor. I already deactivated Hyperthreading in the BIOS, but it does not seem to help :-(
