  • deleting dynamically allocated object that contains vector in C++ STL

    - by kobac
I have a class class ChartLine{ protected: vector<Point> line; // points connecting the line CString name; //line name for legend CPen pen; //color, size and style properties of the line }; where Point is a structure struct Point{ CString x; double y; }; In main() I dynamically allocate objects of type ChartLine with new operator. If I use delete afterwards, will default destructor ~ChartLine() properly dealocate (or clear) member ChartLine::line(which is vector btw) or I would have to clear that vector in ~ChartLine() manually? Thanks in advance. Cheers.

  • is "Object();" a predefined function in javascript?

    - by Qlidnaque
I come across code such as "personObj=new Object();" where a new object called personObj is being defined. What I'm trying to find out is whether Object() is a prefined function in javascript, because I understand by using the mentioned code, a instance of a class is being formed but in the example code where I'm studying from, the class Object() is not being defined anywhere, so I was wondering if Object() was a predefined function in javascript and whether I can be directed to some online resources, as all that shows up in google when I try to find Object() are articles in general javascript object oriented programming.

  • How to make bottom half of a page take up remaining height?

    - by RobVious
I've searched and tried a bunch of different things. I have a variable-height tophalf, and the bottom half should fill up the remaining space. A JSfiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/UCJmQ/ CSS: .top { background-color: lightblue; height: 300px; } .bottom { background-color: green; min-height: 100px; overflow: hidden; height: 100%; } html, body { height: 100%; } HTML: <div class="top"></div> <div class="bottom"> </div> What I'm seeing now is the green page taking up the entire window's height, not the remaining height. How can I make it take the remaining height instead?

  • C++11 initialize array with uniform value in constexpr function

    - by marack
I have a class template which builds a simple array based on the template parameters as one of its members. I need to be able to initialize every element in the array to a single value in one of the constructors. Unfortunately this constructor must be constexpr. The relevant part boils down to: template <typename T, size_t N> class foo { T data[N]; constexpr foo(T val) { // initialize data with N copies of val } }; Using std::fill or a loop is incompatible with the constexpr requirement. Initializing with : data{val} only sets the first element of the array and zero-initializes the remainder. How can this be achieved? I feel like there should be a solution with variadic templates and tuples etc...

  • Where best to instantiate and close a Silverlight-enabled WCF Service from the Silverlight app?

    - by Yttrium
When using a Silverlight-enabled WCF service, where is the best place to instantiate the service and to call the CloseAsync() method? Should you say, instantiate an instance each time you need to make a call to the service, or is it better to just instantiate an instance as a variable of the UserControl that will be making the calls? Then, where is it better to call the CloseAsync method? Should you call it in each of the "someServiceCall_completed" event methods? Or, if created as a variable of the UserControl class, is there a single place to call it? Like a Dispose method, or something equivalent for the UserControl class. Thanks, Jeff

  • Debugging (displaying) SQL command sent to the db by SQLAlchemy

    - by morpheous
I have an ORM class called Person, which wraps around a person table: After setting up the connection to the db etc, I run the ff statement. people = session.query(Person).all() The person table does not contain any data (as yet), so when I print the variable people, I get an empty list. I renamed the table referred to in my ORM class People, to people_foo (which does not exist). I then run the script again. I was surprised that no exception was thrown when attempting to access a table that does not exist. I therefore have the following 2 questions: How may I setup SQLAlchemy so that it propagates db errors back to the script? How may I view (i.e. print) the SQL that is being sent to the db engine If it helps, I am using PostgreSQL as the db

  • How can I use edit_in_place on three different models from a View for a model those three belong_to?

    - by Angela
    I have a model called Campaign. In the controller, I do the following to list, in order, the three Models that belong_to a Campaign: <% @campaign_events = campaign_events %> <% @campaign_events.each do |campaign_event| %> <% model_name = campaign_event.class.name.tableize.singularize %> <p> <%= link_to campaign_event.title, send("#{model_name}_path", campaign_event) %> <span class='model_name'>(<%= model_name.capitalize %>)</span> <%= campaign_event.days %> Days </p> <% end %> campaign_event is a campaign_helper defined as: module CampaignsHelper def campaign_events return (@campaign.calls + @campaign.emails + @campaign.letters).sort{|a,b| a.days <=> b.days} end end I want to be able to click on the numerical value for Days when looking at the view/campaign/show and edit the value for :days (in this case, displayed as campaign_event.days

  • Deselecting an element in jQuery

    - by Michael Itzoe
I have a collection of span elements. In the code I have a global variable that represents the "selected" object. Using the click event when a span is clicked I reset the object's class, reset the global variable, then set the object to the variable and change its class (to make it "highlighted"). This effectively toggles selection when clicking an object. var currentItem = null; $( ".item" ).click( function() { if( $( this ).hasClass( "selected" ) ) { $( this ).removeClass( "selected" ) currentItem = null; } else { if( $( ".item" ).hasClass( "selected" ) ){ $( ".item" ).removeClass( "selected" ) } $( this ).addClass( "selected" ); currentItem = $( this ); } } ); What I'd like to be able to do is unselect when clicking on an empty area of the page. I tried creating a click event on the body object, but that overrode the span click event so nothing was selected. I'm a complete jQuery noob and not sure where to go with this.

  • jQuery .ajax doesn't load Google Adsense

    - by Sahas Katta
Hey Everyone, Just ran into an odd issue. I have a simple WP loop and instead of regular NEXT/BACK pages, I use a jQuery powered $.ajax get to append the following page to the current page. It works perfectly. However, I choose to insert a Google Adsense unit every 5th story. Unfortunately, the Adsense unit that is brought in with a second, third, or etc page load don't render. Here's my loop: 10 stories per page, Adsense after the 4th one. <?php $count = 0; ?> <?php if ( have_posts() ) : ?> <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?> <?php $count++; ?> <div class="card"> <div class="title"> <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title(); ?>"><span><?php the_title(); ?></span></a> </div> </div> <?php if ($count == 4) : ?> <div class="card"> <!-- ADSENSE CODE HERE (Straight from Google Adsense Panel, no tweaks.) --> </div> <?php endif; ?> As for my jQuery script, here's how that looks: $.ajax({ url: nextPageLink, type: 'GET', success: function(data) { $(data).find('#reviews .card').appendTo('#reviews'); }, error: function(xhr, status, error) { $('.loadination').addClass('hidden'); } }); Keep in mind, I just simplified my code to give you guys an example. The code above was just the essentials. All the loading stuff works perfectly. Images, text, links, etc all load just fine. However, the Google Adsense unit doesn't. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

  • In a C++ template, is it allowed to return an object with spesific type parameters?

    - by nieldw
When I've got a template with certain type parameters, is it allowed for a function to return an object of this same template, but with different types? In other words, is the following allowed? template<class edgeDecor, class vertexDecor, bool dir> Graph<edgeDecor, int, dir> Graph<edgeDecor,vertexDecor,dir>::Dijkstra(vertex s, bool print = false) const { /* Construct new Graph with apropriate decorators */ Graph<edgeDecor, int, dir> span = new Graph<edgeDecor,int,dir>(); /* ... */ return span; }; If this is not allowed, how can I accomplish the same kind of thing?

  • Scala puts precedence on implicit conversion over "natural" operations... Why? Is this a bug? Or am

    - by Alex R
This simple test, of course, works as expected: scala var b = 2 b: Int = 2 scala b += 1 scala b res3: Int = 3 Now I bring this into scope: class A(var x: Int) { def +=(y:Int) { this.x += y } } implicit def int2A(i:Int) : A = new A(i) I'm defining a new class and a += operation on it. I never expected this would affect the way my regular Ints behave. But it does: scala var b:Int = 0 b: Int = 0 scala b += 1 scala b res29: Int = 0 scala b += 2 scala b res31: Int = 0 Scala seems to prefer the implicit conversion over the natural += that is already defined to Ints. That leads to several questions... Why? Is this a bug? Is it by design? Is there a work-around (other than not using "+=")? Thanks

  • TDD, Unit Test and architectural changes

    - by Leandro
I'm writing an RPC middleware in C++. I have a class named RPCClientProxy that contains a socket client inside: class RPCClientProxy { ... private: Socket* pSocket; ... } The constructor: RPCClientProxy::RPCClientProxy(host, port) { pSocket = new Socket(host, port); } As you can see, I don't need to tell the user that I have a socket inside. Although, to make unit tests for my proxies it would be necessary to create mocks for sockets and pass them to the proxies, and to do so I must use a setter or pass a factory to the sockets in the proxies's constructors. My question: According to TDD, is it acceptable to do it ONLY because the tests? As you can see, these changes would change the way the library is used by a programmer.

  • get foreign key objects in a single query - Django

    - by John
Hi I have 2 models in my django code: class ModelA(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=255) description = models.CharField(max_length=255) created_by = models.ForeignKey(User) class ModelB(models.Model): category = models.CharField(max_length=255) modela_link = models.ForeignKey(ModelA, 'modelb_link') functions = models.CharField(max_length=255) created_by = models.ForeignKey(User) Say ModelA has 100 records, all of which may or may not have links to ModelB Now say I want to get a list of every ModelA record along with the data from ModelB I would do: list_a = ModelA.objects.all() Then to get the data for ModelB I would have to do for i in list_a: i.additional_data = i.modelb_link.all() However this runs a query on every instance of i. Thus making 101 queries to run. Is there any way of running this all in just 1 query. Or at least less than the 101 queries. I've tried putting in ModelA.objects.select_related().all() but this didn't seem to have any effect. Thanks

  • Bring opera window to front!

    - by serhiyiv
Hi! Could you please help me to figure out how to bring Opera's window to front, using class name?! I use the following procedure to bring other applications to front and it works fine. I need to use only a class name and not window's caption. If I use window caption instead, the procedure works. Here is the procedure: procedure SwitchToThisWindow(h1: hWnd; x: bool); stdcall; external user32 Name 'SwitchToThisWindow'; procedure Opera; var Wnd:HWND; begin Wnd:= FindWindow(PChar('OpWindow'),nil); if (Wnd < 0) then SwitchToThisWindow(Wnd, True) ; ////////////////////////////////////////////////////

  • Passing derived objects in a constructure

    - by Clarence Klopfstein
This is a bit of a convoluted question, hopefully I can make it clear. I am finding that this may not be possible, but am trying to see if anybody has a solution. I have four classes, two are core classes and two are those core classes extended: extUser Extends coreUser extSecurity Extends coreSecurity In the constructor for coreUser you have this: public coreUser(string id, ref coreSecurity cs) When trying to extend coreUser you would have this: public extUser(string id ref extSecurity es) : base(id, ref es) This fails because es is of type, extSecurity and the base class expects a type of coreSecurity. I've not found anyway to cast this to allow for me to override this base class in C#. In VB it works just fine. Ideas?

  • C#. Binding object to object

    - by w1z
Hello all, I develop the part of app functionality. I have the databinding object 'A' and another object 'B'. public class SomeProxy { public SomeProxy(BindingSource A) { var b = new B(); } } public class B { public int SomePropertyFromA{get;set;} //Some autocalculated propeties, that are based on SomePropertyFromA //I want to reculculate them, when the SomePropertyFromA will be changed } 'B' object culculates some values, based on the property 'a' of the 'A' object. I want to bind property in object 'B' to the same property 'a' in 'A'. It's need to handle on changes of the 'a' property, because some UI controls are binded to 'B'-s properties. How can I do this? Sorry for some oddness. Thanks

  • How to access the service instance from host object in WCF?

    - by user1048677
I am trying to incarnate some sort of ad hoc WCF service. I already managed to launch it and make it call its own web methods as some other guy's methods. The issue that I am facing is instance management. I have set [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.Single)] so it now has a global instance with the same properties for all clients. But besides that I need it to call other services of its kind while listening to incoming requests from clients (similar crazy services). While debugging I noticed that the ServiceHost's constructor calls the constructor of the service class. So, I assumed it has access to the global instance of this class and I need to find a way to call methods of this instance. Please don't ask what I have been smoking, I just have to make it ad hoc.

  • Release variable and assigning it again

    - by David Gonrab
What is the preferred and/or correct way to release an NSMutableString (or any other class for that matter) instance and assign a new instance to the same variable in Objective-C on the iPhone? Currently I'm using [current release]; current = [NSMutableString new]; but I understand that the following works, too. NSMutableString *new = [NSMutableString new]; [current release]; current = [new retain]; [new release]; The variable current is declared in the interface definition of my class and gets released in dealloc.

  • How do I check that an entity is unreferenced in JPA?

    - by Martin
I have the following model @Entity class Element { @Id int id; @Version int version; @ManyToOne Type type; } @Entity class Type { @Id int id; @Version int version; @OneToMany(mappedBy="type") Collection<Element> elements; @Basic(optional=false) boolean disabled; } and would like to allow Type.disabled = true only if Type.elements is empty. Is there a way to do it atomically? I would like to prevent an insertion of an Element in a transaction while the corresponding Type is being disabled by an other transaction.

  • Composite pattern in C++ problem

    - by annouk
Hello! I have to work with an application in C++ similar to a phone book: the class Agenda with an STL list of Contacts.Regarding the contacts hierarchy, there is a base-class named Contact(an abstract one),and the derived classes Friend and Acquaintance(the types of contact). These classes have, for instance, a virtual method called getName, which returns the name of the contact. Now I must implement the Composite pattern by adding another type of contact,Company(being derived from Contact),which also contains a collection of Contacts(an STL list as well),that can be either of the "leaf" type(Friends or Acquaintances),or they can be Companies as well. Therefore,Company is the Compound type. The question is: how and where can I implement an STL find_if to search the contact with a given name(via getName function or suggest me smth else) both among the "leaf"-type Contact and inside the Company collection? In other words, how do I traverse the tree in order to find possible matches there too, using an uniform function definition? I hope I was pretty clear...
