  Core issue : http://jsfiddle.net/pipip/P46Xg/ I have a div container with a few paragraphs of text, and inside one of these paragraphs is the following anchor <a id="stop" /> The container is set to overflow:hidden Is it possible with javascript / JQuery to set the height of the container so that the bottom of the container stops exactly at or below the anchor? Added Depth & Background : http://jsfiddle.net/pipip/yj9dB/ This would be used for a modified JQuery Slider. Where someone using a CMS could type [readmore] anywhere into the Content field, which would be replaced by the above anchor via PHP. This way they would be easily able to control where the Read More break appears within the container. In the associated example I am hard-coding the height to 75px, although what I want is for the height to be dependent on the location of the anchor id="stop" in the text. Thanks.   I need to control a program by sending commands in utf-8 encoding to its standard input. For this I run the program using subprocess.Popen(): proc = Popen("myexecutable.exe", shell=True, stdin=PIPE, stdout=PIPE, stderr=PIPE) proc.stdin.write(u'ééé'.encode('utf_8')) If I run this from a cygwin utf-8 console, it works. If I run it from a windows console (encoding ='cp1252') this doesn't work. Is there a way to make this work without having to install a cygwin utf-8 console on each computer I want it to run from ? (NB: I don't need to output anything to console)

  I'm working on a programming assignment, and I'm trying to make this button take the values from two textboxes, and calculate the new location for the form window. Would I use an if...else statement to control the acceptable values?

  I'm looking for a way to write an SQL statement in C# targeting different providers. A typical example of SQL statements differentiating is the LIMIT in PostgreSQL vs. TOP in MSSQL. Is the only way to solve SQL-syntax like the two above to write if-statements depending on which provider the user selects or using try catch statements as flow control (LIMIT didn't work, I'll try TOP instead)? I've seen the LINQ Take method, but I'm wondering if one can do this without LINQ? In other words, does C# have some generic SQL Provider class that I have failed to find that can be used?

  I have a textbox in a asp.net update control. When I click a button on the webpage, the value of this textbox got modified. And I want to use javascript to get the modified value. The code I use was: var kmlString = document.getElementById('<%=TextBox1.ClientID%>').getAttribute("value"); It only got the original value of my textbox. I am wondering how can I get the latest value of the textbox through javascript. The browsers I intent to use is Firefox and Safari. So it would be great if the script can work for both browsers. • When open-sourcing a live Rails app, is it dangerous to leave the session key secret in source contr

  I've got a Rails app that's been running live for some time, and I'm planning to open source it in the near future. I'm wondering how dangerous it is to leave the session key store secret in source control while the app is live. If it's dangerous, how do people usually handle this problem? I'd guess that it's easiest to just move the string to a text file that's ignored by the SCM, and read it in later. Just for clarity, I'm talking about this: # Your secret key for verifying cookie session data integrity. # If you change this key, all old sessions will become invalid! # Make sure the secret is at least 30 characters and all random, # no regular words or you'll be exposed to dictionary attacks.   Its a two part question. How do i use SQL Server 2008? With Visual Studios? I started up a dummy project and with server explorer i tried with create new sql server database and add connection using my computer name (it came from a dropdown) as the server location. When i tried to create the database 'TestDB1' i got an error. I dont understand why. Its a fresh install and i have restarted the comp a few times since then. I havent messed with visual studios or the servers or even the control options to disable anything that would have been automatic. So whats with this? -edit- My goals are 1) create a database. 2) Be able to see all the database that exist on the server 3) execute sql queries in the ide 4) be able to browse tables. I dont need all of these but as many possible would be nice.

  I know I can create a plot with line and dots using the type = "o" argument in the plot command. I would like some more control over this -- I want to be able to draw the "o" as full dots, with black border and fill-in color of my choice, of customized size and of a different color than the line. Same for the line, I want to make it thicker, and of my choice of color. How would I go on about doing that? What I found until now is just a plain plot(y, type= "o") which is too poor for my needs. I am not interested in using ggplot, but instead use the internal plot library of R. Any help appreciated.

Now the site gets centered on the smaller screen and gets equaly pushet to left and right. So lets say, our screen is 600px wide: 200px are left 600px are on screen 200px are right You can scroll to the right, but the pixels on the left are unreachable... My company has a DSL 2mb connection. My main problem is latency, in the morning its good but after that its gets really bad. • Setting up Mono/ASP.NET 4.0 on Apache2/Ubuntu: Virtual hosts?

  I'm attempting to setup Mono/ASP.NET 4.0 on my Apache server (which is running on Ubuntu). Thus far, I've been following a few tutorials/scripts supplied here, and here. As of now: Apache 2.2 is installed (accessible via 'localhost') Mono 2.10.5 is installed However, I'm struggling to configure Apache correctly... apparently the Virtual Host setting isn't doing its job and invoking the mod_mono plugin, nor is it even pulling source from the proper directory. While the Virtual Host setting points to '\srv\www\localhost', it clearly is pulling content instead from 'var/www/', which I've found is the default DocumentRoot for virtual hosts. I can confirm: "/opt/mono-2.10/bin/mod-mono-server4" exists. Virtual hosts file is being read, since undoing the comment in the main httpd.conf changed the root directory from 'htdocs' to 'var/www/' The Mono installation is at least semi-capable of running ASP 4.0, as evidenced by running XSP, navigating to 0.0.0.0:8080/ and getting an ASP.NET style error page with "Mono ASP 4.0.x" at the bottom. Can anyone point out how to fix these configurations and get Mono linked up with Apache?   Hello, my name is Abdulla and I'm from Kuwait. Sorry for my question as I know its not technically challenging. I'm facing some problems with my internet connection while gaming, I have DSL 2mb connection. My main problem is latency, in the morning its good but after that its gets really bad. My internet provider says there's nothing wrong and that everything is working perfectly. I tried to explain to them the latency issue but they say that as long as I'm getting the download speed there isn't anything I can do about it. I only want to know if this is true and that the company can't do anything before I change my internet provider, as I feel that the guys at the contact center might getting back to me without asking tech support. • Troubleshoot Perl module installation on Mac OS X

  I'm trying to install the Perl module Set::IntervalTree on Mac OS X. I recently installed it today on an Ubuntu box with no problem. I simply started cpan, entered install Set:IntervalTree, and it all worked out. However, the installation failed on Mac OS X--it spits out a huge list of compiler errors (below). How would I troubleshoot this. • Windows could not start Apache 2 on the local computer

  After installing PHP 5.3, Windows is unable to start Apache 2.2. Apache's error log is empty, no error message on startup: C:\Programme\Apache\bin>httpd -k start C:\Programme\Apache\bin>httpd -k stop The Apache2.2 service is not started. C:\Programme\Apache\bin>httpd -k config Reconfiguring the Apache2.2 service The Apache2.2 service is successfully installed. Testing httpd.conf.... Errors reported here must be corrected before the service can be started. I have no clue where to look for the cause. php5apache2_2.dll is copied to the Apache modules folder. The only hint I have so far is that startup fails as soon as a PHP module is enabled in the configuration. Is there a way to get more details out of the Apache startup process?
