  Couple of months ago,I developed a simple app using YII,one of the feature was to upload file. The feature was working well in my dev machine,couple of days ago client found the file upload feature is not working in his server since deployment. And after that I test my dev machine that was not working too. • Disable Dojo validation on certain fields

  I would like to disable client side validation on certain fields in my user form. Currently I have two sets of fields that are displayed depending on the value of a previous drop down list. i.e. if the drop down list is set to value "A" 1 new field appears in the form. If the drop down list is set to value "B" 3 new fields appear in the form (mutually exclusive from the new form field when "A" is selected). Currently my Dojo client side validation fails because the fields that are not shown to the user (and thus no data can be inserted into those fields) fails to validate. Currently I determined that I can set the "validate" attribute to return true like so: <input type="text" id="companycity" name="companycity" class="textinput" value="<?php echo set_value('companycity'); ?>" style="<?php if(isset($errorData['companycity'])){echo $errorData['companycity'];} ?>" dojotype="dijit.form.ValidationTextBox" required="true" trim="true" validate='return true'" regexp="([a-zA-Z]{1,25})" invalidMessage="Invalid value. Must be between 1 and 25 alphabetic characters long."> This fixes my issue for hidden fields. However this now means that no validation is performed when this field becomes visible to the user (i.e. the validate attribute is still set to return true). I have tried removing the validate property when a field is displayed to the user like so: dijit.byId('companycode').attr('validate',''); This just set the attribute to nothing. This however gives errors in firebug saying validate method not found, so I take that to mean I did not remove this attribute correctly or removing this attribute is not the appropriate way to do this. I have also looked at overriding the validator method here but this doesnt seem like what I want either. I do not want to have to rewrite all the validation methods in place of dojo's. I just want dojo not to validate if the field is not visible to the user. Thanks for any advice or help.

• Upgrading Redmine, activerecord-mysql2-adapter not recognized

  For upgrading Redmine from 1.0.1 to 2.1.2, I need to execute the command: rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production However, doing so produces the following error: rake aborted! Please install the mysql2 adapter: gem install activerecord-mysql2-adapter (mysql2 is not part of the bundle. Add it to Gemfile.) I have ran gem install activerecord-mysql2-adapter, but I still get the same error when I try to run the rake ... command. How do I get my RoR app to recognize that I have the mysql2 adapter installed already? or Is there something wrong with my activerecord-mysql2-adapter installation? • IIS 7.5 Manager crashes when adding a custom error page

  I'm running a local IIS 7.5 server in Win 7 Pro, and I'm trying to add a custom error page for 403 responses. When I click OK to add a custom error page for my site, IIS Manager just vanishes. The server is still running, and I can re-start IIS Manager, but the new page has not been saved. I've also tried adding it directly to web.config, but that just gives me The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Edit: The event log implies that an invalid character in the path caused the crash, but It occured even when I copied & pasted a path from a valid entry. • Is it worthwhile to block malicious crawlers via iptables?

  I periodically check my server logs and I notice a lot of crawlers search for the location of phpmyadmin, zencart, roundcube, administrator sections and other sensitive data. Then there are also crawlers under the name "Morfeus Fucking Scanner" or "Morfeus Strikes Again" searching for vulnerabilities in my PHP scripts and crawlers that perform strange (XSS?) GET requests such as: GET /static/)self.html(selector?jQuery( GET /static/]||!jQuery.support.htmlSerialize&&[1, GET /static/);display=elem.css( GET /static/.*. GET /static/);jQuery.removeData(elem, Until now I've always been storing these IPs manually to block them using iptables. But as these requests are only performed a maximum number of times from the same IP, I'm having my doubts if it does provide any advantage security related by blocking them. I'd like to know if it does anyone any good to block these crawlers in the firewall, and if so if there's a (not too complex) way of doing this automatically. And if it's wasted effort, maybe because these requests come from from new IPs after a while, if anyone can elaborate on this and maybe provide suggestion for more efficient ways of denying/restricting malicious crawler access. • VSFTPD - FTP over TLS - Upload stops after exactly 82k?

  I installed a VSFTP daemon on a CentOS server, using a RSA certificate for logging in using explicit TLS. Now, I cannot upload more than 82k. With files under that limit, there is no problem. The FTP works like a charm. But as soon as a file reaches 82k with FileZilla (81,952 bytes to be exact), the transfer will stop, and the FTP client hangs until time out is reached. FTP client console: 15:10:21 Command: STOR jquery-1.7.2.min.js 15:10:21 Response: 150 Ok to send data. 15:11:21 Error: Connection timed out 15:11:21 Error: File transfer failed after transferring 82 KB in 60 seconds /var/log/vsftpd.log FTP command: Client "x.x.x.x", "STOR jquery-1.7.2.min.js" FTP response: Client "x.x.x.x", "150 Ok to send data." • Screen Scraping Twitter

  I got an email today asking for help to scrape Twitter. In particular, to be able to login. So I am going to show everyone, NOT to encourage anyone to violate Twitters terms of use but as an educational blog post about how PHP and cURL can be used to post variables and store cookies. Again, I am using the cScrape class I wrote, which you can download. Step 1 First go to twitter.com and look at the source code of the login to get the form field names and the form post location. You will see that the form posts to https://twitter.com/session and the username and password fields are session[username_or_email] and session[password] respectively. Step 2 Now you are ready to login. So using the fetch function in the Scrape class you create an associative array to contain the form values you want to post. The other thing you will need to do is uncomment the lines for CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE and CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR. Cookies will be required to stay logged in and scrape around. The paths to the cookie files need to be writable by your app. Also you will need to uncomment the line about CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION. $data = array('session[username_or_email]' => "bradino", 'session[password]' => "secret"); $scrape->fetch('https://twitter.com/sessions',$data); Step 1.5 Oops that didn't work. All I got back was 403 Forbidden: The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it. Ahhh I see another variable called authenticity_token I bet Twitter was looking for that. So let's back up and first hit twitter.com to get the authenticity_token variable, and then make the login post request with that variable included in our array of parameters. $scrape->fetch('https://twitter.com'); $data = array('session[username_or_email]' => "bradino", 'session[password]' => "secret"); $data['authenticity_token'] = $scrape->fetchBetween('name="authenticity_token" type="hidden" value="','"',$scrape->result); $scrape->fetch('https://twitter.com/sessions',$data); echo $scrape->result; So that's basically it. Now you are logged in and can scrape around and request other pages as you normally would. Sorry it wasn't a longer post. I really do enjoy this kind of stuff so if anyone has a request, hit me up. Errors? 1) Make sure that you are properly parsing the token variable 2) Make sure that you uncommented the lines about CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE and CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR, those options need to be enabled and be sure the path set is writable by your application 3) Make sure that the path to the cookie file is writable and that it is getting data written to it 4) If you get a message about being redirected you need to uncomment the line about CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, that option needs to be enabled true

• ASP.NET Performance tip- Combine multiple script file into one request with script manager

  We all need java script for our web application and we storing our JavaScript code in .js files. Now If we have more then .js file then our browser will create a new request for each .js file. Which is a little overhead in terms of performance. If you have very big enterprise application you will have so much over head for this. Asp.net Script Manager provides a feature to combine multiple JavaScript into one request but you must remember that this feature will be available only with .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 or higher versions.  Let’s take a simple example. • Securing Flexfield Value Sets in EBS 12.2

  Release 12.2 includes a new feature: flexfield value set security. This new feature gives you additional options for ensuring that different administrators have non-overlapping responsibilities, which in turn provides checks and balances for sensitive activities.  Separation of Duties (SoD) is one of the key concepts of internal controls and is a requirement for many regulations including: Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) European Union Data Protection Directive. Its primary intent is to put barriers in place to prevent fraud or theft by an individual acting alone. Implementing Separation of Duties requires minimizing the possibility that users could modify data across application functions where the users should not normally have access. For flexfields and report parameters in Oracle E-Business Suite, values in value sets can affect functionality such as the rollup of accounting data, job grades used at a company, and so on. Controlling access to the creation or modification of value set values can be an important piece of implementing Separation of Duties in an organization. New Flexfield Value Set Security feature Flexfield value set security allows system administrators to restrict users from viewing, adding or updating values in specific value sets. Value set security enables role-based separation of duties for key flexfields, descriptive flexfields, and report parameters. For example, you can set up value set security such that certain users can view or insert values for any value set used by the Accounting Flexfield but no other value sets, while other users can view and update values for value sets used for any flexfields in Oracle HRMS. You can also segregate access by Operating Unit as well as by role or responsibility.Value set security uses a combination of data security and role-based access control in Oracle User Management. Flexfield value set security provides a level of security that is different from the previously-existing and similarly-named features in Oracle E-Business Suite: Function security controls whether a user has access to a specific page or form, as well as what operations the user can do in that screen. Flexfield value security controls what values a user can enter into a flexfield segment or report parameter (by responsibility) during routine data entry in many transaction screens across Oracle E-Business Suite. Flexfield value set security (this feature, new in Release 12.2) controls who can view, insert, or update values for a particular value set (by flexfield, report, or value set) in the Segment Values form (FNDFFMSV). The effect of flexfield value set security is that a user of the Segment Values form will only be able to view those value sets for which the user has been granted access. Further, the user will be able to insert or update/disable values in that value set if the user has been granted privileges to do so.  Flexfield value set security affects independent, dependent, and certain table-validated value sets for flexfields and report parameters. Initial State of the Feature upon Upgrade Because this is a new security feature, it is turned on by default.  When you initially install or upgrade to Release 12.2.2, no users are allowed to view, insert or update any value set values (users may even think that their values are missing or invalid because they cannot see the values).  You must explicitly set up access for specific users by enabling appropriate grants and roles for those users.We recommend using flexfield value set security as part of a comprehensive Separation of Duties strategy. However, if you choose not to implement flexfield value set security upon upgrading to or installing Release 12.2, you can enable backwards compatibility--users can access any value sets if they have access to the Values form--after you upgrade. The feature does not affect day-to-day transactions that use flexfields.  However, you must either set up specific grants and roles or enable backwards compatibility before users can create new values or update or disable existing values.   What is a Data Connection Library in SharePoint Server 2010? A Data Connection Library in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 is a library that can contain two kinds of data connections: an Office Data Connection (ODC) file or a Universal Data Connection (UDC) file. Microsoft InfoPath 2010 uses data connections that comply with the Universal Data Connection (UDC) file schema and typically have either a *.udcx or *.xml file name extension. Data sources described by these data connections are stored on the server and can be used in standard form templates and browser-enabled form templates. How to create a SharePoint Server Data Connection Library? 1. Browse to a SharePoint Server 2010 site on which you have at least Design permissions. If you are on the root site, create a new site before you continue with the next step. 2. On the Site Actions menu, click More Options. 3. On the Create page, click Library under Filter By, and then click Data Connection Library. 4. On the right side of the Create page, type a name for the library, and then click the Create button. 5. Copy the URL of the new data connection library. How to create a new data connection file in InfoPath? 1. Open InfoPath Designer 2010, click Blank Form, and then click Design Form. 2. On the Data tab, click Data Connections, and then click Add. 3. In the Data Connection Wizard, click Create a new connection to, click Receive data, and then click Next. 4. Click the kind of data source that you are connecting to, such as Database, Web service, or SharePoint library or list, and then click Next. 5. Complete the remaining steps in the Data Connection Wizard to configure your data connection, and then click Finish to return to the Data Connections dialog box. 6. In the Data Connections dialog box, click Convert to Connection File. 7. In the Convert Data Connection dialog box, enter the URL of the data connection library that you previously copied (delete "Forms/AllItems.aspx" and anything following it from the URL), enter a name for the data connection file at the end of the URL, and then click OK. It will take a few moments to convert and save the data connection file to the library. 8. Confirm that the data connection was converted successfully by examining the Details section of the Data Connections dialog box while the name of the converted data connection is selected. 9. Browse to the SharePoint data connection library, click the drop-down next to the name of the data connection, click Approve/Reject, click Approved, and then click OK. • Where Have All the Ugly Forms Gone? Users and ADF Took Care Of It

  Sometimes I hear that our application demos are a bit too "cutsey" and that we never talk about with any user roles that have lots of data entry as a requirement. Some (no names) consider those old clunker forms, with the myriad rows of fields, to be super-productive for data clerks. We do have such roles covered in Oracle Fusion Applications for sure. But consider what is really the issue here: productivity. Check out how the Oracle Fusion Financials Applications User Experience team went about designing for productivity when receiving and entering invoice data, for example. See how Fusion Financials caters so well for input and control of data? Central to all this is knowing the users and how they work: what tasks do they need to perform, and when. Now and then, I see forms that weren't designed for end user activity at all. Instead, they were designed by developers or by the IT department around the database schema. Forms with literally dozens of fields on the same page, sometimes. Forms that give the impression there was only task involved, when there may have been several. At times, completing one of these huge forms accurately became so tedious that, under pressure, it made more sense for the user to complete it quickly as possible and then let somebody else check it for accuracy and fill in the gaps from data emailed along in spreadsheet form. Data accuracy is critical in our business. Not good. Not efficient. Not productive. So here are a few basics on forms design for data entry-type user roles. A great place for developers to start exploring what is possible with forms layout is the Rich Client User Experience (RCUX) guidance on Form Layout, using ADF components. User-Centered Forms Design Considerations The starting point--something you must always keep in mind with your own design--is design for the end user. Find a representative end user, and keep that user engaged throughout the design, deployment, and test process. Consider these points in user testing those forms: Are there automated or technical solutions to entering the data that avoid manual input in the first place? For example, imports, uploads, OCR, whatever. Some day we will be able to tell Siri to do it, but leave that for now. Design your form to reflect the task involved (i.e., the business process) and not the database schema. On the form, group like fields together, logically. Eliminate duplicate data entry or prepopulate from previous data entry. Allow users to complete fields in the order they wish (i.e., no interdependency). Allow for tabbing between fields (keyboard is faster than mouse), so know how the browser supports this (see that RCUX guideline). Allow for final validation at the page level not at field-level entry. Way better for heads-down users. For example, ADF messages allow you to see a list of all validation errors on a page on a final submit or navigation action and to easily navigate to the point of error. Better still, be error tolerant. Allow users to enter data in formats they comfortable with. Bind any relevant user preference setting to the input format allowed (for example, the locale date format). Explore what data entry conversion can do for you automatically too (see the ADF converter demos, convenience patterns can also be written). Only ask for data input when it's needed. Get rid of, or hide optional fields. Cut down on the number of mandatory fields, and mark them clearly (use a *). Clearly label the fields in plain language. I am sure you may have a few more tips on forms design for data entry users. Remember the user before finding the comments.

• Notes - Part II - Play with JavaFX

  Open the project from last lesson Double click on NotesUI.fmxl, this will open the JavaFX Scene Builder On the left side you have a area called Hierarchy, from there press Del or Shift+Backspace on Mac to delete the Button and the Label. You'll receive a warning, that some components have been assigned an fx:id, click Delete as we don't need them anymore. Resize the AnchorPane to have enough room for our design, eg. 820x550px From the top left pick the Container called Accordion and drag over the AnchorPane design Chose then from Controls a List View and drag inside the Accordion. You'll notice that by default the Accordion has 2 TitledPane, and you can switch between them by clicking on their name. I'll let you the pleasure to do the rest in order to get the following result  Here is the list of objects used Save it and then return to NetBeans Run the application and it should be run without any issue. If you click on buttons they all are functional, but nothing happens as we didn't link them with any action. We'll see this in the next episode. Now, let's play a little bit with the application and try to resize it… Have you notice the behavior? If the form is too small, some objects aren't visible, if it is too large there is too much space . That's for sure something that your users won't like and you as a programmer have to care about this. From NetBeans double click NotesUI.fmxl so to return back to JavaFX Scene Builder Select the TextField from bottom left of Notes, the one where I put the text Category and then from the right part of JavaFX Scene Builder you'll notice a panel called Inspector. Chose Layout and then click on the dotted lines from left and bottom of the square, like you see in the below image This will make the textfield to have always the same distance from left and bottom no matter the size of the form. Save and run the application. Note that whenever the form is changing the Height, the Category TextField has the same distance from the bottom. Select Accordion and do the same steps but also check the top dotted line, because we want the Accordion to have the same height as the main form has. I'll let you the pleasure to do the same for the rest of components. It's very important to design an application that can be resize by user and in the same time, all the buttons are on place. Last step is to make sure our application is not getting smaller then a certain size, as this will hide parts of our layout. So select the AnchorPane and from Inspector go to Layout and note down the Width and Height. Go back to NetBeans and open the file Main.java and add the following code just after stage.setScene(scene); (around line 26) stage.setMinWidth(820); stage.setMinHeight(550); Use your own width and height. This will prevent user to reduce the width or height of your application to a value that will hide parts of your layout. • How do you pass a date value to BIRT report via querystring

  Hi, I have made a static html page (called start.jsp) containing a form where the user select 2 date ranges and this form has date pickers for those text boxes. When the user submits the form, it should take them to the BIRT report that I have designed. It SHOULD pass the 2 parameters that my report needs (start date and end date). Here is the querystring that gets appended to the URL birt-viewer/run__report=Business_Activity_Monitoring.rptdesign &FilterStartDate=2000-01-01&FilterEndDate=2009-01-01 I get an invalid date error: org.eclipse.birt.report.exception.ViewerValidationException: The parameter "FilterStartDate" is invalid. The value "06-08-2010" is invalid with the type "dateTime". How is it that if I remove the querystring completely, then BIRT will prompt me to enter the start date and end date (screenshot attached). I enter the exact same data that the form tries to send and it works!? This proves that my date string is correctly formatted but yet it will not accept them if they are sent to the BIRT report via the querystring? Seems like it has a problem with the fact that its a string in the first place. I have correctly set up these report parameters in my BIRT report. I have also tried changing them by specifying the "Format as" value to be a "custom" YYYY-MM-dd but this didnt work. Is it even possible to send date parameters to a birt report via querystring? Im guessing the solution will involve converting these strings to dates within the birt report's "script" tab. but I dont know how to access querystring variables from here or how to set report parameter variables. • WPF: Hide grid row

  Hi All, I have a simple WPF form with a <Grid> declared on the Form. In this Grid I then have a bunch of Rows: <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" MinHeight="30" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" Name="rowToHide"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" MinHeight="30" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> So basically the row with the name "rowToHide" has a few input fields in it, and now I want to hide this row as I don't need these fields. Its simple enough to just set all items in the Row to Visibility = Hidden, but the Row still takes up space in the Grid. So need to do something like setting Height = 0 or something. But that didn't seem to work. You can think of it like this: You have a form, in there we have a drop down saying "Payment Type", and if the person selects "Cash", then hide the row containing the Card details. And it isn't an option to start the form with this hidden already. Thanks everyone!

  Hi, I am looking at ASP.NET MVC2 and trying to post a complex object using the new EditorFor syntax. I have a FraudDto object that has a FraudCategory child object and I want to set this object from the values that are posted from the form. Posting a simple object is not a problem but I am struggling with how to handle complex objects with child objects. I have the following parent FraudDto object whcih I am binding to on the form: public class FraudDto { public FraudCategoryDto FraudCategory { get; set; } public List<FraudCategoryDto> FraudCategories { get; private set; } public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> FraudCategoryList { get { return FraudCategories.Select(t => new SelectListItem { Text = t.Name, Value = t.Id.ToString() }); } The child FraudCategoryDto object looks like this: public class FraudCategoryDto { public int Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } On the form, I have the following code where I want to bind the FraudCategoryDto to the dropdown. • ASP.NET MVC DropDownList SelectedValue works on Edit action, but not Create action

  I have the following code in my controller (for Edit and Create): model.Templates = new SelectList(PageManagementService.PageTemplateFetchList(), "PageId", "Title", 213); the "213" is an Id for one of the pages - just using it for testing. And this is in my view (for Edit and Create): <%= this.Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Page.TemplateId, this.Model.Templates)%> <%= this.Model.Templates.SelectedValue %> When I go to the Create form, I see the dropdown list, but the tag with value="213" is not selected. I even output the SelectedValue to make sure it's 213 - and I see 213. When I go to the Edit form, I see the dropdown list, and the tag with value="213" is selected. On the Create form, none of the tags have a "selected" attribute. On the Edit form, the tag with value="213" has the "selected" attribute. Am I missing something? What could be causing this? Anyone see this behavior before?
