  • ExecuteNonQuery: Connection property has not been initialized

    - by 20151012
    I get an error in my code: The error point at dbcom.ExecuteNonQuery();. • Array loading with doubles in C

    - by user2892120
    I am trying to load a 3x8 array of doubles but my code keeps outputting 0.00 for all of the values. The code should be outputting the array (same as the input) under the Read#1 Read#2 Read#3 lines, with the average under average. Here is my code: #include <stdio.h> double getAvg(double num1, double num2, double num3); int main() { int numJ,month,day,year,i,j; double arr[3][8]; scanf("%d %d %d %d",&numJ,&month,&day,&year); for (i = 0; i < 8; i++) { scanf("%f %f %f",&arr[i][0], &arr[i][1], &arr[i][2]); } printf("\nJob %d Date: %d/%d/%d",numJ,month,day,year); printf("\n\nLocation Read#1 Read#2 Read#3 Average"); for (j = 0; j < 8; j++) { printf("\n %d %.2f %.2f %.2f %.2f",j+1,arr[j][0],arr[j] [1],arr[j][2],getAvg(arr[j][0],arr[j][1],arr[j][2])); } return 0; } double getAvg(double num1, double num2, double num3) { double avg = (num1 + num2 + num3) / 3; return avg; } Input example: 157932 09 01 2013 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.36 0.27 0.23 0.18 0.16 0.26 0.27 0.00 0.34 0.24 0.00 0.31 0.16 0.33 0.36 0.29 0.36 0.00 0.21 0.36 0.00

  • unclear use of @property in window app using core data

    - by Matt
    Looking through a Window based application ive used to experiment with as a way of getting my head around core data, ive noticed that the appdelegate has the following code myAppDelegate.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import <CoreData/CoreData.h> @interface iCaptureFreeAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { NSManagedObjectModel *managedObjectModel; NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *persistentStoreCoordinator; UIWindow *window; UITabBarController *tabBarController; } myAppDelegate.m #import "myAppDelegate.h" @interface iCaptureFreeAppDelegate (PrivateCoreDataStack) @property (nonatomic, retain, readonly) NSManagedObjectModel *managedObjectModel; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; @property (nonatomic, retain, readonly) NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *persistentStoreCoordinator; @end @implementation iCaptureFreeAppDelegate @synthesize window, tabBarController; // code .... // - (NSManagedObjectContext *) managedObjectContext { } - (NSManagedObjectModel *)managedObjectModel { } - (NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *)persistentStoreCoordinator { } // etc..... i want to understand a few things about what this project is doing why the properties in the category declaration? (if i delete the privateCoreDataStack category everything still works...) why the properties appear to be linked with the methods in the implementation ... managedObjectContext {} etc why the members in the .h file have the same name as the properties and the methods why code completion lets me use dot '.' to access the members but then fails on compilation say it cant find a getter thanks !

  • How do I authenticate an ADO.NET Data Service?

    - by lsb
    Hi! I've created an ADO.Net Data Service hosted in a Azure worker role. I want to pass credentials from a simple console client to the service then validate them using a QueryInterceptor. Unfortunately, the credentials don't seem to be making it over the wire. The following is a simplified version of the code I'm using, starting with the DataService on the server: using System; using System.Data.Services; using System.Linq.Expressions; using System.ServiceModel; using System.Web; namespace Oslo.Worker { [ServiceBehavior(AddressFilterMode = AddressFilterMode.Any)] public class AdminService : DataService<OsloEntities> { public static void InitializeService( IDataServiceConfiguration config) { config.SetEntitySetAccessRule("*", EntitySetRights.All); config.SetServiceOperationAccessRule("*", ServiceOperationRights.All); } [QueryInterceptor("Pairs")] public Expression<Func<Pair, bool>> OnQueryPairs() { // This doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if (HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name != "ADMIN") throw new Exception("Ooops!"); return p => true; } } } Here's the AdminService I'm using to instantiate the AdminService in my Azure worker role: using System; using System.Data.Services; namespace Oslo.Worker { public class AdminHost : DataServiceHost { public AdminHost(Uri baseAddress) : base(typeof(AdminService), new Uri[] { baseAddress }) { } } } And finally, here's the client code. using System; using System.Data.Services.Client; using System.Net; using Oslo.Shared; namespace Oslo.ClientTest { public class AdminContext : DataServiceContext { public AdminContext(Uri serviceRoot, string userName, string password) : base(serviceRoot) { Credentials = new NetworkCredential(userName, password); } public DataServiceQuery<Order> Orders { get { return base.CreateQuery<Pair>("Orders"); } } } } I should mention that the code works great with the signal exception that the credentials are not being passed over the wire. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated! Thanks....

  • Problem: Movie Clip contains just one frame

    - by Doug
    I'm a newbie at Flash, so started playing with a pretty standard code sample: one layer contains a movie clip with a flying rectangle, another layer has a button to control it. All script code is in Main.as file. The rectangle was named square1 through the Property window. Here is the problem: the constructor for Main has a line: square1.stop(); to prevent clip from playing, but it doesn't help - it plays. I know the constructor fires, because it has trace("stuff") in it. The code does check that the stage has been created. What strange is that square1.currentFrame always returns 1, and square1.totalFrames returns 1 as well. The layer has 24 frames on the timeline. I tried a tween with just 2 keyframes, then converted whole tween into frames - same result. I mean, the thing is flying before my eyes, how can it be 1 frame??? I even added a listener: square1.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onFrameChange); The event fires all the time, i.e. the frames change, but currentFrame is still 1. Also, tried to name individual frames and use square1.gotoAndStop("begin") and stuff like that. Nothing helps. I am really stuck with this stupid problem.

  • Trying to condense javascript into for loop

    - by rod
    I've got the following code that I am trying to condense to a for loop but am having no luck: $("#motion1-sub1-1").hover( function () { $("#motion1-sub1-1 div").show(); }, function () { $("#motion1-sub1-1 div").hide(); } ); $("#motion1-sub1-2").hover( function () { $("#motion1-sub1-2 div").show(); }, function () { $("#motion1-sub1-2 div").hide(); } ); $("#motion1-sub1-3").hover( function () { $("#motion1-sub1-3 div").show(); }, function () { $("#motion1-sub1-3 div").hide(); } ); $("#motion1-sub1-4").hover( function () { $("#motion1-sub1-4 div").show(); }, function () { $("#motion1-sub1-4 div").hide(); } ); $("#motion1-sub1-5").hover( function () { $("#motion1-sub1-5 div").show(); }, function () { $("#motion1-sub1-5 div").hide(); } ); Here's the for loop code that have to condense the above code: for (var i = 1; i <= 5; i++) { $("motion1-sub1-" + i).hover( function () { $("motion1-sub1-" + i + "div").show(); }, function () { $("motion1-sub1-" + i + "div").hide(); } ); }

  • Validation for textfield is not working

    - by MaheshBabu
    Hi folks, I am using 4 Textfields in my application. I need to validate those textfields like,These 4 textfields Allow only o,1,....9 and . For that i use the code like this. - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string { static NSCharacterSet *charSet = nil; if(!charSet) { charSet = [[[NSCharacterSet characterSetWithCharactersInString:@"0123456789."] invertedSet] retain]; } NSRange location = [string rangeOfCharacterFromSet:charSet]; return (location.location == NSNotFound); And first textfield allows digits 10,second third and fourth textfields allows less than 100. For that my code is if (textField.tag == 1) { NSString *newString = [textField.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:string]; double homevaluedouble = [newString doubleValue]; return !(homevaluedouble > 10000000000); } if (textField.tag == 2) { NSString *newString = [textField.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:string]; double validate = [newString doubleValue]; return !(validate > 100); } if (textField.tag == 3) { NSString *newString = [textField.text stringByReplacingCharactersInRange:range withString:string]; double validate = [newString doubleValue]; return !(validate > 100); } I write this code in - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string { But textfields allows 0,1,..9 and . but digit limit is not working, if i remove 0,1,...9 then limit to textfield working. i am getting confuse with it. can any one pls help me,How can i resolve it. Thank u in advance.

  • accessing values in two dimensional arrays

    - by BrainLikeADullPencil
    In some code I'm trying to learn from, the Maze string below is turned into an array (code not shown for that) and saved in the instance variable @maze. The starting point of the Maze is represented by the letter 'A' in that Maze, which can be accessed at @maze[1][13]---row 1, column 13. However, the code I'm looking at uses @maze[1][13,1] to get the A, which you can see returns the same result in my console. If I do @maze[1][13,2], it returns the letter "A " with two blank spaces next to it, and so on. [13,3] returns "A " with three blank spaces. Does the 2 in [13,2] mean, "return two values starting at [1][13]? If so, why? Is this some feature of arrays or two dimensional arrays that I don't get? [20] pry(#<Maze>):1> @maze[1][13] => "A" [17] pry(#<Maze>):1> @maze[1][13,1] => "A" [18] pry(#<Maze>):1> @maze[1][13,2] => "A " [19] pry(#<Maze>):1> @maze[1][13,3] => "A " Maze String MAZE1 = %{##################################### # # # #A # # # # # # # # # ####### # ### # ####### # # # # # # # # # # # ##### # ################# # ####### # # # # # # # # # ##### ##### ### ### # ### # # # # # # # # # # # # B# # # # # # # # ##### ##### # # ### # # ####### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ### ### # # # # ##### # # # ##### # # # # # # # # #####################################}

  • Obtaining command line arguments in a QT application

    - by morpheous
    The following snippet is from a little app I wrote using the QT framework. The idea is that the app can be run in batch mode (i.e. called by a script) or can be run interactively. It is important therefore, that I am able to parse command line arguments in order to know which mode in which to run etc. [Edit] I am debugging using QTCreator 1.3.1 on Ubuntu Karmic. The arguments are passed in the normal way (i.e. by adding them via the 'Project' settings in the QTCreator IDE). When I run the app, it appears that the arguments are not being passed to the application. The code below, is a snippet of my main() function. int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { //Q_INIT_RESOURCE(application); try { QApplication the_app(argc, argv); //trying to get the arguments into a list QStringList cmdline_args = QCoreApplication::arguments(); // Code continues ... } catch (const MyCustomException &e) { return 1; } return 0; } [Update] I have identified the problem - for some reason, although argc is correct, the elements of argv are empty strings. I put this little code snippet to print out the argv items - and was horrified to see that they were all empty. for (int i=0; i< argc; i++){ std::string s(argv[i]); //required so I can see the damn variable in the debugger std::cout << s << std::endl; } Does anyone know what on earth is going on (or a hammer)?

  • Accessing both stored procedure output parameters AND the result set in Entity Framework?

    - by MS.
    Is there any way of accessing both a result set and output parameters from a stored procedure added in as a function import in an Entity Framework model? I am finding that if I set the return type to "None" such that the designer generated code ends up calling base.ExecuteFunction(...) that I can access the output parameters fine after calling the function (but of course not the result set). Conversely if I set the return type in the designer to a collection of complex types then the designer generated code calls base.ExecuteFunction<T>(...) and the result set is returned as ObjectResult<T> but then the value property for the ObjectParameter instances is NULL rather than containing the proper value that I can see being passed back in Profiler. I speculate the second method is perhaps calling a DataReader and not closing it. Is this a known issue? Any work arounds or alternative approaches? Edit My code currently looks like public IEnumerable<FooBar> GetFooBars( int? param1, string param2, DateTime from, DateTime to, out DateTime? createdDate, out DateTime? deletedDate) { var createdDateParam = new ObjectParameter("CreatedDate", typeof(DateTime)); var deletedDateParam = new ObjectParameter("DeletedDate", typeof(DateTime)); var fooBars = MyContext.GetFooBars(param1, param2, from, to, createdDateParam, deletedDateParam); createdDate = (DateTime?)(createdDateParam.Value == DBNull.Value ? null : createdDateParam.Value); deletedDate = (DateTime?)(deletedDateParam.Value == DBNull.Value ? null : deletedDateParam.Value); return fooBars; }

  • Return value of a JQuery autocomplete using an array of objects as its source

    - by user2920430
    In a JQuery autocomplete which uses an array of objects as its source, can I display the label in the INPUT and later access the value? The default behavior is that the value is displayed in the INPUT after selection. In this case the values represent indexes to unique keys in rows in a table. <!doctype html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>autocomplete demo</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/themes/smoothness/jquery-ui.css"> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.js"></script> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/jquery-ui.js"></script> </head> <body> <label for="autocomplete">Select a programming language: </label> <input id="autocomplete"> <script> $( "#autocomplete" ).autocomplete({ source: [ { label:"c++", value:1 }, { label: "java", value:2 }, { label: "javascript", value:3 } ] }); </script> </body> </html>

  • JQuery Load() syntax - Changing data source on mouseenter

    - by Andrew Parisi
    Hey everyone. I've written this simple function that is supposed to load a portion of an XML file on mouseenter. It works fine when I specify the data source explicitly, shown below. I have a number of '.invest-port-thumb' divs, each with a unique link. The following code works fine—but it loads the whole XML file—and I only want a portion: $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load(this.href); }); }); This code also works fine—loading only the 'cName' portion that I want it to load...Except that this code refers to one of the files, instead of the value of this.href. $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load('port/atd.xml cName'); }); }); I guess what I'm saying, syntax wise—How can I combine this.href and the data matching cName? Thanks for the help!

  • FormsAuthentication authCookie is null only for some users

    - by mbalkema
    I am experiencing a strange problem with asp.net forms authentication. This problem only occurs for 3 users out of 30+ users that have successfully logged in. I am using very basic auth code that I have used many times and have never seen this problem. After the users successfully authenticates and the auth cookie is created, cookie added, and response.redirect to FormsAuthentication.GetRedirect(userid, false) is called. The Application_AuthenticateRequest method in Global.asax is hit. // Extract the forms authentication cookie string cookieName = FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName; HttpCookie authCookie = Context.Request.Cookies[cookieName]; if (null == authCookie) { // There is no authentication cookie. return; } So immediately after a "good" cookie is saved and the redirect occurs the cookie is null. I have run the code through the debugger and the cookie is only null on these 3 users. But the cookie looks the same as the cookie for the many users that login successfully. Any ideas? This is standard code that should just work.

  • Java/Android get array from xml

    - by Ashley
    I have a list of longitude and longitude points in an xml file that is used throughout my application. I find my self repeating this code to get points often and think there must be a better way? String[] mTempArray = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.stations); int len = mTempArray.length; mStationArray = new ArrayList<Station>(); for(int i = 0; i < len; i++){ Station s = new Station(); String[] fields = mTempArray[i].split("[\t ]"); s.setValuesFromArray(fields); Log.i("ADD STATION", ""+s); mStationArray.add(s); } XML is in the format of: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> <array name="stations"> <item> <name>Station name</name> <longitude>1111111</longitude> <latitude>11111</latitude> <code>1</code> </item> And another (possible) problem is that to get just one station I have to get all of them and pull the one I want from the array. Is this going to be considerably slower? Can I make this array consistent throughout the app? (But keeping the separate Intent methodology)

  • Polling a web URL until event

    - by Jaxo
    I'm really sorry about the crappy title - if anybody has a better way of wording it, please edit it! I basically need to have a C# application run a function if the output of a URL is a certain value. For example, if the website says blue the background colour will be blue, red to make it red, etc. The problem is I don't want to spam my webserver with checks. The 4 bytes it downloads each time is negligible, but if I were to deploy this type of system on multiple computers, it would get slower and slower and the bandwidth would add up quickly. So my question is: How can my desktop application run a piece of code only when a web URL has a different output without checking each time? I can't use sockets, and any sort of LAN protocol won't end up working. My reasoning behind this potentially nefarious code is to be able to mute computers by updating a file on the website (as you may have seen in my previous question today, sorry!). I'd like it to be rather quick, and not have the refresh time minutes apart, a few seconds at the most would be ideal. How can I accomplish this? The website's code is easy, but getting the C# application to check when it changes is the part I'm stuck on. Nothing shows up on the website other than the command. Thanks!

  • How can I make hundreds of simultaneously running processes communicate with a database through one

    - by Olfan
    Long speech short: How can I make hundreds of simultaneously running processes communicate with a database through one or few permanent sessions? The whole story: I once built a number crunching engine that handles vast amounts of large data files by forking off one child after another giving each a small number of files to work on. File locking, progress monitoring and result propagation happen in an Oracle database which all (sub-)processes access at various times using an application-specific module which encapsulates DBI. This worked well at first, but now with higher volumes of input data, the number of database sessions (one per child, and they can be very short-lived) constantly being opened and closed is becoming an issue. I now want to centralise database access so that there are only one or few fixed database sessions which handle all database access for all the (sub-)processes. The presence of the database abstraction module should make the changes easy because the function calls in the worker instances can stay the same. My problem is that I cannot think of a suitable way to enhance said module in order to establish communication between all the processes and the database connector(s). I thought of message queueing, but couldn't come up with a way of connecting a large herd of requestors with one or few database connectors in a way so that bidirectional communication is possible (for collecting the query result). An asynchronous approach could help here in that all requests are written to the same queue and the database connector servicing the request will "call back" to submit the result. But my mind fails me in generating an image clear enough so that I can paint into code. Threading instead of forking might have given me an easier start, but this would now require massive changes to the code base that I'm not prepared to do to a live system. The more I think of it, the more the base idea looks like a pre-forked web server to me only that it doesn't serve web pages but database queries. Any ideas on what to dig into, and where? Sample (pseudo) code to inspire me, links to possibly related articles, ready solutions on CPAN maybe?

  • Obfuscator for .NET assembly (Maybe just a C++ obfuscator?)

    - by Pirate for Profit
    The software company I work for is using a ton of open source LGPL/BSD/MIT C++ code that we have written wrappers around to port "helper classes" into a .NET assembly, via C++/CLI. These libraries have wrapped old cryptic APIs into easy-to-use ones based on common sense, and will be very helpful for a lot of different tasks will be included in many future client's applications, and we might even license it to other software companies in the same field. So naturally we are tasked with looking into solutions for securing the code from prying eyes. What we're trying to do is stop the casual observer from seeing what's going on. Now I have hacked some crazy shit in EverQuest and other video games in my day so I know with enough tireless effort anything can be done. But we don't want to make it easy for whomever. To the point, besides the Visual Studio compiler's optimizations, is there's a C++ obfuscator or .NET assembly obfuscator (after it's been built o.O) or something that would scramble everything up, re-arrange data structures, string constants, etc. idk? And if such a thing exists, we'd be curious to know how that would impact performance, as some sections of code are time critical (funny saying that using a managed M$ framework).

  • Where should test classes be stored in the project?

    - by limc
    I build all my web projects at work using RAD/Eclipse, and I'm interested to know where do you guys normally store your test's *.class files. All my web projects have 2 source folders: "src" for source and "test" for testcases. The generated *.class files for both source folders are currently placed under WebContent/WEB-INF/classes folder. I want to separate the test *.class files from the src *.class files for 2 reasons:- There's no point to store them in WebContent/WEB-INF/classes and deploy them in production. Sonar and some other static code analysis tools don't produce an accurate static code analysis because it takes account of my crappy yet correct testcase code. So, right now, I have the following output folders:- "src" source folder compiles to WebContent/WEB-INF/classes folder. "test" source folder compiles to target/test-classes folder. Now, I'm getting this warning from RAD:- Broken single-root rule: A project may not contain more than one output folder. So, it seems like Eclipse-based IDEs prefer one project = one output folder, yet it provides an option for me to set up a custom output folder for my additional source folder from the "build path" dialog, and then it barks at me. I know I can just disable this warning myself, but I want to know how you guys handle this. Thanks.

  • quartz2d translating the origin

    - by qwertyp96
    My understanding of quartz2d is that the code CGContextTranslateCTM(context, x, y); translates the coordinate system. I have a quartz2d view with lots of shapes on it, and the user needs to be able to pan around and zoom it. However, when using the CGContextScaleCTM(context, scaleX, scaleY); code, everything scales around the origin, not the center of the viewpoint the user is viewing. My solution to this was to use the following code: CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 512.0+offset.x, 384.0+offset.y); //(512, 384) is the center of the iPad screen CGContextScaleCTM(context, scale, scale); You can translate around fine, but things still scale into the corner. What's wrong? EDIT: Oh. Wow. Duh. If you move the origin, the shapes move too, so you can't move it relative to the shapes. Now I know what's wrong, but how do I do that?(move the origin independently of the shapes)

  • help me refactor iteration over a generic collection

    - by Biswanath
    Hi, I am working with a generic data structure, say MyGeneric<Type>. There is a case where I have to iterate over all the values it holds The code I am trying to do. for ( all the keys in myGeneric ) { // do lot of stuff here } Now the generic can hold base type as double and string and it can hold some user-defined type also. There is a particular situation where I have to some specific work depending upon the type of the generic. so the final code block looks something like this for( all the keys in myGeneric ) { if key is type foo then //do foo foo else if key is of type bar //do bar bar } Now, as complexity sensitive as I am I do not like to have an if condition in the for loop. So the next solution I did was if myGeneric is of type foo call fooIterator(myGeneric) if myGenric is of type bar call barItetrator(myGeneric) function FooIterator() { // ..... // foo work //...... } function BarItetrator() { // ..... // bar work //...... } Then again when somebody sees my code then I am quite sure that they will shout where is the "refactoring". What is the ideal thing to do in this situation ? Thanks.

  • Combining two exe files

    - by Sophia
    Here's some background to my problem: I have a project in Visual C++ 2006 and a project in in Visual C++ 2010 Express. Both compiles to form an exe file each. I cannot convert my 2006 project to 2010 because I get a lot of "unable to load project" errors. I also cannot port my 2010 project code to 2006 (I always get errors no matter what I try, something to do with libraries). My final solution requires me to only have ONE executable. Is there anything I can do to achieve that? I've done some quick search on Google and found there to be exe joiners, but I've also heard that those things are often used to make malware. For reference, I am working with "dummy" clients, and therefore want to simplify things on their end as much as possible. Thus, having them executing one exe is better than having them execute two. Also, I do not wish for their antivirus to go haywire because I used some program to join two exe together. What do? Edit: The two project files do different things. For example, the project in VS2006 one sets up a server, and the project in VS2010 one grabs info on the user's OS. The code for the "server", I think, has a lot of dependencies and for some reason cannot convert to Visual c++ 2010. The code for "grabbing" requires some newer libraries and compiling options, and would not work if I port to 2006.

  • Better language or checking tool?

    - by rwallace
    This is primarily aimed at programmers who use unmanaged languages like C and C++ in preference to managed languages, forgoing some forms of error checking to obtain benefits like the ability to work in extremely resource constrained systems or the last increment of performance, though I would also be interested in answers from those who use managed languages. Which of the following would be of most value? A language that would optionally compile to CLR byte code or to machine code via C, and would provide things like optional array bounds checking, more support for memory management in environments where you can't use garbage collection, and faster compile times than typical C++ projects. (Think e.g. Ada or Eiffel with Python syntax.) A tool that would take existing C code and perform static analysis to look for things like potential null pointer dereferences and array overflows. (Think e.g. an open source equivalent to Coverity.) Something else I haven't thought of. Or put another way, when you're using C family languages, is the top of your wish list more expressiveness, better error checking or something else? The reason I'm asking is that I have a design and prototype parser for #1, and an outline design for #2, and I'm wondering which would be the better use of resources to work on after my current project is up and running; but I think the answers may be useful for other tools programmers also. (As usual with questions of this nature, if the answer you would give is already there, please upvote it.)

  • Can foreground threads be aborted on application shutdown in C#.Net?

    - by Cartman
    I inherited a c# winforms app (.NET 2.0) which creates a thread upon startup in a singleton class. This thread handles messages from a messaging topic (Tibco EMS). When the app is shutdown, the thread doesn't remain the the background? How is this possible? Is there something else happening that can abort this thread? Code snippet: public class Startup { public static void main(string [] args) { MySingletonClass.Instance.Init(); // do other things below Application.Run(new MainForm()); } public class MySingletonClass { // singleton code //.. //.. private Thread t; public void Init() { t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(poll)); } private void poll() { while(true} { // listen for messages and process but there is no break clause // exceptions are also handled within to ensure control doesnt go out } } Pls. don't write to tell me this is bad code. I know it and i was going to refactor it when i realised that the app actually shutdowns correctly inspite of this aberration. So i want to understand how this is possible. Thanks for your help

  • i integer does not +1 the 1st time

    - by Hwang
    I have a gallery where it will load an image after a previous image is loaded, so every time 'i' will +1 so that it could move to the next image. This code works fine on my other files, but I dunno why it doesn't work for the current file. Normally if I trace 'i' the correct will be 0,1,2,3,4,5,6... etc adding on till the limit, but this files its 'i' repeat the 1st number twice, only it continues to add 0,0,1,2,3,4,5,6...etc The code is completely the same with the other file I'm using, but I don't know why it just doesn't work here. The code does not seems to have any problem. Anyway i can work around this situation? private var i:uint=0; private function loadItem():void { if (i<myXMLList.length()) { loadedPic=myXMLList[i].thumbnails; galleryLoader = new Loader(); galleryLoader.load(new URLRequest(loadedPic)); galleryLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,picLoaded); } else { adjustImage(); } } private function picLoaded(event:Event):void { var bmp=new Bitmap(event.target.content.bitmapData); bmp.smoothing=true; bmpArray.push(bmp); imagesArray[i].addChild(bmp); i++; loadItem(); }
