  • How can I highlight the corresponding titles of clicked links?

    - by danielle
    I'm writing an XSL file that contains a side-nav menu with a list of links. When the user clicks on one of the links, the page jumps to the corresponding table of information for that link. How can I make it so that when the link is clicked, the title of that table (not the link itself) is highlighted? It should also un-highlight if another link is clicked. Here is the menu of links: <div onclick = "highlight(this);" onblur = "undoHighlight(this);"> <a href = "#{generate-id(.)}"> <xsl:value-of select = "."/> (<xsl:value-of select = "count(../n1:entry)"/>) </a> </div> This is the javascript for the highlight/undoHighlight functions: function highlight(link) { undoHighlight(link) link.style.background = "red"; } function undoHighlight(link) { link.style.background = "white"; } Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • 'JQuery' is undefined

    - by Raja
    I am working on a ASP.net project created with local file system settings. I am using MVC and Jquery. Jquery is working fine when I run the application in debug mode i.e. in ASP.net Development server. I am trying to host the application in IIS 7. In hosted mode, it does not recognize Jquery and gives scripting error 'Jquery is undefined'. The locations of the script files is unchanged in both modes. Can anybody have any clue what can be the reason and how to solve this. My code look like this; <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.debug.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.debug.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.2.6.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <!-- YUI Styles --> <link href="../../Content/reset.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <link href="../../Content/fonts.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <link href="../../Content/grids.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <!-- /YUI Styles --> <link href="../../Content/knowledgebase.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script type="text/javascript"> //this hides the javascript warning if javascript is enabled (function($) { $(document).ready(function() { $('#jswarning').hide(); }); })(jQuery); </script> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="ScriptContent" runat="server" /> ....

  • Rot13 for numbers.

    - by dreeves
    EDIT: Now a Major Motion Blog Post at http://messymatters.com/sealedbids The idea of rot13 is to obscure text, for example to prevent spoilers. It's not meant to be cryptographically secure but to simply make sure that only people who are sure they want to read it will read it. I'd like to do something similar for numbers, for an application involving sealed bids. Roughly I want to send someone my number and trust them to pick their own number, uninfluenced by mine, but then they should be able to reveal mine (purely client-side) when they're ready. They should not require further input from me or any third party. (Added: Note the assumption that the recipient is being trusted not to cheat.) It's not as simple as rot13 because certain numbers, like 1 and 2, will recur often enough that you might remember that, say, 34.2 is really 1. Here's what I'm looking for specifically: A function seal() that maps a real number to a real number (or a string). It should not be deterministic -- seal(7) should not map to the same thing every time. But the corresponding function unseal() should be deterministic -- unseal(seal(x)) should equal x for all x. I don't want seal or unseal to call any webservices or even get the system time (because I don't want to assume synchronized clocks). (Added: It's fine to assume that all bids will be less than some maximum, known to everyone, say a million.) Sanity check: > seal(7) 482.2382 # some random-seeming number or string. > seal(7) 71.9217 # a completely different random-seeming number or string. > unseal(seal(7)) 7 # we always recover the original number by unsealing.

  • Get Chinese Romanization from Google Translate API

    - by krubo
    The Google language translate API works cleanly to translate into Chinese: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script> google.load('language','1'); function googletrans(text) { google.language.translate(text,'en','zh',function(result) { alert(result.translation); }); } </script> <input onchange="googletrans(this.value);"> Example input: "Hello" Result: "??" My problem is I can't get the Romanization (pronunciation using English letters). This is a known issue. Now the data is right there on translate.google.com (Example input: "Hello" Result: "Ni hao") and I can even see it by pointing my browser to: http://translate.google.com/translate_a/t?client=t&text=hello&hl=en&sl=en&tl=zh-CN&otf=2&pc=0 Result: {"sentences":[{"trans":"??","orig":"hello","translit":"Ni hao"}], "dict":[{"pos":"interjection","terms":["?"]}],"src":"en"} But somehow when I try to get this URL with ajax it fails (XMLHttpRequest Exception 101). Is there any way to retrieve this Romanization data with ajax?

  • Unable to run jQuery Masonry in a Sencha Touch 2 app

    - by torr
    In my ST2 app I have on index.html <script id="jquery" type="text/javascript" src="resources/js/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script> <script id="masonry" type="text/javascript" src="resources/js/masonry-2.1.5.js"></script> as well as <script> $(document).ready(function(){ var $container = $('.x-list-container'); $container.imagesLoaded(function(){ $container.masonry({ itemSelector: '.x-list-item', }); }); }); </script> My front page on the app is a list so it wraps elements as such <div class="x-list-container"> <div class="x-list-item"></div> // 'x-list-item' is the block I want to float <div class="x-list-item"></div> ... </div> However once everything is loaded and I inspect .x-list-item there is no style positioning the div. I am experience with Masonry on regular web app but can;t make it work here. It's like Masonry isn't running at all. It is being loaded (checked on the network tab) and jQuery is being loaded (on network tab and tested using if (jQuery) {alert('hey there');. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? }

  • Using pipes in Linux with C

    - by Dave
    Hi, I'm doing a course in Operating Systems and we're supposed to learn how to use pipes to transfer data between processes. We were given this simple piece of code which demonstrates how to use pipes,but I'm having difficulty understanding it. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <unistd.h> main() { int pipefd [2], n; char buff[100] ; if( pipe( pipefd) < 0) { printf("can not create pipe \n"); } printf("read fd = %d, write fd = %d \n", pipefd[0], pipefd[1]); if ( write (pipefd[1],"hello world\n", 12)!= 12) { printf("pipe write error \n"); } if( ( n = read ( pipefd[0] , buff, sizeof ( buff) ) ) <= 0 ) { printf("pipe read error \n"); } write ( 1, buff, n ) ; exit (0); } What does the write function do? It seems to send data to the pipe and also print it to the screen (at least it seems like the second time the write function is called it does this). Does anyone have any suggestions of good websites for learning about topics such as this, FIFO, signals, other basic linux commands used in C?

  • Display real time years, months, weeks and days between 2 days in JavaScript

    - by alex
    This is what I've coded it up, and it appears to work. window.onload = function() { var currentSpan = document.getElementById('current'); var minute = 60000, hour = minute * 60, day = hour * 24, week = day * 7, month = week * 4, year = day * 365; var start = new Date(2009, 6, 1); setInterval(function() { var now = new Date(); var difference = now - start; var years = Math.floor(difference / year), months = Math.floor((difference - (years * year)) / month), weeks = Math.floor((difference - (months * month + years * year)) / week), days = Math.floor((difference - (weeks * week + months * month + years * year)) / day); currentSpan.innerHTML = 'Since has passed: ' + years + ' years, ' + months + ' months, ' + weeks + ' weeks and ' + days + ' days'; }, 500); }; This seems to update my span fine, and all the numbers look correct. However, the code looks quite ugly. Do I really need to set up faux constants like that, and then do all that math to calculate what I want? It's been a while since I've worked with the Date object. Is this the best way to do this?

  • Flex 3 - Saving an image of a component

    - by Emma
    Im currently trying to work the imageSnapshot function in flex. Ive been looking hard but I cant seem to find a solution to my problem. I wish to take a screenshot of one of my components, to capture the final output of my program, since a plain "printscreen" cuts off some of the output due to it scrolling. My current code looks like - <mx:ApplicationControlBar dock="true"> <mx:Button label="Take snapshot of Profile" click="takeSnapshot();" /> </mx:ApplicationControlBar> Which when called does - private function takeSnapshot(even:Event=null):void { var imageSnap:ImageSnapshot = ImageSnapshot.captureImage(viewstack1); Now i think this is taking the image of the viewstack which I want... But Im stumped on what to do from here! Is it not possible to now just copy the image to the clipboard, or produce a new window in my browser with the entire image inside? If anyone has any other way to do this, suggestions would be wonderful. Thank you for your time.

  • jQuery .attr() crashing Internet Explorer

    - by Sunyatasattva
    Hello everyone, This is my first time posting a question here, as I usually try to find solutions myself. This one, though, being an IE issue, just drives me crazy. I use jQuery cycle plug-in on a website I made and, to populate a caption div, I use a little function that is called after the image is loaded, which uses the "alt" attribute of the image. This seems to exasperate Internet Explorer, which, doesn't have the time to fulfill this apparently so-complicated task, and, as the slideshow cycles, it enters in an infinite loop and eventually crashes – the newer the version, the worse the crash: the older IEs just display an error message saying “The webpage cannot be displayed”, while the newer (7 and 8) completely crash the system. I have no idea on how to solve or work around this. Here is the problematic code. function changeCaption() { var caption = $("img", this).attr("alt"); $('#caption').fadeIn("slow").html(caption); } Thanks in advance for any pointer: I am amazed as how something so simple and globally recognized (didn't encounter any other browser who had problem with this), can cause a problem so big. I also read somewhere that being able to crash a browser remotely is a serious issue :) Lucio

  • Dymanic if statement evaluation problem with string comparison

    - by Mani
    I tried the example given in http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=780576&tstart=67605 to create if statement dynamically. But it is not working fine. Instead of using "age" variable as integer, i have used string in the below example. I am getting "fail" as answer instead of "success". Can anyone help me? / To change this template, choose Tools | Templates and open the template in the editor. / import java.lang.reflect.*; import bsh.Interpreter; public class Main { public static String d; public static void main(String args[]) { try { String age = "30"; String cond = "age==30"; Interpreter i = new Interpreter(); i.set("age", age); System.out.println(" sss" + i.get("age")); if((Boolean)i.eval(cond)) { System.out.println("success"); } else { System.out.println("fail"); } } catch (Throwable e) { System.err.println(e); } } } Thanks, Mani

  • matching an element's class to another element's ID, or *part* of another element's ID

    - by shecky
    hello again Such a simple concept but I'm struggling to express it ... apologies in advance for my verbosity. I have a container div with a class, e.g., ; I want to use that class to do two things: add a class (e.g., 'active') to the nav element whose ID matches the class of div#container (e.g., #nav-primary li# apples) add the same class to another element if part of this element's ID matches the class of #container (e.g., div#secondary-apples) I assume there's an .each() loop to check the primary nav's list items' IDs, and to check the div IDs of the secondary nav ... though the latter needs to have its prefix trimmed ... or should I say more simply if the secondary nav div IDs contain the class of div#container? I've tried a few variations of something like this: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#nav-primary li').each(function(){ var containerClass = $('#container').attr('class'); var secondaryID = $('#nav-primary li').attr('id'); // something like if ('#nav-primary li id' == (containerClass) { } // or should I first store a variable of the LI's ID and do something like this: if ( secondaryID == containerClass ) { } // and for the trickier part, how do I filter/trim the secondary nav div IDs, something like this: var secondaryNavID = $('#aux-left div[id ... something here to strip the 'secondary-' bit ... ]'); }); // end each }); // end doc.ready.func </script> The markup is, e.g.: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Many thanks in advance for any suggestions, svs

  • testing if constructor in constructor chain

    - by Delan Azabani
    I'm attempting to implement a GTK+ inspired widget toolkit for the web in JavaScript. One of the constructor chains goes gtk.widget => gtk.container => gtk.bin => gtk.window Every gtk.widget has a showAll method, which, if and only if the widget is a gtk.container or derivative (such as gtk.bin or gtk.window), will recursively show the children of that widget. Obviously, if it isn't a gtk.container or derivative, we shouldn't do anything because the widget in question can't contain anything. For reference, here is my inheritance function; it's probably not the best, but it's a start: function inherit(target, parent) { target.prototype = new parent; target.prototype.constructor = target; } I know that I can check for the direct constructor like this: if (this.constructor === gtk.container) ... However, this only tests for direct construction and not, say, if the object is a gtk.bin or gtk.window. How can I test whether gtk.container is somewhere up in the constructor chain?

  • JQuery - Sticky sidebar not working in Firefox

    - by user1473358
    I'm working on a site with a Sticky sidebar (fixed position under certain conditions, etc) that is working fine in Chrome & Safari, but breaks in Firefox. I'm not sure what the issue is since I didn't write the script: $(document).ready(function() { /* var defaults = { containerID: 'toTop', // fading element id containerHoverID: 'toTopHover', // fading element hover id scrollSpeed: 1200, easingType: 'linear' }; */ $().UItoTop({ easingType: 'easeOutQuart' }); if (!!$('.sticky').offset()) { // make sure ".sticky" element exists var stickyTop = $('.sticky').offset().top; // returns number var newsTop = $('#news_single').offset().top; // returns number $(window).scroll(function(){ // scroll event var windowTop = $(window).scrollTop(); // returns number var width = $(window).width(); var height = $(window).height(); if (stickyTop < windowTop && width > 960 && height > 450){ $('.sticky').css({ position: 'fixed', top: 40 }); $('#news_single').css({ left: 230 }); } else { $('.sticky').css('position','static'); $('#news_single').css({ left: 0 }); } }); } }); Here's the site (the sidebar in question is the one with the red header, to the left): http://www.parisgaa.org/parisgaels/this-is-a-heading-too-a-longer-one I'd appreciate any help with this.

  • ZF2: How to get Zend\Navigation inside custom router?

    - by Katan87
    I have custom router and I have to get access to Zend\Navigation inside this custom router. I was googling, asking and searching and no results :/ All I need is to find nodes with 'link' param using Zend\Navigation in my AliasSegment::match function. Here is my module.config.php: 'navigation' => array( // The DefaultNavigationFactory we configured in (1) uses 'default' as the sitemap key 'default' => array( // And finally, here is where we define our page hierarchy 'account' => array( 'label' => 'Account', 'route' => 'node', 'pages' => array( 'home' => array( 'label' => 'Dashboard', 'route' => 'node', 'params' => array( 'id' => '1', 'link' => '/about/gallery' ), ), 'login' => array( 'label' => 'Sign In', 'route' => 'node', 'params' => array( 'id' => '1', 'link' => '/signin' ), ), 'logout' => array( 'label' => 'Sign Out', 'route' => 'node', ), ), ), ), ), [...] 'service_manager' => array( 'factories' => array( 'translator' => 'Zend\I18n\Translator\TranslatorServiceFactory', 'Navigation' => 'Zend\Navigation\Service\DefaultNavigationFactory', ), ), [...] And here is my AliasSegment class: namespace Application\Controller; use Traversable; use Zend\Mvc\Router\Exception; use Zend\Stdlib\ArrayUtils; use Zend\Stdlib\RequestInterface as Request; use Zend\Mvc\Router\Http; class AliasSegment extends \Zend\Mvc\Router\Http\Segment { public function match(Request $request, $pathOffset = null) { //Here i need to have access to Zend\Navigation return parent::match($request, $pathOffset); } }

  • HttpURLConnection: What's the deal with having to read the whole response?

    - by stormin986
    My current problem is very similar to this one. I have a downloadFile(URL) function that creates a new HttpURLConnection, opens it, reads it, returns the results. When I call this function on the same URL multiple times, the second time around it almost always returns a response code of -1 (But throws no exception!!!). The top answer in that question is very helpful, but there are a few things I'm trying to understand. So, if setting http.keepAlive to false solves the problem, it indicates what exactly? That the server is responding in a way that violates the http protocol? Or more likely, my code is violating the protocol in some way? What will the trace tell me? What should I look for? And what's the deal with this: You need to read everything from error stream. Otherwise, it's going to confuse next connection and that's the cause of -1. Does this mean if the response is some type of error (which would be what response code(s)?), the stream HAS to be fully read? Also, every time I am attempting an http request I am basically creating a new connection, and then disconnect()ing it at the end. However, in my case I'm not getting a 401 or whatever. It's always a 200. But my second connection almost always fails. Does this mean there's some other data I should be reading that I'm not (in a similar manner that the error stream must be fully read)? Please help shed some light on this? I feel like there's some fundamental http protocol understanding I'm missing.

  • Type-conditional controls in Haskell

    - by estanford
    I'm going through the 99 Haskell problems to build my proficiency with the language. On problem 7 ("Flatten a nested list structure"), I found myself wanting to define a conditional behavior based on the type of argument passed to a function. That is, since *Main> :t 1 1 :: (Num t) => t *Main> :t [1,2] [1,2] :: (Num t) => [t] *Main> :t [[1],[2]] [[1],[2]] :: (Num t) => [[t]] (i.e. lists nested at different levels have different data types) it seems like I should be able to write a function that can read the type of the argument, and then behave accordingly. My first attempt was along these lines: listflatten l = do if (:t l) /= ((Num t) => [t]) then listflatten (foldl (++) [] l) else id l But when I try to do that, Haskell returns a parse error. Is Haskell flexible enough to allow this sort of type manipulation, do I need to find another way?

  • jQuery scrolling UL with hidden overflow

    - by papermate
    I have a UL with LI's set to display horizontally. The UL has a fixed width and it's set to hide the overflow. This is so I can display my images, which are to be used in a gallery, neatly. It works and looks nice. I want to, however, use jQuery to scroll the contents of the UL rather than set the overflow property to auto and be presented with those ugly scroll bars. I recycled some code I used to do the same thing a few weeks back but, back then, I was doing it in DIV's. Much easier, apparently. $('.gallery_container span').hover( function() { if ($(this).attr('class') == 'up') direction = '-='; else direction = '+='; var divOffset = $('ul.gallery').offset().top; $('ul.gallery').animate({scrollTop: direction + divOffset}, 5000); }, function() { $('ul.gallery').stop(); }); I saw a site that says the scrollTop property can be applied to UL's. So I'm not sure what exactly is causing this not to work. Any ideas? EDIT: Found what was causing it to not work at all but not it scrolls vertically - Kind of expected that. Is there any way to scroll it horizontally?

  • With PascalMock how do I mock a method with an untyped out parameter and an open array parameter?

    - by Oliver Giesen
    I'm currently in the process of getting started with unit testing and mocking for good and I stumbled over the following method that I can't seem to fabricate a working mock implementation for: function GetInstance(const AIID: TGUID; out AInstance; const AArgs: array of const; const AContextID: TImplContextID = CID_DEFAULT): Boolean; (TImplContextID is just an alias for Integer) I thought it would have to look something like this: function TImplementationProviderMock.GetInstance( const AIID: TGUID; out AInstance; const AArgs: array of const; const AContextID: TImplContextID): Boolean; begin Result := AddCall('GetInstance') .WithParams([@AIID, AContextID]) .ReturnsOutParams([AInstance]) .ReturnValue; end; But the compiler complains about the .ReturnsOutParams([AInstance]) saying "Bad argument type in variable type array constructor.". Also I haven't found a way to specify the open array parameter AArgs at all. Also, is using the @-notation for the TGUID-typed parameter the right way to go? Is it possible to mock this method with the current version of PascalMock at all?

  • Problem with giving focus to first element inside a container

    Hi, I am just trying to cycle the focus between elements inside a particular element when the tab key is pressed. What I want to do is not to set focus to any element which is not a descendant of an element when tab is pressed from the last control inside the element. At that time the focus must be set to the first input element inside the container. I have done a sample and it its not working, and I am unable to figure out the issue. Sample can be found here The complete code is Script $(function(){ $(":input:last","#div1").bind("keydown", function(e){ if ( e.keyCode === 9 ) { var firstElem = $(":input:first","#div1"); firstElem.focus(); } }); }); CSS input.red { width: 200px; border: solid 1px red; } input { width: 200px; } HTML <input type="text" class="red" /> <div id="div1"> <input type="text" id="txt1" /> <select id="sel1"> <option>1</option> </select> <input type="text" id="txt2" /> </div> Any help would be appreciated. I read Dave Ward's Answer to the question How to return JSON from a 2.0 asmx web service (in addition to reading other articles at Encosia.com), but I can't figure out how I need to set up the code of my asmx file in order to work with JSON using jQuery. Two Questions: How do I enable JSON in my .NET 2.0 ASMX file? What's a simple jQuery call that could consume the service using JSON? Also, I notice that since I'm using .NET 2.0, I i'm not able to implement using System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService. Here's my C# code for the demo ASMX service: using System; using System.Web; using System.Collections; using System.Web.Services; using System.Web.Services.Protocols; /// <summary> /// Summary description for StockQuote /// </summary> [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] public class StockQuote : System.Web.Services.WebService { public StockQuote () { //Uncomment the following line if using designed components //InitializeComponent(); } [WebMethod] public decimal GetStockQuote(string ticker) { //perform database lookup here return 8; } [WebMethod] public string HelloWorld() { return "Hello World"; } } Here's a snippet of jQuery I found on the internet and tried to modify: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#btnSubmit").click(function(event){ $.ajax({ type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: "http://bmccorm-xp/WebServices/HelloWorld.asmx", data: "", dataType: "json" }) event.preventDefault(); }); });

  • Updates to fullcalendar events (through updateEvent) not maintaining across ajax month changes

    - by user549615
    Hey there. I have the calendar configured to allow me to edit and add (drag/drop) calendar events. I use .fullCalendar('updateEvent', theEvent) to edit an event, and it immediately updates on the page. Excellent. If I move to another month and then move back (get via ajax), that change is undone. By contrast, if I add a new event by drag/drop using: .fullCalendar('renderEvent', newEventObject, true); it appears on the calendar, and if I move to another month, and move back, it maintains. If I edit this newly added event object, and move to another month and back, the updates are retained! So the "stickiness" of edits seem to work on newly added events, but not events that were pulled via ajax (since it just pulls a fresh version via ajax when the month changes). My calendar config is: $('#calendar').fullCalendar({ theme: true, header: { left: "prev,next today", center: 'title', right: "today prev,next" }, selectable: true, selectHelper: true, select: calendarSelect, droppable: true, drop: calendarDrop, events:getCalendarData, eventClick:calendarEventClicked }); I tried setting editable: true, as well, but no dice. I noticed that if I view "event.source" on one of the ajax pulled events, it shows me a function, and if i read the source attribute on one of the "added" events, it reads [object]. So I tried setting the event.source of the event being added, to that same event object: curCalendarEvent.source = curCalendarEvent But no dice. It sets, but when I move back month forward again, it returns to the function as a source. I tried adding lazyFetching: false to my calendar config, but that didn't help. I even tried a .fullCalendar('renderEvent', curCalendarEvent, true); on the existing "edited" event to see if I could get "stick" to work, and it didn't help. The only thing I can think of doing is deleting the event flat out and recreating it. Any help would be appreciated. -Brian
