    - by Chris
For some reason I have a very ugly orange part of a border around a image. Can anyone see why this is? • sending HTML email with a variable in the URL

    - by Rob Crouch
I am using the following script to send a dynamic page (php) as a html email... the page being emailed uses a variable in the URL to determine what record is shown from a database <? $evid = $_GET['evid']; $to = '[email protected]'; $subject = 'A test email!'; // To send HTML mail, the Content-type header must be set $headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n"; $headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n"; // Put your HTML here $message = file_get_contents('http://www.url.co.uk/diary/i.php?evid=2'); // Mail it mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers); ?> as you can see the html file being emailed has a evid variable... if i set this to $evid and try to send the variable when running the current script I get an error... does anyone know of a way round this? hope i explained that clear enough Rob

    - by Itay Moav
For HTML input, I want to neutralize all HTML elements that have inline js (onclick="..", onmouseout=".." etc). I am thinking, isn't it enough to encode the following chars? =,(,) So onclick="location.href='ggg.com'" will become onclick%3D"location.href%3D'ggg.com'" What am I missing here? Edit: I do need to accept active HTML (I can't escape it all or entities is it).

  • calll html button onclick event from asp server side login authenticate event

    - by CraigJSte
Need to programmatically click an html button from a login event (code behind? the html button sends variables to Flash using method: no response - with no postback and uses ExternalInterface API via javascript. Going from SWF ASPX is great, but need to send User.Identity to SWF from ASPX via javascript after authenticate with login event which am having impossible time getting to work... (calling HTML event from Login button) tried scripting in javascript to login event with no luck, possibly because postback clears SWF variables - so perhaps keeping separate (login then html send) would work... Here is my relevant code: function sendToActionScript(value) { swfobject.getObjectById("Property").sendToActionScript(value); } </script> <object ..// SWF File embedded> </object <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:Login id="login1" OnAuthenticate="login1_Authenticate"/> </form> <form id="form" onsubmit="return false;"> <input type="text" name="input" id="input" value="" runat="server" /> <button id="btnInput" runat="server" causesvalidation="false" visible="true" style="width: 51px" onclick="sendToActionScript(this.form.input.value);" >Send</button><br /> </form> // CODE BEHIND protected void Login1_Authenticate(object sender, AuthenticateEventArgs e) { // do something to get User Id and Role //bind the string (user or role) to input.value //then call the HTML button onclick event to send it to SWF file. //which I could put in separate function and call from Login_Authenticate } Can anyone help me I am out of ideas. • How to change font color inside nav element?

    - by user2924752
I have a element and I want to change the color of the links within it, but all other links on my page are styled using the following CSS: a:link { color:#22b14c; text-decoration:none; } and here is the nav: <nav id="Nav"> <a href="index.html">Home</a> | <a href="Gallery.html">Library</a> | <a href="Contact.html">Contact</a> | <a href="About.html">About</a> </nav> and the nav css: #Nav { margin-top: 20px; background-color: #000000; color: #f2f2f2; font-size: 40px; font-family: "Calibri"; text-align: center; } I tried a span inside the nav element but that didn't work. How can I change the color for these links only inside the element?

  • If you're not supposed to use Regular Expressions to parse HTML, then how are HTML parsers written?

    - by Andy E
I see questions every day asking how to parse or extract something from some HTML string and the first answer/comment is always "Don't use RegEx to parse HTML, lest you feel the wrath!" (that last part is sometimes omitted). This is rather confusing for me, I always thought that in general, the best way to parse any complicated string is to use a regular expression. So how does a HTML parser work? Doesn't it use regular expressions to parse. One particular argument for using a regular expression is that there's not always a parsing alternative (such as JavaScript, where DOMDocument isn't a universally available option). jQuery, for instance, seems to manage just fine using a regex to convert a HTML string to DOM nodes. Not sure whether or not to CW this, it's a genuine question that I want to be answered and not really intended to be a discussion thread.

  • CSS button not styling

    - by o-logn
Hey, I must be missing something obvious, but can someone explain what I'm doing wrong with my CSS? I would like all buttons to have a certain format, except a few. I was expecting to use CssClass in order to override the few that should be different, but they all seem to use the standard one. My CSS: .btn { border:none; background-color:red; } input[type="submit"] { border: 2px solid black; background-color:green; } All the buttons take the second value (green background, with a border). However, I have this button: <asp:Button ID="btnAdd" CssClass="btn" runat="server" Text="Add" /> I was expecting this to have no border, and a red background, but it's the same as every other button. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

  • Diagonal Wedge Shaped CSS - Edge to Edge Centered in Browser

    - by Varazi
I have been trying to make this shape in CSS. Ideally it will span the entire length of the browser window and probably extend outside the field of view to support larger screens and also be centered so that the angle does not change. Anyone have any solutions? Also I think I might run into a problem of the angle aliasing harshly. I might need to resort to using an image. Would like to use CSS though. ** Image Spelling Error. (Indefinitely not Inevitably)

  • PHP Simple_html_dom issue

    - by stef
    The snippet below loops through some web pages, grabs the html and then looks for table.results and gets the plaintext out of the tags contained in each . $results is ok. Now I'm trying to get the href value of an tag that is found in the second of each . I'd like to include this in the $results array, but I'm not sure how to do this. The third foreach statement gets them but then I need to merge $links with $results. Ideally I'd also get the links in the second foreach statement. Does anyone know how? $i = 0; foreach( $urls as $u ) { $html = file_get_html($u); foreach($html->find('.results tbody tr') as $element) { $result[$i] = $this->extract($element->plaintext); $i++; } foreach($html->find('.results tbody tr a') as $element) { $links[$i] = $element->href; $i++; } } print_r($result); print_r($links); die;

  • Completely bizarre Firefox CSS bug

    - by Jason
I've been doing front end development for a long time, and I have NEVER come across a bug like this before... Save the following HTML to a file and view it in Firefox (mine is 3.6.3): <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <style type="text/css"> body { font-family: Helvetica, Sans-Serif;} h2 {font-weight: normal;} </style> </head> <body> <h2>Some normal text <strong>some bold text</strong> weird huh?</h2> </body> </html> If you don't want to give it a shot the output is like your cat walked across your keyboard while character map was turned on, except in the strong tags. I feel like this may be a font issue? When I get rid of font-weight: normal it goes back to normal, but I don't want everything to be bolded in my h2... Anyone have any ideas? More importantly, is anyone able to reproduce this?? Thanks.

  • Background not showing behind floating divs

    - by lolalola
    Hi, what's wrong with this code? The background disappears behind the divs when I add float: left to #text and #text2. But when I remove the float: left, everything looks good. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> #first{ width: 200px; background-color: #345752; } #left_b{ background:transparent url('img/left.png'); background-position: left top; background-repeat: repeat-y; min-height: 30px; } #right_b{ background:transparent url('img/right.png'); background-position: right top; background-repeat: repeat-y; } #text{ float: left; width: 50px; height: 30px; } #text2{ float: left; width: 70px; height: 30px; } </style> </head> <body> <div id = "first"> <div id = "left_b"> <div id = "right_b"> <div id = "text">text 1</div> <div id = "text2">text 2</div> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html>

  • html - selection range - getting the range + starting node + ending node + distance

    - by sugar
From my previous question for selecting specific html text, I have gone through this link to understand range in html string. Actually I am confused here very much. My question is as follows. For selecting a specific text on html page. We need to follow this steps. assumed html <h4 id="entry1196"><a href="http://radar.oreilly.com/archives/2007/03/call_for_a_blog_1.html" class="external">Call for a Blogger's Code of Conduct</a></h4> <p>Tim O'Reilly calls for a Blogger Code of Conduct. His proposals are:</p> <ol> <li>Take responsibility not just for your own words, but for the comments you allow on your blog.</li> <li>Label your tolerance level for abusive comments.</li> <li>Consider eliminating anonymous comments.</li> </ol> java script to make selection by range var range = document.createRange(); // create range var startPar = [the p node]; // starting parameter var endLi = [the second li node]; // ending parameter range.setStart(startPar,13); // distance from starting parameter. range.setEnd(endLi,17); // distance from ending parameter range.select(); // this statement will make selection I want to do this in invert way. I mean, assume that selection is done by user on browser (safari). My question is that How can we get starting node ( as we have 'the p node' here ) & ending node ( as we have 'the second li node' here ) and the range as well (as we have 13,17 here) ? Please help me. Thanks in advance for sharing your great knowledge. Sagar

  • CSS class equivalent for LaTeX

    - by Ryan Scott Bardsley
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to apply the CSS methodology to the LaTeX template I am building. What I would like to do is to have a set of classes that apply a specific style treatment to the bracketed words. For example: If I have three paragraphs of text, I want to have all of the paragraphs have [0.5cm] of spacing after the last line without having to add \\[0.5cm] after each paragraph. Is there a LaTeX equivalent of defining the treatment for all paragraphs in the preamble so that it cascades throughout my document? The equivalent of: <style> p {padding-bottom:0.5cm} </style> I want to be able to specify multiple version of these CSS-like LaTeX classes throughout my document, so I don't need a specific solution. I need help understanding how to add custom labels/names/classes to the preamble and an example of how to use them in the document itself. Thanks! Ryan

  • Converting HTML special characters into their value using Python

    - by tipu
I have a file that's littered with these: http://www.utexas.edu/learn/html/spchar.html That link just displays all sorts of HTML entities, such as – &ndash; — &mdash; ¡ &iexcl; and so on. Is it possible in Python to natively convert these characters back into their values so any occurrences of &ndash; will appear as – instead? My current approach was just to make a dict of key html entities and their utf-8 values and do search and replace, but I was wondering if there are any libraries that can take care of this for me.

  • jQuery Set Child CSS Attribute Problem

    - by Jascha
I have a child element of a div named "bob" that's class is '.divTitle' <div id="bob"> <div class="divTitle"> <a href="#"> <h1>Title</h1> </a> </div> </div> I am trying to set the background color of "divTitle" to red but for the life of me can't get this to work. Right now I am trying two things... $('#bob').children('.divTitle')[0].css('background-color', '#0f0'); // assuming children is returning an array... and $('#bob').children('.divTitle').css('background-color', '#0f0'); neither with any success... can anyone tell me what I am missing here? Do I have to go deeper than ".children"?
