• List of existing Android Virtual Devices empty

- by sunpech
I'm new to Android development and I'm currently going through some tutorials. When I setup a new Android Project in Eclipse, and select Windows - Android SDK and AVD Manager, in Virtual Devices, the list of existing Android Virtual Devices is empty. Is it supposed to be? From the pictures in the tutorial, it's pre-populated. Can I download these AVDs from somewhere, am I missing something here? Also, I'm developing this on my Macbook Pro.

• Django ForeignKey created empty?

- by Scott Willman
This seems very basic and I must be missing something, but here goes anyways... With two models like so: class School(models.Model): name = models.CharField("Official School Name", max_length=128) address = models.TextField("Address of the School", max_length=256) mascot = models.CharField("Name of the School Mascot", max_length=128) class StudentProfile(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) school = models.ForeignKey(School) If the student gets created before the school, how do I give 'school' a default empty value? Is it blank or null or what? Thanks!

• Web pages show empty band across the top

- by Gerry
In Chrome, site http://www.helpinghandspeople.com has a 16px empty band (background colour shows) across the top of the page. It's not supposed to be there, but I can't figure out how to make it go away. In Firefox, the home page shows fine, but login and a few other pages show a 24px band. Viewing source and running inspect element are not helpful. Does anyone have a suggestion where to look? Thanks Gerry

• ASP.net Literal or Page altering HTML string, causing formatting issues

- by Jon
We have a service that generates a report (using word templates and a 3rd party library), and then returns a string in HTML. While this HTML isn't great - its formatted correctly in this string. We want this HTML to show up on a page - format intact. What we currently have done is set an ASP.net Literal's text element to this string. While this works, I have noticed that it has reformatted the HTML string slightly. For the most part, it looks like it generated a bunch of new CSS classes, and a new style element in the HTML. This HTML does not exist in the string thats being returned. I could filter all of this back out, but wonder if there is a better way. I assume that the Page itself is altering something. What is the best way to display this raw HTML back to the user? I can't directly use a Response.Write(string), because this page does have a few other controls on it.

• C# String Operator Overloading

- by ScottSEA
G'Day Mates - What is the right way (excluding the argument of whether it is advisable) to overload the string operators <, , <= and = ? I've tried it five ways to Sunday and I get various errors - my best shot was declaring a partial class and overloading from there, but it won't work for some reason. namespace System { public partial class String { public static Boolean operator <(String a, String b) { return a.CompareTo(b) < 0; } public static Boolean operator >(String a, String b) { return a.CompareTo(b) > 0; } } }

• Empty URL In SiteMapNode

- by Kezzer
I've got a SiteMap with blank URL attributes in each siteMapNode. Anyone know how to render them if the URL is blank? I'm doing a foreach against the SiteMap.CurrentNode and it doesn't retrieve siteMapNode elements that have empty URL attributes, but I do need to render them (just without a URL). Any ideas?

• Python: Elegant way to check if at least one regex in list matches a string

- by houbysoft
Hi. I have a list of regexes in python, and a string. Is there an elegant way to check if the at least one regex in the list matches the string? By elegant, I mean something better than simply looping through all of the regexes and checking them against the string and stopping if a match is found. Basically, I had this code: list = ['something','another','thing','hello'] string = 'hi' if string in list: pass # do something else: pass # do something else Now I would like to have some regular expressions in the list, rather than just strings, and I am wondering if there is an elegant solution to check for a match to replace if string in list:. Thanks in advance.

• Convert CString to string (VC6)

- by Yan Cheng CHEOK
I want to convert CString to string. (Yup. I know what am I doing. I know the returned string will be incorrect, if CString value range is outside ANSI, but That's Is OK!) The following code will work under VC2008. std::string Utils::CString2String(const CString& cString) { // Convert a TCHAR string to a LPCSTR CT2CA pszConvertedAnsiString (cString); // construct a std::string using the LPCSTR input std::string strStd (pszConvertedAnsiString); return strStd; } But VC6 doesn't have CT2CA macro. How I can make the code to work as well in both VC6 and VC2008?

• String or binary data would be truncated.

- by Derek Dieter
This error message is relatively straight forward. The way it normally happens is when you are trying to insert data from a table that contains values that have larger data lengths than the table you are trying to insert into. An example of this would be trying to insert data from a permanent table, into [...]

• Convert byte array to understandable String

- by Ender
I have a program that handles byte arrays in Java, and now I would like to write this into a XML file. However, I am unsure as to how I can convert the following byte array into a sensible String to write to a file. Assuming that it was Unicode characters I attempted the following code: String temp = new String(encodedBytes, "UTF-8"); Only to have the debugger show that the encodedBytes contain " ^-m/ufffd IA". The String should contain a hash in alphanumerical format. How would I turn the above String into a sensible String for output?

• Replace whitespaces using PHP preg_replace function ignoring quoted strings

- by Saiful
Look at the following string: SELECT column1 , column2, column3 FROM table1 WHERE column1 = 'text, "FROM" \'from\\\' x' AND column2 = "sample text 'where' "where" " AND ( column3 = 5 ) I need to escape unnecessary white space characters from the string like: removing white space from beginning and ending position of , ( ) etc removing newline (
) and tabs ( ) But one thing. The remove process could not remove white spaces from the quoted string like: 'text, "FROM" \'from\\' x' "sample text 'where' "where" " etc. i need to use the PHP function: preg_replace($pattern, $replacement, $string); So what will be the value of $pattern and $replacement where the value of $string is the given SQL.

• CoreData NSFetchedResultsController Empty Section Display

- by user280390
Hello I would like to show a fixed number of sections in a table view with a Fetched Results Controller as the data source. If you image the contacts app where sections organised by the alphabet, it will not have a header for B if there are no contacts in that section, so the section headers you see are A then C. I would like to display a section header in my table (for B), but without any rows. an empty section in effect. Can NSFetchedResultsController do this for me?

• How to split a string with negative numbers using ActionScript 3.0

- by inzombiak
I'm having trouble loading my level. I'm using Ogmo to create my level then I import it. I have no problem converting 0's and 1's into an Array, but I can't figure out how to do the same for -1's. It separates the "-" and the "1". Any help would be great. I've posted my code and the XML files below levelXML = new XML(e.target.data); playerX = int(levelXML.Entities.Player.@x); playerY = int(levelXML.Entities.Player.@y); levelGrid = levelXML.Grid; levelGrid = levelGrid.split("
").join(""); levelTiles = levelXML.Tiles; levelTiles = levelTiles.split("
").join(""); levelTiles = levelTiles.split(",").join(""); tileArray = levelTiles.split(""); gridArray = levelGrid.split(""); for(i = 0; i <= 34; i++) { levelArray[i] = new Array(); for(j = 0; j <= 34; j++) { if(tileArray[j*35 + i] == 0) { gridArray[j*35+i] = -1; } var currentSymbol = gridArray[j*35+i]; levelArray[i][j] = currentSymbol; if(gridArray[j*35 + i] == 1) { wall = new Wall; addChild(wall); wall.x = i*20 + 10; wall.y = j*20 + 10; } else if(gridArray[j*35 + i] == -1) { pellet = new Pellet; addChild(pellet); pellet.x = i*20 + 10; pellet.y = j*20 + 10; } } } I know the code is very dirty, but I needed a quick fix.
